Description
The house of Bond No.9 from New York collaborates with department store Saks Fifth Avenue on a new member of their fragrant family – perfume named Texas.
Fragrance Texas is built around citrusy aromas characteristic for the state of Texas. Opening notes incorporate: mandarin, bergamot, black currant, pineapple leaves. A heart beats in floral rhythm of jasmine, gardenia, Hedione, neroli and lily of the valley, while base notes close the composition with vanilla, vetiver, cardamom, musk and oakmoss.
The new edition is an exclusive unisex fragrance and will be sold in a very limited line of 400 flacons. The flacon itself is a small piece of art envisaged to depict the flag of Texas to the smallest details. It is embellished with red, blue and white Swarovski crystals in colours of Texas, and is crowned with a blue stopper.
The fragrance arrived on the market in August 2010. Available at Saks Fifth Avenue as Eau de Parfum!

I don’t have that gorgeous bottle unfortunately, but what I wouldn’t give to see one in person. I got a hold of a decant travel spray of this from a very generous person (who I’m now guessing is obviously well to do, I didn’t realize how rare it was!) and I gotta say I’m sad I’ll probably never obtain a FB. Neither will the masses who read my review. But I did happen to see a seller on ebay making dupe oils of this scent and another one I recently got (isn’t that always how it goes) for like the cost of a cup of coffee. So I’ll be purchasing one of those this week to compare.
So when I first spray this I get oranges. I don’t get pineapple. Or maybe I’m just not acquainted with pineapple perfumes enough to tell the difference. It smells like a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice to me. But in a weird way it’s also fizzy. It’s like an orange fanta but if they used fresh oranges instead of corn syrup. I’m glad because I feel using citrus is much more authentic to the Texas and southern experience as a whole. At least where I’m from, pineapple is considered an exotic fruit, but many people can grow orange trees in their back yard.
Then it moves to the white floral heart. Now I do get a creaminess, but the citrus is still there! I’d say it’s more of a neroli + gardenia combo. I feel that the sportiness of neroli combined with the creamy gardenia is a perfect balance that transitions nicely from that sparkly orange top. I wouldn’t have ever guessed that it was gardenia if I never saw the notes, but a white floral scent is always easy to spot and hard to get confused with any other.
In the drydown I get a very creamy musk. If it was oakmoss or cardamom I’m sure things would’ve gone very differently for me as I don’t like those notes at all. I can’t really identify it as anything but a creamy base. Not even necessarily musky in the traditional sense (musk is usually sharp on me). Maybe it’s that molecule? Whatever it is, it’s very pleasant. I find that it transitions very smoothly from the heart notes.
This was a beautifully composed scent. You can tell that whoever created the perfume wasn’t just looking for a fast cash grab in a gimmicky bottle (albeit a gorgeous one if I do say so myself as a proud Texan). They really took the time to blend this one out to perfection. I also think this smells very Southern and could pass for an acceptable Texas perfume. I feel they could’ve incorporated more of the diverse cultures we have by making it a little spicy (like our Tex-Mex food) or more woody (like our long stretches of tree blanketed forests) but I am also very pleased with the direction they did go in.
And I don’t think it’s too feminine for a man who doesn’t mind a bit of white florals. It’s also a really gorgeous citrus for the majority of the composition, which I believe makes it very unisex.
I can’t wait to try that dupe oil and compare how they smell.

Tropical Oriental Floral
What does this smell like?
It smells like home, the kitchen actually… Gardenia / Pineapple starts this off behind them is vanilla… it does remind me of M by Mariah Carey it has a smokiness that seems incense induced
Neroli shines through and gives it that southern honeysuckle flair reminiscent of the summer heat but gardenia is the leading floral here
It can be unisex… it just smells warm and comforting

@sauko. Its the Texas flag.
Born and Bred in the great state of Texas, when I first heard about Bond No.9’s venture into creating a fragrance based around my state. I was extremely excited. Especially after Louisiana was given a fragrance in the form of “New Orleans”- which is another favourite of mine. Texas actually went in the opposite direction of what I was expecting, I was expecting something very woody, very intensive, very masculine but instead its a very sweet, juicy and fresh fragrance which works beautifully all year round and works well on both women and men. The Pineapple is the star of this fragrance for me, its very strong and very juicy, its like i can feel the juices of the Pineapple dripping down my face almost. Add to this the intense scent of Blackcurrants all blossoming on a field of beautiful white gardenias. The vanilla came in somewhere in the middle for me after a few hours, it was as if the vanilla had literally come in and soaked all the other notes but left them floating in this cool beautiful cocktail of a fragrance. When I wear Texas, I feel proud, patriotic and I feel like im wearing the kind of fragrance that everyone around me is gonna want to wear. It just works well and its got something for everybody. Its warm, inviting, wholesome and it smells expensive. Alot of qualities which resonate with the State of Texas itself. Phenomenal!
100/10 😛

Mmmmmmmmm Texas
So natural and fresh. This smells like warm spring mornings where the air is clean and the grass is crisp and fruit is ripe. The pineapple in this fragrance gives an incredible sweetness and freshness amongst the musk and gardenia but the vanilla in the drydown is delicious. Just like the real Texas this fragrance packs alot of punch and staying power with an incredible sense of comfort and warmth. I feel very lucky to be one of few who got their hands on a bottle of this fragrance. I wanna go back to the farm and ride my horse and climb trees and make out under the stars all over again.
