Description
High-end Japanese cosmetics company Sensai announces the launch of its first perfume line. Since silk is used in all the Sensai products, the perfume line is named The Silk. In August 2015, The Silk Eau de Parfum and The Silk Eau de Toilette launches around the world.
Inspiration behind this perfume is the key ingredient of the brand – Khoishimaru silk. The scent represents a silk veil that emphasizes women’s beauty and character. Its fresh oriental composition is a combination of fruity notes, white flowers, amber, tonka bean and musk. It is signed by perfumer Marie Salamagne. Top notes include bergamot accords, pink pepper, pear and violet leaf. Veil around its heart includes notes of peony, lily of the valley, Sharry Baby orchid and amber. The base captures warm accords of tonka bean and musk.
The Silk Eau de Parfum version is lush, sophisticated and sensual, with prominent amber character.
The bottles are designed to reminiscent silk cocoons (designed by Gwenael Nicolas). Both variants are available in quantities of 50 ml.

It was a blind buy, I could not find it in my city, but I am happy I dared to buy it. Is is sophisticated, elegant, feminine and not banal at all. It has this Japanese quality of being calm and politely discreet.
In my skin it lives around 4–5 hours.
Cefamignneoma – :
Elegant! This perfume is very refined. It’s powdery, sweet in a non-sugary way and very close to the skin. It does remind me of silk or fresh, warm towels. It’s super comforting.
staralex66 – :
Very nice, deep, warm oriental scent, well done, round and subtle. I can recommend it to anyone who likes oriental scents. Silk is such a good name for it.
TayVan – :
The reviews on here are right, ‘The Silk’ is very soft, it stays close to the skin and is most certainly for the people who prefer the classy understatement. And, like Mooniq said, it switches often between fading away, only to gradually become stronger again, rinse and repeat.
The scent is light, powdery soft, creamy floral, warm(ish) but clean and subtly sweet. And I really can’t stress the subtlety of its sweetness enough, so even people who normally don’t like sweet scents should not discard this without trying.
HOWEVER. The scent is not particularly unique, it’s not a scent that really stands out from the crowd and honestly, for such an exorbitant price I would have expected something a bit more memorable.
Just my two pence.
AccubLepVep – :
A sweet & creamy, salty vanilla.
The heart of this scent is in a style akin to Emporio Armani Lei but without the ammonia.
Less tart, less crisp, not as bright, less woody. Is, however, slightly muskier, nuttier, far creamier and boasts a maaassive heaped tablespoon of gloooorious salt!
(I’m absolutely crazy for salty musk, when done correctly/when it manages to meet my (bizarre/unreasonable?) expectations – a rarity. THIS.)
This is as moreish, sultry and comforting as, say, Sensuous by Estee. (I really have to be in the right mood for Sensuous. Sensai The Silk is more wearable and versatile for me, personally. Though they are not really so alike, they are in the same boat, on the same plateau, to a similar taste/character.)
This smells very natural to my nose. for me this actually reeks of sophistication and feels like a “better than”, very finely refined version of Lei. (If this was the original, Lei would be the cheaper copycat/dupe. And these are words uttered from the lips of a long-term fan of Lei.)
It’s a lavish expense that has an understated class. A class I’d anticipated from brands like Chanel, but Chanel never delivered. In fact, I hate to admit that I’d expect this sort of thing (in this day and age) from them. Obviously a modern, class fueled delusion. (I digress…)
Of the notes listed above, I will say that I smell the following:
Musk, Amber, Pink Pepper, Lily of the Valley, Pear and Bergamot.
Past a brief blast of brash “perfume” (or as somebody else put it – “hairspray”), this casually saunters very smoothly and with gracious ease through its wonderful stages – opening to heart, heart through to base. AND WHAT A BASE.
The opening is nutty, milky, with pear & woods. Heart brings added LOTV/iris/delicate florals, amber, salt. Base is a echo in remission of the heart – like the ice on the lake has broken to reveal a creamy, musky, animalic, savory, salted caramel.
Though not what’s considered masculine, this could be worn comfortably, with confidence, by males or females. It is very “come hither”, warm skin, rousing from sunlit slumber, morning walk, nature.
Not something you’ll hear me say often, but this feels casual/business suitable and “at ease”. Not simple, but rather with a complicated simplicity.
T-shirt and jeans.
Anyway, THAT BASE.
This just gets better and better the longer I wear it. It lasts very well, too. With skin close to arm’s length “aura” projection and stupendous (for such a soft scent, anyway – approx four/five hours) longevity. The base is a bed of plush white feathers and fluffy kittens (ouch…) and I’m dreaming of never waking up again.

Spraying this is like having someone lovingly lay a luxurious silk on your body so light, yet your aware of its presence. Delicate, clean, classy and understated, I also feel underrated but thats just me. Theres a light floral element and a whisper of comfort.

An odd and beautiful scent. Its there, its gone. Its strong but mild. Silk tease you, like a ghost dances around you. A very reffined and elegant scent, yet flirty and sexy. Its there and gone. Alive. a must try.
Levande. Prova den.

This is to my nose a refined soft scent, with a powdery edge, but not too much, it evolves through different phases, I like the amberish creamy freshness it has, it is feminine, classy , and a bit old fashioned maybe, in a good way..I see it more as a fall winter fragrance, as powdery scents are a bit much in summer..the heart gets a bit green with the florals, but the aura remains soft and delicate..very nice!! It isnt a strong scent but it lingers quite a bit !

I would have put ozonic above floral. To me it smells almost only hairspray. Underneath that is some soft thing that I am on the fence about. A little creamy, I like, but it does not smell quite natural to me, I dislike. It is a litte irritating to my throat also. But the base is soo nice. It has a masculine touch that I like a lot and find a bit old style. Just my thing. Hairspray overdose in top and heart makes it a no no i all tho. But that base….I would like to have.

Bronsteins review is spot on!
Very very feminine and leaves a silky trace on the skin. It weakens down rather quickly but never dissapears. Very pleasant and exclusive fragrance and a very beautiful bottle as well. A true classic and one of my favorites. I think it will appeal to many different kind of women, and it will both suit young women as well as more mature. I think most men will love this perfume as well as it smell so feminine without being a killer-powerwoman-PERFUME such as Opium by YSL.
Perfection 🙂
kim_goga – :
Wonderful from the beginning, and aptly titled: It really does cover the woman wearing it with a layer of invisible silk. It keeps its elegance and is undoubtedly 100% female – but then, this is interesting, because at the same time it reminds me of the male fragrance Greene Street. Which goes to show how thin the line between feminity and masculinity sometimes can be.
It becomes much weaker quickly, but fortunately never fades away completely.

Purchased it today, to be honest I really loved the bottle, it deserves an award for its uniqueness and sophistication, unlike the juice inside it, as it is no special, similar to som out there in the market. I tried it on my pajama, not skin. I will take sometime experementing with this.
Edit:-
I tested Silk on my skin, it fades very quick and the dry-downs reminded me of Dior Addict.

I had a chance to try this today. I tried the EDP. It started as beautiful sweet yummy ambery scent. Quite present, not subtle, but still not too loud on me. The scent developed during the day. First two owers sugary amber, very pleasant and sexy. Then it turned for a while somehow bitter and harsh, some hours later it was closer to skin ambery sweet. Nice, sexy amber. I do not detect flowers at all on my skin.
A very classy sophisticated modern amber. Great sillage, great longevity (I still smell it 13 hours later, though it is softer now .
It reminds me very much to Sexy Amber by Michael Kors. I personally prefer Sexy Amber, since to me and on my skin it stays ambery with sugary notes, but is a little more subtle and does not develop the bitter note.
I would recommend to try and compare both scent. Price difference is also quite high…

Lovely soft and silky fragrance. Close to skin and modest. I sense sweet orchid and tonka bean, some violet leaf, amber and musk. Feminine and smoothly elegant.
Pure gold!
LyncJoyncDalo – :
Absolutely heavenly! This is for the EDP. Such a delicate breath of a perfume, and a brilliant blend of the notes. I am not a notes expert, but here evrrything is so well mixed, nothing screams or takes lead. The dry-down is beyond heavenly 🙂
Warm, very sensual and delicate, sweet in the most exquisute sense.
It does indeed smell like waves of some long light silken garnent.
I watched an interview with the lady nose behind it, she seems just wonderful, delicate, very french 🙂
The glass bottle is gorgeous, but the cup is plastic and light, and feels cheap.
It is also hard ti take of.
It’s 50 ml for a very high price, but it’s definitely my next purchase. Probably already tomorrow 🙂
It is very much a skin scent I have been looking for for ages!
It is also fantastic on hair.
EDT opens fresher, greener somehow, lasts much shorter time. I Didn’t care for it.

Unbelievably beatiful one !
Cloudy soft, skinclose, intimately fragrance, like a cloud on a bright blue sky. On ma Silk has very good longevity, but stays close to the wearer – it is a whisper of a scent. Very comforting mix of flowers, pepper and very alluring sweetness of tonka. It is slightly overpriced, but very high class too. Worth try.

Well this is surely huge dissapoimtment. I tested it yesterday. The scent is extremely light, and I mean really extremely. Right after I applied it I could barely detect any scent. It smells more like a lipstick than a perfume. After approx. 30 minutes the smell becomes a little bit stronger as the violet comes out. At this moment similarity to Dior Homme is pretty obvious. The price is ridiculous (about 130 Euro per 50ml bottle). It would be much cheaper to buy Dior Homme instead- the scent is similar and Dior is a killer-strong comparing to this one.
