Does anyone know how this compares to the Rose Gold edition?

This is my “edgy gourmand”. The sandalwood, orchid + patchouli add an edginess to what could otherwise be just another sweet gourmand. It’s spicy and sweet. I enjoy the candied orange and toffee which are strong undercurrents to this woody/herbally perfume. Stands out among the masses of beauty counter fruitchoulis.
I really like this one. I was complimented by my dentist and dental assistant at my last visit (they said it made the whole room smell good — oops, I may have oversprayed my sweater). Fortunately it’s a beautiful fragrance. I may have to pick up a back up. I don’t think you can find this everywhere these days.

A edit to my prior review:
I tried this a couple more times at night, and now I’m getting the toffee. I’ll give this some more time.

I was really hoping I’d like the candied orange and toffee combination. Sadly I get predominate patchouli. The orange in the beginning is lovely but fades fast. The toffee is more noticeable than the original, but still takes a backseat to the patchouli. Even though the patchouli on the original is still pretty strong for me, I think it’s more cohesive than Stars. I’m glad I had the opportunity to try it, but I won’t be keeping this bottle.

To my nose this is D-I-V-I-N-E. I have never had a “signature scent” but this could be it! I own both the Jimmy Choo original and the yellow flask, 2014 edition of Stars. One other reviewer said it best. Stars is the same as original, just exchange Pear for Orange. I like them both, but I like the Orange best. I definitely get orange, and toffee, and just the slightest hint of patchouli (I don’t usually like patch). I can’t identify the remaining yumminess in this concoction, must be the tiger orchid. To me it is close to perfume perfection. Longevity is pretty good, 4-5 hours. Sillage is modest, which is the way I like it.

Ordered online, because I love the smell of orange, candied even more. Plus the combination of orange and toffee sounded great in my olfactory mind, especially around Christmas time.
Well, another disappointment was in the books. Stars smells almost identical to the original Jimmy Choo EDP; so basically it’s a herbal, spicy patchouli with some sweet notes (maybe toffee, maybe something resembling it) but no orange ever showed up on my skin. Leans masculine in a way.
At first spray one would think this will be a strong perfume, however silage and longevity are average.

I like this orange version in the top and middle and beginning of the base. It’s sweet and soothing. However, any clothing item it gets on smell like straight patchouli oil for a week afterwards and I mean harsh, hippie head shop patchouli.

Such an underated gem! I can’t believe this isn’t more loved and talked about? Toffee and candied orange are a match made in heaven. Cosy, warm and sweet with the same powerhouse patchouli base as the original J.C fragrance. Soooo long lasting and a sillage monster, 1-2 sprays and you’re good for 6-8 hours. Inexpensive in my country (Australia) so I always have a bottle!

I’m addicted to the toffee and candied orange in this. It has a sharp, yet decadent opening of which I can’t get enough and dries down creamy and delicious! Gourmand are not usually my favorite, but this one is different. Yum! This is by far my favorite Jimmy Choo I’ve smelled. It’s simply wonderful beginning to end, with great sillage and longevity. I will be purchasing a full bottle ASAP, before my precious sample runs dry. <3

This scent is absolutely brilliant. At first spray, you can immediately recognize the bright candied orange, and it is so much better than the nostril-burning pear from the original Jimmy Choo. The buttery warm toffee then eventually comes through, mingling beautifully with the still present candied orange.
I’m generally turned off by anything with patchouli but in this one, I find the patchouli wraps up everything nicely, without overwhelming, by being so well blended with the other notes.
In conclusion, this version retains some of the best features of the original but it is miles better.

Very pretty and unusual. Intense candied orange with a hint of flowers. Soft and warm. Perfect for an autumn night.

This is a scent that inspires lust in me. It is sinfully decadent and lusty candied-orange toffee, and smelling it is climactic to the senses!! Completely superior to the original, and unlike any fragrance from that designer, WORTH its cost. LOVE it much!

It was a blind buy for me. I thought I would love it, I even asked about it in the forum and wrote emails to some people to be sure because JC JC original is my favorite and I thought this will be better. Nope. Not for me. The smell of fragrance seemed dry, too sweet, like sugary water with no taste and nuances, shortly – unpleasant and with no character.
EDIT: After this I started to notice some similarities between this and the original one and right now original JC also isn’t my favourite. Sad story.

Very sweet and at the same time orangee vibe. From top to bottom are sweet & creamy. Very gourmandy and it is absolutely winter, night, cold and rainy day perfume. 3 spray is enough for whole day. It last amazingly on my skin.

  16. :

Bought blindly and I’m so glad. Unusual that I like it. It IS sweet but not in a sickening way. I never knew that toffee would be something I liked in a parfume. If I mixed this with Organza Indecence on a cold day, I think I would fall in love with the world!

  17. :

Choo fans of the Original will not be disappointed, just trade Pear for Orange.
Add toffee and patch and bam! Sex Bomb!
and the gold bottle? what’s not to love, we all love shiny gold disco balls don’t we?
    Scent 9/10
    bottle 10/10

The bottle is nice. I really love orange so I tried very hard to give it a chance, all afternoon, but I just find it revolting. And so, so strong. I had covered my arms in testers and all I could smell was this. There is one overpowering element that bothers me terribly. I probably do not like the patchouli.

Saw this today and really wanted to get it but couldn’t spend $50 at the moment 🙁

  20. :

A recent blind buy, I couldn’t resist when I saw Jimmy Choo. Oh my STARS, what a lovely gourmand scent. The prominent notes of orange, candied orange, and buttery toffee shine forth within minutes of spraying. Then, as it sits on the skin, you’re left with mostly toffee and patchouli. On me, I know better not to wear this in warmer weather. But since the forecast calls for cooler weather with some rain a head, I’m going to be cozying up to this one for as long as I can.

Stars – Pure toffee heaven! It is a beautiful note and it stands out gorgeously in this fragrance. I though the original was interesting and it smelled wonderful on my mother but something didn’t set well with me. Now this one, this one is perfect on me.
The candid orange and the citrus notes linger and mix up well throughout the wear. I think any toffee or caramel lover will enjoy this fragrance which is less green and a bit sweeter than the original JC.
BTW the sillage and longevity are superb.

I love the EDP of Jimmy Choo, I even have the Pure Parfum. I am into syrupy sweet, gourmands, spicy vanillas, etc… And I had to try this. (Blind buy, I live in the middle of nowhere). I found a decent price on Amazon, and went for it.
I’m a bit disappointed, even tho I do like this. It really is close to the original EDP. I thought by substituting the pear for orange would really make a difference, and I wanted a potent candy orange bomb, but this is really really similar to the EDP. But that being said, I do like it.
I also agree it’s smoother/creamier and less screechy than the EDP. I can tell there is orange instead, but it’s not the sweet candied orange I hoped for.

  23. :

    3 out of 5

Cheap blind buy. Very similar to original Jimmy Choo EDP. I also purchased EDT and Exotic, so I will try those on next. I like Stars, but I expected there to be more of a difference than the original. It is a bit sweeter though! Happy with it for the price!

  24. :

This is very close to original, imo. Original has a bit more patchouli and not as well blended. This one seemed to have sweet fruit note on top as well. I think I prefer this but if you already have original I woudnt bother
I also heard it compared to Flowerbomb which i don’t think remsebles it at the slightest

This is my favorite fragrance of all time. It’s so sweet and warm and a bit more grown up than the original.
    I know this is a limited edition…
but I read that it might be added to the wardrobe permanently due to its success.
Does anyone know what’s going on here? Because I need to stock up if it’s still limited.

  27. :

This is amazing. Like some other reviewers, it was what I was hoping the original Jimmy Choo EDP was going to be from reading notes. The patchouli in this one is so much better blended and quieter. Though there is an initial blast of strong, prickly patch right after spraying, it quickly settles down into a candied orange toffee, with patchouli waaaaaay in the background until far into the drydown. Regarding sillage: my son was standing a few feet away from me about two hours after applying this, and said “Wow, Mom, you smell so good!” –so that lets me know this truly does have sillage within about arm’s length.
I had the original Jimmy Choo EDP for a while but swapped it away–the patchouli was too prickly and sharp. The Stars edition, however, will be staying in the perfume wardrobe for good!

  28. :

    4 out of 5

I received a decant of this in a swap and was very curious about it. I quite like the original fragrance but this one is way more aggressive and I agree with a reviewer below me. To this date it doesn’t quite sit right with me and my body chemistry. It’s a toffee, orange mess with a heavy dose of the modern sweet patchouli. However, as we all know: It sure can be lovely on others! My decant is a 10ml glass sprayer – message me if you’re interested. I also have more to swap/give away the link is in my profile. 🙂

This is such a yummy, gourmand scent that is actually quite appropriate for daytime wear. Definitely a cold-weather fragrance, I wore it to work today and was surrounded by a wonderful cloud of toffee, orange, and patchouli goodness! I couldn’t wait to get home and spray more on myself (without worrying about asphyxiating anyone around me!) It is incredibly long-lasting, 8 hours at least on my skin. A very successful blind buy!

  30. :

    4 out of 5

This one required several tries to still find it’s fruity beginning loud and unblended on my skin. There is something calling to me in this fragrance and I want to love it. I saved a tester card to compare.
WOW. Now I know what was calling to me. Give it a day and the patchouli is to DIE for! Powdery, brown earthy, yet lightly sweet. The card continued to permeate my whole room all week, baking in the sun. This leads me to believe it is best in warm weather, at least if you want good sillage.
If this rested well on my skin it would be at the top of my favorites list. Jimmy Choo fragrances all seem to have a similar dirty goodness and slightly powdery vanilla in the dry down, but it only appears after a long wait on testers or cloth. Mmm, rich and good, but I will have to smell it on someone else.
    Good sillage and lasting power.

I have been shopping for new perfumes lately. My all time favorite is Nina by Nina Ricci. I can’t get enough of the yummy scent. I finally ran out of it last summer and sad to discover that its been discontinued. I just bought this Jimmy Choo perfume called “Stars”. Its supposed to be a Limited Edition. I smelled this perfume last week at Ulta and it reminded me of Root Beer. I finally bought after Mothers Day. At first I thought I wouldn’t like it but the scent grew on me. I love the sweet scent. I can definitely smell the Caramel and Toffee in it. There are times when it smelled like D&G #3 Imperatrice or sometimes it almost smelled similar to Miss Dior EDT. It smells so heavenly and lovely. I’m so glad I bought it and loved it. The scent lasted over night. The opening, I could smell the Caramel and Toffee immediately. Its a little strong at first but I still love it. Its addictive. The ending scent smells quite fresh, fruity and feminine. This is now one of my favorite perfume scent.

Ever heard the song “Stars” by Erika Jayne? That’s what plays in my head when I smell this, like the song, it’s smooth, dreamy, and projects loudly like a house style song in a night club. I get a whiff of actual candied oranges and a creamy dry down with hints of toffee. Sweet? Totally! Teeny bopper sweet? No, not really, great perfume for a night at the dance club or just going out for a good time. Wouldn’t recommend this in Super Sunny weather, it would be to sickly sweet like syrup, this is more of of a night time scent

No like – on me, a strictly 2 dimensional woody sweet. It’s like smoked, wet (partially rotted) wood drenched in sugar syrup. I love sweet but this is not a good mix at all.

Just when I have finally made this my new signature fragrance I find out it is limited edition. Such sad news! This is one of my all-time favorites. What a flirty, sophisticated scent it is! Stars is extremelly well blended and you can definitely smell the sweet orange note right after application, even though toffee is the strongest note and the one that lasts longer. Matter of fact, toffee is all you can smell after a few couple of hours, but hey, it’s more than ok to me since I love it and my fiancée seems to love caramel too! This scent is definitely very sweet even though it doesn’t smell too obvious. I mean, it is not cotton candy sweet by any means. It has something to it that makes you feel totally chic and sophisticated. It might be the candied orange note (which is by the way far more pleasant than the peach note from their previous signature scent). I also must comment on that AMAZING patchouli note that comes to life a few minutes after you apply Stars to your skin. It is extremely warm and sultry and definitely brings everything together, making this fragrance a more adult, intriguing one. If you’re looking for something in order to smell sophisticated rather than cheap, I have just given you the answer. Stars is an amazing creation by Jimmy Choo and I consider it, beyond any doubt, a state of art fragrance.

  37. :

It’s OK, but boring to my nose. It’s very linear on me. I get toffee scented orange. Period. I like my perfumes with a bit more depth. I think I will try layering it with Casran. I need a bit more spice with my sweet.
I should have tested before buying!

  38. :

    5 out of 5

I love this fragrance and I have a feeling that it’s going to become my signature. I’ve already purchased three bottles because I know it’s a limited edition and I know this is something I will always adore. I disagree with the popular opinion that this smells very similar to the original Jimmy Choo. Stars is much warmer. More sultry… More sexy… More mysterious. In my opinion the original smells very soapy and I did not detect that at all with stars.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

On me, Jimmy Choo Stars smells quite similar to the original Jimmy Choo EDP: the buttery toffee is dominant in both compositons. The main noticeable difference is the slightly powdery candied orange in Stars, instead of the juicy pear.
In the drydown, Stars also seems to be slightly more milky. But I have to admit that, without comparing them side by side, I probably will have difficulties in telling them apart.
The sillage is moderate and the longevity is at least 8 hours. Although I love the creamy toffee in Stars just as the original Jimmy Choo EDP, I find they’re just too similar. But still, as a gourmand fragrance with a very satisfying creamy texture, I think it worths a try.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

This one is the love of my life. Too bad is a limited edition. :(. Good things never last.
If anyone has an idea where I can find this online in Europe, let me know.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

It’s uplifting and the orange is bright, the toffee is stunning, it’s not overly sweet and the patchouli is nicely mingled and grounding.
However, I’m so glad I only purchased a 5ml decant. It’s really, really pretty, but the Stars version is just too similar to the original Jimmy Choo to justify buying a full bottle.
Had this come out first, I might have purchased it instead, but I already own a full bottle of the original.
This sample will last me a year.

  42. :

Does anyone else feel that this is an upgraded, more mature version of Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb? I do enjoy the later for spring and early fall, but I’m in love with Stars for late spring through winter. I love this fragrance. If you also enjoy Coco Mademoiselle then you’ll love this one, too. Stars is not overly sweet, instead it’s sexy and clean. I agree with the other poster that it’s closer to Kate Walsh’s Billionaire Boyfriend (which I also love) but with softer notes.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

I do like this fragrance but it isn’t a love one for me. Very unique and strong. The toffee is definitely a strong note, and in my opinion because more apparent through the day. Very similar to the original. Happy with this one but it isn’t a love.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

I got this as an early Christmas gift and I was disappointed when I smelled it. It is a strong scent and I don’t get any fruit at all, mostly woody patchouli and a musky toffee. I will keep it though because it was a gift from my better half and he likes the smell on me. 🙂
Update: after wearing this for a couple of days I’ve grown to like it more and more. It is kind of addictive actually! I enjoy the sweetness of the drydown more than the opening spray, but I detect more of the orange smell now after wearing it a few times. It is definitely an interesting and unique fragrance!
This stays on my skin for 8 hours +… I spray some on in the late evening and I can still smell it the next day!

  45. :

    3 out of 5

I really like the patchouli in this one, I know there is a very fruity part too, and I wish it was less intense, but all in all, very pleasant scent and rather inoffensive!

  46. :

    3 out of 5

I so wanted to love Jimmy Choo and I do appreciate it, but that dreaded patchouli note in it is keeping me at bay. JC Stars, however, seems to have a more well-behaved patchouli note and when I did a quick sniff of it out of curiosity, it really did give me cause for pause, LOL! I think I need to re-sniff and possibly even spray it on me to see just how it develops on my skin…

  47. :

    4 out of 5

In love with this fragrance! has that Benzoin thing going that really works with my skin chemistry.
it’s has a reminder of a home fragrance I got once and could never find again very pricy. for this glass vase that you light up and then when blown out leaves the entire house smelly fabulous.

  48. :

    5 out of 5

I almost liked this at first. It’s not sickening, but I’ve smelt it on basic retail workers many times before (not this exact bottle as it’s new, but this fragrance family). It’s like wet bark with candy. Neither sexy nor professional. Pass.

  49. :

    4 out of 5

This is very fresh & zesty at the beginning but soon warms up to it’s toffee gourmand DNA & does last beautifully.
I can see it more suited for colder seasons but going into Summer where I live & being 28 degrees today , it does wear well as a sparkling sweet solar scent …maybe it’s the orange top note?
However, this scent just kept reminding me of something else I have – I racked my fragrance memories for an hours whilst walking around with a tester sprayed on me…..Fragonard’s Miranda!!!! & yes I went home & sprayed that one on the other arm as a control test.
Miranda has the vanilla & coconut notes to sweeten & warm it up but Stars is by far the definitely sweeter contender.
I like it…but Miranda will have to suffice until it’s gone.

I hated the other Jimmy Choo but I love this, it’s perfect for winter. I fee
Like this smells like Kate Walsh Boyfriend so I need to do a side by side soon. But love this and need a bottle soon.

  52. :

Very nice, picked up a sample of this from Sephora, must say I like it moreover the original yet this pretty much is the same, This deff. states it’s Jimmy Choo but w/o pear & not as pungent, this is slightly subtler & smoother && more seductive, what comes to play here is a sweety toffee scent candied with orange, very lovely & very Choo, this IMO is what the original should’ve been. Longevity = fantastic sillage I imagine people will have no problems smelling it (I’ll do a crowd test when I’m out this weekend). This is the Choo I’ve been wanting so it made it to the wants it’ll be perfect & delicious for the colder months, but why the name “Stars”?! I mean it a nice name don’t get me wrong but…I feel it’s not too different from the orig. to have a brand new name, eh wutevz…I guess it does shine && make you feel like one, haa! try it out! ;D
    Overall: 9/10

  53. :

    5 out of 5

Pleasant scent, not overly sweet. On me when I 1st sprayed it I though ‘ohh this is nice’ nothing overwhelming but good. Starts of sweet but not sickly then drys down to sherbet (on me) wich again isn’t unpleasant & then you get the real scent that comes through & it’s really nice. But then all off a sudden its gone, it takes about a half hour to get the true scent but after an hour it’s gone very faint & not really there which is a real shame 🙁

  54. :

    3 out of 5

Yummy toffee scent! Moreover, it is not too sweet, it is just delicious! Absolutely cozy so perfect for cold season.
However, to be honest with you, I can smell very intense toffee and not much of other notes. I think you have to like sweet scents to be able to fall in love with this one.
Finally Jimmy Choo created the scent that is as fabulous as his shoes…
Update: A bit too much toffee for me.

  55. :

    4 out of 5

    Absolutely delicious!
I’m surprised how well-blended it is! Very sweet, no sharp edges. The drydown is amost identical to the original edp but I can definitely smell the oranges. It will depend on your body chemistry, I think on some people the orange note may be dominant. Good!
But why the heck did they name it Stars? o.O
Edit: Yay! Even better than the original!!

  56. :

    4 out of 5

I finally tried this today at Ulta. I really like this a lot! It definitely has the same traits as the original Jimmy Choo, but I feel that there is much more of an orangey vibe to it and when it dries down, the orange note is very dominant. I will most definitely purchase this at some point in the future.

  57. :

    5 out of 5

So I finally tried this today what a wonderful scent this is!
The toffee note is quite prominent in this version you can really smell its sweetness also the candied oranges are a lovely addition to the fragrance.
Very good flanker indeeed I think it will be perfect in cooler weather because it’s quite heavy.
If you enjoy scents with toffee this is a good choice cause it’s sweet but also very smooth not cloying at all
Sillage and longevity are both very good Stars goes straight on my Must Have list.

  58. :

Ahh! Jimmy Choo EDP without that pear note! It’s like a dream has come true. While I quite like an original perfume, I could not stand a caramelized pear note.
This one smells amazing! It is very well-rounded. Absolutely delicious candied oranges are well balanced with sensual sandalwood and patchouli notes. The result is quite sweet, but not a headache inducing. I agree with Marcello19, it has X-masy vibe and makes you smile. Stars? Noo… Endorphins! 🙂

  59. :

This is wonderful ! I just bought it in duty free at Stansted and I absolutely love it !!!
It is even more sweet than the original edp – definitely smells of candied orange , toffee and patchouli. I am a big fan of sweet perfumes and this one has stole my heart completely !!!
It is very warm, sweet and feminine just perfect for autumn and winter season <3
I wanted to get Armani Si Intense but this Jimmy has won me over . This fragrance is perfection 🙂

This is already out in the UK. I tried it on Saturday at my local Boots and it really is a nice fragrance. You can certainly smell the toffee. Definitely a winter gourmand and worth trying.

  61. :

    5 out of 5

According to parfumo.net it also has patchouli and sandalwood too. The original Jimmy also had orchid an toffee, so the only new note here must be the candied orange. Sounds great for me, slightly X-masy.

  62. :

    3 out of 5

Bottle is exactly the same as regular Jimmy Choo so are some of the notes I can only assume this will be richer with toffee and orchid. Not a bad thing
EDIT no news yet on when this is gonna be launched?
