Description

Lancaster is launching the limited summer edition SOL DA BAHIA which can freely be worn in the sun because it does not contain photo-toxic molecules in the new composition. The new fragrance does not contain UVA and UVB filters as sun protection, but the fragrance is created not to cause reactions on the skin under the influence of bright sun rays. The fragrant composition is created of exotic scents of coconut water mixed with light citrusy lemon drops decorated with beautiful tiare flowers, sensual musk and soft vanilla.

The new fragrance is a part of the summer sunscreen collection by the house of Lancaster whose products are decorated by Anglo-Brazilian duo Clements Ribeiro.
The composition of Sol Da Bahia draws its inspiration from rich scents of Brazil. A blend of citruses, coconut and musk leaves a sensual trail on the skin and can be used even when the sun is strongest without any risk for the skin. Lancaster Sol da Bahia is available in glass flacons with colorful illustrations of Brazilian flora, embellished with tropical flowers and leaves of various sorts. The fragrance arrives as 100ml l’eau d’ete limited edition, and its price is about 54,50 Eur. Besides the summer water, the offer includes shower gel and body lotion with the same fragrant notes.
Sol da Bahia Eau d’Ete was launched in 2014.

I get the notes of this perfume, pretty much right in order as they’re listed on the pyramid. Sunny lemon, followed by tiare and coconut (more tiare than coconut IMO but that’s just what I think) and then brought up at the rear by musky vanilla.
This is a great fragrance for throwing in your beach bag & just not thinking about it too hard. It’s not groundbreaking or hypnotic but it IS summery, lovely, a little zingy and refreshing, and just puts me in a good mood.
Also it says on the bottle it “can be worn in the sun.” So that’s, uh, nice, I guess? Maybe you’re like me and you live on the edge by just wearing any old perfume in the sun, any time… well, you can feel good about this one, apparently!
Other pros: you can find a huge bottle for a small price, which is nice when you’re spraying with abandon, like I do. I even spray this around my office when I need a lift. The price point is right.
to sum up: a perfectly pleasant and very pretty tropical-feeling summer perfume that’s entered my hot-weather rotation. It doesn’t blow my mind, but sometimes you don’t need your mind to be blown, you just want to smell pretty. This does the trick.

I have just ordered this perfume online this morning so I am looking forward to trying it as it’s summer here in New Zealand and it’s been some of the warmest temperatures on record. I need a scent that is not over the top in this heat and where I can wear it and it doesn’t come off smelling ghastly. I hope that I don’t smell like pickles as one reviewer mentioned. Will update when I get it.
    Update
Well it arrived via the courier about ten minutes ago and I love it. It’s a warm day here and it’s smelling slightly caramel with the coconut on my arm with hints of lemon. It’s subtle and not overpowering at all and is a very nice fragrance to wear on a day like today. Very happy with this one and I love both its packaging and the bottle itself. I wish I had worn this in Bali. Reminds me of more subtle small roll on bottle of a Miss Selfridge perfume I used to wear. No sour pickles on me!

Another pretty and wearable summer perfume from this line. Though clearly I prefer Sole di Capri over this one, I find the blend of coconut and flowers is balanced so that this one isn’t a thick summer coconut oil lotion scent but a soft uncomplicated beach safe cologne veil. With a tempting price tag too. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

This tropical fragrance is gorgeous. The lemon, vanilla , musk , and tiare flowers are all blended so well with the coconut. There is not too much coconut, just the right amount. When you wear this fragrance, and you close your eyes on the first initial spray, you feel that you are transported to the most beautiful exotic island and all the notes in this fragrance are wafting in a gentle, soft breeze. Love it.

Tropical and easy to wear, neither sickly not too salty skin like (My other beachy perfume is L’artisan Batucada and it just goes sooo musky salty skin on me it’s tough to wear at work in the drydown)
Today the skies are grey and I’ve experimented with a foundation that’s turned me somewhat orange. Oops. Sod it, let’s call it tanned, slap on some beachy perfume and reminisce about summer!
Coconut with quite lush florals here, don’t get a lot of citrus thankfully or much musk. Not bad, it certainly fills the gap in my collection!

It has gone dark way too soon today, but then again it is winter. I just bought this although summer is still a distant dream, the worst of winter still yet to come. The packaging looks beautiful and even before I begin to unwrap the clear film from the box, I am impressed… because I did not pay all that much for this yet the product already feels expensive and well made. Just as clearly as I can hear the wrapping unfold, I can also hear the sound of rain drops against my window and I think to myself.. ‘This better bring out the sun’
The name of this perfume and the designs on the packaging are both beautiful and they both hint towards the more sunny, exotic, bright and cheerful.
The bottle looks understated, simple and some how very elegant. It does not scream for attention yet it has it’s own allure. A very hip look, it would most certainly not look out of place in a surf girls hand bag and it somehow looks very attractive without meaning to be.
My hopes are high at this point but then I once again remind myself, I paid a bargain price for this so technically, if we get what we pay for, ‘Sol Da Bahia’ should be average at best. I was wrong…
If you love creamy, luxurious and tropical scents you will love this. Coconut as one other reviewer has said is certainly the star of the show. A resort I used to work at called Kuredu Island Resort & Spa used to do a spa treatment called Maldivian Island Paradise and this is what I imagine the treatment would leave you smelling like. I do not want to say this but I think it smells very similar to Escada: Born in Paradise which is one of my fave perfumes but costs considerably more. Born in Paradise is an absolute fave of mine as it also reminds me of home, but this is closer to the truth! If I compare Born in Paradise to Sol Da Bahia, I would compare them to post cards from Paradise. Escada being the post card that has been airbrushed, gentrified, edited using photoshop so that most people would like it where as Sol Da bahia is a picture of Paradise as is, is much closer to the real thing!! It is creamy, indulgent, heavenly and authentic!!
I think I will be wearing this often, even when it is rainy because I imagine this will cheer me up as it reminds me of brighter days!
Ps: The coconut takes middle stage during the dry down and the other notes are coming into play and it is …. pure heaven.

What a pretty scent. Coconut is the star of this show for me but the supporting cast of tiare flower and lemon has enough spirit and oomph that it stops it being just a linear, everyday coconut scent. And stops it from having that nauseating element which coconut sometimes has.
Huge, very pretty bottle as well for not much money. And apparently it is safe to wear in the sun if you like that sort of thing.
    Tropical/sun holiday/vacation scent for sure.
Longevity not up to much but sillage pretty good and affordable enough that you can reapply as and when you need to.
    Big thumbs up from me.

Even though it’s months away from summer, this morning, it being a bright, crisp, sunny day, I thought I’d give this a trial run (having only bought it at the beginning of the week) It’s lovely..light, non-headache inducing, fresh and ever so slightly tropical.. I have a White Company Seychells candle and it reminds me so much of that.. Can’t wait to wear it in warmer weather 🙂

Bought this for £15 and money well spent lovely summer coconut fragrance although scent does not last too long on the skin.
