I got a frimp a few days ago, been trying it out and I have to say that Bpals quality has improved. I made it a point of smelling it blind to see whether I could pick up some notes. My daughter smelled it when I put it on and she immediately commented that it reminded her of De Profundis with rose. To my nose it was all carnations and something green. He next time I tried it I got the chrysanthemums and something musky. I finally broke down and checked the notes, turns out we were both right! This oil is well done, with a clear idea of what it wants to be: a clean floral and a pretty one at that. I have newfound respect for BPAL, this blend is quite charming.

Grassy green when just applied, then a very soapy floral smell takes over. Perfect to wear after a shower to feel extra clean.

LAB’S DESCRIPTION
“There is a Reaper, whose name is Death,
And, with his sickle keen,
He reaps the bearded grain at a breath,
And the flowers that grow between.
“Shall I have naught that is fair?” Saith he;
“Having naught but the bearded grain?
Though the breath of these flowers is sweet to me,
I will give them all back again,”
He gazed at the flowers with tearful eye,
He kissed their drooping leaves;
It was for the Lord of Paradise
He bound them in his sheaves.
“My Lord has need of these flowerets gay,”
The Reaper said, and smiled:
“Dear tokens of the earth are they,
Where he was once a child.”
“They shall all bloom in fields of light,
Transplanted by my care,
And saints, upon their garments white,
These sacred blossoms wear.”
And the mother gave, in tears and pain,
The flowers she most did love:
She knew she should find them all again
In the fields of light above.
O, not in cruelty, not in wrath,
The Reaper came that day;
‘Twas an angel visited the green earth,
And took the flowers away.
A funereal bouquet laid on cemetery grass: longiflorum lilies, white rose, chrysanthemum, and carnation.”
Hmmm…I can usually tolerate floral blends, but unfortunataly this is one that I just can’t.
It’s very very soapy and powdery . It has got quite alot of throw but it’s just making me feel a bit weird.
This is probably the most florally floral (If you know what I mean) I have tried of the BPAL blends.
I actually really like carnation but cannot smell it in this blend, it’s all Rose…and a mish mash of generic flowers to me.
Not much fun…
