Description
SHAMBHALA – Journey to the Land of Mystique and Bliss
Settings: Somewhere deep in the alpine terrain of Himalaya, there is a hidden land that one used to hear about its legend through folktales. Narcotic and sweet scents of white night-blooming jasmines and red roses weave into the smoky and mystical fumes of the earthy Tibetan incenses, which are lit during the sacred “Puja”. Notes of white sandalwood, agarwood, Himalayan cedar, frankincense, myrrh, balsams, Himalayan spikenard resonate with each other, with a soft touch of saffron. Himalayan fossilized amber exudes its warm and exotic aroma of the Orient, adding more mystical facets to the fragrance.
A harmonious, mystical scent that is like no other. No traditional “top note” is being used here. The narcotic note of night-blooming jasmine, entwined with the enchanting note of fresh roses, emerge upfront. The floral sweetness is cut by the complex Tibetan incense accord. Consisting of Mysore sandalwood, oud, Himalayan cedar, frankincense (olibanum), myrrh, spikenard and many precious essences, the Tibetan incense accord exhibits an intricate combo of mystical, incensy, woody, balsamic, bitter, and pungent facets, successfully reconstructing the earthiness and unpretentiousness of traditional handcrafted Tibetan incenses. To emphasize this further, genuine Himalayan fossilized amber oil is incorporated into the blend, adding touch of smoky and warm notes. Towards the dry down, the scent then silently warms up and surrounds you in chants of serenity.
Shambala is available as 30ml extrait de parfum and 30ml eau de parfum. Shambala was launched in 2015. The nose behind this fragrance is Eugene Au.

I’m sure those unfamiliar with Auphorie would appreciate Fragrantica’s correcting the spelling of ‘Shambhala’ on this website. The name of the fragrance appears clearly printed on the bottle pictured above.

Dreamlike, atypical surreal rose set in an intricate accord. The fragrance of spiritual fantasy. Shambala is not like anything I’ve smelled before. It’s hard to pick out individual notes. Instead they eddy and evolve. A glimpse of rose amid beautiful whorls of powdery impresssions. Soft sillage, stronger longevity. Airy, rarified scent of perfume virtuosity.

I voted the best I could based on the incorrect notes; otherwise I’d say amber-apple > incense-jasmine > tobacco-tea > rose-musk > lotus-animalics
It smells dusty and a little sweet…I perceived fruity cocoa sitting on frankincense & myrrh (1:2). It’s well-balanced and not overly anything. Pleasant and mysterious.
