Amber-Pineapple for me straight out of the gate, a fantastic combo!
I Agree with @HappyRaccoon, not much cardamom at first, more pink peppercorn and pineapple with a bit of musk backing, and the ginger is candied. Later the cardamom comes in, but it is a soft cardamom, like 3 Twins ice cream. During the drydown i am getting the faintest hit of citron even though nothing in the notes remotely mention citrus. It’s almost too fleeting to mention.
Far more complex than the pyramid is listing, yet a really soft and warm scent. The word i want to use for this frag is ‘Kind’ but kind often gets equated with wimpy or a pushover and this is not. Longevity is an easy 4-6 hrs.
By today’s standards it would be considered unisex for sure.
There IS a chance you may still be able to find a bottle of this hiding in a vintage box of Instinct, which is what happened to me. Both the box and the cap said “instinct” but the color of the glass and the juice itself werent matching. Instinct mens is an ebony-orange-sage and the womens is a greens-camellia blossom. To further confuse things, both perfume lines in 2004-5 had exactly the same brown or rose colored tall glass shape. It would have been very easy to mix them up. All you would have to do is swap the tops. This is probably what happened at the store i bought it in, as the box was no longer sealed. If you look at Instinct on the Fragrantica list you will see how there are new bottle shapes; black, tapered with ridges, but if you search “Instinct Avon (original)” on ebay you’ll see the same Surrender box and bottle shape. Just goes to show, always smell first !! You could end up with a nice surprise!!

One of the best Avon’s male fragrances, sadly discontinued.
I don’t get much cardamom in the beginning, not in the heart or base either. An amber and peperry spicy oriental juice. When pepper goes down I still recognize amber+musk duet and a slightly presense of a sweet ginger root, if it makes sense.
Green notes are playing with my nose: I can swear I hear cedar.
Lucky to own a full bottle that is used mostly in a colder and rainy weather that add some drama to a fragrance musicality. Or just when I am in a mood.
Still available on ebay for not much (Not selling) 🙂
Longevity 4-5 hours
Sillage – great!
3 sprays
Temperature +1C
Worth the buck- totally!
Edit: I found another pyramid on the internet
