Description

Signature Sonia Rykiel perfume was presented in 1997 as an oriental fragrance for women, designed by Emilie (Bevierre) Copperman. It opens with black currant, pineapple, mandarin, ylang-ylang and passion flower. As it dries down, it opens the heart of honeysuckle, rose, lily-of-the-valley, violet, jasmine, rosemary, iris and patchouli, base notes involving sandalwood, cedar, tonka, vanilla, amber and benzoin into the composition. Alain de Mourges designed the bottle, available as 30 and 50 ml edp and 7, 5 ml perfume extract. The nose behind this fragrance is Emilie (Bevierre) Coppermann.

Anyone looking to buy this one? Have it almost brand new (used few times).
I’m from new yrk and will be happy to find it a loving home.

This used to be my signature scent all through the 80’s. and it used to give soooooo many compliments. It has a sweet, almost burnt caramel vibe, so different to anything else. I also detect a mandarin like smell, just lovely. x

Not a fresh pineapple, more like baked pineapple with a cinnamon and vanilla sprinkle. I can certainly tell that the benzoin is in there. The patchouli is subdued, but present. For some reason, the rosemary stands out to me as well. I don’t think I am going to hold on to it, but it is most certainly not bad.

I’ve worn this daily for the past 6 years now. Friends and family always complimented and asked what I was wearing. This fragrance is delicious, uplifting, yummy and lively!! Sadly, I’m down to a few drops and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I must say this will always be one of my few favorites.

This was/is such a yumster. I don’t know if I don’t get close enough to people when I’m wearing fragrance, or if I’m not wearing the right ones, or what, but this is one of the few scents I’ve worn in life that I’ve gotten a compliment on. I think I have good taste, what is THAT about? Haha!! This is a special beauty. I wore this one down to the *bone*, like plowed through the bottle in record time, I think I had a 1.7 oz back in 2000 and was probably done with it by 2001-2002, which is saying a lot for me, as 80% of the stuff on my shelves now is about 10-12 years old.
Bright. Floral-fruit-opulent-candy-bouquet. Quiet party, cocktails with perpetual buzz but never drunk. Giddy. Romance. High. Flirty. Suggestive. Teasing. Delicious. Just delicious. Never syrupy, never over-doing it. If this scent were makeup, you’d say “Dammnit, how did you do that so perfectly, and not look overly done up?” If it were an outfit, you’d wonder why you don’t wear colors so bold and so flirty and feminine more often, and go home and reconsider your gray and black wardrobe. Brava, Rykiel. You make it so fun being a girl.

I was v unhappy when I got this.Couldn’t stand it ,now I know why : bcs of the pineapple !
But , as it is oily and has a good lasting power ,thus a great base for creating something else , I am using it with other fumes that need some improvement (i.e. Diva which is too strong and disturbing for my taste).

I Am going to write most bizzare review ever probably, but I got such a big smile when I received this cute bottle, so forgive my sentiments.
Its my chidlhood Christmas memories – all in one. I know what notes are, theoretically I should write that I smell pineapple, patchouli and so on!
But practically I dont smell them! What do I smell is my Grandfather 25 years ago brought most beautiful green-tree from the forest, and I admired that beauty’s resinous frosty scent that much, that while adults were sorting toys to hang,I was thoughfully chewing pine needles…Why I decided to taste it I have no idea but since then Christmas smell to me is smell of chewed needles from green-tree and dried skin from mandarins. Also hand-made caramel, wrapped in paper and hanged on green-tree, so you can secretely come and eat it from time to time, leaving emptied paper-shell to create an impression its a whole sweetie.
Happy times, happy scent, sweet, balsamic and childlish in a best possible way.

I agree with boardbat, when I first put this on I got a big warm peppery blast (I have the EdT), that then settled into a pineappley, vanillary floral. It’s pleasant, but after two hours it develops a soapy undercurrent that somehow lies closer to the skin than the flowers, and the pineapple and vanilla disappear. It’s nice, but it remains to be seen whether it’s a long-term relationship.

  10. :

    5 out of 5

there may be no pepper listed in this, but that is exactly what i get at first blast. then strangely not long after, it settles down to a moderately strong vanilla floral. not bad at all. lasting power and sillage are both average on me. i really don’t feel the connection with flower bomb at all. i’ll enjoy this for fall and winter.

Was not too keen when I first started using this perfume, but it eventually became one of my favourites. In my opinion it was extremely powerful and very musky and spicy, reminded me very much of the middle east, but when it wore offf it left one of the most lovely scents. Sadly it finished just when I was getting used to it. I will definitely buy again.

I looove this!!! I rediscovered this gem; I had this one from a couple of months ago and didn’t pay any attention to it. Today I wore it and WOW!, this one is such a delicious scent. Spicy, sweet and with a great lasting power; an elegant and unique scent. The dry down is divine!!! LOVE IT!

Oh dear, I think the mini I bought on French Ebay has long gone off. The top notes are horribly fusty and curry-like, and not at all what I remember from this fragrance when it first came out (it was the first perfume my DH ever bought for me in France). But – I applied it at night and this morning, it’s lovely. Glad now that I didn’t scrub it off. The base notes haven’t corrupted at all and smell as sweet and vanilla-y as ever. I will now try to track down a better version of this perfume and see if I can take that trip down memory lane.

This is one of my favorites! I have a mini EDT and I love it from top to bottom:)! it smells kinda unisex to me as well..very unique scent, makes me feel special every time I wear it:)I only wish I had a bigger bottle, that’s all I can say.

Rich, sweet, fruity and oriental, with excellent sillage and lasting power. A perfect oriental for floral-fruity lovers, and a perfect floral-fruity for oriental lovers.
I’m not usually one for pineapple, but somehow SR has presented pineapple in all its glory here, capitalizing on its natural joyfulness.
Though caramel isn’t listed here in the notes, I can’t imagine anything delivering a more satisfying caramel fix than this one.

  16. :

    3 out of 5

This perfume varies in the type of concentration. The EDT has quite a strong pineapple.
The EDP is very much resembling Flowerbomb, but much stronger.
The pure perfume is a strong version of the EDP but a bit thicker too.

  17. :

    5 out of 5

i can t see any similarity to flowerbomb at all. from where this copmparasion comes out??? they have a completaly different character and wearing sensation to me. maybe the caramelish sweetness is fooling with some noses?
this is a sweet and warm plain oriental while flowerbomb is rather floral with an oriental touch.
the pinapple note is indeed strong here and reminds of angel, but not the entire blend.
the perfume does not change a lot but this is not because it’s linear, no no, it is because it’s very well blendet. each time i sniff my wrist i can detect a slight change but all notes are very nice overlapping each other. indeed it becomes better and better. now 30 min on and it keeps sparkling in different facettes.
Sonia Rykiel is a classic from the late 90’s. a very typical modern perfume for this period. they started to do vanilla-orientals with fruity and exotic touch, instead of punguent overdone spices and animalistic aromas.
i would put sonia rykiel rather in the coin with obsession from CK, but this one is not than heavy and edgy as obsession and shurely easier to wear. it’s soft, juicy, very warm and sensual.
i like it but wouldn t buy, because it’s rather boring to my nose. i was used to wear those scents for 10 years and now i’m more in floral-fruity-gourmands.
now for the lasting power it is indeed exellent, it’s never overpowering but it’s there and it stays and stays.
i wish the perfumes nowdays would have sillage and lasting power from the 80’s and 90’s perfumes.

This stuff is lethal and I mean that in a good way. FABULOUS beyond words..at first I was not a big fan of this but after wearing it a few times, I have become a full blown addict. This stuff takes so many turns on your skin it is insane. And the lasting power is unparalleled! I got 12+ hours out of this and it smelled even more delicious after all that time had passed! I am having a really hard time finding this out there so I am assuming it must be discontinued??? If anyone knows where to buy this other than on eBay, please pm me I would be forever grateful!

I dont see how this could smell like flowerbomb.. flower bomb has far fewer notes.. … This doesn’t even contain tea.. which is a big part of flowerbomb or any orchid.. And this has pinapple?? flowerbomb has no such note.. or orris or passion flower (which is very fragrant) or orange or blackberry or rosemary.
And to the comment that it’s just like angel ..plus some pineapple. There IS pinapple in angel in fact it’s a very noticable note

My all time favorite. This cute bottle holds little magic that instantly makes me feel beautiful. The scent lasts and lasts and seems to get even better with time. Love it.

What I remember of this perfume is the lingering caramel… caramel… note. It felt sweet-edible but somehow dry, like hard toffy. I recon it’s SR’s base, which is complex (6 nuances). I like complex bases!
I wouldn’t say this scent is linear but rather consistent, whole. I loved this perfume but can’t find it in my location anymore. Happy you who can enjoy its warmth.

I just bought an EDT and it doesn’t remind me of Angel at all. To me it’s similar to Cacharel libertine but with more soft-oriental aura, less fruity and more vanilla. I never tested Flowerbomb so I don’t know how it compares.
I have to say that I really like it, it’s a “sunny and happy” fragrance, but the thing is it doesn’t last long on me :(. (Is it just my skin or is it due to the fact that it’s an EDT?!)
Anyway, I prefer it over Rykiel Woman (too mature)

You are amazing Fragrance-Magic!!! MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY!!!
I bought myself the entire fragrance line of Sonia Rykiel (EDT, EDP and pure perfume) and when I smell Flowerbomb in the store I think ‘It is just lighter…why should I buy it??’
    🙂

This one reminds me of an Angel by Mugler, but much more weaker and softer. if you can´t fully appreciate Angel then try this one, maybe it will suit you better.

What is the point having this many notes, if the result is oooooofffffff vanilla???

  26. :

    3 out of 5

I had the same experience as c3c and bloodflower. The top notes are OK but when it came to the dry down it is gross and unpleasant (IMHO). The body chemistry has nothing to do with it – it smells the same on fabrics and paper.

This one is a sign scent for my granny. I’ve recently bought a third 50 ml bottle for her. This one is not mine, but it’s unique and if it’s yours – my congratulations, it’s “love forever”.

  28. :

Most of the charm of Sonia Rykiel EDT lies in the top notes. Fresh green pineapple, tart black currant and a hint of passionflower combine to make this extremly more-ish.
The iris and cedar do come through a little but this is pretty much fruity floral.
Sonia Rykiel is a fairly linear scent for me and I find that it the pineapple in particular gets tedious after a while. In fact, I was so over it by lunchtime that I went to spritz myself with some Hypnose instead. Fortunately,
Sonia’s sillage is low and longevity is maximum 4 hours so there was no cross-pollination.

Like tropical fruit liquer, it is very sweet, syrupy, and indulgent. Stays sweet and strong through the heart, but hours later it dries down to a quiet tonka-vanilla base.

The perfect winter fragrance! This perfume is the only reason I’m excited about the comeback of cold days 🙂
What others would call “messy”, I’d call -perfectly blended.
Juicy pineapple notes open this beautiful floriental which gets spicier and warmer with time.
It is very feminine, as sexy as your favourite cashmere sweater worn with nothing underneath 😉

  33. :

    5 out of 5

Passion flower and spice dipped in orange marmalade…Ok.
    I don’t enjoy it.I believe it’s messy.
I agree with the reviewers mentioning similarities with something very familiar as it dries down.It could be JPGaultier..Mix it with Dali-Dalimania and you get Rykiel…
Confusing. Not a perfume that sends a clear message,or feels really intoxicating or has a clear artistic vision…Dizzy.

It gets me down on my knees for the first hour. After that time, it starts smelling somehow masculine and soapy.
The opening is really sexy, actually reminds me a lot of Carolina Herrera Sexy 212.
It is actually the first perfume in my life I did love as far as opening was concerned and after an hour suddenly disliked it.
Not really worth trying, nothing spectacular, but most importantly, after an hour there is absolutely nothing feminine about it.
Worth having if you like masculine fragrances though 🙂

  35. :

    4 out of 5

sonia rykiel starts out strong, not delicate but powerful, kind of artificial may be, iris. patchouli, ylang ylang, rosemary are strong i get no rose, pineapple, white flowers, and the most turning off factor for me is the drydown, it smells like mens cologne, very masculine. nothing exquisite about this one.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

For me it is the upgrade on Flowerbomb.I have it in every concentration, and I ADORE it…

  37. :

    4 out of 5

SONIA RYKIEL opens very orange, so orange, in fact, that it immediately transports me back to Sevilla, with its abundant, overloaded naranjos, shimmering under the hot Spanish sun.
The oranges in SR are studded with a few spices and lightly sprayed with vanilla. The trees are flanked by planks of cedar and sandalwood, and tiny flowers pepper the path down which I am leisurely strolling, breathing in all of this beauty.
The drydown of SR reminds me of something that I have tried but do not own–it could be COCO MADEMOISELLE. In any case, the orange opening sets SONIA RYKIEL apart and makes me want to return to Andalucia again!

My 11 year old daughter told me she doesn’t like this one she said to her it smells like Angel and now I can kind of smell that it sort of does. She uses one of my perfumes every day before school but she never uses this one!

  40. :

    3 out of 5

It took me awhile to decide on this one. It is spicy and warm, however I really feel like I’m wearing a mens cologne when I have it on. If my boyfriend didn’t dislike it so much I’d ask him to try it. I think it would smell great on a guy, but it’s not feminine enough for me.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

Rykiel Woman is all about seduction and intimacy, this one is all about happines and joyness. SR serves very young, chilled fragrance with little touch of Angel-note allure. Firstly, it bursts with pinneaple and fresh orange, then as times come it changes into spicy, more sensual spirit. Sonia’s sweater is like funny-seductive veil, it has cosy warm and popping kicks in the same time.
There’s no manner to not like this totally crazy, lovely perfume with parisian wink 🙂

at first spritz, this perfume comes out a bit strong..though i like a bit strong perfumes..:-) after a few minutes, this settle into a very warm, unique, elegant and spicy smell, which agreed to my body chemistry and have a long lasting power of around 8-10hours..

I found a 1.7 oz of this at a fragrance store at the mall.It was a tester and full for $4.95 so I bought it and man let me say that this is a very warm sweet and luscious scent,I would bathe in this stuff.I have a few other by Sonia Rykiel but nothing comes close to this it is really nice really really nice!

It makes me happy. When I wear this frag I sniff my wrists all day long.

I am wearing this one regularly. It is sweet but not too spicy as some orientals can be. I love the jasmin & amber notes which seem to last longest on me. Very warm and comfortable.

  48. :

I was testing this one and Belle en Rykiel for the last week or so. The Sonia Rykiel fragrance was very lackluster on me. Pronounced sweet pineapple notes for about an hour, and then it was gone in a flash. Darn! I was very much looking forward to that beautiful woody/oriental dry-down, but I never made it there. If I didn’t know this was an Oriental, I would have classified it as a fruity-floral based on its performance.
Must come down to chemistry. Flowerbomb is getting a lot of comparisons to Sonia Rykiel. I get a wonderful creamy floral effect with Flowerbomb and it lasts much longer on my skin than the Rykiel does.

A warm and very unique and distintive perfume where the “flower bomb” by Viktor and Rolf has such quite close similarity but without the intense body and lasting power of this fragrance.
