Me too also got this so very beautiful perfume now. It reminds me of Miss Dior Cherie of Dior and Si of Armani.

Yves Rocher So Elixir EDP is heaven for those who enjoy patchouli done with golden depth and sublime balance. I had Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EDT on today from a spray sample vial just to compare the two. I prefer So Elixir over CCM, and yes, there is a similarity.
YR SE is slightly dry from the patchouli, mysterious due to the incense, alluring due to the rose/jasmine combination, and sweetly feminine due to the tonka. I want to believe the advertising that says YR puts real essential oils and botanicals into this and other YR fragrances. There is something smooth and natural about this fragrance. I’d say… non-chemical. I know it isn’t free of chemicals.
I have read that this may be discontinued. That’s a tragedy. If you love SE, please explore the flankers Purple (tuberose) and Bois Sensuel (vanilla and iris). I agree with a previous reviewer that these are harder to come by and certainly higher priced than they were a year ago.

It smells very very sweet and balmy at first spritz, then in around an hour sweetness tones down with flowers but I can’t pick apart the jasmine and rose they blended well with a creamy feeling. Its drydown is an earthy patchouli with a little spicyness on me. At first I couldn’t come to like it because of sweetness but in a week it grew on me and I began to like.

does anyone know why this has gone up so much in price? It was just a year ago I was able to buy this for about 20$ not even from eBay.. now i’m seeing it for like 40-50$! What’s going on??? anyone ??

This fragrance is growing on me. To me So Elixir by Yve Rocher is a lush old-school oriental, though it’s classified as a chyphre. It reminds me of Tourjours Moi by Coty, which I wore in the 1970s…..Both scents wear best in autumn/winter.

Cheap price in France. Very good fragrance full of feminity. Flowery and sugared. Realy good longevity and sillage.

A very pleasant beginning with bergamot top note but suddenly you find yourself in the middle of the base notes and patchouli overwhelm the rest of the components.

I get amber and vanilla from this, I had to double check the notes and that it was the right version of this, it is, so I am a little puzzled.
This is a little over the top for me, cloying, from smell alone I would sure there was a lot of amber/vanilla.
The dry down gets worse, it begins to smell like a farm. Very odd.

Such a sensual fragrance! I get an inordinate amount of compliments when I wear So Elixer. It is predominately a soft, musky amber. The silage and longevity are very good. If you keep on eye on Yves Rocher’s website, you can get this fragrance for a great price.

Its a beautiful perfume. very long lasting sillage for first 1 or 2 hours is quite heavy after that it becomes moderate. On application it gives a smell of Tonka beans mixed with rose. after dry down on my skin it gives sweet jasmine and patchouli. I love this one.

I can smell the similarity to Coco Mademoiselle. This one is like a sweeter version of it though. Coco Mademoiselle is a litte more spicy. However, there is one big difference; the longevity, which I find really poor unfortunately… I can spray on So Elixir and then after an hour or so it’s almost completely gone, whereas with Coco Mademoiselle it lasts at least a day, sometimes even longer. Such a pity cause I really LOVE the smell of So Elixir as well!

it’s similar to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle my favorite, but i love this one more than Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. Not only it’s cheaper but also it smells more adorable
i can’t believe how come it can replace my previous fave parfume haha !

Whoa! Back up the bus! How is it that I’ve just discovered this gem now? I can’t get enough of this. It makes my mouth water and is seductive at the same time. I can’t decide if it SFW or not yet, so I better not to play it safe. This stuff is dreamy. In fact, I’ve sprayed my sheets with it so it can soothe me to sleep tonight. This is one I will be reaching for again and again! And I just when it couldn’t get any better, it does. I got a full sized bottle for free with my order! I figured it would be a good way to try it out. If it wasn’t for me I’d give it away, but this will be with me for years to come I’m sure. I just love it. A real departure from my SFW vanillas.

Ok, this is like coco mad from Chanel especially at the beginning. However, the middle and dry down for me is a much stronger spiced and sweet patchouli (god I love this type of frag!). Coco mad. is a little softer round the edges and less pungent. Obviously this one is missing the signature Chanel base, but in this case I think I would rather not have it with my patchouli. This still smells good quality though. While I love them both, I ended up getting rid of the Chanel as I think this one sits better with my body chem and preferences. I like a good robust patchouli, and while this one is sweet, the patchouli is still earthy, dirty and authentic smelling. Having said that I don’t find it over powering, silage is quite low and close to the skin even though it lasts quite a long time on me. Top ups will be necessary if you want it to last significantly for the whole day. I love it!

While I don’t find this identical to Coco Mademoiselle, I do find it lovely. At first blast, I smell something very familiar to Coco Mad; must be the way the patchouli comes off because this doesn’t have nearly as much citrus as Coco. The drydown is totally different IMHO. The drydown of Coco is more powdery and musky while this one is more creamy tonka bean. Overall, a beautifully done fragrance. If you like Coco Mad EDP or EDT I really think you will like this. Very unique and not identical but similar enough that I think it would be safe if you like either of those and different enough that owning both is also worth it.

The bottle IS easy to bold. That IS a gréât Thing:)
The smell reminds me of Armani sensi. At first, i thought That fragrance was Way too bold for me ( i AM not crazy about patchouli in général) but the Smell rapidly Seattle down And bécome a Nice rich fragrance. My advice Do not pût too much if you are going to works but (one spray on each wrist Will be enouht) but spray twice if you go out. Some heads might turn !!

Love this. Sensual, longevity, gorgeous and cheap. I’ve tested it by using mini sample 5 ml. I addict this so yesterday I’ve to repurchase it. At first, the smell is litte heavy that makes me dizzy however, then, it’s better and extremely fantastic. It is similar with Chanel Coco Mademoiselle but it’s cheaper. It’s my signature scent.

I bought So Elixir EDT because of its price, reviews, and comparisons to Coco Mademoiselle EDT. I really love Coco Mad, but I don’t know that it agrees with me all the time. Sometimes it comes across heavy and overwhelming, sometimes I can’t smell it at all. When I saw SE on sale I ordered it, figuring the price was low enough to warrant the blind buy.
I am not disappointed. So Elixir is similar to CM, indeed. But I actually like it better. It’s gives me the sexy edge without the weight, all the beguiling character without the moodiness. It’s not fair to say that the two fragrances are identical – really, it does both a disservice. If you’re a die hard Coco M fan I don’t know that So Elixir would suffice as a replacement, but if you’re like me and wanted so much for Coco M to love you but she was just too coy, So Elixir is much more manageable.

Sacrilegous but I think this is way better than Coco Madamoiselle. So Elixir edp is cheap, but you get all the elements of an excellent fragrance. Development, Depth, Sillage, Longevity and that intangible quality of being able to alter/enhance your mood. This is one of the best floral chypres. Smooth, luxe, velvety. Reminds me of Paris, and not because it is found in every street corner/ metro station in that wonderful city, but because just like Paris, there is something in this fragrance that would never get old.

I like this one. First I get no similarity to any other scents but as the time goes by it changes to something that really gets my attention. First it brings in the similarity to Coco Mademoiselle, then about an hour later I get Miss Dior and then finally Jennifer Lopez Still comes out to play! So as I like all three of these I can’t help but wonder why I haven’t bought this?!
It can be heavy at times but it gets lighter.

Between this and So Elixir Purple, I prefer the latter. This one is too strong, too chypre-y, not enough sweet and feminine for my taste. Even as the hours go by, it still doesn’t mellow down. It remains strong from the first spray till you wash it off.
And you have to wash it off, because it’s very long lasting. Excellent sillage too, given the low price. It resembles Coco Mademoiselle at first, but they’re not identical. They’re like cousins, not sisters. Coco Mad smells better and more sophisticated – fresher, a tad sweeter. It may be just my chemistry, but this perfume gave me slight headaches every time I wore it. Gave it to my mom who enjoys it.
Will not repurchase. Its flanker is very good though, I’m on my second bottle of So Elixir Purple.

Another beautiful bottle, gradually sandblasted. It’s details like this that make me fall in love with objects or books… or perfumes.
Lovely, beautiful scent! Quite different from the Elixir Purple, still sensual, intense, full of personality.
Paired with the body lotion it’s long, long lasting. A great choice for my wardrobe!

  24. :

Very feminine scent, the similarity between this and Mademoiselle is obvious but this one is sharper at least on my skin.Very good longevity,it is a fall/winter scent…I like it.

  25. :

I never thought I would like this one, because my impression of Chanel Mademoiselle wasn t a good one, but this one smells great on my skin, it has good sillage and good longevity. I will repurchase!

Earlier I had EDP, now I have EDT and from this two I prefer EDT. Why? It’s more subtle – it smells, not hit in the nose.
It was very long lasting but unfortunatelly scent was to strong for me, sometimes even giving me headache.
Scent is very joyfull and sunny, I liked it very much. I’m happy that Yves Rocher created EDT so I can still have a little sun in a bottle 🙂

My third review from my small collection and at last, one that doesn’t have a squillion notes in it! Initially I smell the bergamot & patchouli, and then at around 15min jasmine and something sweet (I’m guessing the tonka beans). At this point this lovely sultry fragrance has an arm’s length projection. Longevity update @ 3 hours; to my nose I’m still getting a soft almost vanilla-like note – with said nose about an inch away from skin. At around 5 hours, So Elixir is completely gone. I am happy to own a bottle (brand new EDP) of this and will wear it as a casual daytime fragrance … though I will probably not repurchase when it has finished.

I have been puzzling over this limited edition of Yves Rocher SO ELIXIR, as I own a roller ball of the stuff, and the ingredients listed on the box are completely different from those listed on the box of the regular SO ELIXIR eau de parfum. In addition, the viscosity of the limited edition is closer to that of an oil. Actually, it seems like a cross between a thin gel and an oil. Castor oil is listed among the ingredients as is, alas, BHT.
In a side-by-side test, however, I find that the scent of the two is close enough to be identical. My conclusion: the 2011 limited edition was only a limited edition of the bottle, and the reason why the ingredient list differs on the roller ball box is because it is intended to be dabbed rather than sprayed on. Accordingly, my review for SO ELIXIR applies equally well for this “limited edition”, which appears to have been just an excuse for the fanfare and hullabaloo associated with a new launch…
So below is a copy of my post-acquisition review of SO ELIXIR edp:
    ******************
Yves Rocher SO ELIXIR has not really won me over, though I have a bottle to reach for, should the urge suddenly arise. It never does, to be honest, but I’m not sure why. It’s not a bad fragrance, but it’s not all that good, either. It’s less musky than COMME UNE EVIDENCE, while still being less sweet than many modern chypre perfumes of this style, including Chanel COCO MADEMOISELLE and Van Cleef & Arpels ORIENS.
The problem, I think, is essentially vagueness. SO ELIXIR is no doubt intentionally vague, and I’m sure that the six flaring nostrils which collaborated to produce this perfume were clear about their own ideas on what this composition should be. Nonetheless, in the end, the evidently intended vagueness leaves me a bit apathetic toward SO ELIXIR.
On a good day, I rather like SO ELIXIR. On a bad day, I do not. Usually I reach for the perfumes which do not involve such a roll of the dice, unless I happen to have a bath on the horizon, which means that I’ll win either way. On the occasions when SO ELIXIR has not worked on me, it’s because the drydown becomes slightly stale smelling. It’s not a horrible staleness, as is the case for lots of celebrity sworientals and vandalwood frags, but just moving a bit in that direction. This composition definitely lacks the clarity and precision of COCO MADEMOISELLE and ORIENS, and therein lies the basis for the significant difference in price.

This one is unusual for YR – a very untypical scent for those who know YR fragrances well: I almost thought WOW, but only almost: I recalled COCO M and yeah, it’s indeed about 80% the same , and YR are simply missing those 20% of edge and class in their bottle. It has an upbeat fizzy note that makes it energizing, it is versatile in terms of evening- or daywear ( daywear strictly in autumn/winter imho), it is very grownup and ladylike but not old-ladyish ( thanks to jasmin perhaps ) and it stays close to the skin – all good, but it is still missing that elusive special something and I feel awfully bored wearing it. Way too simple and obvious, almost tacky – especially after one has tried Yvresse or COCO M. My husband liked it though and even graced me with a compliment ( which is a very rare occasion in his case when it comes to perfumes ). Nevertheless, I will not be buying it again for its obvious lack of character.

Just after application, well yes it reminds me of Coco Mademoiselle but it’s sharper.
After a while when it settles on skin it becomes a beautiful and delicate aroma.
And the base is just like warm jasmine tea with rose petals.
    Very feminine. Very nice.
It wasn’t love at first sight but now I really love So Elixir.
I would use it with pleasure.

I’ve only worn this a few times, so far. It’s still a little too hot outside for this scent, really. On first spray, it’s very strong and a little too sharp for me. For some reason it reminds me of an old perfume I had as a child (I think it was Harley Davidson; silver bottle with light purple juice…).
This also really smells like tea to me, but that’s probably due to the jasmine (and maybe the bergamot).
I’m not that into the first stage of this scent, it’s too strong for my nose. The drydown is pretty good though. It loses some of its sharpness, and just smells feminine and grown-up with a little undercurrent of youthful fruitiness.
I’ll spray this on when I know I’ll be jumping on my bicycle soon.

  32. :

It’s indeed an Elixir. The scent is pretty strong, partchouli and jasmine are intensive. The tonka bean makes it a bit sweeter. I personnaly love it. Heavy and strong, only for fall/winter. I believe to be very French.

I received a 50 ml bottle parfume with an order at yves-rocher … god! it smells heavenly
i never thought I would love this smell …it’s sensual, gorgeous and sexy

So Elixir might be something I buy next fall. It is a wonderful, sensual scent, didn’t expect to like it but I actually love it. Patchouli and incence bring some exotic, dark flavor to this scent.
This is inexpensive but smells like any design scent.

I have So Elixir EdP as a 15 ml purse spray. Always with me in my purse, in case i forget to put on a frag before leaving home, or if i need to refresh during the day. It’s nothing groundbreaking or anything that really stands out in the crowd. But it’s a very pretty, soft, versatile frag for every occasion. Good for layering too. The sillage is good for the first couple of hours. Longevity is great for an YR frag, i get hours out of it. Patchouli doesn’t normally agree with me, nor does jasmin, but in So Elixir they’re so well blended, neither bothers me at all. The scent becomes quite sweet on me, i think it’s the tonka beans. Lovely all- rounder.

  36. :

At first I thought that i will like it,but after five minutes it turned out to be a very sharp, unpleasant jasmine on me…

  37. :

This is a patchouli bomb to my nose (and I happen to really, really hate patchouli.) None of the other notes, except maybe with the exception of the tonka bean, shine through. It’s just patchouli. Ugh…
When they just released it, paper samples of the stuff kep arriving with the usual YR packet and everything in the envelope stunk.

I absolutely love this fragrance. I stocked up on five bottles. Whenever I wear So Elixer, I get an inordinate amount of compliments! And the best aspect is that it is so very affordable. So Elixer is soft yet has just a bit of fruity undertones beneath the sumptuous amber. I highly recommend this mesmerizing fragrance.
