Description

Three new fragrances by the house of Sisley have been presented. They are sparkling and simple in their elegance, just like a beautiful summer dress teased by breezes that move its pleats. The fragrances were created as three sisters or three faces of the same woman and they are marked with numbers – 1, 2 and 3.

Sisley Eau de 1 stimulates and introduces liveliness in the very beginning of the fragrance, with notes of green mandarin, grapefruit, pink pepper and spices. A heart is created as floral, powerful, sunny and composed of aquatic jasmine, green tea and juniper berries, while base notes are characterized with chypre accords of patchouli and musk.

The flacons are made of glass, with a stopper characteristic of the Sisley brand. The stopper was designed by Polish sculptor Bronislaw Krzysztof. All three fragrances are available as 100ml (3, 4 oz) EDP and they arrive on the market in April 2009.

I get a soft and powdery citrus fragrance. No spices, no patchouli. Not bad, but nothing really impressive. I liked the number 3 much better. For this price tag i was expecting more.
P.S: It also disappears rather quickly.

I was eagerly awaiting the Summer months to begin testing the trio from Sisley, aptly named Eau de 1, Eau de 2 and Eau de 3. It made perfect sense to start my journey by sampling Sisley Eau de 1 so I dug out my miniature sample on a warm Summer’s day to see how it fared in the heat.
Sisley Eau de 1 has a somewhat manly, aftershave aroma, which is not a negative mind you. The juniper, grapefruit, pepper and tea notes are quite strong, so it’s obvious from the beginning that this fragrance leans more towards the masculine than the feminine.
For what it’s worth I have greatly enjoyed wearing my sample over this last month. It provided that smooth, soapy citrus scent I was craving and was casual enough to match any occasion, be it at home lounging around on the couch or working hard in an enclosed office environment.
Sisley Eau de 1 was mostly clean, green and comforting on my skin. The longevity was average, lasting approximately four to six hours, dependent on the level of humidity. I would describe Sisley Eau de 1’s scent projection as being relatively soft.
All in all, a pleasant citrus aromatic offering from the house of Sisley. Not overly innovative, and perhaps a tad too expensive but well worth a sniff when next at the Sisley counter.

    Green, spa-like, luxury fresh.
A sporty fragrance for the posh girl.
Sort of Victoria/Mel C mash up.
    Like it.

the juniper makes this a little more herbal than I like, but the citrus and pepper / patchouli notes are lovely. Just reminds me a bit of a gin tonic.

This smells like sunshine in a flower garden to me. Anyone claiming they smell citrus only smelled it on a card and then discarded it immediately, and never actually wore it. The citrus disappears almost immediately. What’s left is chypre above all, which I am personally obsessed with because real chypre is practically non-existant in modern fragrance houses (too costly). The pink pepper is soft. It’s more there to add tension than spice. And soft, powdery florals. Like delicate body powder you’d find in a silver canister with a feather puff. So there’s probably some modern aldehydes in it.
It is not in any way masculine. There’s about ZERO notes in it that’s used in modern men’s fragrances. There’s also NO ozonics/aquatics. A plebeian nose probably misinterpreted the chypre.
I find the sillage to be modest. But the Eau de Nombre fragrances are ones you wear for yourself, not others. The longevity is the same on me as all Sisley fragrances: they’re on my clothes the next day. If you don’t bathe enough and your skin is very oily with debris and residue, I can see how it wouldn’t last long on that person. Fragrance isn’t a replacement for hygiene, people.

Starts out light and a bit thin, like a citrus will. But WOW does it bloom on your skin in about 20 minutes. Really changes to something soft, warm and full, but with a bit of the citrus freshness still. Ladylike and fresh at the same time. Not really “me,” but I like it!

Smells like classic citrus cologne. It also smells very raw like it was made with essential oil. Not sure if I like it. Even though I bought a vase of the stuff for black friday.

Imagine it’s a very warm summer’s day (not hot, mind!) and you spritzed with Sisley Eau de Soir as you dressed this morning (how extravagant! but you’re going out for lunch, or maybe you just thought sod it, that’s what I fancy) and now it’s 7pm and you are sitting down with a gin and orange (not any old gin but Bombay Blue Sapphire). Note: you haven’t re-spritzed with Eau de Soir, and it’s not, as I said, hot, just nice and warm. And the gin is herby.
This is what you get! Need I say more?

Green & citrus fragrance, I can smell a lot of grapefruit and tea. Not my favorite type of a scent, but I have to admit that it is quite nice. If you like green fragrances, try it.

Perfect for summer or, as one reviewer said, anytime of the year. It’s a bracing splash of citrus. When that evaporates, what is left is a juniper berry and pink pepper concoction that I can’t get enough of! I’m not a patchouli fan, but whatever minuscule amount is in No. 1 is sweet and clean, and barely there.
Even though I love this fragrance, I can see why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea: the juniper berries and spices make give this a slightly masculine edge (in fact, it really could be a unisex cologne), the longevity is poor for the price, and maybe they just plain don’t care for the scent whether masculine or feminine.
I like this, and re-spraying doesn’t bother me. Still, I don’t think I could justify the cost. Regardless, I’ll add it to my “want” list for the time being.

Sisley Eau de 1 starts super strong citrus-verbena-white floral blast. First blast is hard to take, but I was hoping it’s made like those old factory fragrances, that have harsh opening but you get your reword after. Well, that’s not the case here.
The smell quickly de-escalated to very(!) watered down, pink pepper, white floral, juniper, grapefruit mix. Disappointing!

Sisley Eau de 1 started off as a very bright citrus in the first moments, and it seemed promising as a bracing summer fragrance, if a little on the masculine side. Very quickly this turned to something like Dial soap, and it’s not really moving beyond that stage for me. This is vague spices with cloying white flowers. Not my cup of tea.

Today i have purchased a gift set of all three “Eaux” each of 30ml and i am testing nr. 1 and nr.3 on each arm today. If i like any of them much i will go for a bigger 100ml bottle, they are on 50% sale at the moment, so it is agood chance to get them.
The description of “nr.1” on the box says following: “Eaux de Sisley – fresh and creative fantasy. Eau de Sisley 1 – a feminine bouquet, joyful and romantic”.
Well, this one is fresh indeed, thanks to the tea note. I also smell a prominent grapefruit (not a sour one, but sweet one) and sweet orange note. The spices are quite delicate in here, but the closer to the drydown, the more prominent the juniper notes becomes on my skin. Until the very drydown it balances on feminine-masculine side, however i don´t find it to be very masculine at all. Yes, it is fresh, citrusy, but not every citrusy fresh fragrance can be positioned as masculine. Closer to the drydown it becomes indeed more “cologny” but until that it smells quite innocent and still somehow feminine.
The juniper note sits firmly on skin, but tea note surrounds you with the aura. I find this to be an interesting aspect: after a cloud of fresh tea note gets the person nearby, then he/she is greeted with more green juniper note.
Sillage is moderate to softer closer to the drydown, lasting power is around 2 hours on my skin. Great for summer!!! But is also nice smelling during winter time. But the lasting power really sucks!!!
P.S. I don´t smell any of the patchouli in here, and this is great!
If it wouldn´t be for a lasting power, i would have purchased this as a full size bottle, but paying dozens of euros for something that lasts so little makes absolutly no sense!!! Sad, since perfume itself is really nice.

Wore it yesterday. Verdict: it is harsh, very citrusy, ozonic with a spicy undertone. More of a masculine than feminine fragrance, and I don’t mean it in a good way. It smells like generic eau de cologne. Moreover, the citrus turns into sour notes on the dry down. To put it bluntly: on my skin, it is both uninteresting and stinky! Not a winning combination.
However, I like the number 3 very much, but that’s another review.

Had a sample of this one. It’s fresh, very citrusy. Lovely for summer! I can imagine that this would be perfect for hot summer days! It gives your nose a boost and automatically your body too. Unfortunately on me, it didn’t stay on. As fresh as it is at the beginning as swiftly it disappears again. I think you have to spray really a lot… really a lot! I A pity! I do like the smell though.
I agree that it could be unisex.

I rather associate this fragrance with the masculine side. I can smell strong the pink pepper and the spices. Very aromatic scent and oriental positioned.Good scent.

Why is it positioned as feminine? A very good unisex fragrance.

This fragrance smells fresh. Most of all I feel the citrus notes in it.
I don’t find this fragrance interesting at all. On me it smells very simply.

Sisley is a perfume house that always delivers good quality products to our nose. Apart from quality, Sisley is distinctive by its unique and long lasting perfumes. Upon testing Eau de 1 I came to conclusion that they have run out of ideas or money.
I think that the idea about N1 was to rejuvenate the Campaigne story and bring the scent to wider audience. So they followed the recipe:
1.add citrus peel preserved from the time Eau the Campaigne is created, dry, boiled and watered profoundly. Lots of water.
2.add pink pepper and spices, if not available use ordinary pepper and soup cube
3.add tea and juniper grass in mild doses, wash 3 times, let everything dry, reconstitute with neutral smelling grass if needed
4.add white flowers, if you’re out of them, ad aroma of white flowers. Out of them to? Skip this step.
    5. boil all together, wash after, remove possibility of sharp, natural, sweet notes. Cut lasting time to minimal, the bottle is big enough to reapply.
There is no chicken soup without chicken. Sisley should have known that.

I simply love Sisley 1. It is true that the lasting power is weak, but I actually think it is a good thing because otherwise the scent would be too dominating. Many have asked me if I’m wearing men’s cologne when I wear this perfume. The thing is, I like perfumes that have a manly undertone. However, I could never wear actual men’s colognes, they are too heavily manly. This is perfect because it is both classic, feminine and slightly manly. Surprisingly, it is a perfume that I could wear both during summer and winter, which I normally don’t do (wear the same fragrance all year round).
The beginning is very strong and powerful. If I look for the notes that Sisley 1 is said to contain, at first sniff I get a lot of pepper, citrus fruits and spices like cinnamon and clove. After a few moments, the sharpness begins to soften and give way to the woodsy heart. At this point, Sisley 1 reminds me a lot of YSL Kouros, only Sisley is a more feminine, fresher scent. The heart of the fragrance reminds me also of Infusion D’Iris, which must be the juniper, because in my nose Iris smells a lot like a forest full of conifers on a warm summer day. After a few hours, the sparkly notes fade to the background and give way to the soft base. However, the crispiness is there until the very end, only complimented with sophisticated undertones. The musk is in no way dominating. As I said, I find it good that this fragrance is not too heavy. It sort of “gives up” in the end, but not by compromising style.
Even though many say this perfume is too masculine, I find it an excellent perfume for a confident, not proud, and relaxed woman.

    Sisley Eau de 1.
I think this one is the weakest in the collection, but still very nice.
The lasting power of all of them is below average.
It’s still citrusy and spicy, but lacks the sharpness of Eau de Campagne. I get orange and grapefruit all the time.
Well-balanced, perfect fot hot summer days.
If you find Eau de Campagne too chypre, maybe this one will work better for you.
It could easily be a unisex.
