Description

“Whispers all around you, the party is merry. The soft music in the background gets gradually louder. A crescendo. A glass, another glass. Ron y miel. Inebriating, amber nectar. Inebriating as the smell of the blooming jasmine, carried along by the warm summer gusts. A crescendo. You meet her gaze – she whispers a couple of words. You spot it – it is Lunfardo. Your forehead drenched with sweat. Salt melts in the sugar of the liquor. The shuffling Gotan rhythm makes you brave, the night and the tango are on your side. A crescendo. Deafening summons. The air gets even hotter. You are aware it will hurt you. Yet you can’t resist. You stand up and head towards the dance floor… her face lights up with a smile that brightens the night… That is all you long for, now” — press release of the brand. Tango was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Cecile Zarokian.

Intoxicating, dense, luscious, dark, spicy musky amber with a gorgeous floral combination just showing itself. I need to apply this sparingly, especially in warm humid weather. The sillage is moderate for me, but intense up close. And the longevity is superb. I wore Tango while dancing last night (the Tango among others), and this morning there remains the definite waft of the gorgeous jasmine and rose, with a hint of amber and vanilla. Wonderful.

Strong…I accidently put on too much and my wife noticed the over-intensity. So….this is one you need only 2-3 spryas max.

The base is similar to chanel coromandel, but the tone is much more oriental! This one is sharper and stronger. I prefer it to coromandel.

Amber made for kings , the kind that lures you in as soon as it hits the skin, the amber accord trapped in this blood red juice will coat your epidermis with a sensual confidence.
Masterfully overdosed in exotic spices, namely a duality of cardamon and cinnamon, elevating the blend to a level of warmth and sexiness, Into the heart , a subtle use of cumin serves to develop a dark carnal facet to the composition all wrapped in a veil of gourmandish smoke enveloped in tonka bean. A hunting amber, intense and seductive like a Tango dance.

Just got this. I am a huge fan of Ambre Loup as well and I can see some similarities. Ambre Loup has more animalic funkiness to it and I mean that in a good way. It’s also a lot hotter with spice than this. Tango is cooler, has a big booziness to it, and I think is probably more versatile. It could be worn on warmer days than Ambre Loup- Ambre Loup is so fantastically warm and spicy it works best in the cold. Anyway I love this and can’t wait to wear it in cooler months than June. There’s an accord in the base that actually somewhat reminds me of CK Obsession from the 90’s. My uncle wore it then and I have a faint memory of what it smelled like.

Stupendous creation from Masque Milano. Also the only one that I’ve tried from this house so far. Very spicy, balsamic and smokey with a pinch of dirtiness which I believe the Cumin-note is the contributing factor to that! To me Tango is all about (sweet, smokey, almost gourmand-ish) Benzoin. Is it unique? I don’t think so as it bears a close (if not a strong) resemblance to Ambre Loup Rania J. So they are on a par with each other in terms of quality of the blend.I sold my Ambre Loup so Tango might be a worthy successor to it.

This is the best amber in perfumery.

Tango is a dusty sweet spice right out of the gate. The cumin is responsible for the dusty effect, and it’s done very well. Cumin at this level makes me feel like I’ve been riding a motorcycle through the desert, like my mouth is filled with earthen dust. The composition seems really heavy right now in the spring, but ask me again in the winter and I may feel differently.
The rose is a base note on me, becoming the strongest after the spice and amber have settled in. I definitely get why it’s called Tango, because of the characteristic rose carried in the mouth of the dancer. Tango reminds me of a much spicier Rose de Petra.
    Great longevity, a quality EDP.

Fantastic…an amber/cinnamon with a little spice in the background experience done with class. Great longevity and sillage. One of may favorites, a true masterpiece. Well done.

Tango is a spicy aromatic musk. It seems odd to me that the theme for this fragrance suggests something in the style of a romantic dance, because the nature is surely a bit too off-putting for anything romantic.
Musk isn’t listed—but there’s definitely a lot of musk in this. Alongside the musk, the other aromatics seem just thrown-in together without any balance to them.
The spices are all over the place, and don’t have the sweet abrasive style that they should have, but have some kind of dirty style to them instead. The same can be said for the woodsy notes, which are a bit overly abrasive, and also lack balance so that they’re as heady in their own way as the rest of the mix.
After sampling a number of Masque’s other offerings, it certainly comes off to me as a troll house. One that I would say is actually of Spanish origin—but centralized in Milano. This one almost seems like a dark Mexican reference of some kind, given its name and qualities; a concept of which that would be of no Italian interest whatsoever to project.
Really disappointed in this house overall. None of them seem to be especially worth a full wearing—let alone the price tag associated with the brand. Strongly recommended to try before you buy, and don’t expect too much from any of the others what you get from the one that you do sample.

Glorious. Rich spice, warm wood, boozy amber, with a stunning rose that mingles deliciously with the tonka bean and benzoin. Seven hours in and it settled into a gorgeous, powdery rose with delicate wafts of vanilla. Prompted an unsolicited “Wow, you smell nice!” from my husband. Definite, definite love – oh how I want this! Full-bottle worthy for sure.

Spicy, smoky amber. Big benzoin note. Big in general. Modern but it has that 1920s throwback feel to it.

Tango is a very spicy sumptuous Oriental also very soothing, which wants to get into the territory gourmand.
The very ambarado and sweet spicy start (cumin, cardamom and cinnamon) marks the drive shaft of Tango, the mixture is complex, rich, somewhat in the wake of opulent Oriental old and the old (reminds me Opium) of Indeed, when you put a few drops on the skin is noticed that the fragrance is reddish and leaves a trace of the amount of essential oils that carries (rare these days that all manufacturers skimp on essences to cheapen).
The fragrance has a bit of everything, the nuances are intermingled among them perfectly, even difficult to differentiate the phases by the large number of notes and scents it carries. The middle notes I detect a nice arrangement of rose and notes of sandalwood very well balanced with the rest.
Drying is best balsams of all kinds, the feeling is sweet, creamy, warm but never cloying, even I think it takes more components that says Fragantica list. The duration is Brutal and excellent wake, also the qualities.
Peca be something a little monotonous, but is forgiven by the olfactory result as good.
I’ve tried more Masque and fragrances are really good jobs, and it impressed me at the time “Russian Tea” (rather loved), but Tango, in another style, is not far behind.

    Scent – amber & cumin.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.
    Projection – I did get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
    Longevity – I get 12hrs consistently.

I like it…..but. Well, it is certainly a rich fragrance with lots of spices, balsams, and some faint animalic note. It opens boozy and vanilla plays along for a long period. It smelt rather perfect when I tried it on paper.
However on my skin, there is a huge rubbery note that appears quite soon after the opening and lasts for a long time. I didn’t sense it so much on paper, but on my skin it is prominent. The note becomes somewhat annoying and overpowers the other notes….unfortunately. I recommend to try it on your skin before you commit.
It is a long lasting fragrance with medium projection. Unisex, but leans more towards masculine I would say.

Montecristo was one of my favorite releases of 2014, but the rest of the Masque line has failed to get my attention. Tango is one that people seem to enjoy the most, but I smelled it when it first came out and have worn it a few times since, yet I can never seem to remember what it actually smells like after each wearing. And that’s the issue I have with this scent: there’s a lot going on in it, yet none of it is particularly memorable. It smells like resins with a heady floral accord, a bunch of gnarly spices, and a bit of coumarin sweetness. The sweetness builds into routine base of resins, musk, and amber. Tango is basically a boozy, convoluted oriental with a number of moving parts in a quasi-Amouage/Eastern style. I’d be inclined to label it more as dense than rich, and the end result, for me, is a scent that feels awkward and unsure of itself. It doesn’t smell like it warrants the price.

Tango by Masque was a steamy and bold fragrance with an impressive opening, great projection, medium sillage and a killer longevity. All the notes suggested by Fragrantica are truly represented. To me Tango felt like my beloved Chergui by Serge Litena but with the added sexiness and sensuality. Here is a keeper: nocturnal and beautiful – tango is an olfactory treasure.

Promising start, with a warm and spicy vanilla blend. So I happily sniffed that for minute or two until the rose, patchouli, and vanilla lifted off my skin completely and left me with an unyielding amber.
Personally I like amber better as a component of a fragrance. Within a half hour the amber here is completely domineering. Don’t get me wrong–Tango smells nice–opulent and finely crafted–but on me it’s an unremarkable, very strong amber. I might wear this if I were someone’s kooky aunt who brings home weird gifts after traveling abroad.
Good longevity. After several hours, the amber relents and gives a little ground to vanilla. This amber-vanilla combo is very nice, but frankly not worth the wait. Again, I recognize the quality of the ingredients and craftsmanship of this fragrance; it’s just not one I’d buy.

Boozy, concentrated, bitter, delicious, exotic amber.
It takes certain kind of confidence to wear this. Tango is – dark, steamy, passionate, seductive, but restrained and proper at the same time – just like the actual dance. Very appropriate name for this creation. Tango reminds me of Ambre Russe Parfum d`Empire, except it’s even deeper and heavier.
    I love this! A masterpiece!

A spicy bold oriental and my first taste of the Masque house is a unique one. The first thing that strikes you is a complex mixture of florals with cinnamon and cumin which quickly settles to a thick amber heart and dense woody notes.
It’s a hot fragrance in the same way Tauer’s L’eau epices or Serge Lutens Arabie but Tango is smooth and doesn’t have the sharp edges of some of the other ambers.
Drys down to a dusty amber much like a mild version of the old library book style but still with retaining enough of the spicy notes to be pleasant and balanced.
It settles really close to the skin and becomes warm and long lived but certainly nothing that stands out.

Basically it is a complex, and very spicy amber. Animalic, but not in an off-putting bodily way. It smells like some exotic dish, a spicy dessert (without being too sweet).
You can really tell that this is a Ms Zarokian creation. I find it very similar to MON NOM EST ROUGE and KASHNOIR, also excellent works of the perfumer. It reminds me of KASHNOIR a lot, being a spicier and a denser version of it, with less emphasis on florals and patchouli. Still, very similar perfumes.
Monstrous longevity and great sillage. Highly recommended.

On my skin this opens up like a slightly dirty spicy amber, quickly turing to more sheer brighter woody side, if that makes any sense. The overall feeling of it reminds other creation of Cecille Zarokian – Mon nom est Rouge, same vibe, but Tango seems less oriental. The name suits it perfecly, it’s like a soft hot breath on your shoulder, when you are dancing Tango. Seductive, dramatic and perfectly dangerous.
