Wow! To me, this is an exact carbon copy of original 2002 Dior Addict, BUT BETTER!!! Now, I’ve tried many supposed “dupes” of various fragrances and I have never, and I do mean *never* found an acceptable (to me) dupe of *anything*, until now! But if it’s a carbon copy, then how is it better? Well, all the notes and accords that actually matter are exactly the same to me, but 2002 Dior Addict has a sharp plastic overtone that is very cloying and unbearable to me. This doesn’t have that! 😀 And other than that, I really can not tell them apart at all. So basically, this is Dior Addict’s identical twin sister dressed in a similar but more expensive outfit. Unfortunately, nowadays, the price and availability (or lack thereof) reflects that, as it is now harder to find and more expensive than a vintage bottle of Dior Addict, at least in the US. Still, if you’ve always loved Addict except for that weird plastic/sour overtone, you should definitely hunt this down. I smell like I’m wearing Addict and it’s actually working with my skin chemistry this time, something I can’t say for the actual Dior Addict. Another bonus: sillage and longevity is just as good as 2002 Addict. I’m telling you, it’s the same but better! Love♡

This is an autumn scent that has an Addict edge to it thanks to the large amount of tonka bean, which is one of my go-to comfort accords. I had a bottle of Addict, purchased in early 2004, with an inch left in it, that I carried with me in my mid-life crisis #2 jaunt around the map, trying to “find myself”. I kept it because my collection had gotten down to just a few loves…I didn’t even know myself well enough to figure out what I wanted to smell like. I’d worn Addict while I was with a terrible person I should’ve run a mile from, and I was so heartbroken, I couldn’t stand to smell this gorgeous red juice in the beautiful navy blue bottle. But I still hung on to it, until I finally forced myself to let it go a full decade after I’d first fell head-over-heels for it, and The Wrong Guy.
Silence Purple is a drop-dead beauty that nearly makes it to Addict status, but there’s patchouli giving it a sharpness instead of vanilla bringing even more cream and warmth to the smooth white florals, and again, they share the strong tonka accord. The two share enough with the sandalwood, amber (a compound accord that contains vanilla, so there ya go, those who sense vanilla in the DD) and the headlining tonka. I seriously have a major love for tonka bean, and own a bottle of the single accord.
I like this, and purchased it because I wanted something very close to Addict that didn’t bring ugly memories, and I’m happy to state that this is a relatively safe blind-buy, and that I can wear it without going to the dark side. It’s not a “love”, simply because I’ve done it before, so nothing new, and it wasn’t exactly “cheap”, as I went for the huge plastic purple disk, because that’s what one does when lacking in common sense. I’m also not sure where to put this huge purple Frisbee-on-steroids in my collection…I’m a sucker for a gorgeous bottle that perfectly represents its liquid, and this just screams “PURPLE PLASTIC!” when it’s contents are all warmth and huggable. I’d take the Dior bottle any day. We’ll see where this relationship goes…
By the way, I did indeed “find myself”, and as it turns out, I’m pretty annoying and self-destructive, but I’ve amassed a bunch of air miles with a healthy dose of gratitude and humility, and I smell damn good. Life is infinitely better when it smells good.

I purchased this because of the votes that it smells like the original Dior Addict, and it is definitely very similar! However, it has a green/earthy note that throws me off. I thought it was galbanum but I guess it’s the patchouli. That note is kind of dissonant combined with the rich vanilla, white florals, and sandalwood so it’s somewhere between a like and dislike for me and I definitely don’t like it as much as the original/vintage Addict. Plus, it was pretty expensive, so if you want the vintage Addict, just get that instead. It’s an ok dupe, but it’s just not worth it considering it’s not even cheaper.

Beeeuuuutiful!!! Everything is gorgeous about Silences Purple, even to the totally divine bottle….and ravishing colour!!!! It’s a gorgeous floral perfume!!! Beautiful delicate yet strong white flowers, and a gorgeous sweet voluptuousness in the heart and dry-down, with the loveliest dry musty bitter smoky vetiver, and sweet milky sandalwood, and delicious smooth, slightly vanilla/almond smell of the tonka beans, and the patchouli!!! …..mmmmm….perfection!!! Very feminine and glamorous. I get compliments, compliments, and more compliments every time I wear it!!!
    It’s a wonderful glorious perfume….perfect……absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Elegant. Different from the original Silences, but just as beautiful. A profusion of subtle flowers.

Absolutely beautiful perfume, I just received my 100 ml bottle, yes it does smell quiet similar to Dior addict and jasmin noir in a good way. It’s quiet cheap for the price, I’ll surely buy another bottle soon.

Silences Purple – OK so this is not Dior Addict per say but it is a real darn close image of it. In my search for a replacement of Dior Addict(original formulation) I stumbled upon the review of this fragrance. I decided to take the plunge in part because of the great reviews and also because of the notes.
This fragrance has wonderful projection and the scent is spot on. It starts of citrus, moves to sweet, then a vanilla amber with nice spicy and woody notes. Very beautiful indeed with lasting longevity.

Love love love it! . The bottle though I must admit it’s out there! Not comfortable sitting this purple hockey puck on my bathroom shelf.
Beautiful warm ambery fragrance. Striking similarities to the original Addict. I have the original and also the 2012. This smells just like it with slightly less power. Longevity is not bad either. Obviously not as strong as Addict but not at all bad.

I have only briefly smelled Dior Addict years ago, but same as with all Dior’s Poisons – they never hooked me enough, so I never had an idea to buy a FB.
Now Jacomo Purple Silences, which shares with original Silences only bottle design/shape – is something that wow-ed me and I endlessly happy to wear it and to own it. It has typical Jacomo’s creativity and spicy-depth from lemony-velvet start to finish, – very comforting – qualities of tiare, freesia and frangipani – creamy, feminine, relaxing, enveloped in tonka bean, which borders with oriental gourmand really, but never drops enough to become a “gourmy-scent” due to strong vetiver with tart amber mainly in base – sophisticated and “different” from current mainstream fragrance. Hidden gem.

On me it smells identical to Dior Addict, after the first couple of minutes that patchouli gets smoother and more subtle. It is a sillage beast and really long lasting and for the price it has it is a killer bargain-substitute to the very loved (and sadly discontinued) original version of Dior Addict.

I’m intrigued , ordered this from eBay for 25€ , it will get to me in one/two days , will get back here and post if it’s similar to CDA or not .
Surprisingly it is similar to CDA , initially promising , seems potent , I just sprayed it , I’m impressed , could be another hard shoulder to cry after CDA 🙂 , for the price is a great great deal !!!

I have just bought 100ml from Ebay Germany for £20!
I was very excited opening this – the packaging is very nice, looks luxurious and a gorgeous colour.
The opening is without a doubt extremely similar to Dior Addict ….even more so the original Addict Eau Fraiche from 2004.
Its quite sweet and fresh in the opening – not a citrus fresh, more a clean floral fresh.
The tonka is right there from start to finish giving a depth, which is where the comparison to Addict comes in I think.
The tonka is giving a good impression of vanilla, but the vetiver shines through in the dry down making this slightly smokey and like incense which I really love.
The patchouli, although subtle is keeping this sharp.
Addict becomes cosy and deep comforting vanilla. Silences purple is like a fresher herbal version of Addict – ideal really for spring /summer if Addict becomes too much for you on a hot day.
A good alternative for Addict Eau Fraiche lovers (original 2004)
    I recommend 😀
EDIT – Now I have worn this all day, what is left lingering is a beautiful sweet Dior Addict -it smells even more like Addict now

It’s very strong and intensed. Can’t compare to Dior cause I haven’t tried that one. For what I can say is that this smell is very dry, with dominant notes of tonka bean, vetiver, patchouli and amber. I didn’t like this fragrance because it reminds me of the toilet freshener at my friend’s place. But I guess the staying power is very long

Testing this today, it’s quite nice but on me it’s not the sillage/longevity monster it is on most reviewers. On me it’s rather subtle. I mostly get Amber, Tonka, Sandalwood & some floral notes.
It’s nice, but I would definitely prefer Dior Addict or Addict edp (new edition) over this any time.

A slightly brighter sister to Addict Dior (2002)
This is not bad at all
I bought it because of all the comparisons whit addict and Yes it shure is similar.. This is a slightly more floral version.
it starts off the first minuts whit somthing realy not flattering at all. it was almost as i thought ohh no this is a real stinker off a chemical mix. but be pationt 😉 after a few minuts the most beautiful wiff off frangipani and vanille mixing so well whit all the other flowers, just a slight touch off citrus .
this is a slightly brighter version then Addict 2002 IMO i even find a little resamblens to Just Cavalli i Love her. whit the frangipani especialy
This is realy long lasting and well worth a try if you like Addict and the likes off it
it is pretty loud ass well a few sprits will last a long time .. just as i like it
the bottle is cute and the box it comes in even cuter. shiny metallic purple realy cute 😉
I think the bottle suits this perfume very much colourwise aswell. but it could just aswell has shown a slightly lighter colour ,because it is bright aswell. ( i know i am analysing this way to much but its fun to think does it fit to the bottle , the colours and such ;))

To me it smelled very synthetic and i associated the smell with some sort of insect repellent or something.

This smells almost exactly like Dior Addict. It´s dry-down is a little bit sharper than the original own but for such a low price, I paid 10 euro for 100ml, it´s a very good substitute for the more expensive original. So definitely worth buying.

I think the name is totally inappropriate,it is loudness what should this perfume be called; unless what’s meant to be said was :HUSH everybody! I don’t think this perfume is floral, it smells aromatic to me and it is a dominant ,heavy, chalking masculine(not in a goodway at all) scent..sorry, that’s what I feel..

  21. :

Although at first it smells like Dior Addict Eau Fraiche (many same notes as you can see) after half an hour it leaves you with some smell like men shaving foam. No similarity with original Dior Addict. Addict dries out with a sexy long-lasting deep vanilla, this dries in vetiver and patchouli. yak!!

Update after 24 hours, yes it does smell like Dior Addict now :)…. Good and phew ! Sigh of relief at last… And that also speaks about its longevity ! Am eager now to let my love for Silences Purple grow.

I bought Silences Purple because of the reviews emphasising its comparision to a famed fragrance and its affordability. But am sadly disappointed. Addict has this beautiful vanilla whereas Silences Purple gives me only a very moody patchouli. I wanted to love this one. But alas!

  24. :

I don’t know if the perfume I got was off or what but this did not react well with my chemistry at all.
I got a completely synthetic, overpowering “floral”. Perhaps it was the patchouli that was too strong?
I’m not sure. It didn’t smell at all like the beautiful florals listed & I have addict too. Doesn’t smell the same at all, not even close.

I bought this perfume after reading all these reviews and I just am so in love with it. It smells so expensive but it cost me less than 20 USdollars for this huge bottle. Its the cheapest and my most fav in my huge collection of perfumes!!

I’ve never smelled Dior Addict (EDITED: I have since smelled it, and yes, Silences Purple is very similar), and had never smelled Silences Purple, but this has got to be one of the best kept perfume secrets in the world. You can find huge bottles of the EDP on the internet for $15 or less at several websites. (I now know it would be a bargain even at four times that price.) I decided I could risk purchasing unsniffed due to the low cost.
It wasn’t love at first sniff. It was a polite, cautious like at best. I don’t usually wear scents that smell like this one. It initially smelled too sharp and green, even a bit medicinal. However, I did notice that the scent evolves quite a bit during wear. It got much softer and sweeter over time, and boy, does it linger! I could smell the last faint traces almost 12 hours later.
By the third wearing, I was ready to pledge my love.
Such a quality fragrance for a great price! Sharp citrus notes yield to soft and feminine florals, not unlike Prada Infusion d’Iris or Barbara Bui. The dry-down reminds me of vanilla incense, sweet but slightly smoky. The slightly masculine grassy notes of vetiver emerge a good ten hours after application.
Love the big purple “hockey puck” bottle, too. Very pretty color and so satisfying to hold and spray. Try a bottle and take some time to get to know it!

I just bought this perfume without knowing how it smelled. First when I sprayed Silences Purple it did smelled exactly like Dior Addict to me “BUT” as it dried down it changed. It has a smell at the end that makes it soo different. I have Dior Addict, I have worn it for years and this don’t smell like it. Addict has 2 main Notes mandarine and vanille also its a lot more stronger and wears down to a dark vanille, sexy dark vanille thats mostly all you will smell. Silences purple smells sexy too but it is a much lighter “mini me” lol, of dior addict it is not as rich smelling, it has notes in it that makes it different from dior addict like, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Vetiver, Amber, Batons de vanille, Tonka beans. I think I’m smelling the vetiver or definitly amber at the end with a hint of vanille but more amber, because amber has that feminine light sexy smell to it after you have been wearing it most of the day and can be confused with vanille somtimes. I do agree that this fragrance is a great replacement for the much pricer Dior Addict. It seems to have some pretty good lasting power to it too.

i also bought this perfume because everyone said it smelled like addict.
But having never sniffed addict it was a blind purchase.
IM SO IN LOVE! i can smell the blood orange and a little patchuli and almost incense-y, i dont know but im so happy with it!
the sillage is so great as well, 2 sprays and its all you need, lasts all day as well.

Love it! Just as everyone here has said in earlier posts, this to me also smells just like Dior`s Addict, which I happen to LOVE. A wonderful fragrance, and rather inexpensive. This one is a keeper with me.
I find this one to be more an evening scent, very sexy and seductive, and for me, a fall and winter type scent. This is something I wear out for dinner. It is a nice change from the usual sweet gourmands I wear. The notes I most detect on my skin are the mandarin, jasmine, sandalwood, and patchouli.
I get great feedback from both men and women when I wear it – especially from the husband :). Sillage and lasting power is just great, it lasts all day on me with two sprays.
    I think it is excellent!

I have the Addict again thanks to my sweet sweet Persephone!! But I must confess, this one is just better!!
For all you that do not know the Jacomo house, this is a well kept secret, the entire house is!! For example, the highly praised Silences original has become the favorite green of my darling Persephone. And take it from me, that women has taste, OMG!!

  32. :

    3 out of 5

Initially it is sharp – almost awful, but after about 5-6 minutes develops in a beautiful sweet-floral aroma with salty-bitter aftertaste (vetiver?), which makes floral notes sounds wild. With time this salty-bitter note becomes more significant, while the sweet-floral aroma settles down. It is an interesting fragrance, invokes image of blooming weeds along the sea (charming!) and lasts forever.

  33. :

This just a prototype for strong winter perfume. At first it begins with very strong(esp frangipani is good detectable at this phase) spicy florals-almost oriental- and it settles down to a rich, remarkable and stable floarl scent. It doesn’t change or loose its character in hours.
And of course:excellent staying power! I highly recommend this frag for those people their skin doesn’t hold perfume on…

I just received this and I bought it without smelling it first but that’s okay because all of you were right it smells just like Dior Addict which I LOVE LOVE LOVE! I was skeptical at first but for such a good deal I couldn’t pass it up. To me both Silences Purple and Dior Addict smell like vanilla, marshmallows and an undertone of jasmine incense. The white flowers in the middle really marry the fragipani on the top with the tonka bean in the base. Delicious! I will buy again!

I loved it right away, even though I knew it was “not me”. It smelled like this beautiful woman I used to see in the office downtown who always seemed a tad larger than life. She was voluptuous, with a head of shiny perfect curls, slippers with those very, very pointed tips and a pashmina shawl wrapped around her full shoulders. As she walked with her head very, very high, like a queen from the far away land, everyone looked, had to turn their heads because she was simply a lot to behold…although no one really knew why she should rule anything… And so is Silences Purple, which I had to return, because living with it was just too much! I can still smell its lovely vanilla trail on my pillow.

silences purple is very sweet at first, but after a while it becomes somehow spicy and even masculine!I know I don’t see any masculine notes over here, but believe me the middle and base notes are not good at all.

very nice perfume, I don’t like the bottle at all, but the smell is EXACTLY THE SAME as Dior Addict, and it is a perfume, not eau dt, so it also lasts looong – and the best thing is it is waay cheaper than the Addict…In my country, all Dior Addict users are replacing it with this fragrance…
