This does smell a lot like Britney Spears Private Show but it not as good. PS has that coffee note & for me it makes it smell so much better. This one also has no lasting power. One hour after putting on I cant smell anything. Private Show lasts a lot longer than that. While it smells nice I cant see rebuying or saying its worth buying because of the longevity. I’ll be sticking with Private Show.
Its also, to me, more feminine. Sure I think a male would smell nice wearing this but its strikes me as feminine & not something I would normally expect to smell on a man.

Bought at Ross for $16. I like it however it’s more feminine than unisex. Very sweet but soft and down at project much.

Very pleasant gourmand fragrance. Very sweet (maybe too sweet for some), with a touch of powder and a bit of freshness. Good for winter and summer, very young and feminine. It is your typical celebrity fragrance, but it is well done.

Very sweet and interesting opening, but the mid and drydown become cloying and a bit muddled…
I get more vanilla and pineapple than I do anything else, but a hint of the caramelly dulce de leche/maple/caramel apple thing before it all kind of goes blah.
This is not a bad fragrance, but I can’t see myself reaching for it when it really doesn’t do much for me. Pretty bottle, and I like Shawn Mendes as a musical artist very much.

I rarely call a fragrance “MEH”…but this one is.
Nothing at all hit me with this one. I got hairspray/alcohol, synthetic fruit-ish caramel…and it also disappeared very rapidly….almost gone in 60 seconds….???…No thanks, big pass on this one.

  6. :

Maybe my nose is funny, but I got a light, inoffensive pineapple fragrance with a little bit of a green or herbal aspect to it.
I found this noticeably synthetic, but not disgustingly so. That being said the fragrance is casual, not remarkable and not even a great cheapy.
I would recommend this to mid age women, who don’t mind synthetics and want a casual summer scent on the cheap and who is not picky at all.
For the everyday person insurrection pure 2 is much better , but l’aventure by al haramain is much better for 35 usd from discounters.
2 out of 5 and I got 4 hours longevity and poor projection and sillage

Sweet spicy and caramel.Very similar to most of the sweet popular perfumes of today. Crowdpleasing but not special.

The white cedar completely kills any wearability of this fragrance at all for me…just a bit too masculine for my usage.
I don’t really get the comparison to Britney Spears Private Show…it seems closer in scent to BS In Control Curious to me.
If you like this, you should try:
    ~BS In Control Curious~
    ~Aquolina Gold Sugar~

Maybe my scent “palate” is immature, but I seriously hated this perfume. I wished I could have found a tester or sample first (there were none in my area). I bought the body spray at Target and immediately gave it away to a friend.
The notes and reviews sounded amazing. I was hoping it would be something inoffensive and yummy like Old Spice Hawkridge or Wolfthorn. As a gourmand lover that can appreciate fresh and woody scents, I expected a safe buy. I was wrong.
The fragrance is predominantly a warm, musty, musky wood with a faint sickly sweetness. Not a clean, white musk, but something unpleasant that sticks in your nostrils and throat. No freshness to counteract it.
I expected a light scent, given the nature of many celebrity fragrances. I have smelled this exact scent in a person’s apartment before, and I always attributed it to old meals or a lack of “airing out.” I realize it was this or a similar perfume.
I should mention that the body spray is a very strong formula. One spritz on the wrist was not completely washed away on the first attempt. Shawn Mendes Signature is a “scrubber.”

Smells almost identical to Rue de La Fortune

Extremely sweet smelling, leaning more for ladies or feminine men. Its like spraying boiled down sugar, I did not detect musk, lemon, or cedar.

Vanilline sugary creamy airy musky fragrance, a bit bit salty marine if you have the patience to smell that side.
It smells like hundred of billions of those scents you find into supermarkets V. Secret, yves rocher/the body shop and similar stores.
Not bad, no special. Simply & cheap. Gourmand. Very feminine, girly.
    Lovely bottle.

Just added this to my collection to those saying it’s woman only have never smelled ultra male or one million great longevity for a cheap frgrance u have to put it on your skin to really enjoy it is sweet smelling but the musk rreally tones this down solid 3.5 out of 5

    I don’t like it. It’s a boring scent. But still a Shawn fan. 😀

I have plenty of unisex fragrances and I’ve even worn womens perfumes before. This is very solid in the women only category. Very sweet. Like a discount sugar vanilla this or that girls body spray. Absolutely. Not bad but definitely not unisex. Advertising gaffe? Or is it simply so guys who don’t necessarily wish to wear women’s perfume can have an excuse?

To me this smells like a snow cone with condensed milk on top, with a background of something similar to old spice, but very light. Also it’s somewhat fizzy and effervescent.

deep and sweet. another celeb gourmand to add to my collection. i like this one, despite not being able to detect the listed notes. it smells like another plummy vanilla to me. it smells … typical? like a typical young celeb fragrance, but that’s what i was looking for. silage is meh to decent, and it doesn’t smell particularly cheap or synthetic. marketed as unisex, but my son thinks it smells too feminine for him

  18. :

Didn’t even smell it before purchasing.
First spray on my wrist, the first fragrance that came up into my mind was M by Mariah Carey but the musk note in Shawn’s Signature makes it more unisex in my opinion. Longevity is quite amazing for a celebrity fragrance and I could definitely smell the pineapple in it. I can see myself wearing this as my signature office scent.

  19. :

Sugary, sweet, not too sweet, but ‘very gourmand’. I can smell only sweetness, no flowers, no fruits.

Bold and warm and creamy. It was long long ago that I was a teen, and expected this to appeal to teens but here I am loving it! Great for a winter night around the fireplace! My husband loves it too, but for me to wear, not for him.

I can be such a perfume snob sometimes….I’ll walk past a celebrity fragrance and i can actually catch myself putting my nose in the air like it just don’t care (see what I did there lol) but my 10 year old daughter is my middle and she is so super girly, and naturally she loooves this kids music so she came up to me after spraying it on a card and was so excited for me to smell it and we’ll i must say it’s beautiful. It’s a very fresh type, almost reminds me of the Calvin Klein unisex fragrances so if you are into those you’ll dig this

  22. :

    3 out of 5

This is a very heavy sent. I don’t see myself wearing it much in the day time, but it would be a nice night time fragrance. I’m also not sure a man would wear it, unless he wanted to smell like caramel and pineapples.
It reminds me a lot of Taylor Swift’s perfumes… a cross between Wonderstruck and Incredible Things.

  23. :

My sister says: It’s supposed to be a unisex fragrance, however, that’s not what I’m getting. I don’t see a man wearing this.

  24. :

So I received a sample from this fragrance and was immediately intrigued: for his & her. I love a good unisex perfume! However, to my nose it smells like the name is derived from the marketing department rather than the the scent itself.
It opens bold and sweet, quite strong but not sharp. Pretty soon it settles down and the sillage becomes soft; it also does not last too long. The scent has a familiar ring to it, but cannot put my finger on it. In other reviews I noticed people mentioned Britney Spears, I never had that one so wouldn’t know about that. Maybe it’s simply the dominant dulce leche, though I can’t say this perfume is standard either.
All in all, I like it but would not buy it. Though it is too sweet for my taste, other people may disagree and secretly I sometimes have a sweet tooth has well. To me, the problem is more that of the poor longevity and soft sillage; if you make an out-speaking fragrance, go all the way! Like La Vie est Belle did. You may add: ‘but this is a celebrity fragrance, you cannot expect the same of it as a celebrated perfume house’. Well, you’d be perfectly right. Nevertheless, with the price this perfume is currently advertised for where I live, one may expect quality more in that direction as well.

This is such a strong fragrance. Really powerful and long lasting. Has a real kick to it. Personally it’s not for me, far too strong and incredible sweet.
I like sweet smells but this was really sugary in my opinion.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

I didn’t really expect this fragrance to smell so feminine. For a unisex perfume it smells very much aimed toward the female market. Also, it smells very much like Private Show by Britney Spears.
The first thing I noticed about the composition was immediately the Dulce de Leche. Sadly it completely overpowers much of the composition.
The Dulce de Leche is the first part of the composition that I smelt and it is very dominant as it is in Private Show. The Fragipani does reveal itself briefly, enveloping the Dulce de Leche before making way for the Maple Sap which accompanies the Dulce de Leche, giving it a slightly syrupy scent which is the only way I can describe it. The entirety of the notes have a slight warming characteristic about it which may or may not be the Musk. Sometimes I think that there is a slight Rose type smell coming through but I can’t really pinpoint it.
All in all a very nice perfume that I think will appeal to Women more than Men. If you like Private Show by Britney Spears you will definitely love this.

I sprayed this on the back of my hand an hour ago. It’s lovely! A good dupe for BS Private Show, so naturally, now that I’m home, I’ve sprayed on Private Show so I can compare them 🙂
The dulce de leche note is the main player in both fragrances, hence the similarity. The main difference between the two is that Private Show has an obvious coffee note hanging out in the background which makes it more musky and cozy. SM Signature is a bit fresher and has a slight tropical vibe (I suppose the pineapple is doing this, though I can’t detect it as an individual note).
Both are soft scents which stay close to the skin. But I think BS Private Show has better longevity, since SM Signature is fading quickly after an hour. It’s still there, but a lot quieter. I haven’t detected any development in either fragrance so they’re linear.
SM Signature is listed as unisex. Any man who wants to wear this will smell delicious but I think traditional department stores will put this in the women’s section.

Tropical and fruity fresh. I didn’t know this guy had a fragrance out. I tested it spontaneously in boots. I was surprisingly impressed. It would make for a lovely summer scent. I have never heard or seen the first 2 notes in a fragrance- so I might purchase this just for that reason alone, I am always looking for scents with unique notes – although I cannot really detect or identify them. This is an acquatic tropical fruity fresh fragrance- it does not smell gourmand or sweet to me. I like it, better than a lot of other celebrity fragrances. However, it is safe and not unique per say- still nice and I would use it. The bottle with the charm is quite aesthetic as opposed to many other celebrity fragrance bottles (cough cough Justin Beiber).
It definitely ventures more towards feminine than masculine or unisex. I wouldn’t really call this unisex at all- it smells feminine. However, I have never understood the whole fragrances for men

I blind bought this off of Shawn Mendes’ website. I gave it a spray last night and was surprised at how sweet it smelled. It smells nice but at the same time smells like your typical floral fruity women’s celebrity fragrance. I think the bottle and the box is the most masculine thing about the fragrance. It does smell nice, but just a little more feminine than I had hoped for or really wanted. All I get out of this is floral fruity with a touch of the maple and dulche de leche. I like Shawn Mendes’ music and the bottle is nice, but I am not sure about the fragrance. It just smells a little too feminine for me. Maybe it will grow on me, but a warning to everyone out there, it does smell very feminine.
UPDATE: Wore this fragrance all day today at work and received compliments on it twice from women. Both said it smelled wonderful and loved it on me. I asked if it smelled to feminine and one said it smelled just right. It definitely lasts the whole day and projects nicely. The drydown is also more masculine than the feminine beginning. Guess this fragrance grew on me after all.

Quick review, tested this out today.. IMO borders slightly more feminine, (like the vibe you get from Ariana Grande’s Franky) but if you’re more gender fluid with scents (like me) or like fruity sweet, then I’m sure you’ll like this, Spritzed it on got a fruity tart opening with a creamy warm dry down. Felt it didn’t last that long but I might need to try it out again..prob wouldn’t buy this for myself but if someone gifted it to me I could see my self reaching for it every now & then. In all deff. not a bad scent compared to some other celeb. scents out there.

Major dupe for Britney Spears Private Show. Great perfume none the less and I do love it but in terms of smell it’s identical to PS by Ms Spears.
I love the bottle and I love how it has a story to it compared to Private Show. I love how it features the design of his guitar tattoo and it has a guitar pick on some guitar string (don’t know if it’s actually guitar string) around the neck of the bottle.
Despite starting off as identical to Private Show, the dry down begins to become its own fragrance and about an hour and a half in, the smell of cedar cuts through the caramel smell and you get this sweet scent with some woody noted to it, so yes despite starting off very feminine it does dry down and become a somewhat of a guys scent (depends on who the guy is wearing it and if they can pull it off as it’s still very sweet).
I own Private Show so I’m still deciding if I will buy Shaun Mendes.

I adore this! Sweet and tart. It’s much sweeter than I expected, but that’s not a complaint. I definitely get the dulce de leche vibe which adds a sugary, milky creaminess to the tart fruit. I do pick up the sour citrus and sharp cedar underneath the fruit, but it’s very faint at first.
The first couple of hours, it’s far more on the feminine side, but the citrus/cedar combo really starts to show itself after that, and the scent overall becomes softer, fresher and more unisex. I purchased this the other day to share with my two kids (boys 6 & 7yrs), who both love Shawn Mendes’ songs, and they both love this scent as well.
I’ve been so tired of fruity florals lately, but this one was an instant hit for me.

Smells very nice and fresh, and fruity. Kind of a typical female celeb fragrance. I have a hard time seeing this being worn by men but I haven’t really worn it on skin myself. This smells very nice regardless and I would enjoy smelling this on my SO.

no, no and no. thank-you anyway.
i suspect this will be in the 19.99 clearance rack by next year. sort of like what happens to all of the other celeb frags. sorry to be so grumpy about this but i am tired of these fragrances coming out at such high prices when the target market is clearly teens and young people who likely can’t really afford this.
if you do love this fragrance, please, do not be offended by this as it is just my rant. rant over. thanks and have a nice day.

One of the nicer done celeb fragrances. The main accords listed here on fragrantica are in order: Sweet, Fruity, White Floral, Citrus, Tropical….BAM!! The accords are spot-on (does not always happen for me).
This opens as a fresh clean citrus-y feminine (sorry boys?!) fragrance, and pretty much remains feminine-smelling for me. There is a fragrance I have used before in my younger years that this reminds me of, perhaps it was a Bath and Body Works fragrance. But this does not smell cheap nor manufactured, like many B&BW and celeb scents can for me. This also to my surprise has a slight vintage scent to it. A youthful scent. A fun, carefree scent. A relaxing day scent. A beach day scent. A fresh clean scent. Very soft. Nothing heavy at all with this one.
Note-wise, I can pick up the dulce de leche, the frangipini, the pineapple, a bit of apple. Then the lemon, the maple sap, and finally, perhaps a wee bit of the the oak and the musk (barely, if at all, but I am sure they are there, balancing out the other notes).
Nicely done. I think this will make a nice transition from Summer into Fall fragrance. But actually even though at the time of me writing this review, this is listed heavily as a Fall fragrance, I think this is actually far more a Summer fragrance. Spring, Summer, and maybe early Fall. But no matter, nicely done.
I typically do not have luck with celeb scents, but every once in a while one comes along and surprises me in a nice way. This is one of those. I heavily debated this one and almost scoffed it off, as I figured it would be another dud. So glad I took the plunge and picked up a little rollerball. Very pleased with this one. But then, I have always been a fan of citrus, white floral, clean scents. This does not last all day, but the rollerball is great to carry in the purse for a quick touch-up during the day. And to think I really almost did not order this one.Only downside is this one does not last long, about 2 to 3 hours, tops. But again, being I have the rollerball version of this, I can carry the rollerball in my purse and just refresh as needed during the day. I like this one. Quite well.

Did NOT test on skin, only a card. I CAN’T BELIEVE no one said it reminded them of Private Show. VERY similar. This does have some sort of citrus background, but it has a very strong caramel note (Private Show and reminds me a BIT of Fancy but lighter). Caramel and a LIGHT citrus background.
I’m going to test on skin, but on the card, this is unmistakably sweet. I honestly like it, and I will buy it, but Shawn Mendes actually uses Gucci Guilty, so it is strange he did such a sweet fragrance and unisex.
EDIT: Tested on skin, this is Private Show all the way but with citrus. A very feminine, sweet, caramel fragrance. The bottle is pretty.

Lovely! Tried this for a second time today, and I like it a lot, more than enough to buy it very soon. It’s sweet – but not sickly sweet – and fruity, yet different, and somehow there seems to be a salt note in there although not listed. It’s light and lasted about 3-4 hours on my skin before becoming a very office friendly soft skin scent. I like that it’s marketed as unisex and I do believe it can work for both men and women, but I think it will appeal more to women. It’s summer now here, but I suspect this will be even better this fall. Really a good start for the first scent of this young man’s new line.

I really hate when I find a nice scent that my nose lives but gives me a headache. It’s a struggle. I’m looking at the notes and have no idea what is inducing the headache. It’s fresh and sweet, the apples and other fruits are definitely present. It has an Avon-ish note to it, really reminds me of an Avon fragrance. I tried to pass off to my son but he doesn’t feel like it’s unisex.

  44. :

Nice fragrance. Sweet smelling, more toward feminine but it’s cool that it’s being marketed to both genders. I do like It, but as was pointed out to me, it doesn’t last very long. It’s also very light smelling so that may have something to do with it. But I’m not a hater.

The Main notes according to your votes list is dead on! As to what I’m Smelling it is very sweet definitely a try on the skin scent. But very unique, honestly cannot say that I have smelled anything like it before. Also I really like the bottle kinda Mason Jar’ ish 🙂

Looking at the notes, I don’t see anything that could be unisex. I’m only getting women’s perfume. Maybe the lemon and cedar will be present enough to show the masculine side of Signature. It will be interesting to test that out and see what it really smells like.
