Signature is a musky fougeriental in a traditional American barbershop mode: very powdery, very dry, a little sweet, a little citrusy (with a little orange oil), and a touch aromatic with hints of lavender and clove. It’s somewhere between Creed Orange Spice and Royal Copenhagen by Swank. If I had to pick a category for it, I’d go with “musky fougere” due to the preponderance of lavender on top, and coumarin in the base. It bears a close relationship to Kouros by YSL; its musks are acrid, animalic, and probably belong in the “nitro” class, now banned by IFRA regs. I absolutely love this scent, but never wear it because if I use it up, it’s gone. Mine comes in a cylindrical glass bottle with an old-fashioned gas atomiser. If you can find these, you’ll probably find the best preserved specimen of this scent, as no air can get to it.
