The pungent bitter orange has been toned down significantly in this one. It was the note that made me dislike the EdT. However, the EdP is a fragrance blended to perfection. I now understand that this (and also the EdT) is seen as a masterpiece. I cannot stop sniffing my arm!
This fragrance is just beautiful and now I know why people say this smells like a niche fragrance. It is even better than most niche citrus fragrances I have smelled. This is in my top 5 best blind buys ever.
Do not be put off by the opening. It smells a bit plasticy. After about 10 minutes it becomes amazing!
I can smell myself for several hours, but I do not think it projects more than a few inches off my skin, which is a pity. I have only worn it in quite cold weather, so I guess it is more suited for Spring/Summer.
    Scent: 10/10
Projection: 6/10 (Projects for a good 3 hours, but not very far off the skin)
    Sillage: 9/10
    Longevity: 8/10 (8h+)
    Versatility 10/10
    Uniqueness: 9/10
Price-performance: 9/10 (The 200ml bottles and 125ml refill flacons are very good value for money)
Total: 7.5 (It loses points on projection)
It is still a love for me, because the scent itself is gorgeous. I wonder how it performs in the Spring and Summer.

This is how you do citrus! Splendid aroma that gives off a brightness that isn’t contrived, nor synthetic. A mix of foliage adds to the depth of this fragrance, not letting it just be a linear scent. Has a Tom Ford Grey Vetiver vibe, though it’s its own thing. The combo produces a wonderful overall tone, that you can wear this almost year round; won’t do as well during the cold, yet 3 seasonal performance is more than most can do.
If you’re looking for a citrus forward scent, that can do more than just be a citrus fragrance, give this a pick-up. Highly recommend!

At the forefront of the scent is that same signature, ripe, juicy orange of the original Terre, however equally as prominent to my nose is the grapefruit. While this has become an all-too-commonly used note in modern men’s perfumery, the grapefruit in this one does not feel overdone or played out. And I don’t get the impression that it was thrown in as a mere afterthought, simply to beef up the top notes or add some “freshness” to the fragrance. Rather, it is a multi-dimensional part of the composition; the grapefruit brings tartness to the citrus blend — the result of which is a semi-bitter orange accord — while also giving added sharpness to the base.
In spite of the bold orange and grapefruit combo, I wouldn’t call this a fresh scent. The citrus in this one feels quite robust, and the woody aspects deep. Vetiver doesn’t technically feature in the note listing, yet there are very dry, even spicy facets in the base which suggest to me that it is almost certainly present amid the raft of “woodsy notes”.
At the same time, however, the woods here are much less abrasive than in the original. The Parfum possesses a sort of earthiness that one might associate with tree bark or freshly-lopped timber, whereas the OG has more literal earthy qualities (some even describe it as “dirty”). Despite its spicy undercurrent, the Parfum also lacks the assertive pepper of the original.
The overall result is a smoother, more rounded and ultimately more approachable scent, which will no doubt find favour with those who enjoy the DNA of the OG but perhaps aren’t bold enough to pull it off.

Unlike TdH Eau intense vetiver, this EDP is a real flanker to the original TdH EDT.
If you like TdH EDT and want a heavier evening and more masculine/mature version, this is it. The orange becomes bitter.
Can be overwhelming for some, don’t overspray!
Original TdH: Spring/Fall days and summer evenings, 25+
TdH eau intense vetiver: Spring/summer days 20+
TdH Parfum (Pure perfume): Fall/winter/spring evenings, 30+
I love the 3 of them.

It appears that some arrive expecting a sillage/projection bomb and are understandably disappointed. TdH Parfum is discovered rather than announced, worn for oneself rather than for others. A Parfum concentration designed for Spring/Summer is quite a rarity. Jean Claude Ellena has created a fragrance that oozes class and can be worn to a job interview, a conference, or last all day in an office or church environment where fragrance might be a no no. People who enter your circle will smell you, but you can be sure this will not offend. That is rare for a fragrance so utterly masculine. If you’re looking to get lots of compliments, you’re much better off wearing the EDT or Eau Tres Fraiche, both of which I also love. TdH Parfum is for the self confident man who does not need approval or reassurance from others, nor does he seek to offend. He is unlikely to be directly complimented, but his pleasant smell will gently draw others into his circle of complete confidence in his restrained masculinity.

    Terre d’Hermes Perfume:
Firstly I purchased this for my Husband & Secondly this is the very first Hermes Fragrance that I’m totally let down by & I will be letting Hermes know my feelings about it!! For this to be a Pure Perfume the longevity of it is absolutely dismal!! Yes it’s strong & sexy smelling when you first apply it etc,but then after around 3hrs if your lucky it simply vanishes off your skin leaving only a slight hint of an Orange type smell!! We both use wear & love the Elixir Des Merveilles edp & Find it perfectly unisex & the sillage far far better than Terre D’Hermes Pure Perfume as even on my skin it acted the very sameway!! This cost me £136.00 for a large 200ml bottle & to be perfectly honest I did expect far more from it!! Out of 10 I would rate this as 3/4!! Deffo not great by Hermes high Perfume standards!! Me? I will firmly stick to my Caleche,Kelly Caleche,24 Faubourg & Elixer Des Merveilles now & in the future & think my Husband will stick to the Elixer Des Merveilles which does smell superb on him!!

I tried the EdT version initially and loved it, this is no different. It’s super concentrated, but still with the lovely citrus opening and that dirty/earthy vetiver and wood ever creeping in behind it. Having gone back to the EdT for comparison, this version is much less peppery than the classic EdT and the original seems a bit too peppery now I’ve tried this. A pretty mature fragrance but does not smell dated, it’s also very versatile and I feel I could wear this any time of the year.
An absolute classic in my opinion.

    Gift from a female friend
Al my girlfriends were charmed with it so is 100% success

i sprayed 2 or max 3 times at 8:00 a.m. in the morning and at 20:00 i went from the office to a bar when the girls staying next to me (not girlfriend) smell it and said yu have used Terre d’Hermes – i love it.
    It worth every penny
I will have always a bottle available
    Is a must have

I bought Terre D’Hermes for work when I started a new job. I’m generally quite close to people for prolonged periods but it’s a fairly fashion-forward industry so you can’t just call it in.
I’d heard TD’H was versatile and inoffensive but still interesting. I thought I’d give it a test, feeling hopeful. Not much else to say, it ticked all three boxes and then some. Others have waxed about it so I’ll just back them up and say that I think it’s an absolute masterclass in perfumery. The very opening upon spraying is a bit harsh for a few minutes as the orange settles down, that’s the only criticism I have and it’s a push to even bring it up. The harshness fades quickly to just an absolute beauty of an orange, rough scent that just grows softer and more comfortable throughout the wear. It’s undeniably masculine, fresh enough to pull off the dirty undertones and drys down with just a hint of darkness to keep you guessing. Glorious. I’ve had so many compliments on the smell and yet with its high ratings, it always seems to remain unique.
Notes: Dirty, earthy orange, a little bitter and not sweet. There is wood and some spice in there and some mossy, patchouli with the tiniest hint of some kind of smoke in the late dry-down, which I don’t think is listed, rather an amalgamation of other notes.
When: Any occasion any season IMO, very versatile. It’s definitely got a class and sophistication but can be dressed down too. The only time I wouldn’t wear this would be the high heat of mid-summer. I think you could pull it off, but there are probably better choices at that point.

The best relationships have secrets that are exposed over time. It’s the nuances that keep things interesting and wanting for more. This describes my relationship with Terre D’hermes. One wearing might be expose me to a beautiful black pepper…but on another, it’s all about fragrant orange rinds with a heavy dose of Vetiver, or wood.
Excellent performance. A truly versatile scent for any season, time of day, or occasion. Destined to stand the rest of time as one of modern perfumery’s finest creations.

A M A Z I N G fragrance. One of my biggest discoveries of last year. Elegant, classy, sexy, masculine.
Lots of people here find TdH is mainly suitable for spring and summer. imo it’s just as perfect for fall and winter, especially the EDP… simply an excellent signature frag!
    Compliment magnet. Babe magnet. MAGNET!

This fragrance is the proof that EDP is not always stronger and durable than EDT.
softer and smoother with bad projection on my skin.
    Prefer the EDT version.

I tried this on the recommendation of a sales clerk – as soon as i sprayed it on, I was 11 and standing next to the telephone pole in front of the house i grew up in on a warm summer day, smelling the black stuff they used to put on telephone poles to preserve them baking in the sun. I also get flint / gunpowder out of the initial spray. I honestly don’t smell it as much on the dry-down so can’t describe it, but i know it’s there because it’s one of the few scents that i get complimented on with regularity. It’s a reliable summer scent for me and i don’t feel like I smell it everywhere i go like some of the others i use regularly.

I am a woman and love wearing this in the fall and winter.
Such a deep and earthy smell! You really have to open the nostrils to get the full effect of all the notes. A quick and shallow whiff will not do the justice.
It’s also very nice as a base for layering for some of my more feminine scents.
    Really great!

After 1 hour, Sleep came to me. Whil I slept, I could sniff this while dreaming as if I have lived all the years from 1940 until now and have seen world growing up in front of me.

I like the edt more because it is more bitter and crisp than this one. This one is a mellower and warmer version of it.

I find the grapefruit note to be of great quality in the edp version of Terre d’Hermes. The transition to the earthy, soily, warm heart is smooth as breeze. Actually the overall feeling is one of elegance, balance and sophistication.
    And it smells excellent.
That’s it. Just a great smelling fragrance of pure craftsmanship. A few years ago i even loved it. Now i prefer them rough, animalic, edgier, imperfect, interesting. TdH is too polished to serve me any inspirational purposes. Still, undeniable quality.

This is amazing. Pure bitter orange, wood and hot rocks.

Take some orange peels, rub them in dirt… At first you will wonder why you just did this, but keep on smelling and you will get more and more and more from it… Add to that, a sublime note of flint… You will become a landscape. it will be your personal experience, probably different than mine.
For me, this is Jean Claude Ellena’s genius at best. A classic. Bold, elegant and uncompromising.
Spray it at home first (it’s very strong EDP with niche projection). Wait a bit. you might want to keep the opening notes for yourself (the first 15 minutes for me has a rotten vibe), maybe it’s just me. But then it goes away pretty quick and the show begins.
For the general feeling, it is simply orange done best. Very natural, too natural maybe for people used to synthetic odors. It might be made with synthetic ingredients too but it really stands out as something pure. Pure and dirty at the same time. Special points for the flint smell once again. PERFECT!
Be careful however if you work in an indoor environment, this is a love or hate fragrance and its surely one of the reason why it commands so much respect. Even if you dislike it, you must aknowledge that it exists on it’s own, and nothing is like it.
Longevity? It’s a real EDP. Except a lot. Probably more than what you really need. This is Jean Claude Ellena best sucker punch to the perfume industry.
It is bold, unique, and like Ellena’s other creations, I said it, you will actually smell like a landscape.
Thanks for reading my review and feel free to check my other ones!

Let me tell you. This parfum for men is excellent. It is worth the money you shell out. Why? Because the performance is excellent. This parfum lingers on my skin and projects well for hours. This fragrance is perfect for spring and summer. I like the citrus and cedar note combination. It smells classy instead of a cheap synthetic mess! I recommend!

This is superior to Terre d’Hermes EDT. It is far smoother with more orange in the opening. On drydown it has the same vetiver, orange, and pepper as the regular Terre d’Hermes, but with more of the orange persisting well into the drydown. Sillage is moderate but weaker than Terre d’Hermes EDT while longevity is way better than Terre d’Hermes EDT at moderate but leaning strong (especially since the pure parfum version has less Iso-e-Super, a note that I’m anosmic to). Overall this is the best iteration of Terre d’Herme’s ‘dirty orange’ (orange with vetiver and pepper) scent. However in my honest opinion D.R. Harris Windsor cologne is a superior fragrance to both this and Terre d’Hermes EDT due to having more pepper and leather in it, after having smelled both. I wonder how Yardley Citrus and Wood will hold up; still have to smell that. Overall if one is dead-set on buying Terre d’Hermes though, it should be the parfum version in my opinion.

I remember when Terre D’ Hermes launched in 2006 and people started wearing it I was so crazy about it that I bought an EDT bottle and when that was over I bought the parfum bottle, honestly I loved the EDT more because it has vetiver and more punch while the parfum is smoother and the orange is more prominent, all in all a great scent regardless what version you buy with great performance.

If you added Smokey notes to “ultra zest” by mugler, that’s exactly how TDH smells (the dry down for the most part)
The creator took his time to find the perfect combination of ingredients to create a subtle gem.
That rotten orange note somehow goes perfect with all the other woodys and earthy notes in this gorgeous juice.
    Longevity-8/10
    Sillage-6.5/10 (meh)
    Initial scent -8/10
    Dry down-9.5/10
    Overall- 8.7/10
Would I wear this in the summer? – the edt version is perfect for all seasons due to its more freshy notes. The edp is slightly more sweeter in the dry down and has better longevity so therefore the performance for the edp would help fight in the cold windy days of fall, winter, and early spring.
Is this juice worth the $135 for the 2.5oz?- if you’re one of those buyers that can’t trust online websites and decide to pay full retail, then honestly go for it. Like I said before ,it’s a gorgeous gem, so masculine and professional, so gallant and delighting.

Smell: 10/10 refined orange citrusy invigorating semi fresh

This is a fragrance of confident and self-sufficient man, who doesn’t show off in any way and knows his worth. He has his go-to style and he sticks to it.
Classical fragrance, but in extraordinary good way!
Don’t be scared, but Terre d’Hermes starts with the typical strong “ocean breeze” shower gel smell, but the further composition are just on point. Also it has good sillage and dry down is pure pleasure.
Definitely my personal favorite to smell on a man!
FYI: This can be a good unisex perfume, because on me,as a female, it opens up way sweeter, even with hints of vanilla. Does anyone else get that?

  38. :

Reminding people who call this fragrance an ‘eau de parfum’ concentration — this is actually a Pure perfume concentration! Meaning, less projection (because it contains less alcohol) and more longevity.
I get at least 12 hours of longevity with this perfume. I like to layer both the EDT and the perfume: you get the best of both versions!
My Signature scent; this is also the fragrance I want my daughters to remember me for whenever they’ll smell it in the future.

  40. :

The parfum version evokes for me someone who is mild-mannered, well-read, professionally accomplished but doesn’t take himself or herself too seriously. It makes me think of the kind of person who doodles a lot and has a decent collection of vintage pencils. Anyway I find it an enchanting scent, with quite a different personality than the edt version. It’s more mature and grounded. I used to like the edt version, but after I tried the parfum version, the edt smelled like preserved fruit to me.
I think of it as an Eau d`Orange Verte you can actually wear, because it won’t disappear by the time you leave the house.

  41. :

Absolutely amazing and classy. For me it works the best on sunset/sundown, late evenings in Fall and Spring with a bit chilly winds, then it truly reveals its aroma and stages, and it is great performer overall.
It reminds me a lot of absolute mix between Dunhill Icon and Bvlgari Aqua Amara.
Sophisticated and sublime Woody Vetiver with Orangy Neroli.

This absolutely blossomed in 65 degree and cooler weather this past week. I was shocked at rediscovering it’s potential, I wanted to just walk around outside as I continued to get continuous wifts from the awesome scent cloud that surrounded me. The orange really comes alive in cooler weather. WOW! Recommended!

  43. :

Tested this for the second or third time at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. A realistic orange, dry wood and vetiver, an earthy flint. Maybe some benzoin in there.
This is mature, masculine and a little stuffy. Better in cooler weather and more formal situations. Not really sexy. Longevity, sillage and projection are all pretty good. This lasted all day. A pretty popular scent but I’ve tried it a few times and can’t say I like it. The mineral feel of TdH EdP is metallic and headache inducing. There’s also a peircing aspect to this scent that I don’t care for. Seems high quality but I’ll pass on this one. Maybe I’ll have better luck with the EdT. The bottle looks cool!

  44. :

    4 out of 5

It shares the DNA with the EDT version but it is defferent enough in my opinion.
The EDP is more grassy, woody and formal. It is smoother but darker. It smells more earthy although It doesnt include vetiver unlike the EDT (which might suits you if you are not a vetiver fan).
The EDT projects way better and has better longevity on clothes. But this one smells better on the skin and lasts longer.
Both are great with superb quality.

  45. :

    5 out of 5

The EDP is the best of the bunch in my opinion because it balances the refreshing splash of bitter citrus with a note of mellow wood. The wood is well-blended and remains in the background, and the heart of flint seems non-existent to me. The citrus is especially bitter, which makes it very sporty and useful for work if you want to convey a sharp edge.
I have been complimented several times on this fragrance because it apparently smells unique. To me, it’s simply a perfect citrus scent. I won’t compare it to weird niche fragrances that nerds like me tend to appreciate. All I know is I can’t stop compulsively smelling it. It’s that good. This is great blind buy if you like Bleu de Chanel but want to try something less overplayed.
    Scent: 10/10
    Longevity: 8 hours
    Sillage: arm’s length maximum

I’m not a professional reviewer nor do i have an “experienced” nose; but i have a lot of fragrances and this is one that last a long time. I haven’t figured out the right amount of applications yet. The ISO-E makes it hard to determine. After 15 -20 min i can’t smell the fragrance but i receive complements throughout the day. I sprayed it on a T-shirt one weekend and the next weekend i could still smell it on the shirt when doing laundry.
I see this as a spring or fall fragrance. Not so much for the really hot or cold days. Jeans and T-shirt to sport coat, maybe a suit, but not a tux. I really like it but on me it’s like a ninja and i believe this is from the ISO-E in this fragrance. I have the Parfume version.
Last, i use it now as my daily go to Frag. Rather than wearing my niche frags (Creed, MFK, Tom Ford, etc…) i grab this to run around and save my niche frags for certain occasions or events.

  47. :

    3 out of 5

Ok. Here is the key to this fragrance. It’s LOADED with ISO E Super. That means that if you can smell it on yourself without working at it after the first 20 minutes, you put on too much. The nature of ISO E is that it fades in and out becoming barely perceptible to YOU, but everyone else around you can still totally smell it. It lasts forever to everyone but you. Read the description for Molecule One for a description of how this stuff works. My brother in law loves TDH. He sleeps with a C-pap machine for sleep apnea so be breathes through a filter and mask all night long. He tells me that even though he applies this fragrance early in the day and swears he can’t smell it before he goes to bed, it comes roaring back to life in the morning the second he takes off his air mask unless he scrubs himself with hot water and soap the night before. I personally notice that when I go to wash the shirts I wore while wearing this fragrance I can smell TDH as long as a week later. Powerful stuff for a fragrance you almost can’t smell when you’re actually wearing it!
As for a review of this fragrance. At first it smells like citrus and wood quickly fading to an ultra mild vetiver and the smell of ISO E Super… when you can smell it. I describe it as the faint smell of saw dust with the tickle of pepper at the back of your throat, but without the smell of what we typically associate with pepper in fragrances. I know that isn’t much of a description but that’s the best way I can describe the scent. And once you learn to smell it, it is unmistakable. Many people find it a very pleasant scent but I find it distracting. When over applied (ether on myself or someone else) it sickens me because I can’t ignore it once I detect it. I keep it in rotation because a single spray layered over some of my other woodsy fragrances actually makes them last longer.
I know how popular this stuff is so people obviously love it and I understand that my experience with this is outside the norm. Maybe I’m just sensitive to that chemical.

There’s either a curse on me on Hermes did reformulate this gem. In December 2016 I bought some decants (EDT/EDP) and was mesmerized by how bold and elegant the fragrance was.
In May 2017 I bought the edt in a dutyfree and it was SO watered down that I could not detect it and others around me could not either, had to return it. Last week I went to Canada and ordered the EDP from a retailer and to my surprise the EDP was more of an EDT version still very watered down … no more strong woods as before which was so shocking because this is the pure parfum and it was as if someone literally added water into it!
I was so disappointed that I went to a nearby sephora to tragically testify that it was just the same. Hermes either reformulated this or people are storing this fragrance in bad conditions because citrus based fragrances are very sensitive, for now, I will opt for the first guess because this does not seem to be a coincidence of smelling this and be the same in different countries.
If this is true, Terre d’hermes is dead and will be sorely missed.
(someone please confirm if you have detected differences in recent batches)
edit 14/10/2018: I asked a brother of mine to wear two sprays and I could not get anything.

This is rich sophitication right on top!
Magical scent imo, wait for 25-30min after applying. Takes that much time to settle down on your fabric and body. After that it starts to project and make appearance. So good people, this silent beast is like an elephant, you apply this, it will take time to get up but once it starts moving gently, it JUST WONT STOP. It projects verrryyy smoothly, not sauvage like pinching but very smooth. And it will stay no matter what! I applied this and went straight to kitchen to cook with all the Indian spices and stuff, even applied a Tadka! But despite all that when we (family and folks) all sat to dine, it stayed as it was a few hours ago… and… well… it survived the whole friggin night and the morning next! I was driving my bike early morning next day and it the sun it got reactivated and poof! It was still very much around. Since I applied on my chest (tshirt) i could still smell it!
I guess that’s why its called pure parfum. It’s cousin brother edt is more of a wild horse. But his is sexier, stays wayyyy longer and well as I said, simply magical (It survived an Indian kitchen, what else proof do you want!)

i reached for this one today after so long as its getting cold out (monsoon season in my country). ive forgotten how beautiful this baby on my skin. subtle but elegant. in summer can be a bit cloying, but in colder season this is eau so beautiful (excuse the pun). quite a winner from the house of hermes!

Hard to believe the people who only get TDH EDP to last for an hour on their skin. You must live in really dry conditions or have really dry skin.
On me, I get all day performance from it. It’s a deep, dirty orange that gets huge compliments. Definitely niche quality.

I have EDT,then tried this EDP, and for me EDT is better, longer lasting and more assertive perfume. Scent – note is more or less the same on both, EDP is just warmer and a bit darker. Unfortunately both are short lasting, one hour is max. I could buy decent pair of shoes for this money, and since now I am using only Adidas Pulse deodorant, after shave and so, which last a whole lot, smells sporty, classy and way better then anything on the perfume market.

The highly praised Terre d’Hermès perfume in the 200ml version is super diluted. It does not deserve any money, it’s a shame for the Hermes house …. Persistence maximum 1 hour on skin and 2 hours on clothes

    Linear, but 3D. And haunting.
    Iso-E super magic.
    Warm, amberish, smoky, fruity, unisex.
Though in the same lineage as EDT, after you use both (I have 3 bottles each, pre-reformulation) they are quite different.
EDT is spicy, bit more complex, and easier to comprehend.
EDP is poetic, minimal – more a niche scent me thinks.

To add about projection and lasting power.
Both EDT and EDP last well, no need to reapply much.
EDP seems to stick and linger, +12 hours if you don’t sweat it off.
Projection wise, EDT feels much louder, due to it’s composition.
    Not stronger; louder.
But of course, considering it being an ISO-E concentrate,
I’m not too confident about this assessment ;p

Opening I get sharp orange and flint
An hour later I get sharp orange and flint
An hour later I get Ned Flanders in a ski suit
It’s definitely a me problem though, doesn’t last on my dry skin. Will give it another crack when the season changes. Still no regrets buying it.

This is TdH EDT without the dirtiness of the flint note and a lot more woods.
One would think “great, then it’s an orange peel galore” but no. It’s more like a big bold pinewood in which you peel a small orange with great expectations.
You can feel the orange there and if you are familiar with TdH, your nose will constantly search for it but, actually, it’s not that pronaunced and in the end it’s a woodsy smell.
It’s a step back from the EDT in my book, as this is way more generic as a fragrance and has less of a charachter. I layer it usually with Eau tres fraiche for it to have some punch, as by itself it hovers and doesn’t move almost at all.
    Quite linear.
Good longevity, even if I was expecting morе,projection is meh.
To sample it or get a good deal. Not worth the buying price.
    It’s a C at best.

It is the fragrance that got me into the fragrance world.
    Classy and unique.

A dirty, bitter, orange rind citrus mixed with woods, minerals and spice. Not sweet which is rare for a citrus scent. Lasts a long time, and is signature scent worthy. Can be worn all seasons but my gra
