I really want to smell this now! I like the idea of Black Opium, but the execution doesn’t quite wow me. It’s nice, but there’s something about it that I don’t quite like when I smell it. If this scent has taken the idea of it and put a slightly different spin on it, I’m all for it! The only thing worrying me is that *&%^&* orange blossom, a note that I hate in any scent that I’ve smelled it in so far (and my nose is hypersensitive to it, unfortunately). I just hope that this fragrance won’t get that irritating ‘perfumey’ vibe going on because of the orange blossom presence…
kru4e – :
Vanilla and caramel. Orange and Coffee. Pear and rose. Powdery iris and violet. Perhaps too much happening at same time. Thick, gourmand. Not too cloying or sweet for autumn and winter. Lovely coffee gives some character, freshness and balance.
There is something plastic-y with cool vibe. Perhaps that is patchouli, caramel and pear mix that gives me such association. Later this plastic-y vibe fades and perfume becomes warm gourmand.
Cold weather and evening perfume. Will fit evening with friends, same as sophisticated little black dress. I feel it also could fit with feminine gothic style. For woman 25+.
Messefekswory – :
It,s a peary caramel vanilla in a creamy way which is really fabulous when drydown. A very elegant expencive and warm fragrance. Love it!

Update: I wore The Only One today. It was sunny on the boat and maybe the heat has something to do with enhancing this delicious scent even more, a sweet caramelized, vanillic roasted COFFEE!!! Yes, I could smell the coffee today on me for hours. SO HAPPY with The Only One!!!
cnl444InsuffBooni – :
I finally got my hands on this beauty. It is a blind buy but I’m glad I went for it. Like someone else said it is a fresh coffee vanilla and mostly pear scent. Maybe the combo coffee iris violet comes off as pear to me but anyway I have to say I haven’t smelled anything similar like the Only One. Drydown is magnificent with a Narcisso Rodriguez (rouge,Narciso) distant dna in my humble opinion. Overall a unique fragrance ideal for winter and spring/summer because of it’s freshness.
Edit: in warm weather the drydown is similar to YSL Mon Paris couture but in cold temperatures NR.

Tried this today and I really like it a lot! Maybe it’s not the most original scent, but it’s sweet and I can smell it on myself, and that’s important to me. I love the powdery coffeeish scent I smell in the beginning. Later I smell something fruity and fresh too, I think that must be the orange and pear. It goes straight to the top 10 of my wishlist. Will sniff myself a lot when I wear this :D. It’s nice when others like it too, but I wear my perfumes mainly for my own pleasure. This leaves me in a lovely and interesting scent bubble.
Edit: I said that it’s maybe not very original, but I must correct myself because I haven’t smelled a powdery coffee scent before.
HaisireimibrE – :
At first sniff this was straight up the smell of Piggelin, a Swedish kind of pear ice cream. Super strange. Then 30 min later I get more of the coffee that I so adore. How is pear not a note in this one?
primera77 – :
I really thought I had found the one that I could love forever more with this perfume, it delights my senses. Unfortunately, I do tend to wear my perfumes to please those around me as well as myself, and only two people have said this smells nice out of about the 20 plus people I have asked. This has now made me think its not the one and although I will continue to wear it I feel a bit let down. I just smell wonderfulness and those around me say it smells of talc?? Hey ho the search for the real only one continues
persik – :
My goddness! I love it! It really is such a well blended fragrance. Coffee and caramel, together, are to die for. I can feel the iris and the violet so nicely done, too. Patchouli is not that loud here, it is just the right amount to satisfy the senses, and I’m so pleased. Also, I can feel just a little bit of a lovely rose. And the warmth of the vanilla truly completes this beautiful concoction.
Grinoy – :
Started out good and exciting from the bottle. But soon became a generic patchouli/coffee smelling dark night type of perfume. Dissappointed. It smelled different and unique from the bottle. But turned boring on my skin.
yan3648 – :
Beautiful, well crafted and classic violet and iris fragrance. I enjoy this one much better than the new release Maison Lancôme Iris Dragées. The two flowers violet & iris, vanilla, and caramel stood out the most on my skin. If I could eat the caramelized flowers like these, I would. The opening and the dry down are gorgeous, and unchanged, reminding me of the classy iris in Tiffany & Co EDP Intense, but less powdery.
The Only One is different and more floral, more interesting, more sophisticated than The One, which I found much fruitier, and sweeter with the peach and litchi notes. Patchouli here is rather quiet and tamed, as well as coffee, bergamot and other notes. The composition is very well blended and smooth. Maybe that was why I could not detect many notes separately.
I took a risk on blind buying The Only One and I’m very happy that I did!!!
vodkaua – :
This is quite nice scent. I get vanilla and caramel notes, but it’s not strong and doesn’t have a good longevity.
Reminds me of luxurious shower gel of shampoo.
I don’t like how they named it The Only One though.
The one is a line that doesn’t need to be specified.
RUSSICHOLEG – :
Not letting me submit what it reminds me of. Nearly identical to Jimmy Choo Fever after the initial fleeting spicier opening. Strong & sweet
arsenalroma – :
Spritzed this on in-store today. I’m not a fan of D&G for a couple of reasons, but they occasionally do put out a scent I quite enjoy (like Dolce Garden).
The Only One is perfectly nice, and I’m sure it’ll be a big hit. It smells very much to me like a weaker cousin of Black Opium, or La Nuit Trésor. I don’t get coffee from it—just sweet, smooth florals and vanilla. Now and then, a whiff smells a bit cheap, but overall it is pleasant. Lacks personality, for me. The bottle is both impressive and boring at the same time. Sillage and longevity are good.
Frimer – :
Sort of tried hard not to like this as I bought too many perfumes I didn’t need another when I just got a bunch and all I wear is Narciso Rouge ! However those notes ,,, how can one say NO to this , violets and cofffee are 2 of my favourite things in life. Iris and pear ,vanilla and patchouli STOP ! This is a must have for me !
And to boot it’s a D&G !
The Only One is a smooth, creamy ,fresh and sweet well put together gourmand fragrance.
It’s does resemble Black opium but I like this one quite a bit better ,maybe due to the violets and iris. Makes me feel like having a coffee with a vanilla desert wearing my favourite violet perfume mmmm So light and fluffy and addictive. The notes blend beautifully to a fresh sweet sultry sexy scent. D&G can do no wrong, the last release “Dolce Garden”was equally amazing if not better yet. D &G goes with the gourmand trend but has unique twists and great quality fragrances. I rarely smelled a bad D&G yet.
Emilia Clarke looks sophisticated and sexy !
Great frangrance , compliment getter !
ESHArcd – :
I bought it yesterday and can’t get enough of it.
It’s very elegant, sweet oriental. It’s quite heavy but not cloying.
On my skin it smells like powdered coffee with some vanilla, bergamot , patchouli and some light flowers with a hint of lime/bergamot.
Vanilla , patchouli and lime (I know lime isn’t on the list but that’s how bergamot sometimes turns on my skin ) at dry down on my skin.
Most of sweet fragrances seem to be very similar to each other these days but I find this one completely different. Very warm and sexy . Cozy and inviting.
I think it will soon take a place in my top 5 replacing one of the older favourites.
dashawan – :
I am testing this right now and I get so so much sweetness from it! I am a gourmand girl but omg this one is a sweet bomb!
I am surprised caramel note is so low on voting, I get so much caramel on this one! Along with vanilla and coffee yes but coffee is at the back of all. I sprayed it and I was walking around the mall, a girl working in a shop stopped me ”what smells so sweet?” I told her I am testing the new Dolce, she went ”oh my is so unbelievable sweet!” So yes if you love sweet perfumes dont miss out on testing this 😉
samopal85 – :
Extremely delightful and delicious. A scent to indulge in.
The beginning is somewhat chaotic, or at least louder, yet well blended. One can argue whether the opening is innovative, as in the first stages this perfume smells a bit like your generic gourmand.
The dry down stages expose the hidden, gleaming notes of this beautiful fragrance – lovely vanilla and totally yummy mocha-coffee notes, with a touch of powder.
Not at all my usual taste in perfume but I love it.
Going to enjoy it so much once the weather gets colder.
Rogov – :
I absolutely adore sweet fragrances, but this is cloyingly sweet in my opinion.
Right from the start the coffee note is almost non existent, all I get from it is powdery, excessively sweet flowers. Unique for sure, but certainly not what I was expecting.
AJIEIIIA0789 – :
So many flankers nowadays, but Only One is a standout.Fantastic vanilla-coffee-violet combo. It really develops as the time passes and just gets better. Infinitely interesting. Also, great bottle and campaign.
P.S. Heavy sillage all day..
wertbert – :
I tested it today and it is definitely very nice. I cant really make out the individual notes, I feel it is very well blended together. I can’t smell the coffee or the violet and iris-it is a very creamy, sweet and slightly powdery scent to me. I don’t get any similarities with Black Opium, but after a few hours it was very similar, almost identical to The One Desire and I would’t say it is unique because of this. I suppose that as a flanker it will have similarities to previous editions. I don’t think I will be buying a bottle as I have something similar, however if I would receive it as a gift I would happily wear it. The sweet vanilla in it is perfect for the colder months.
YURIUSua – :
This is really lovely I can smell the violets upfront and they blend seamlessly with the coffee, vanilla and patchouli. Also this perfume performs very well lasting hours. Does remind me of Eternity Intense which has a similar scent.
anton.shmukler – :
I only tried it on in the department store, but so far so good, it didn’t disappoint. I like it far more than The One. Yes it is similar to Black Opium but not the same: to me BO has a fruity nuance that this lacks. At the beginning TOO is flowery and sweet, I didn’t pick up specific flowers, but soon comes a sweet, warm vanilla with a hint of coffee, which is more discernible Here than in Black Opium imo. So it is a good and nice perfume, better than most new releases I’ve tried so far. The projection is very good, and lasting power is moderate.
Btw, the bottle and the juice color are pretty. And Emilia Clarke is always the best 🙂
kuz1303 – :
This is a truly stunning fragrance! It is sweet and powdery but not too sweet,it is blended so well, the iris and violet are based on a bed of warm and sensual vanilla. The coffee note is very demure and the overall effect is of a gorgeous and sexy fragrance.Medium sillage and great longevity. It is a dreamy fragrance and one of the best I have smelled for sometime
elen-orlova – :
I am loving The One Only!! It is like a refined smooth creamy perfume, very nicely constructed, nothing strong, just smooth and oozing with charm..it is sensuous, féminine, yet doesn’t scream at you…I find it more refined than Black opium , which is more thick with its coffee undertone…in The One Only the coffee note is slightly suggested, like the other notes too…the patchouli very neutralized also….it will be a dream to wear in winter…as it has a cozy warm aura…I detect no similarity to the original The One,Only has its own character, and what a beautiful one! A blind buy that turns out excellent ! The violet note is demure, it marries so well to a warm Iris..Can’t detect la Nuit Tresor either, This Is better…this is a great new release !!
moloko – :
Very nice. It is sweeter and full of fruits. Reminds me of a milder Lancome La Nuit Tresor.
I hoped it would be more sophisticated, with iris and coffe, but it is in the sweeter berry leage. I wish it was closer to my beloved Trussardi Inside, but no Way.
Longlasting.
olhovoleg – :
Does anyone know when this will be launched in America?
mikons – :
I’m feelin in, I really am! It’s sweet, deep, fresh, swoon worthy little beauty… not to mention the coffee, y’all. I need some coffee in my life! If that’s not obvious enough lol.
Truth be told, it instantly reminded me of 2 other fragrances I’ve been obsessing about – Trussardi Inside for the coffee and freshness, and La Nuit Tresor for the depth and sweetness. Went to check the notes, and guess what!
Not only has The Only One some overlapping notes with the other two – purple flowers and neroli/orange blossom (with Inside) and patchouli, rose, iris, pear (and similar or even kind of interchangeable notes of tangerine/orange, caramel/praline/toffee with La Nuit), on top of that *all* 3 actually share the same notes of coffee, vanilla and bergamot.
Hmmmmmm, makes one wonder. But I prefer to look at it differently – my long lost love has been re-incarnated with a modern touch.
Well, what can I say? Thank you, D&G for bringing back the essence of my beloved and deeply missed Inside, and giving it a modern update with my other favorite fragrance! I guess this might turn up in my wish list to Santa this year.
Btw, the dry down is completely gourmand.
Ps. Where are the spices?
kvasdopil – :
This one smells very unique. Sweet floral gourmand, almost a bit minty. despite the violet not powdery at all. Wow gorgeous!
Dead1996 – :
This is available for sale in Australia at Myer and David jones now
redasa – :
I love The One, and I’m really looking forward to smelling this too! I’m always intrigued by coffee notes, because it is my favorite beverage (which I’m drinking right now). Plus I have a soft spot for Emilia so, that’s another draw. ♥ I hope it is launched in my country too!
kupiviagra – :
Does anyone know, who is the nose behind this scent? Thanks.
Deenn – :
This fragrance is a masterpiece! Took me by suprise. I saw the bottle today, and thought oh no why a new flanker of “the one” which i found sticky sweet. But i’ve tried it and big surprise, im loving it! No comparison to black opium, which is a very loud and strong coffee scent. “The only one” is quiet but very seductive!!! super elegant… A trace of finest coffee dominated by violets and iris… Im seduced! Bought one bottle on the spot and i am enjoying it very much. Very unexpected
hyundai – :
This sounds so promising I can not wait to try this. I hope it launches soon in the usa.
Dimarin – :
Does anyone know when this will be available in the US? I’m dying to test it!

@walking44 Emilia is Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons.

alex63rus – :
The Only One Dolce&Gabbana is really fantastic scent! Very tick, rich, sexy… kind of sweet-gourmand, but not overwhelming. Imagine something like Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium, but even smoother one and no white flowers…
I’m very impressed with the quality of the blend and performance as well.
Night and seductive fragrance with lovely modern iris and sweet-gourmand notes, I think this is truly irresistible one! The bottle is real class in reality!
By the way, there is a fragrance by Swiss Arabian – “Cupid” – it got similar vibe to this new DG ;)Maybe Cupid is right between The Only One and Black Opium.
alkagolik24 – :
I love this campaign. I thought the first campaign for The One was amazing, but this was one surpassing it. Emilia looks amazing and I love how the dresses in both campaigns however this lacey dress is more more of an elegant look for her and she rocked it. And that voice, wow! Maybe one day the powers to be wil combine Emilia and Kits campaigns together
zhw109speagoessenda – :
Those notes sounds spectacular! I’m just hoping that the patchouli isn’t too screechy loud. I can’t wait to try this though, it’s on my want list. Exquisite bottle as well. I love “The One”, but there is just something missing in it for me. Hopefully this will be the only one I truly adore. Emilia looks fabulous, as usual. 🙂
Tarantul87 – :
What a beautiful campaign! Reminds me of those sophisticated images of Tuscany Per Donna. Emilia looks gorgeous!
Can’t wait to smell.
Deaherype – :
I cant wait to smell this. !!

Must have. I love the original The One from day one. I love this bottle, the name and the juice color, the notes. Soooo, come to me now! 🙂
