Considerably smoother than Royal Secret for Men or Jaipur Homme but along those lines, theoretically. I sprayed twice to the chest but didn’t think it was all that strong. However, I do get clear wafts of it from time to time. It’s a very pleasant scent but if you like to get clear notes this may disappoint. And it is sweet but it doesn’t come anywhere near vintage Pi, for those who want a point of comparison.

I bought this for my father that did not wear this very much. I tried it and I love it. It is sweet and peppery. Most certainly a unisex fragrance that leans towards the feminine side. Wonderful sillage and projection. Simply a pleasure to wear. Also, this is a wonderfully pepper fragrance. Love this one!

Based on the number of reviews it seems that this fragrance is highly underrated. As you can see from the other positive reviews, this is quite nice. In fact, I have it on now and I am really enjoying typing this and breathing in the sweet smell. I personally pick up the rose really well. And I like it! This is good stuff folks. I agree with LisaLovesPerfume. This could also be worn by a woman but that’s not to suggest it’s too feminine. It’s not.

This fragrance is truly a pleasure to wear- warm, and inviting with sweet facets, but not overly so. It reminds me of a cross between Givenchy ‘Pi’ and Lancome ‘Poeme’- both of which have a similar, resinous base- the former with prominent tonka, and the latter more amber-heavy and an unexpected note of vetiver. In Sultan Gold, it is like these these have been combined: tonka, musk, amber, frankincense… rich with spices, delicate honeyed florals at a level where this doesn’t read as either overtly “masculine” nor “feminine”; the subtle notes of mint and lavender effortlessly weaving about and creating a remarkable foil against the opululent backdrop. Despite average longevity (about 6-7 hours on me), this was well worth the $8 I spent- I would pay more for this in EDP strength.

I love this fragrance for myself. In my opinion, it is definitely unisex. Peppery, sparkly and uplifting.

From the back of the box:
Topnotes: Citrus fruits and peppermint
Heartnotes: Rose absolute, cinnamon, spices
Basenotes: Blonde leather, patchouli, and white woods.
My impressions:
The major players in this fragrance are the rose, peppermint, cinnamon and ginger.
The opening: Sultan Gold opens with a lot of peppermint and a mess of spices. It ALMOST reminds me of those cinnamon heart candies. Sultan Gold’s spices are smooth instead of harsh – the peppermint does give Sultan Gold a good kick, though.
The mid: The ginger and peppermint combine into a gingerbread cookie smell. It’s pretty awesome. The gingerbread cookie smell combines with the peppermint and citrus; it reminds me of a gingerbread house made with mints and those candies that look like lime-slices but are made of sugar.
The drydown: Sweet powder. Flowery, minty, sweet powder. Kind of cloudy. Very soft.
Performance:
Longevity: Inconsistent. I’ve only worn it a few times, but it’s been between 6-10 hours. Make of that what you will.
Sillage: It starts out heavy and calms down after about 3 hours. During the heavy-phase, it projects about 7 feet away. After that, only people within elbow range could smell it.
All in All:
Scent: 6.5/10
Performance: 6.5/10
Value: 9/10 Would not regret buying it blind, even if I hated it.
Overall 7.5/10
