Description
SJP NYC Crush is a new fragrance by actress Sarah Jessica Parker from her SJP NYC collection. While the original SJP NYC from 2009 is dedicated to the fashion and the fashion icon status of the actress, the new edition symbolizes her love and passion for fashion. The composition is Oriental-Vanilla, made from white flowers, coconut and vanilla notes.

Offering, you, up a moment of sheer bliss and pleasure from the very first hint of this sensual fragrance. SJP NYC Crush is a beautiful expression made for sharing with a loved one on long summer day or snuggled up on cold winter evening.”

SJP NYC Crush was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Honorine Blanc.

Honestly, the flowers are really subtle – I don’t think you need worry that the perfume will turn on you. I’d describe it more as a coconut/vanilla perfume, to be honest. Miffy8900 says the flowers “peep thru” – I agree with her assessment and the flower smells more like magnolia than anything else (to my nose, anyway). I genuinely have a magnolia tree in my garden, which has – literally – just stopped flowering, so the fragrance of the flowers is still fresh in my mind.

I would really like to try this, but I’m worried about the white flowers. I have a difficult time with white florals in general, especially jasmine which turns either too indolic for my taste or, weirdly, smells like horrid bad breath (Michael Kors Sexy Amber is a prime example of that bad breath jasmine vibe to my nose).

Miffy8900’s review below is really all anyone needs to read when considering whether to buy this perfume or not, but I’ll add my two penn’orth anyway…
I am not a perfume snob and own and wear a wide variety of perfumes – from those available from the local chemist to expensive niche and designer brands. I love some “challenging” perfumes – Lutens’ Serge Noire, for example – but sometimes I don’t want to be challenged by my perfume or consider what image I want to project. Sometimes I “just” want to smell nice.
SJP NYC Crush scratches that itch.
I spritzed NYC Crush twice on the back of my left hand, where it left a slightly oily sheen. It opens with a very coconutty punch, which is quite sweet, although not sickeningly so. The coconut is tamed after about an hour and the perfume is then predominantly a soft vanilla, with just a trace of coconut, with hints of white flowers (I am definitely picking up magnolia – our tree has virtually finished flowering now, and the scent of the flowers is still fresh in my mind). I’ve washed my hands twice since spritzing and the perfume is still clearly discernible, which I feel I should mention, as it’s probable the coconut opening would be more prolonged if the perfume had been left undisturbed.
I paid £10 sterling for 100ml and it’s worth considerably more than that – it does NOT smell cheap and it’s a lovely perfume for summer days, as it’s not too sweet or cloying.
Well worth a punt and a good blind buy for the price – if you don’t like it, it should be easy enough to find someone else to pass it along to who’ll appreciate it for what it is – a simple, lighthearted, sweet and girly perfume.
Oh – when I say “girly” I should point out that I just mean that it’s a simple perfume, not that I am suggesting it should be worn exclusively by young women – I’m 55 in November and intend to rock SJP NYC Crush whenever I damn well please!

Beautiful, pretty, simple coconut and white florals fragrance. Reminiscent of NYC Pure Crush, but whereas Pure Crush is very, very coconutty, this one is much more well balanced with the white flowers, making it more elegant and less suntan lotion-y.
Whereas the beginning is very coconutty, the drydown is more vanilla. A smooth, soft, cashmere-like vanilla. Actually, it reminds me a bit of how a baby smell – vanilla baby powder maybe, a powdered baby wrapped in a cashmere blanket, if that even makes sense.
The white florals peep thru, I can’t really pinpoint them out, but they’re definetely there.
All in all a very pleasant, tamed, sweet and cozy vanilla fragrance. Projects well, but is not overpowering. Has a decent lasting time, but nothing to brag about – wish it would stay longer.
The bottle is SO great! A million times better than Pure Crush which honestly looks rather insane IMHO.
The leatherette, the colour combination, the gold, the thick emblem on the lid – it got everything going on, and it looks amazing. Only thing is that I don’t think the bottle suits the fragrance that well. The bottle screams sexy evening fragrance for a femme fatale. The bottle looks like how I imagine a heavy D&G-fragrance should look, it would suit D&G The One wonderfully, I think. NYC Crush would be better in a creamy bottle like Donna Karan Cashmere, or something in that style.
BUT! Both scent AND bottle are wonderful. Well done, SJP 🙂
