Description

a wanton embrace

Skin on Skin awakens our animalistic instincts… to touch, to get closer, to smell. It merges a sensual iris with a suede, velvet leather. The intertwining of saffron, whisky, lavender and rose, melts into musks and skin effects. A carnal creation to be used without moderation.” Skin on Skin was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Bertrand Duchaufour.

I get an almost doll head kinda smell to start, it’s oddly nice if you loved Barbie’s and such as a kid, not sexy but terribly nostalgic.
It then starts to settle to more suede and skin, very musky and almost a bit pissy on me for a second but it then calms down with a hint of lavender and powder.
Not something I’d wear out much but I wouldn’t give up my bottle, I love this in its own way although I prefer the others (all bar haute voltage, this I actually swapped as it set my teeth on edge like chewing tinfoil!!)
    Moderate longevity and sillage.

I get an orris buttered soft suede wrapped in plastic and booze that seems weird at first sniff. Next a slightly mentholated vibe comes from the lavender and a soapy quality from the musk. These are small nuances to the big iris/leather combo that Skin on Skin is. The cold iris paired with the bitter leather has now a fruity aspect. It’s less weird that it was at the beginning and it’s somehow cozy. The fragrance shifts again through the dry down to a softer iris musky fruity smell.

    Longevity: 8/10

This scent is absolutely astounding! I can only nod my head and agree that this is L’Artisan. The notes at first would make one think that it would be clashing and discordant, but all I can do is scratch my head and say wow!
The opening notes is of iris and a whiskey that’s not really boozy, but it’s presence stays throughout much of the development of this scent. The iris, a little cold, powdery and green, is then met with suede, not the buttery type, but lo-and-behold, but the smoky rubbery tire type! Some people would just cry out and yell hit the brakes (‘scuse the slight pun there), but this makes me jump up and down and smile and say ‘this is definitely niche’! I’m such a lover of intellectual scents.
When the suede relaxes, an accord pops up that really recalls to me L’Artisan’s DNA, an indescribable and unmistakable woody incense accord with a slight warmth to it.
I get the leather vibe, but don’t quite understand the term “Skin on Skin” — leather (skin) on your own skin?? I don’t find it musky, not in a civet-like way, but I’m almost sure it’s probably the type of musk I’m a bit anosmic to, because as I keep sniffing the scent, I’m picking up faint traces of a mild musk which could be quite well evident to other people’s noses. Whatever it is, smelling scents like this drives me forward in having hopes for the art of perfumery.

It’s a whiskey bomb right on application, then the suede and iris come up and fruits. It does smell like how other reviewers say – new tires, the inside of a new leather bag – but later (not too late) the fruity sweetness becomes more prominent and turns this scent into some sort of lipstick scent. This fragrance is like a drunk man’s breath on a woman’s skin, or like kissing a drunk girl who wears a lot of makeup. In the dry down it smells mostly musky, fresh, the other notes turning discreet. Soft sillage, long lasting as a skin scent.

I went to this perfume course a couple of years ago where I got to smell a lot of raw materials and learned a lot about perfumes. We also made our own perfumes with the help of a talented perfumer. I had this idea in my head about what I wanted to make, something very dusty and weird and futuristic. I wanted to make it smell synthetic and strange, and imagined it would be the colour brownish grey. So I used a lot of ambergris, orris root, cocoa powder and some spicy top notes. I was quite happy with the outcome, although everybody else hated it. My perfumer teacher just pulled a face and declared it interesting upon smelling it. Ah well, everyone has different tastes.
So imagine my surprise when I went to a perfume warehouse sale recently, where I smelled Skin on Skin and it was so very similar to my own creation. Of course I bought a full bottle, especially because it was for a good price. Now, I do like it, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It IS weird.
P.s. I made my husband smell it and he said it smelled like new car tyres. And now I can’t unsmell THAT….

Revisiting the reviews… this must have been reformulated! the last reviews don’t resonate with my exparience of Skin on Skin at all.
I use mine for layering, with Alien and other flower power ones and the results are divine.

It’s more correct to say that I don’t dislike it rather than I like it. It was a blind buy, hoping I would get something sexy and refined. It is refined in a strange way, it’s like the inside of a new purchased and expensive suede bag. Not unpleasant, but in my head it’s not somthing that should be on the skin.
The suede and the whiskey are overpowering and a little too harsh on me, and they don’t dry down at all.
I percieve it as more masculine than feminine so I gave it to my brother. He says it smells like an old gentleman and actually I don’t disagree.

    Just…NO..NO..No….sorry.
    I can only smell iris/lavender & sweet powder….NO leather…No whiskey….???….
    Very “cheapo” perfume smell…!!!…???
    Beautiful bottle & packaging and…that’s all !!!
    Ok, I’m done.

Skin on Skin would be beautiful if it actually smelled like it should. It starts off with heaps of iris and powder, which then turns into saffron and very weak leather. It’s a nice idea but it just doesn’t work, at least not on me. It’s way too weak for me. Biggest plus of this one is the name, it’s brilliant. But it doesn’t live up to it.
Just like the precious reviewer, I am done with this house. I’ve tried several different fumes and none of them were very unique, interesting or even that good. They also don’t last long at all.

This fragrance is so weak, it will likely be the last time I try anything L’Artisan Parfumeur. I’ve had a few and there’s always something about them that I don’t like. The others that I have had did not perform well, but were detectable in wafts throughout the wear…this one was so weak that even with nose to skin, I could barely smell it. I think I’m done with this house.

allright, this is something completely different from what I expected after reading the reviews. It is much more feminine than I had in mind. I already have (and love!) “Iris Nazarena” by Aedes de Venustas”, and since the strongest notes in that perfume are also iris and leather, I probably expected a bit more similarity. But where Iris Nazarena is soft and almost melancholic, Skin on Skin is much more a happy and “in your face” perfume. It almost shouts “here I am, love me or leave me!”
It is sweetly perfumed suede. I had to reset my mind before I could give it an honest review….
After a couple of days, I am starting to like it (I am always in for a challenge), and I expect I will love it in the end. It is a quirky combination of leather and a spicey fruitiness. Yep, a very big like, migrating towards love….
Ordered myself the 125ml as a back-up bottle, before it is gone forever…

The scent begins with strong whisky smell on my skin.
Later the suede and iris work together, it’s poedery and very sexy at the same time. Not chemical at all, very soft natural smell.
Then somehow I could sense the lipstick smell.
After about an hour, it’s the combination of lavender and suede. Clean and comfortable.
This is the best Artisan perfume I’ve tried so far.
Vert strong and powerful at the beginning.
But quite soft and tender in the end.
It develops in a unique way. I like it !

The name is apt — smells like skin (suede) on skin (the wearer’s). One of the best iris notes, not clouded by lesser florals. The iris grows as it goes.
Wearing this places me at the Guerlain or Chanel counter near the purse department in an upscale store. Iris and suede in the air…and the boozy whiskey note adds to the festivities. Feels very glamorous. Definitely a love.

This is one fragrance, where…unlike other fragrances I wear that have immediate redeeming qualities, I wear this odd combination of whisky, suede, iris, and a base of musk and while it doesn’t come across immediately as this sexy fragrance…I can’t stop smelling my wrist. It’s oddly intoxicating. I find the initial opening somewhat harsh, but as it settles down…it starts to soften and becomes more and more seductive.
I bought a 50 ML bottle of this last year off of Fragrancenet, and I’m thinking I may want to get another bottle before it becomes unavailable. This is an oddly seductive scent….but I can see women loving it…and a memorable one for them at that.

I consider this the best and the most beautiful perfume in my collection right now. I grew up in Europe, and i was that one kid that all grown women liked to hug, kiss on the cheek and comment on my big brown eyes and long eyelashes.
As much as i hated it back then, the smell of the winter air, leather jackets and lipstick got stuck in my brain, and i thought i will never experience it again, living in Arizona.
Well, i did, yesterday, when i received my bottle of Skin On Skin. I was instantly transported in time, way back then…
I have no words to describe this, other than to say it’s beautiful. I just wish it lasted longer on me – i have to reapply every 2-3 hours. I don’t see this being a warm weather perfume at all, especially not in the desert.
I am on a quest to obtain all 6 perfumes in Explosions d`Emotions serie, especially after Amour Nocturne blew my socks off recently. Superb!

I was really lucky to find in a thrift store a full bottle of Skin on Skin because it’s discontinued and it’s simply gorgeous. It’s a soft leather iris. When I smell it, I imagine my nose in a vintage leather purse full of lipstick and powder compact.Very feminine.

She’s a beauty! I have several L’Artisan fragrances and had to try this based on the reviews. I was concerned at first that it might be to unisex for me – leaning masculine but that is not the case. It goes on very unisex but ends up very feminine with a touch of powder. It’s a very present yet soft fragrance hence the name skin on skin. It’s sweet but not overly and it’s powdery without being over done. I love this one and the box and presentation are fantastic.

    This gives me heartburn.
It’s far too strong for me.
It also gets trapped in my sinuses for a couple of days, thus tainting anything else I wear. (Unless, per say, perhaps, if I wore something as potent as Obsession?)
There’s something about it that I like, or could love – deep down. Possibly. Instead, it has become a strong dislike.
It’s just too much. There’s something here that’s simply too harsh for me to handle and I wash it off every time I try to wear it. Right now one spray that I washed off last night has caused my senses to elevate/amplify the rum and iris contained within Gaultier’s EDP and I feel I might retch. Damn.

I cannot WAIT to begin using this again!!!! I fell in LOVE with Skin on Skin by the reviews/notes alone. It was a blind buy, and I wish ALL of my blind buys were this perfect! L’Artisan’s name choice could not be more perfect. Sensual, warm, enveloping without choking anyone, so very smooth….everything and anything you need for a much awaited date!

This is amazing. Imagine the most beautiful woman embracing you while wearing a suede jacket. You smell her perfume, a smooth and light concoction of vanilla and iris. Her skin smells of sweet and powdery musk. That is what you get, to me, from Skin on Skin.
I purchased this blind from the reviews, and am so glad I did. It is unisex I believe via the male and female elements.
    Projects decently with mid longevity.
The bottle reminds me of fine crystal.

a masterpiece…done. I have the 4oz bottle. A very “with it” scent…this will appeal to those who live, chic..and do chic, all the time. The suede sits on the booze and iris, to the end.

Do not buy unless you sample. Absolutely horrible for me. I saw some reviews that this was the SHIT. I got a sample, and used it for 3 weeks. 90% of the women who smelled it didn’t like it. The rest said it was ok. I do not like it myself. The performance is excellent though but as a skin scent. And the smell is unique.

  23. :

    5 out of 5

I think I need to accept that leather scents do not work on me. : This is horrible on my skin. Sharp, and unpleasant. It almost smells like Pez candy, there’s sweetness, but also a chemical smell that is unpleasant and jarring. I suspect it’s the suede as I’ve had this experience before. I’ll avoid leather in the future, definitely one to test before buying.

20 years ago, when I had my first job as a cashier at a local War-Mart, this scent is exactly what the employee bathroom smelled like. I’m glad it’s not just me and several other people had similar impressions of cheap chemicals mixed together. Beautiful bottle, beautiful packaging – a blind buy which then I couldn’t wait to sell on eBay.

Cuir Ottoman + Safran Troublant (and/or Traversee du Bosphore) + a delicate rum edge. Its boozy facet and solvent facet make me a little dizzy, yet the creamy part is a little cloying. All those repelling aspects amount to a cult delight. I was expecting for a daily suede perfume, with Ann Gerard Cuir de Nacre in my mind. But it ends up to be something kinky and unusual, which is also nice for me.

I think I am detecting Bertrand Duchaufour’s touch here, especially in the treatment of leather and liquor. If Bois d’Ombrie (one of my favorite’s of B.D.) is gentlemen coming in from the autumn hunt to swill whiskey and cognac in the library (leather, whiskey, aged woods, a genteel rugged touch of forest) then Skin on Skin is like the One Woman these guys let into their gentleman’s cave. She’s fun and definitely sexy, but with a sense of humor and lack of sentimentality that means she can hang with the guys. Leather and powdery iris, but a little more rough than the “bottom-of-the-purse” smell you often get with this combination. This leather glove actually takes it’s lady riding, fast. SHe drinks whiskey with the man, and isn’t afraid to “glisten” with laughter (she doesn’t quite SWEAT, though). Sweetish liquor, semi-rough leather, powder, a warm skin intimacy, calls to mind the type of person who can paradoxically make you feel sexy and powerful by teasing you. Also a weird rubbery note at the top. I don’t know how to work that into my narrative.

The 120ml bottles are no longer being produced. Everyone who loves this fragrance will have to settle for purchasing the newer, bland, gray glass 100ml bottles in future. So why not scoop up a discounted 125ml bottle now before they all disappear or become ridiculously priced on auction sites?
I fell in love at first sniff with Skin on Skin. While I do love sexy leather & suede fragrances, my nose detects not even a hint of human sexuality — far from it; instead it’s the clean, warm, friendly & comforting scent of a beloved cat’s fur and it’s simply irresistible. Yes, indeed. Soft suede and warm fur. When I wear this to work I find people stepping closer when they speak to me… I know they’re aware of my fragrance even when they don’t mention it. Skin on Skin is such a friendly, comforting fragrance that to suggest it has sexual over/undertones or intentions seems very wrong to me. Skin on Skin isn’t intercourse or an invitation to it, it’s a comforting, friendly hug and shame on anyone who suggests otherwise.
Soft suede and slightly musky kitty fur and that’s it. I sense no whiskey nor any of the florals shown in the pyramid above; don’t purchase if these notes are what you’re looking for. On the other hand, if soft suede and warm kitty fur appeal to you Skin on Skin is a “must have”.
My fragrance collection is “stupid large” and I expect I’ll be gifting/selling much of it in the next couple of years but there are many fragrances that I simply cannot conceive of ever being without and Skin on Skin is one of them. Warm, musky, powdery warmth that’s “my own skin only better” with that comforting “kitty fur” aspect makes this a “must have” for me. Grab a 120ml at various discount sites before they’re gone forever.

I am blown away by all the different reactions this fragrance brings out on everyone’s skin. On me…….this is the most floral, but deep, fragrance with some lovely leather/musk keeping any sharp notes in line…and the powder pumping it up even more for my nose to LOVE THIS! A truly amazing fragrance for me. *sigh*

This is such a nice warm scent, perfect for winter, cosy here with a nice ambiance. Some had said it’s boring, far from it. Prefer this over the Hypnotic Poison, the sweetness is subtle and the
    Whisky-note makes it unik.

I waited in anticipation for the arrival of my Skin on Skin bottle. I love the smell of my cat, would it be anything like it? Would it be on the feminine side or not? And how would the flower come out?
The box feels soft and warm. Great bottle. Took the cap off, and a smooth powdery floral scent emerged. I sprayed it on my hand and leather mixed in with the flowers. It reminded my of Versace – Dreamer, which is one of my favorites. Versace is a different scent, but has the same mix of flowers, make-up, and a certain dirt.
Skin on Skin is warm, cosy and amazingly comforting. No catfur, unisex but on the feminine side, floral. My wife said I smelled like Hubba Bubba gum though. I will settle with ‘nice and interesting scent’ in a beautifull box and bottle.
Update oktober 2017: this scent has become one of my favotites. I love it!

i was front of house normally, during the Summer nights of 1990. but i worked one night on toilet duty, in that busy Sheffield night club. a club that still had bunny girls serving drinks, golden mirrors and a DJ called Stevo, who talked. a lot.
when i was being transported home in a local minicab at 3am, this is what i smelled. cab freshener, stale perfumes, stolen fumbles from the previous tipsy back seat occupants, damp hot feet in nylon tights inside leather shoes, underpinned with the smell of dried wee.
can I smell Iris and musk? i think so. flowers. no. whisky? no. cheap booze. yes.
explosive chemical concoction to begin. yes. interesting.
pineapple suede and piss, perfume powdered, lightly sweetened.
i waited and realised after several hours, that it was going to remain on the weewee side of smelling nice on me. the most repellant smell i have thus encountered on my perfume journey. my skin smells of an actual pee splashed public lavatory. wow. no thank you.

Skin on Skin on my skin –
Well, it’s all about skin chemistry, isn’t it?
First seconds – Whisky A-Hoy! So so good.
First 3 minutes – Suedey leather and pretty iris, I’m in heaven.
Fourth minute and so forth – Awful sweet melted plastic. So obnoxiously sweet and artificial I had to scrub it off after about an hour.
This is the usual trick that L’artisan Parumeur is playing with me – it’s either so glorious I can’t have enough of it, or it’s so bad I must get rid of it asap.
Sadly, this time this trick turned sour.
Envying all the lucky ones with the correct chemistry for Skin on Skin…

The first time I encountered this scent I loved it. It was unusual and combined with my natural scent in a most sweet way. Truly perfume forms a personal chemistry a bit different with each person. I love how unlike any other scent this perfume is. I wear it often.

I absolutely adore this scent. It is not a straightforward one to like. First I smelled lots of whiskey, alcoholic, almost urinal smell. My boyfriend called it ‘squirrel piss’… But the drydown draws you in. It definitely reminds me of smell of a furry Persian cat, stroking it, while while sitting in front of an open fire. It has something animalic and intenseky sexy to it, but without any florals or fruit, just the suede and animalic scent… I am now addicted, got 2 bottles on ebay and I wake up with the desire to spray it on. Same before going to bed, I just want to smell this on me. Boyfriend loves it too.

I really like karmamay’s review. I think it’s a great depiction of this scent. I was hooked at first spray. It’s so far from the usual blends that seem to continuously surface each year – and to me, that’s refreshing. That’s why I like this hobby – the stuff that isn’t typical. This falls directly into that category: leather, whiskey and a hint of something sweet – maybe that’s the floral notes popping? At any rate – to me this is a sexy smell – and absolutely evokes those feelings. I’m so impressed by every facet of this fragrance – and for $50 (I think they were originally $280!) think it is the best bang for your buck that you can get.

    this is:
    1. my grandmothers expired, chalky old lipstick sitting in its tube waiting to be buried
    2. play-dough with a splash of potpourri
    3. a vintage suede jacket that has never been restored and lingers with the scent of age, moisture and a faint avon inspired perfume from the person who owned it many years ago
    4. urinal cakes in those paid european restrooms (quite accurate)
this actually triggered a headache within minutes. it’s a powerful scent in that the sillage is quite HUGE (a little dab and i FEEL it radiating off my wrist). longevity, I cannot speak of since I am going to scrub this off asap.

  39. :

A desirable bottle, a great name and a generous splash of whiskey. I loved it when I sprayed it, the suede-leather thing is there, BUT >>>
I was left a bit confused when it turned into a Tuscan Leather impersonator.
I mean, really confused. I wish it kept the sexy-lady sparkling character of the opening, with way less Tom Ford masculinity.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

This one opens up on me in a sweet burst of waxy iris (very much a lipstick scent!) and I LOVE that. Sweet and waxy right off the bat? Sign me up!
That starts to fade within about 10 minutes into a softer musky suede scent—still a hint of sweetness but no longer waxy. I get a little hint of the whiskey but this is far less boozy than I may have liked, once it’s on my skin. No lavender is present, which is fine with me as I love the blend and balance of what DOES show up as the scent warms and evolves.
I’ve had it on for 4.5 hours and it is indeed a skin scent, but a very pleasant one. Unique, and a keeper, but not in my top ten. As far as this line of L’artisan goes, my heart still belongs to Rappelle-Toi.

  41. :

A generous Fragrantican sent me a sample of this beauty. I’ve warn it all day since about 8am this morning. IMHO Skin on Skin is THE PERFECT skin scent.. no pun intended. It opens deliciously strong with whiskey and a touch of cream. For the briefest second I was reminded of creamy butterscotch candy, though it isn’t candy sweet in the least. I detect no “iris” as a singled out note; only a well blended powderiness accompanying the soft suede that settles into the skin. As the name implies the fragrance beautifully enhances the scent of one’s own skin. Skin on Skin is indeed a special fragrance that happens to be perfectly unisex. As a woman I’m in love with this scent, but I’d imagine it would smell even better on a man. Sillage is minimal after having worn it all day. Longevity is about 8 hours. Delightful!

  42. :

    5 out of 5

Skin on Skin is, to me, a perfect suede-iris-whiskey scent.
I’ve lost count of the compliments I received when wearing this perfume.
It starts off rather boozy, then metamorphoses into a drier suede and iris fragrance and, in the final stage, it becomes a sweeter, softer, suede-iris scent with just a hint of saffron.
Far from being overpowering, it has noticeable sillage and excellent staying power on my skin – I get about 7/8 hours.
I appreciate a large number of Bertrand Duchaufour’s creations, but Skin on Skin is the one that seems to work best with my chemistry.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

Skin on skin is a fragrance I tried in store and fell in love with the softness. I think the negative reviews are slightly harsh. This comes across very softly as a perfume. It is not a perfume that I would wear often but I can appreciate for its subtle nature. I really like the suede smell. Great stuff.

  44. :

    3 out of 5

A sharp whiskey note to start then iris shows up mixed with suede and it’s quite beautiful. There’s an earthy feel to it and reminds me of soft leather, yet this is far from dry it has a slight sweetness to it which I’m presuming is the saffron. This was another tk maxx bargain buy for me and I’m very pleased with it. “A bit of leather on skin” would not be a name with a ring to it, but I find it more fitting than “skin on skin”. Very nice indeed.

Well, this was in TKMaxx for £40 last week and the reviews here put me off and I bought something else with great reviews and mostly “love” on the bars.
Well, well. I did not like the other one and put it on sale on Ebay. I just went and bought Skin on Skin. I LOVE IT! On my is a boozy floral with and earthy dry touch from the leather; elegant and sparkly. I Even like the start. My colleague likes it too. So I had to review this to balance all the negative reviews!
The packaging is something else. Luxurious.

  46. :

My skin agrees with L’Artisan compositions. Skin on Skin is not an exception.
It opens with true whiskey note on me. After a while a beautiful suede note and then saffron join the boozy opening .
It feels soft and luxurious, extravagant like a designer creation.
In its heart the scent softens, and musk, rose and iris play in the foreground with suede taking the back seat.
Cozy, adorable, luxurious, special scent for autumn.

The Wow! Why so much hate? Are you folk crazy? I have never felt so compelled to write a review. I guess it is because I feel this incredible fragrance deserves to be truly respected. I don’t even know where to begin describing the smell. I can’t. You know the notes listed above and you will recognise many of them in this fragrance but there is magic going on with the composition.
Ok. I have a confession. I have hairy wrists. Very hairy wrists. My partner hates my hairy wrists. And yet, and yet… His nose has been snuggling up and down my arm, searching out the atoms amongst my hairs, vacuuming up the pheromones. Earlier it was just me myself and I all alone with my Skin on Skin. I had the candles burning, soft music playing, a fat glass of fine wine and I could just not drag my nose away from my damn wrist!
I think another reviewer said something along the lines of when you kiss the top of a cats head and there is that warmth and beautiful animalistic yet clean smell. I actually think it is more like a house-rabbit. Have you ever had the good fortune of meeting such a gentle creature? There is something more innocent about them than cats and something more untamed. Sniffing my scent-laden wrist is the closest thing I have ever come across to gently kissing the head of my beautiful rabbit! He is a very affectionate soul and loves to be nuzzled. He lis not afraid of my hairy arms and he will often lick them with his tiny warm tongue.
Now that I have this perfume, my partner finally gives my wrists the love they yearn!
I am completely blown away by the magic of Skin on Skin. At first, I thought it a ridiculous name but of course I completely understand it. Perhaps it should have been called Nose on Skin but that doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
All you crazy fools who hate this frag… I am glad. I am glad! You are possibly the same people who do not understand the beauty of inner silence. The same folk who do not stop to look up to the sky and almost cry at the simple beauty of a solitary bird soaring on the thermals. A great fragrance deserves to be ‘listened to’ with the nose.
This scent elicits reverence in me. It takes me to where other fragrances of a similar note family also take me, but also far beyond. Actually it takes me somewhere totally unexpected. It takes me to this present moment. Right here, right now. A place where I need or want for nothing. A place where everything is just perfect. Just as it should be. A place of pure love. A place where a warm nose with soft in-breaths and gentle out-breaths explores my lucky arm. The space between the tick and the tock of the clock, the pause between the in-breath and the out.
This moment. This moment. This moment is all there ever is and I am in love.

I am addicted to this. It’s the bread and butter, not the entree, and it is the only scent I crave everyday. When I read a negative review of this, I feel like a mother listening to a teacher slander her son.
All of that said, I think the reason alot of people dislike this is that you really have to live with this fragrance for awhile to get over the initial impressions of plastic and dry cleaning chemicals that slap you in the face in the first 10 minutes. I started out with a 10 ml decant of this so I really had the quantity to load it on. As time went by, I anticipated the beautiful drydown of orris paste and saffron suede sweetened and warmed by whiskey so much that, like an addict, I began to love that plastic opening like the first few chords of my favorite song. I can always tell from a review whether or not someone really tried this fragrance or if they just spritzed it on their wrist at Barneys because there is no way you can review this without mentioning the beauty that lies beyond the challenging opening. Regardless, for those who hated it: More for me!

Smells like a rented car, yes this fake leather scent they spray to make you fell you are in a new car. Nauseous

A close-to-the-skin scent to me. The rose, the iris the musk and the saffron (which i adore, but here it just whispers) are the notes i discern clearly.
However whiskey and lavender are out of my grip.
Yes, the leather note is there,it hovers around – not above – and not in Cabochard, Venetta or Jolie Madame style.
My first and – hopefully – last attack: Monopolising a review page by writing a thesis of 2000 words doesn’t do much justice to the perfume; it actually raises suspicions. Let alone that strolling down for so long to actually find a review worth reading TODAY, doesn’t do good to the perfume either.

Very strong bubblegum mixed with incense sweetness on my skin. What a shame……. 🙁 Sillage and longetivity are both great on me. Alas, I don’t like the smell.

I tried this multiple times now but I don’t get any leather…at all. It’s a faint and dusty iris scent on my skin. It’s also gone in half an hour.

Electricity, leather, dirt, saffron-laced iris and whisky rose. This is a beautiful fragrance that continually evolves into a beautiful creamy thing.
When first applied, it crackles like a live wire and smells of a fine soft leather. It doesn’t exactly dry down. It matures and rounds out, and becomes a musky quietly opulent floral. I absolutely love it. One of my new faves from L’Artisan. I can’t wait to get my hands on an entire bottle.

Wasted my money on this perfume. It smelt so good on paper, but on my skin, it smells of a public lavatory! Makes me feel nauseous and gives me a headache. Don’t know what it is, maybe it’s just my chemistry, but this perfume is a disappointment for me. I do like strong smells, but not if it has whiffs of urinal 🙁

At first it smells like a new leather woman bag just bought, when you took home the sealed one after you’ve tried the model on the case in the shop, and the clerk went in the backside to take the sealed item.
After this vinyl sinthetic blast, in 5 minutes the flower notes from iris and rose start coming out and in 10 minutes leather will be just a light note flanking them, but not overwhelming (still unmistakable presen
