Got a small sample. Smells like old books to me not cedar not very strong or long lasting to my nose. Get about 3 hours out of it with light sillage. Might be cause I can’t ever smell iso e stuff very good.

I got a sample of this back in december. By then I thought it was lame and nothing special. Now some weeks ago I was in Vietnam for business and found this small sample in my toiletbag. With the heat and humidity in june in Hanoi this scent was like an explosion. BAAAM!!
It˚s woody and a touch of vetiver but yet sweet cedar and lasts forever. It actually feels rather sporty. I can not detect any rose which for me is a good thing.
It`s trully fantastic in hot climates. I want a bottle of this right now for the summer.

AntonPan’s review below is spot on, Very simple ambrox and iso-e blend. Smells good but very lazy and the price tag is cheeky considering that this is not really a properly composed perfume.

This is better than I thought it would be. Lutens has a cedar and tuberose fragrance that’s awfull, like pickles and ice cream.
But Super Cedar is close to Creed Spice and Wood. This is a very fresh and crisp cedar and vetiver. It smells like it has some citrus bergamot and spices. The rose is not distinct at all, just a nuance to balance the cedar and vetiver.
I was guessing this was going to be feminine leaning, but is actually masculine leaning.

This is one unique perfume that you will either love or hate.. nothing in between, it smells like you throw a pencil in a box filled with the small soap bars you sneaked from a hotel and left it for a few days and now it smells of soap and light pencil wood smell <3

I was very excited to try Byredo fragrances a couple of years ago, but they somehow fell short. I appreciated complex artistic creations, not clean, simple, “laundry detergent” ones so I was a bit biased. Although Byredo, as a line, is not something I appreciate I have to say that Super Cedar is an exception. It doesn’t have big ambitions, but what it does it does well. It manages to give me dry freshness when I’m feeling sick, when I have smelling fatigue or slight nausea. Ironically, for all its chemicals and synthetic notes this scent manages to conjure the idea of crisp freshness for me as though a white cotton shirt has just been ironed. So, yes, it’s not a terribly complex deep scent, but I’m grateful for what this fragrance does for me 🙂

This was one of the few scents that was love at first sniff for me and then I read a negative article about Iso E Super and started noticing it everywhere and in everything, it drove me nuts. I didn’t wear many woody scents after that. Fast forward a few months and I love Super Cedar again, I guess nose just needed a Iso E Super break.
That being said, there is quite a bit of Iso E Super in this, but it’s more than that, lightly sweet cedar with musk in the base with a hint of mild vetiver and a light, fresh, sweet rose that you get whiffs of right up until the dry down.
I love it, I think it’s absolutely unisex and would be great on a women. It sort of reminds me of a more upscale L’homme Ultime with that fresh hint of sweet rose and cedar but if you like Ultime, Eccentric Molecule, Molecule 01, Creed’s Wood and Spice, or just lighter woody scents in general you’ll probably love this.
Super Cedar is definitely signature scent worthy because it’s so versatile but I can see it being a bit boring to some enthusiasts especially for the price, but to the I would say this is about 90% similar to Creeds Spice and Wood and at a lower price with better performance. A lot of Byredos get flack because they’re a bit minimalistic and softer for the price but if you can find them at a good price point online or purchase a couple with one of their buy one large get one small at one of their boutiques or retailers they’re definitely worth it to me.

My latest obsession! This is SO SO good. light, airy and sharp in the right ways.
Scent is warm on my skin and cold on clothing – lasts all day and is so great for work or travel.

This perfume is one of my favourite in the whole Byredo line. What makes it so special? First of all, it is not just cedar. Cedar is put in the center and covered by a lot of layers. Nothing tough, as cedar already is, nothing too different from the cedar nature. The perfumer did not intend to make a “155 ingredients smell” but did not limit by only one. I fell some tenderness, but strictness. Warmness and earthyness but lightness at the same time.
Worth mentioning that I feel the same effect as ambroxol (?) does in Dior Sauvage ODT: you just want to inhale. Again and again.
I would say that this perfume is mostly for an official kind of events and work as it makes you hold in your back.

This smells like a nicer, more complex version of Creed’s Spice & Wood. Nice and easy to wear during the day, at work, while traveling, etc.

Warm, woody and clean. It’s somewhat like a softer and warmer Molecule 01 (a lot of Iso E IE). I can’t smell any rose at all, but maybe that is what makes it soft and round and not as harsh as I find Molecule 01? I really like this.

Not worn by me, but the sillage and longevity are outstanding. An excellent unisex choice with warm and woody scent.

This fragrance did nothing for me at first, but now I love it. Its a super casual almost sporty woody fragrance. Very chic. The projection and sillage is good to heavy. I dont believe this is weak on anybody, but it seems like the kind of fragrance that some people might have a hard time noticing. Especially if you have been out sniffing an testing other fragrances all day long. It almost works as Eccentric Molecules. Only with a big dose of cedar! It’s warm, but also almost metallic. I dont get any rose, but if the rose is what gives it magic, keep it in there.
A couple of people i know wear this fragrance. It allways gets noticed and complimented. Great job Byredo!

Lovely! (I love IKEA and plywood smell so…)
The opening is a little too waxy for my taste, it reminds me of church unscented candles.
It 100% is similar to MAC’s skincare line fragrance

    what a scent !
this fragrance has a good mix of vetiver and cedarwood
I did not catch rose note in Ingredients of super cedar
The only disadvantage of super cedar is low sillage
but that good scent covers the weakness.

i love this fragrance! perfect for hot summer days but i can also envision it for cold weather wear. it smells like i wished molecule 01 smelled on me – which is already a good hot weather fragrance but this one is perfect. i don’t get any rose at all and i am quite glad about that.

It’s nice but very soft, very linear, once again I’m not feeling the price tag attached to this scent. Byredo is a much overrated house in my opinion. I much prefer the ceder in Kate Walsh Boyfriend which is a very warm and complicated scent as opposed to this one which is cold in tone and as I said very linear. There is a little musk, a little ISO e, a smudge of rose … nothing very impressive

To my nose Super Cedar is not so much about Cedar. It is light and rather pleasant, not overly synthetic as some reviewers experience it. The woody chord though, I would not really regard as Cedar. Iso E super is mentioned several times in the reviews below and this is likely to be part of the story. Due to the slight roughness of the woody chord my association is more to Timbersilk (which probably contains Iso E super as one of its constituents).
There is a faint stroke of rose over the composition that is interesting, but i can’t really make up my mind whether i really like it.
I wouldn’t mind wearing Super Cedar occasionally, but I would never buy a full bottle, especially not at the price of 150 € for 50 ml.

  19. :

If you don’t consider the price, this is a great scent! It’s light in nature, but provides a solid 7-8 hours of wear. The smell is simple, but very pleasant and balanced. It could be worn almost anywhere and all almost all year. I’m not a huge fan of cedar, but I think this one is great!
However, I doubt I’ll ever buy it. First of all I’m not a huge fan of cedar, so I wouldn’t wear this all the time. Secondly, the price really merits better performance, I would expect designer EDPs to perform this well (and many of them do). Also, as pleasant as it smells, to me, it’s only a “nice” scent, not something I really feel like I need to have. If it was priced like a designer scent I’d probably buy it and be happy, but it costs twice as much and is only slightly better.

I agree on someone saying that it reminds of carsickness. It smells somehow artificial to me, the cedar and the white rose but it gets better I think, very sensual after a while. It makes me think of those little trees people hang in their cars to refresh the scent of their car.

This smells like straight rubbing alcohol to me. I thought I was crazy after reading the notes and reviews, but my husband agrees.

Very clean white rose scent, rounded out with with a simple pencil shaving-esq cedar. No real evolution or change as it wears, and though the scent is strong, it is light. I personally don’t get the overwhelming synthetic scent from this. I grew up in cedar forests and the smell is very evocative of my home, but with a certain minimalist scandi edge that I would expect from Byredo.
Not nearly as fake or chemically as other reviewers might have you believe, I would give it a shot if you have the chance.

    @ Alex.pullinsky
If you want an affordable cedar perfume, I can suggest an EDP by Arabian Oud, it has been discontinued recently but you might be able to find it online, it’s called “yadis”. There are few versions of it but you can look up my review on it. The sillage and longevity are both outstanding like many Arabian perfumes.
Update: I got a chance to smell this one today and compared it to yadis by AO, this one is more complex and non linear. But yadis smells more natural and longer lasting. If you want to layer cedar scent I would choose yadis.
Update: if you can get your hands on the discontinued Yadis then take it any time of the day over this one; this is overpriced for what it is. I have few mls left from an old Yadis bottle and although its linear, it is of much better quality than this.

Reminds me of Self Portrait by Olfactive studio which i like, and also a little bit of CK2 by calvin klein which i am not really a fan of. It certainly is not bottle worthy at it’s price tag. I will admit that I like Cedar as a note. Do any of you have any cedar fragrances to suggest for me under $125 ? Would love to know your recomendations!

I just got a sample of Super Cedar in the 2016 Barney’s makeup gift bag. Thinking how much I love the smell of natural cedar, I sprayed some on after a bath to go to sleep. What a shock! Nothing natural about this scent. I had to wash it off because it made me nauseous! If car sickness were a scent, it would be Super Cedar. I threw it out. Never Again!

  26. :

Super Cedar is loaded with aromachemcicals. The most prominent note to my nose is that highly synthetic, ethereal rose, the same one that was so confusing for me in Le Labo’s Rose 31. I couldn’t understand Rose 31 for the longest time. Nothing about it smelled natural. Don’t get me wrong, it smelled damn good, but I am still hard-pressed to believe there could be any real rose in it.
Now Super Cedar seems to contain that same synthetic, sweet, magenta rose, and it is amped up by the cedar-like scent of Iso E Super plus ambroxan and a musk cocktail similar to that which is found in their own Mojave Ghost, so for me this perfume might be more aptly called Super Rose. I like it a lot! It smells sweet and clean, Super Simple and Super Modern (hahaa!). Compared with Rose 31 it doesn’t have any spice, where I a get a tiny dose of some distinct chemical spices like cinnamon and pepper. But I like both perfumes very much.
I think anybody walking into this with expectations that it should smell like real cedar on steroids is going to be sorely disappointed. But if you realize that Iso E Super smells like cedar to a lot of people, and maybe that is where the name is coming from, then the name makes a lot more sense and your expectations are more likely to be met.

This is an Iso E super perfume that smells of vetiver. No cedar to be detected. I do not like the way Byredo works its image. If you want an iso E fume go for Terre d’Hermes. Just the same way as the Molecule series this is just a company cashing in. The ingredients are cheap and you can order a liter of Iso E for just a fragment of the price of Super Cedar. Just dilute it with alcohol.
I must give them something, though. Nice to reveal the insides on the name, honest.

There are so many better and cheaper alternatives to this senseless addition to Byredo line, that I wonder if I would be more bored by mentioning them all or by trying to find something ‘super’ in this cologne which is double nonsense being neither super, nor eau de parfum.

  29. :

    3 out of 5

I agree with the Light Blue/Molecule references, but this actually reminds me more of Terre D’Hermes. This is a soft, citrusy cedar. I am aware there isn’t citrus listed in the notes, but I do smell a lot of it. The immediate opening elicited a “wow you smell awesome” from my boyfriend. After about 10 minutes the allure dissipates and this becomes a very sharp, boring, one-dimensional vetivery-cedar.

If I had sprayed this on without seeing the brand or label I would without a doubt, think this is Escentric Molecules Eccentric 02…
As I already own & love 02 as my regular ‘go-to’….no need to covet this one.

Ambroxan overload, completely indiscipherable notes.A complete missmash of what are apparently cedar and vetiver with a supposed rose note thrown in for good measure.
What happened to Byredo? Definitely slipping in the ensuing years after the magnificent Black Saffron,Green,La Tulipe etc in my opinion.

This is amazing! I am in love with this fragrance right now. It is a perfect blend of unisex using cedar and musk as the dominant players with a underline of a non cloying rose. I love it when a fragrance like this comes out. Now to the reference to molecule 01. That fragrance didn’t work on me..I smelt straight wood on someone it did though and this is wayyyy better than that. This is a first impression as I just got 10 samples in from Luckyscent .com . I hope it lasts long as I will be getting a full bottle of this asap

    Scent – cedar musk.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.
    Projection – I did get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
    Longevity – I get 8hrs consistently.

I agree with antonpan. Iso E Super overload with Ambroxan. Basta. Pretty uninteresting. Do not see the point why Byredo came up with this. Next one…

I never knew what cedar tree smelled like until I decided to buy cedar blocks to give my wardrobe a nice scent. When I finally received the cedar blocks, I loved the scent it would leave on my t-shirts; they smelled like wood and mint. The scent reminded me of newly built Swedish villas (Byredo even mentions Scandinavian furniture in their discription) and so I finally had a name for a note I had enjoyed in the past. I started searching for fragrances where the cedar was dominating but couldn’t find any that smelled pure cedar. So when I heard about Byredo’s new Super Cedar it was like the God of Scent had listened. I was excited!
Today I tried it and must say I really liked the first 15 minutes on paper because it was very Byredo-esque (modern with a note that is ‘off’) but this honestly was not due to any hints of cedar. Maybe there was cedar there somewhere but it was overshadowed primarily by musk and rose. On my skin it wasn’t as good because the musk is pungent. Three hours later I can only detect the scent when I put my nose on my arm and then it is very powdery and smells like pineapple (as mentioned before) and vanilla. Sometimes it reminds me so much of another fragrance but don’t know which (Tom Ford White Suede or even the drydown of Gucci Rush?).
My conclusion is that this is not what I associate with cedar. The scent is slightly powdery and thus not for me as I like my fragrances to be either citrusy or woody. It is not a bad scent, but I am dissapointed as my intial expectations (and hopes) of a ‘super cedar’ scent were not fulfilled.

Guys, that’s an absolutely molecular perfume in the style of Escentric Molecules. All that I smell is 70% ISOe Super and 30% of Ambroxan. IsoE costructs a cedary vibe, when Ambrox makes the fragrance smell as muted Light Blue pour femme / Versace Man Eau Fraiche. The only good thing is a cacao vibe that appears in the middle of the development and soon turns into fresh rosy aquatic. I think the time of such fragrances finished in late 2000s..

  38. :

this one starts out with a vetiver bomb blast.
then the cedar and rose nudge their way through.
then the aromachemicals work their way to the fore. the same one (exact!) in dolce & gabbana’s desert oud or tender oud.
it’s all i can smell in it an hour in, to tell you the truth.
a little bit disappointing, but worth a sniff…
