I beg to differ with some of the latest reviews…… this stuff is a pungent spearmint sweet cinnamon/Vanilla cotton candy type of smelling perfume..With several sprays it has a nice strong vaporous aroma…After further smelling it’s kind of like a Versace Eros Junior….I think the scent is interesting as many other type of scents usually don’t have this type of bouquet.I think the word tropical is Justified As I also do pick up a small trace of coconut lingering in the background And I give the overall scent an 8.0…strength and Longevity 7.0

UGHH! I bought this at TJ Maxx for about $20. Maybe I’m a Dumba$$, but I had not heard of it, & it IS an EDT,,Not labeled as a MAN’S Cologne anywhere. Not only is it a MAN’S Cologne, but it doesn’t smell good AT ALL! This IS coming from a person that has a HUGE collection & out of well over 300 frags, prob 8 are “men’s”, So, I do not have anything against that,, it’s just a terrible smell! I had to put hand sanitizer on it, then scrub it off with soap after about 15 mins, b/c I couldn’t take it anymore. I let the hand sanitizer blob sit for a minute to break it up, b/c I did NOT want any left behind. Just awful. I would not want my man to smell like this. Everrrr!

I’m so confused! I thought I hated cypress, based on something else I tested recently (and for the life of me, I cannot think what it was). But this is fantastic! I consider this unisex, leaning toward masculine.
Now bear in mind, it starts out quite masculine, so at first, I thought it would be a no-go for me, because it was a bit too aromatic. But within the first hour, it smoothed out beautifully, and I cannot stop sniffing the back of my hand.
So very green, herbal, and fresh — almost citrusy — with a bit of mint. And there’s a spice in here that I haven’t been able to pinpoint yet… maybe cinnamon? Cardamom? I’m not sure…
I suspect there is also amber here, because amber is my absolute favorite note, and I am finding this fragrance addictive.
The lavender is definitely detectable, but it’s not overwhelming in the way that a lot of lavender-dominant men’s fragrances are.
I don’t get the hate AT ALL. Fantastic fragrance at a fantastic price. Currently at almost every Ross I’ve been to for only $16.99! Since it’s a limited edition, I say grab it while it’s widely available.
P.S. I don’t get any connection to “tropical” with this scent (same for the women’s version), but just ignore that. It’s a nice solid green, herbal aromatic with a touch of mint.

An awful smell with a name that has no comparison with what ingredients and notes are in this poorly blended edt, offensive flanker!

I dont understand the hate this is getting here. I quite like this. Good silage and longevity. Nice fresh woody smell. Cheap too. Good for the office or a casual night dinner or whatever.

This was a worthwhile blind buy for me. It was also a leap of luck because its fragrantica rating was barely over 1.0 when I purchased it. It is a creamy, coconut-lime scent to me with a healthy dose of mint. I can completely understand the JPG Le Male eau Fraiche comparison. It’s appropriate for the summer but I can also see putting it on very occasionally in mid-Winter as a welcome break.
UPDATE: It’s a year since I wrote my review. I see that this is now being compared to Diesel-OTB Wild. It is infinitely better than that. Tommy Tropics errs on the side of being too “chewing gummy” (as opposed to “bubble gummy”). Whereas the Diesel errs on the side of being too “pickle juicy.”

I bought it for 17 bucks at Ross thinking I’ll be the first to make a YouTube review of this, but naaah. I don’t even like it. It smells like a warm pack Wrigley’s Spearmint Gum. Can’t smell anything tropical about it. Going to give it away. #mrford

Tried this on my hand today and I must say the dry down is very similar to JPG Le Male eau Fraiche. Starts off with a nice (albeit slightly harsh and synthetic) Tropical vibe but dries down to a less bubblegum-y JPG eau Fraiche as mentioned earlier.. I’d buy eau Fraiche over this.

I briefly tried this fragrance while at the mall shopping last weekend. The fragrance goes on fairly strong – but dries down into a really nice blend.
This has a strong smell from the opening – but turns into a really pleasant, alluring fragrance – the longer it wears.
I’ve always loved the smell that you have while walking into a Tommy Bahama Store – where all of the cool candles are blending this fabulous tropical fragrance. This reminded me of the notes that I smell as I walk into a Tommy Bahama Store.
I need to try this again to know if I want to buy this…It definitely lingered on my mind and I’m still thinking of it. That’s a very GOOD sign!!!

It has a scent. Not a bad one, but not particularly good either. Fresh, inoffensive, safe, bland. And it’s gone in less than 30 minutes. I was a teenager in the late 90s so Hilfiger brand will always have a special place in my heart, but I’m not wasting my money on this one.
    p.s. Bring back Tommy Athletics.
