Description

Stella Rose Absolute, with almost the same composition, is now more intense. The note of rose, always improving through the limited editions Sheer Stella, is strong and perfect. This time, just like in the previous version, the top notes of citrus are fresh and glittering, and sweet and delicate peony intesifies beauty of rose notes of the heart. And the deep, dark note of amber is perfect as the base. It was launched in 2005.

Bought this blind buy. It starts off nice and dark rose and quickly morphs into a very feminine rose. Maybe to feminine for this chick who wears a lot of men’s perfume and patchouli. Its a straight spicy red rose. Gonna wait for the dry down but i need something darker. Looking for a malones tudor rose replacement.

    It’s feminine, spicy, and fresh.

I love this – it’s a beautiful, deep, intense, rich rose, and one of my favourite rose perfumes. It’s brilliant. So strong! It lasts forever and ever – it has such depth and also a feeling of deep inner mystery, that pulls me into myself, and comforts me. I adore it.

I am very new to the fragrance ‘game’ and still trying to figure out what I really like and don’t like in perfumes. I’ve also been on the hunt for the perfect rose. I haven’t had a chance to smell many of the higher end ones (all the inexpensive ones were fails – too synthetic or plasticky or medicinal), so I had higher hopes regarding this. I ended up buying a few samples of the intense version of this from ebay, and let me tell you, the rose on this one actually seems wearable, but I believe I hate amber! As this dries down, it becomes less and less rosey, and more ambery, and the amber becomes harsh and cloying, to the extent that I’ve just developed a headache. I may give this a couple more tries, but am really becoming discouraged in my hunt for the perfect rose (this one sounded so promising!)
p.s. I’ve never smelled Stella the original – is that one less heavy on the amber?
p.p.s. I would also NOT categorize this as fresh.

I have been wearing this one for a few days trying to work out what I wanted to write in the review. Yes it’s similar to the original but as the name suggests, deeper, darker and more intense while still being fresh.
I know the notes are the same as the original but the composition is obviously different, less citrus, more amber. It does remind me a little of Givenchy VI L’Intense but it’s sweeter. Roses such as Midnight Poison and SL Fille de Berlin often go sour on my skin but this thankfully doesn’t. Some may say it’s simplistic but it’s a rose fragrance after all and I don’t think it needs to be overly complicated to be beautiful.

I just received this beautiful fragrance in a swap…thank you, Hera… and it is the essence of rose loveliness. I sprayed some on before I went to sleep and awoke to a sweet veil of rosiness that is sheer heaven.
Rose is my favorite of all the flowers but oftentimes it is not allowed to shine and reign over other accords, leaving it too green, soapy, powdery or musty. This combination raises the Queen of the Garden to the throne and it is the jewel in Stella’s crown. Of course it’s discontinued.

Agree with the commenter below, this is a rose oud perfume. Somewhat similar to coach rose d’or except that stella has more rose scent, less oud, and none of the masculine note that rose d’or has.

I expect I would love this to death just like the old good Stella. But I detected a big oudh in the initial spray. Not in a bad way but it is not as I expected

Beautiful, feminine fragrance. I was stopped by various women randomly when wearing this, to ask what fragrance I was wearing and the compliments flowed. It’s just fabulous and so alluring.

BlackAmberMoon and jenniferlincol below have already said everything I want to say about this perfume. I received it in the mail today after a disappointment with the 2014 reformulated Stella (was so weak, I dumped half a sample on me and could barely smell it after an hour..) and I LOVE IT! It is deep, rich, warm, jammy, sexy, gorgeous, fantastic ROSE. The first spray literally took my breath away 😉 Cannot endorse this enough for rose lovers. I think this might be my perfect rose! (Now to buy some back up bottles, cause I think this is soon going to become very hard to find, if it isn’t already.)

Everything you love about the original Stella is still here: stunning, crisp, realistic rose, soft amber base – but a deeper interpretation in Absolute. A simple formula beautifully executed. This comes into its own after the citrus notes have disappeared and the rose really begins to bloom (about half an hour after applying). Stella works so well on my skin, and I receive many compliments, even when I think it’s disappeared. I first fell in love with the original, and still prefer it for summer, but this richer version will take me through the cooler months. I’m happy that they did not alter it so much that it is unrecognizable from the original. Very pleased!

After a miserable experience with reformulated 2014 Stella my hope was restored when this beauty arrived in the mail. I had 2003 Stella in both a bottle and a Rolette. I always favored the Rolette because it seemed more intense and lasted longer. I now know it is because it was actually Rose Absolute. THIS is the fragrance Stella should be. Now with 2014 Stella I feel this way more then ever. It lasts, the rose is jammy, you can wear it year round, it is just perfect, perfect, perfect! It’s everything positive about original 2003 Stella intensified. LOVE!

All these glowing reviews really makes me wonder about my body chemistry.
This was gifted to me a few years ago and I did try to wear it although it’s much too sharp on me.
It’s a uneasy relationship but I decided to give it another try tonight.
All I smell is sharp alcoholey synthetic rose, no amber or peonies and it stays pretty much the same trough the dry down.
It took dicipline to leave it on and I found meself leaning my left arm away from me.
I finally caved in and washed it off.
Worst bit is, I can still smell it and I’m getting a headache.

Stella Rose Absolute is not so different from the original Stella. Despite a more potent amber note, they are much the same.
Stella is known for its heavy and spicy rose accord. Many a time it has been described as gothic and romantic, qualities that are not absent in Stella Rose Absolute. I do enjoy this fragrance but admittedly it’s not really ‘me’.
The potent rose accord makes Stella Rose Absolute a difficult fragrance to wear. It’s best suited to Winter or night outings where a heavy scent is usually preferred. I can’t possibly imagine anyone wearing this fragrance during the warmer months.
Stella Rose Absolute is definitely a classy fragrance, maybe even sensual to some. It just occurred to me that this fragrance could be unisex. I can actually imagine Stella Rose Absolute on a man. It is neither feminine nor masculine.
If dark, ambery rose scents are your kind of thing, I would definitely recommend Stella Rose Absolute. Seeing that I like my roses fresh and Spring-like, I’ll be passing on my sample to someone who will appreciate it more than me.
Stella Rose Absolute loses much of its projection towards the drydown, which was a little surprising especially seeing that it opened so strongly on my skin. Thankfully the longevity was good, lasting for around six hours or more.

It’s a very good rose perfume. It as if I’m in a rose garden after the rain when I wear this one. So charming!

i get the rose, amber & lemon from this perfume. it’s just such a beautiful scent. i think this perfume could be worn day or night, the amber makes it sultry/sexy and the rose/lemon makes it girly & wearable for daytime. i love it & will be purchasing a bottle.

  19. :

I so want to like this, and I love the smell of the perfume in the bottle. BUT something on my skin makes it unbearably heavy and cloying. The final straw was a colleague’s reaction today, which was a sniff and then “Whatever you’re wearing, it’s just not you”. So, I have an almost full bottle of this that I’ll regretfully swap for something that suits me better.
I would love to spend a day standing next to someone who really can wear this and do it justice, as it is deep and beautiful – just not on me.

Spicy, sweet, complex, refined, long-lasting rose.
Rose absolute is deep crimson roses, piles and piles of plush, magenta and wine coloured petals. These roses are so velvety soft and plush I want to lay in a bed covered with them all day.

This is one of the most enchanting fragrances ever! One of my favorites! Soft, warm, sensual, elegant rose that melts and blends into the skin and makes the wearer into a glowing rose herself. It is definitely rosy with amber bringing out warmth and depth. It is like Stella with more intensity, and a bit less spicy yet more sexy than Stella Nude, which I also love but use as more of a daytime fragrance. Stella Rose Absolute is definite a date night fragrance! Seductive yet absolutely classy. The Jacqueline Kennedy of fragrances (hard to think of a modern day woman who combines such gentle sensuality with class!). My only regret about Stella Rose Absolute is that it fades too fast, like a real rose, but oh, what beauty while it lasts!!

This is ‘the one’ and ‘only’ sexiest and elegant rose perfume and why oh why Stella you discontinued this lovely scent? x

    Rose rose rose.
My only perfume and signature scent for many years. Now I have found other fragrances, I have bought a lot of other perfumes. But still my 8 year old daughter wants me to wear just this “scent of mom” – just this rose rose rose.

The most addictive rose soliflore perfume I have ever smell. Just the roses please!… I don’t need other notes (especially rotten fruity notes) interfere with my seductive roses. Sometimes I just want to smell one single note of rose to bring my childhood memory back. A memory when I picked one rose petal from the garden beside my house.
For others, the smell maybe linier – the composition is not complex but for me Stella McCartney Rose absolute is definitely better & cheaper than “Tanelli” Rose Highness. If you want to smell real rose in the garden, this one is a perfect example of beautiful rose using the latest headspace technology.

Rose Absolute opens with sharp, almost sour citrus and dries down quite quickly to rose but its so faint! It lasted only 1 hour. Stella Nude lasted longer on me than this “intense” version. Disappointed.

I love it but it has no staying power on me. I find it very similar, without the strong Benzoin note, to Montale’s Roses Muske

I am an English woman who grows and loves roses and cannot get enough of their scent, but they only bloom here from June onward.
Stella Rose Absolute allows me to enjoy the beautiful perfume of my wonderful English roses all year round. It is the most natural representation of fresh, delicious wet English roses in a perfume I have ever experienced.
All rose varieties have a unique scent, and some perfumes capture one of these scents, but this fragrance captures the essence of an English Rose garden at dawn with a light summer breeze caressing the sweet morning dew and lifting the fragrance of all the roses and the nearby trees and shrubs to surround you in their beauty.
Absolutely wonderful, this is my signature fragrance, and the comments I receive from friends and colleagues concur.

One of the freshest, cleanest, deepest, truest rose scents on the market at the moment. It has tremendous lasting power and I’ve had many people approach me asking about this particular scent. The first day of wearing RA at the office and three ladies asked me about it – they ended up buying it that same week! Rose Absolute indeed! I love it!

Better lasting power than the original Stella. Peonies are stronger in this version. Its warm..better suited for evenings. Too intense to be an everyday summer frag.
I cant decide if this fragrance is more suited for someone older or if its just that it reminds me of something somebody much older than me used to wear.
At first its very strong. I thought it would be a scrubber for a second! A few minutes later the initial sharpness goes away. Then the peonies kick in full force with lemon fading in and out. Dry down is my favorite part..elegant and sexy. Slight hint of lemon, nice amber base, peonies arent as strong, roses linger. Sometimes the dry down smells like CK’s Euphoria, and other times it doesn’t.
This one is nice, but I prefer the original Stella…It smells more unique and modern.

THIS SMELLS EXPENSIVE AND ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS 🙂

This one is subtle but gorgeous, and it is hard not to like rose! The rose in this frag is nice, soft, and slightly powdery and strengthen (or soften?) by peony and and sexy musk, but the scent is still very rosey. Its a very intimate scent. There is no citrus because I don’t smell it. It’s pretty linear and not very strong scent. I am trying to get one for my sister. I am VERY sure that she will love it regardless.

A great rose soliflore- the peony and base notes are unobtrusive and the rose is not overly sweet. I like the original stella but alas she fades fast..this one sticks around longer. Strangely enough i think it is quite different from the original but still recognizably stella (If that makes any sense).

  38. :

    The original Stella intensified!
This is heaven! Citrusy sweet rose that lasts on the skin!
Makes every time I inhale a pure joy.
I find myself reapplying the original Stella often, but Rose Absolute delivers without disappearing.
    Beautiful, deep, and addictive.
I love all things Stella, and this intense version is very satisfying.

  39. :

Completely agree with all the reviews below – intense, deep, rose with huge lasting power and sillage. The bottle and name neatly match the juice in that regard.
Compared to the original Stella, the contrast between the citrus and the rose is more clearly outlined. The opening is sharp, bitter, and acidic. I accidentally put my nose too close to my wrist the first time and my eyes palpably watered. Got too close and was pricked! But then, after twenty minutes, the lemon gives way to a rose that’s even sweeter by contrast. Not unlike a Warhead. Once in a while the lemon bites again, as if to keep things interesting, but the overall impression is just powdery . . . mmm . . .
    Still, a prickly one.

Gorgeous! I have “Stella” and while it is a lovely rose fragrance, it doesn’t last long enough. This one, though – deep, rich roses with amber, etc. to support it from the base on up. The best thing, though, is that it lasts much longer. I think having both versions is a good thing – “Stella” for a short jaunt out and about, “Rose Absolute” for a longer day. If you love roses and want a nice, lasting rose scent – get Rose Absolute.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

I love the original Stella as well but it was too pale and with almost no lasting power. Stella Rose Absolute is more intense, way deeper and lasts longer. However, it might not be suitable to wear on a hot summer day due to the heavy amber note. I’d say it’s perfect for spring, fall and winter, though!

  42. :

    3 out of 5

The musk really brings out the lemon before the dry down. One almost does not recognize the fragrance. But after it does dry the fragrance is almost the same as Stella org. I still prefer the stella however because it’s more consistantly rose, and this has a way more prominent peony, but still I love the scent.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

If in the original Stella, you didn’t like how the rose was competing w/ the woodsy notes (which on me smelled like a wet newspaper) than this is for you. It smells like the most perfect realistic living red rose. The other notes are there in support, but in no way distract you from the simplicity and beauty of the rose.

Rich, dark and very long lasting rose..
