Hilde Soliani Sweet Home is, as usual, a simple mix, but delicately and delectably balanced. Only chestnut, sugar, and vanilla are listed in the note breakdown, and this seems to correlate well with the experience. It’s not as wholly nutty as the almond/amaretto creation Orgasmo, nor is it an expression of pure sugar or vanilla, but rather, somewhere in between, and in that respect, I could see it appealing to those that wanted something sweeter out of Orgasmo.
For me, as most might agree, Sweet Home is still very sweet, giving off the aroma of mixed sugared nuts being sold by a street vendor. It’s not a burnt smell, though, but maybe just a “slightly browned sugar” smell–perhaps a fine distinction.
Sweet Home performs well on my skin, giving off a significant aroma with only few dabs of a .7ml sample vial from Luckyscent, where the fragrance is sold for $160 for 100ml, the same standard pricing as the rest of the line.
Much like Orgasmo, I’m inclined to track this one down. And as with Buonissimo, gourmand lovers should check this one out.

Butter, sugar and a nutty chestnut or hazelnut smell. Also, a little bit of dried pineapple(?)and vanilla. I feel like there is a chestnut creme filled cake that I have had before somewhere and this is what it smells like. However, I could see this smelling like coconut yellow cake on a bad chemistry day. Very sweet but love it!

Juicy coconut.
This one smells like the juicy kind of coconut that you can find in original bounty chocolate bar with that mouthwatering style. It has delicious factor of sugar coating.
There isn’t any chestnut so far (10 minutes in) other than coconut and some caramel blend in. A very interesting blend.

Nobody does gourmand like Hilde. Her gourmands are so realistic, beautiful, well-crafted and blended scents that can be worn any time. Nothing lurking in the drydown to spoil the moment, either. I am a fan most of her sweet gourmands.

Hilde Soliani is without doubt one of the most intriguing perfumers out there. Her work is polarizing, unique, sometimes bordering on unwearable due to the strange nature of some of her perfumes. Seaweed, oysters with butter, milk with chili? Not very conventional, and probably not what most people are looking for to wear. These perfumes are pieces of art at the expense of wearability, and that’s one of the many things that make Hilde interesting. Despite these strange works of art, her talent comes to great use in the world of gourmands. She has a way of making delicious gourmands wearable yet never seen before.
Sweet Home is purely a gourmand, newly released among a few others. This is most reminiscent of her other classic scent Crema di Latte, with a strong note of buttercream and milk. Warm, buttery, slightly yeasty like a raw dough, and with very slight and soft yet characteristic and distinctive whifs of chestnut, bringing a soft chocolate-y feel to the scent. Maybe one or two grains of cinnamon. A very convincing and lifelike rendition of melted butter and dough.
A few years ago, Sweet Home would’ve blown my mind. It’s incredibly delicious, however in my hunt for this kind of gourmand, I’ve stumbled upon quite a few like this – Lalao by Zeromolecole, Madera by Omnia, or for a much cheaper alternative, the oil Buttercream Frosting by Somethinspecial. What differs Sweet Home from the ones mentioned is the alluring, soft hints of nutty chocolate, not unlike the one in Guerlain’s Gourmand Coquin. It may be what makes or breaks a perfume’s identity. I prefer this over Hilde’s own classic Crema di Latte, and would be my next purchase from her. As of today the only full bottle of Hilde I own is Vani Choc, my favourite by her. She truly has a way with vanilla.

Caramel, vanilla and just a hint of smokiness or spice. I don’t get any chestnuts or a specific nutty smell, just a great caramely vanilla that had me repeatedly sniffing my wrist. My sample won’t last long. Great gourmand/comfort scent. Not a lot of sillage, at least on me, but I liked that it wasn’t too “out there”. Something to spritz on and curl up by the fire with a good book and a hot cup of tea.

Just received my sample today. When I first put this one on a sweet buttery smell hits me. It smells like I am in a bakery or sweet shop. As it lingers becomes a soft vanilla but I wish it a bit more sillage. I would order a FB for sure.
