Description

The new fragrance by Estee Lauder – Sensuous, arrives in July 2008. This fragrance is moving the boundaries from already well known Estee Lauder floral notes towards opulent oriental woodsy-amber concept, which will praise the beauty and sensuality of women of all age.

Sensuous is created in cooperation with the nose Annie Buzantian of Firmenich, which composed it of sensual lily notes, magnolia and jasmine petals in the top. The heart brings aromas of molten wood and amber, while the base introduces sandalwood, black pepper, juicy mandarin pulp and honey.

The fragrance will be available as 30ml (1 fl.oz.), 50ml (1.7 fl.oz.) and 100 ml (3.4 fl.oz) EDP, and 15 ml (0.5 fl.oz.) pure perfume, with matching fragrant body care collection.

The bottle draws attention with its simple, yet very elegant lines. It is made of heavy glass with waves, with rose-gold top and name imprinted in purple letters.

This design was selected for several reasons, including the intention of the designers to make it in line with pervious Estee Lauder editions.

The photographs were shot by Craig McDean. The ad faces for Sensuous will be Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Hurley, Carolyn Murphy and Hilary Rhoda.

Ahhh…this is cinnamon toast with light sandalwood and a spoonful of honey. It has none of the coconut of Sensual Nude and in my eyes this is perfect for sweater weather. I’ve found that it lasts for days on sweaters but not on bare skin. Its projection is moderate and fades to arms length after a couple of hours. I reach for this when I crave something cozy and delicately spicy and unobtrusive.

I tested Sensuous Nude a while back and didn’t like it that much. Too much coconut for my taste. But this one I am loving! This fragrance oozes honey and is thick, sweet, and golden. A great combination of honey, woods, amber, pepper, and lily. Warm, cozy, and indeed sensuous!

This is a fragrance for people who like to wear perfume but do not want anyone to really smell their fragrance . as a matter of fact , you might need Sherlock Holmes to find it after you lay out about $75 .

I recently purchased this. I really like it because it is different, unusual. I don’t see this as a winter fragrance. I feel it can be worn for any season. It’s summer now and it fits very nicely into the season. The fragrance has its own strong character. And ladies, you will not smell like everyone else when you wear this beauty.

I am the victim of my own fragrance snobbery. I love sandalwood and spices and this has definitely been recommended to me in the past but I always ignored it – how could Estée Lauder really deliver the quality when formulations of Diptyque, Lutens and a host of other woody scents all feel thin these days?
The good news is that I finally got over myself. I love this – the honey note and lily help smooth out the feel of the sandalwood, and the pepper and amber give it a warm spice. It is complex – some florals, plenty of wood, honey, pepper, spice and amber – but not complicated and would suit most occasions.
This is clearly inspired by Feminité du Bois but it is more smooth and creamy than the translucent woody of the Lutens. It is also very similar to Tom Ford’s Santal Blush, not surprising, I suppose, when they are both owned by the same company? Santal Blush is more daring and spicy whereas as Sensuous is more sweet and spicy.
This is an excellent scent and an excellent price. Longevity and sillage are both good

I will never be without this fragrance. Soft, but not too soft. Sweet, but not too sweet. The amber/pepper/sandalwood combination is perfection. It’s great for any season. Casual and formal occasions. It reminds me a bit of Christian Dior Dolce Vita without the cinnamon. In my top three favorites.

I don’t really enjoy the honey note on myself. It smells kind of “old”, like dried fruit. I wanted to love it, but I prefer the honey in scents like TokyoMilk Honey and the Moon.

A soft, somehow beach-y scent.I’d recommend it to others as a “my skin but better” scent, but it’s not my thing.

Unbelievably long-lasting, close-personal, still long-lasting. Warm, almond and floral. Similar to A. Levine Women, feminine. I would recommend.
I do not recommend it for hot weather, then it is sour.

  10. :

Smoky yet sweet, dark but light. Wholesome magnolia, vanillin lily and jasmine notes in the top. It has a big heart of molten wood and amber, and is underpinned with sandalwood and cracked black pepper. Facets that glitter with mandarin juice and pique the flavor of orange blossom honey open up in layers. The dry-down is a bit too smoky. Not a balanced composition.

I have this perfume in my wardrobe and have worn it a few times, always on the fence about it. Today I hugged someone who was radiating the warmest, most wonderful scent. At first I couldn’t place it, and then I realized it was Sensuous. This encounter changed everything and made me crave it. The woman who was wearing it is a vibrant, creative soul whose beauty radiates with confidence and strength. This perfume fit her perfectly. Estee Lauder is my favorite house because their perfumes are always timeless, quality offerings that don’t necessarily follow the current trends. Now I look forward to wearing Sensuous and basking in that confidence and grace.

Thie was mostly (and pleasantly) sandalwood on me and I agree that this is mostly a linear fragrance. I suggest if you want to buy TF Santal Blush, give this a shot before. I wore both, did not notice any groundbreaking difference. TF was meh in terms of longevity and sillage. You may save your bucks.

I tried several times with this one. It smells beautiful — woody, peppery, dripping with honey, with a warm campfire vibe. It’s lovely, but it stays linear, and I get tired of smelling it all day. It gives me a headache eventually.
Edit: I tried again on a rainy day. Sprayed lightly and enjoyed its sweet warmth radiating softly all day. Many perfumes are like this for me — I have to learn not to review them too soon!

My second favorite fragrance. The Arabian feel and the light citrus scent just create the perfect harmony, i hope it will never be discontinued.

I am very sad that Estee Lauder is discontinuing the Sensuous line. Estee Lauder makeup and fragrances were always in my life.My Nana wore Knowing, my Aunt wore Tuscany per Donna, my sister wore Beyond Paradise,my friend wore Beautiful, my neighbor wore Cinnabar, my friend’s mother wore Aliage,my cousin wore Dazzling Silver, another grandmother wore Youth Dew, my mother wears Pleasures…and finally I had an Estee! Sensuous. Everything about it is my find of fragrance and I truly love it. I am going to miss it so much. I cannot believe the sales dumped so badly this fragrance didn’t even last 10 years on the market! I love the scent and I have enjoyed it since it launched. The market is beyond oversaturated and there’s room only for products that get pushed to the forefront, for their 15 minutes of fame, whether they deserve it or not.

Got this last week. Disappointed. If you are used to strong scents you won’t like this, it will seem weak. Nude and Noir are amazing

Oehw! This name fits the scent. It’s sensuous! It somehow reminds me of walking into a Lush store. I would like some matching bath products. I can’t say it’s clean but it is a scent that would be fitting for bath robe moments. The soft, sweet honey and the wood notes are the strongest. The ylang ylang, amber and white florals add in some sensuality. The mandarin and pepper are subtile but uplifting and tingly! It’s exactly enough. The woody balsamicness with the honey makes me think of a spa too. A spa for ladies. It’s not offensive at all. You could wear this scent everywhere. It’s a beautiful perfume.

I’ve never been a big fan of woody perfumes, but oh my is this one gorgeous! The opening is what I would call a woody gourmand….sandalwood, yes, but lots of lovely sweet notes from the ylang-ylang, orange, amber and honey. I struggle with pepper, so thankfully it’s very subtle here. As Sensuous dries down the sandalwood becomes more prominent and it becomes, well, sensuous. This is a perfume that this non-wood gal would actually consider purchasing!

AnitaTheBanana, great comparison! It really smells like Lush stores.

Oh my! The opening is gorgeous! Strong Spicy Sandalwood! I love sandal and that’s a confirmation of how beautiful , creamy , spicy and woodsy this note can be. Yes, it’s pungent but I don’t mind. Strong sandalwood feels a bit like cinnamon – just lovely. unfortunately, the dry down is a strong creamy note, similarly disappointing like Sensuous Nude. Yet Sensuous is way better! Can’t wait to test Levine!

Lovely scent. For me it’s in the same category as my all time beloved Hermes Eau des Merveilles in that it reminds me of sunwarmed skin during hot summer. To me that is why it deserves it’s name. It’s sensuous. Probably mainly due to the amber note. I love that. Therefore I love to wear during summer. To me it’s a scent I never get bored of. It’s timeless; love it!!
    Don’t like both flankers though.

I believe this is what winged angels smell like. A very soft, delicate scent that sits close to the skin. The honey softens the amber in this one. Sometimes amber can be too pronounced and will overshadow the other notes. This is perfection. I can’t believe anyone would find this fragrance objectionable. Absolutely lovely!

A very nice Sandalwood with warm honey drizzled over it.
I’m a huge black pepper fan but the pepper is very Subtle.
    Beautiful bottle.
just don’t get it in your eye, ouchy.

I can definitely smell the soothing Ylang ylang in this perfume quite strong. As well as the lovely, elegant and super sexy and feminine white flowers. All these combined with the wonderfully sensuous amber and sandalwood scents make it a truly beautiful, unique, captivating and super chic perfume. I have only been wearing this for a few days now- too early to say this perhaps, but this may become my signature scent. Definitely my favourite at the moment. It is so wonderfully soothing, calming, creamy and feminine. A wonderful scent.

I am testing Sensuous right now. I wear Sensuous Nude almost daily but I had never really paid much attention to the original. I like it but I don’t love it. That’s not a negative thing, though. In fact, I will probably buy a full bottle. Okay, onto the review.
Like most Estée Lauder perfumes, you absolutely cannot judge it on the initial 5-10 minutes. It needs time to settle. First blast was plastic, but then it settled into a sandalwood/amber/cinnamon combo. Very nice and warm. Then, there is a gradual transition on my skin where honey comes to the forefront. My husband said I smelled like a cinnamon cookie, lol. The sandalwood stays fairly prominent. I think this more oriental than gourmand, though, as I never feel it ventures into the edible, although obviously my husband thinks otherwise
UPDATE: So, having Sensuous and Nude wrist-to-wrist, I prefer the Nude. The original Sensuous becomes extremely woody and sharp during the drydown, and that’s just not me. Please bear in mind that SN is the only perfume in my collection to be woody, as woods just don’t seem to be a note I enjoy, so take this review with a grain of salt. If I could have kept the first 30 minutes of Sensuous, where the only way I can describe the scent is: a spice market with cinnamon, cloves, peppers, vanilla in the heat of the noon-day sun being sold from stalls made of sandalwood. One of the most impressive orientals I’ve smelled to date. Anyway, that scent would have been FB worthy for me without hesitation. Once the woods take over, though, that’s all I smell…very sharp woods. On my skin, it turns very masculine.
Sensuous Nude keeps from veering into sharp woods with the creamy coconut and the musk. AN is one of my great perfume loves of all time.
As an addendum, I prefer the whole Sensuous line over the Modern Muse line. Both are woody but I prefer how it’s done in the Sensuous line.
    The Nude is kept from

I just received my bottle today and was able to compare it to Sensuous Nude (which I adore). I noticed that both have the same DNA which is so great!
SENSUOUS lets me actually smell HONEY & CHOCOLATE in a soft, non-overpowering and non-classical-caramel-drizzle-Gourmand kind of way. Long lasting juice for grownups who want to smell clean, sweet, creamy and, well, sensuous. This is a “my skin scent but better”-kind of perfume (another one in that category would be LOVELY by SJP … very close to my skin but more on the flowery side). I think it should be used with a light hand though. It is on the stronger side but when lightly used, it works its magic on my skin much better.
SENSUOUS NUDE on the other hand gives me HONEY, COCONUT and creamy SOAP. It behaves quieter than Sensuous on my skin.
The Sensuous line is pretty unknown here in Germany and I am happy that I have found it.
EDIT: after trying each Sensuous on me, I prefer the NUDE version, because it smells more youthful and more creamy to me. The smoky side of classic Sensuous is interesting but reminds me of a Gentleman’s Club and cigar smoke or smokers in general (I do smoke myself but actually don’t want a reminder of that via perfume). Next step is to ask a friend to smell my wrists and give me an honest opinion.

Sensuous is deliciously warm, darkly peppered, Indian red santal coated in gobs of thick honey! I received a bottle in a swap and will be forever grateful. This juice is wonderful! While I do like the Sensuous Nude flanker, the coconutty note seems all too commonly associated with suntan lotion. But this… This woody, spicy-sweet beauty is absolutely timeless! I hope to always keep a bottle in my collection. While often compared with Adam Levine (a fragrance I also enjoy), I find them to be entirely different interpretations of sandalwood. Levine is all about white santal dipped in creamy, saffron-spiced vanilla making it far more milky and less woody then Sensuous. Two sprays of Sensuous last me well over 8 hours on skin, (longer on clothes). Sillage that rests close to the body, enhancing the scent of one’s own skin in an indeed, utterly sensuous way. Perfection!

Based on all the notes this one should be one that I`d instantly like. But sadly no. No. I must blame my body chemistry..Although a good friend bought if for herself to have something other than Coco Madmoiselle and Just Cavalli on her dresser table, and she didn`t like it either – in fact she tried to persuade me to take it from her at a reasonable price..
I just find it way too sweet, another example of the current trend. As it progresses into the drydown it develops into something a bit more bearable – probably as the honey fades – but I would never pick it for myself and if I got it as a present I`d pass it on as soon as possible..to someone who likes sweet and gourmand.

I love this one. Soft, musky floral. Not overpowering.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

EL Sensuous just isn’t the one for me. At first I get a slight white flower note and then I am blasted with a smoke smell on my skin. Even though there are no smoke notes listed but I do see where others have noted smoke as well. Then it moves on more white floral note and powder. Then it turns old, plastic and sickly sweet soap note, then more white flower and woods & powder. Reminds me of a tired perfume after a fantastic all nighter at the Disco. Maybe because of the smoke smell but unfortunately a big NO for me. However does have longevity and silage

This one sprays on..with the dry-down of Adam Levine for Women….which is a good thing !!!! AL goes on a little harsh…with Sensuous…you pass that first harshness.
They smell very similar….like sisters…not clones…to my nose. I also have to report that AL lasts longer and projects much more. I would still like a bottle of Sensuous some day..and before it gets discontinued…sigh….

  34. :

    3 out of 5

If you like super spicy scents, this one will be great for you! It was WAY too spicy for me. But that’s a preference thing due to my skin chemistry turning spice masculine somehow. It’s really executed well and has good longevity and decent silage. I wish it had worked for me. It smells beautiful on my mom who I gave my bottle to.

  35. :

    4 out of 5

This is very peppery and spicy to me as well. The wood in it is excellent. Very good quality and powdery. This is not too sweet to my nose though, which is a bit disappointing because I was expecting more honey. I think I’m gonna buy Adam Levine’s scent now.
    Edit:
I bought Adam Levine. I prefer this because it is much much sweeter and calmer…it doesn’t hurt my nose the way Adam Levine does.

  36. :

this one goes very ‘oily’ and peppery on me throughout.I enjoy Sensuous Nude much more.

  37. :

    5 out of 5

Sensuous smells exactly like its namesake; this is one of those linear fragrances that don’t evolve very much but it smells so amazing that it doesn’t matter. This was close to becoming my signature scent, but I found it rather difficult to wear on a daily basis. It’s something that I reach for at night, after a hot shower…before bed, or for a quiet evening out with my husband.
Sensuous starts with a blast of sandalwood and cedar, these are the primary notes that can be picked out amongst the mellowing warmth of honey and amber. I sense a little pepper in between but it complements the woodiness of this fragrance so well that you can hardly separate the two. There is a bit of orange on the cool down which invokes a clean powdery feeling to the structure of this perfume. With the exception of ylang-ylang, I did not detect any florals.
I consider Sensuous to be one of my top five powdery fragrances, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever smelled before and I feel this is due to the unique nature of its ingredients. The honey and amber radiates with warmth and sensuality, it reminds me of silk sheets and vanilla body cream, very luxurious and decadent. At its heart this is a boozy powder with balsamic undertones and hints of warm incense. It’s very feminine but not immature; this is unequivocally a woman’s fragrance.
Overall I am consistently enamored with Sensuous; as the seasons shift into December I find myself embracing it like a warm blanket before a roaring fire. I can imagine this to be a perfect companion for autumn and winter. Sillage and longevity are moderate, this is a skin scent meant to entice and seduce with ease; apparently it works…I am constantly under its spell!

Sensuous is definiely one of my favourite woody fragrances. I love the notes of honey and amber in it. It’s totally mesmerizing, soothing, comforting and sensual. It’s good for every season and every time of the day. Lasts on skin for several hours.

  40. :

This perfume has a familiar smell of soap, of an old soap made of natural ingredients, nothing syntetic about it,like home made soap.Sometimes it smells to me like washed clothes that stood in a drawer for years and haven’t been refreshed and thus got stale.i think it is because it has woody notes combined with notes that smell like soap.
But mainly it has a delicate sweet smell like washed sheets on skin.It is a feminine perfume. This is how my room used to smell when i was little.
I would’t wear it often, already my room smells like that, like fresh sheets most of the time but that’s comforting and nice.

Finally sniffed this at Macy’s today. Was so excited to try it…being that a lot of reviewers compare it to Adam Levine for Women…which is one of my TOP 5 favorites. Well, Sensuous is not “bad”…but nowhere close to my nose, to Adam Levine…The 2 to 3 sprays I put on the top of my hand,,,,I got no spice…or sandalwood….amber??? WHERE ??? I will pass on this one.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

The spicyness in the opening almost stings my nose, but the drydown is just powdery/creamy goodness. It’s comfortable and also sexy, and the longevity is great. It lasts all day on my skin, delivering little whispers of warmth all day.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

I am reviewing this because I just now realized I never have and I wore it today. I will start by saying that I love Sensuous Noir so much more BUT that one is not for everyone and this one is much more lovable for most and it is a very wonderful scent. This is one of the rare scents that matches it’s name. It IS sensuous, also decadent and opulent. This one will make you feel like a queen. Warm, creamy, woodsy, the honey note really ties it all together. If you like woodsy/ambery scents I highly suggest this one, if you have never tried it, you simply must.

This scent is beautiful for evening outs. It smells of sandalwood and has mild sweetness to it. Smells a bit like crystal noir. Linear yet sophisticated but not memorable enough.

I could DROWN IN THIS SCENT because I love it soooooooooo much!!! Ive died and went to Sensuous Heaven!!!! SOFT, CREAMY, everything a woman could want!!!! This is like nothing ive ever had in my collection and im glad because I don’t want to smell like everyone else. I just went on a trip to the East Coast and every woman at the Airport smells like Britney Spears Fantasy type of scents, Fruit Baskets!!! Not me, NEVER. Im unique in this scent and LOVE IT!!!!

Such a soft skin scent, I can barely pick up any notes. It’s very pleasant, probably great for a person who doesn’t typically like wearing perfume. Very low sillage; only enough for whoever’s kissing you! Yet even the next day I can still smell it on me.

    2nd review:
I used to love sandalwood but I can’t get along well with sandal dominant perfumes,I still like a hint of it in combination with vanilla and other notes, but woodsy, even sandalwoody fragrances are not my thing anymore
I decided to give sensous a try and see how do I feel about it now
It’s unbelievably amazing that I still love it!
Yes there is a dominant sandalwood here, but it’s dewed in peppery amber and is so well blended with honeyed florals that It’s still lovely to my nose,I love top and middle notes more than it’s balmy woody base but it’s still very nice, warm, soothing, cuddly and deep..I really wished there was a flanker of it with more honey and amber and florals..I think I’d better layer it with amber solinotes to see wheter I like it more or not..
Ok,so not still among my top tens but still lovely, wearable and sensous
BTW,longevity and sillage are much better in cold weather

  51. :

    3 out of 5

It was a very risky blind buy for me because I really dislike sensous noir,it’s like men’s Cologne on me but this one is beyond my expectations and I’m really happy that I took the risk of this blind buy
I don’t like woody fragrances but sandalwood is a lovely exception(also cashmeran)
All notes are very well blended in sensous, though I can pick up all the notes listed here, creamy sandalwood dewed in warm, sweet honey and spicy amber and a combination of my most beloved floral(lily, magnolia, jasmine and ylang-ylang)
Sensous is really true to its name,it’s sensous, warm, seductive,it’s deliciously sweet and spicy without being cloying,it’s mature, smooth, deep but not heavy,I really love it and maybe it’s going to become one of my top tens
Though it’s better for cold seasons it’s not irritating in heat..Longevity and sillage could be better but they are acceptable
I love you Estee lauder, this one is very different from your other perfumes, however this is very lovely too
    ❤❤❤❤❤

I’m not really a fan of Estee Lauder fragrances. However, it isn’t bad for me with honey and woody scent with a longevity of around 4 to 6 hours. It is good for cooler climates and warmer nights.

  53. :

this scent is ok.. pretty, fresh bouquet of white flower, honey is there but distinct, small amount of citrusness.. but i dont get the woodsy notes at all.. on my skin its all white flower and orange. however its not offensive and could be an office wear.

    On me:
Powdery, some sweetness–like a faint honey note. I liked it for a minute, but it became reminiscent of a baby doll’s powdered rubber “skin” from childhood. It wasn’t unpleasant, but I couldn’t kick the connection between the scents from my mind.
I really enjoy Sensuous Nude, in which my skin picks up the woody notes with no synthetic vibe at all. There is quite a difference between the two for me, regardless of the flanker status.

When you first spray it, you can feel balsamic and honey. As time flies and the perfume makes magic along with your skin, you can feel the soap, the freshness, but also the sexiness: amber, the sweet part and the woods!
I believe that it’s a perfume of confidence and sensuality for everyone who wears it!
I smell it and I imagine a beautiful woman walking on the street, wearing a wonderful dress and holding a shopping basket, then sitting in a cafe and waiting for her lover!
    That’s sensuous to me!
Update: I wore this on Saturday, then I was in the Mall for shopping and between 30 min two women complimented me for my perfume! Success!

I’ve been wearing this perfume for about 8 hours now and i can still faintly smell it. I had gotten a nice sized sample from a friend on fragrantica, and i have to say it is georgeous.,Usually my husband likes fruity floral scents that i find sometimes boring so i didn’t think my husband would like this one like i do. Out of 12 samples he was smelling he actually picked this one as his top 3 favorites. When i first spray it im consumed with sandlewood and honey, yummy. Ooh this is good sandlewood. After a few minutes i keep thinking ive smelled this before and it finally came to me. This turned a bit powdery but in a good way. It smells just like my grandmas makeup cabinet when i was 10. I used to innocently snoop through her makeup cabinet and it was filled with body powders, perfumes, lip stick, face powder. I would put the face powder abd lip stick on and feel so grown up and like i did something wrong, lol. Sensous smells like the face powder grandma used to wear. The first 3 hours i wore this perfume i thought of my grandma and the easy and carefree times as a child. This perfume makes me feel happy, warm, safe, and brings wonderful memories. It is also a perfume that i imagine wearing with a over sized cozy cashmere sweater next to a cracking fire place. Beautiful. Im thinking I’ll get a full sized bottle for Mothers Day!

Very potent sandalwood and amber; deep and sweet. And very heavy. I am amazed that anyone would wear this to the office or feel it is a skin scent! It’s one of those types of perfumes you hope your neighbor on the plane isn’t wearing….not because it’s awful, but because it is a powerhouse. Initially I thought I was going to like it, but within minutes the woods took over and it was too much. Definitely not for me.

SENSUOUS is a beautiful fragrance with a dominant note of sandalwood warmed by a few drops of honey. SENSUOUS is classic and classy, but in no way conservative or boring. It works year-’round and goes well with jeans, cashmere, velvet, linen, silk, real jewelry, faux bling, office suits, swimsuits and birthday suits. Sillage is moderate and longevity is very good.

I love it. Which is strange because this is the perfume I neglected and then was surprised when I really liked it. It’s big honey and woody to start with.. I’m thinking Mmmmm this brings back a sense of atavistic smells. It’s probably the sandalwood. It has a pretty good staying power. I like this. You can do a lot worse!

I just got this in the EDP, and it’s a lot nicer than I used to think it was. I always wanted to like it, but couldn’t. I think my tastes have changed slightly. I still don’t like cedar notes, or maybe it’s that my body chemistry just magnifies that note too much. I’m finding that I do like Sandalwood though. I also love the note of honey in this. I don’t get a lot of the floral notes, and that’s okay with me. I have Sensuous Nude, and Sensuous Noir, so figured it was time I got the original. I still don’t like Sensuous Nude, which, note wise, was the one I blind bought thinking I’d love.
I also have Adam Levigne for Women, and I find them to be similar, but I think the Adam Levigne is actually a little nicer. More well rounded, and unique. I like them both though.

Opens with a strong sweet honey smell. It’s not my favorite opening in the world, erring on the side of sweet, but the drydown is lustrous warm and inviting.

I really wanted to love this fragrance, I even bought it without any discount and thought it would be a happy relationship… But it wasn’t. As much as I like it on paper, I had to give my bottle away to a friend.
The sandalwood, which in general I adore, got very strange on me, giving me a feeling of a… scratchy wool sweater. I literally felt like my skin was getting red and irritated with a rash (and it wasn’t, it was just my imagination). Then I would get a lot of pepper, but also unpleasant – once I even went to the kitchen and stuck my nose into a bag of pepper to sniff and compare! The pepper in Sensuous had an old, dirty, stuffy feeling to it, which is not the case in the kitchen. 🙂
Still looking for my perfect, womanly, creamy, sexy sandalwood for everyday use. Sorry, Estee. It’s not you.

A warm honey on your skin. Seductive and true to it’s name a very sensuous fragrance. It’s more aromatic in the winter months. I love the white flowers in this perfume: magnolia is my favorite flower, jasmine and lily. The floral scents serve as the sweet opening that would have been otherwise provided by fruits. No fruits in this fragrance! I love when that happens! This is mainly a floral woodsy fragrance. The woods are soft and not dark. Sandalwood, amber and honey keep it together in a skin scent of warmth, sexiness, elegance, and feminine beauty. I can’t smell this on a guy. This is also a very mature fragrance so I would say this is for women who are still in the game and dating in their 30’s. I love the Estee Lauder fragrances. I recommend this scent for women who want to enhance their beauty with perfume.

Sensuous is a skin scent in the sense that it has a skin like fragrance to it, not in the sense that it does not project far. In fact, Sensous was noticeable to anyone talking to me when I wore it.
Sandalwood is paired with honey and black pepper. There are vague powdery floral top notes. The quality of scent is a bit synthetic and unnatural.I would say “perfume-y” but that it feels silly to say that but I know some poeple would know exactly what I mean. However, I do like it. A sexy warm fragrance that is versatile for both day and night. It gives the impression of dried down perfume on warm skin which I find suggestive: sexy and intimate. Has a lasting power around 4-6 hours.

I absolutely ADORE this – the light, sweet honey, sandalwood, the woods & amber ALL of it!
I know that pepper is listed but it’s way down in the ingredients and I can barely detect it. Really wish it would pack a bigger punch than just lingering delicately in the background.
At first spritz this is perfect and I wish the light woodsy notes would stick around a little longer. However, this turns into a skin scent quickly with that beautiful jasmine/orange drydown. I also get, and this is hard to describe, a distant lipstick scent from this perfume.
I wish my skin would just naturally smell like this all autumn long lol!
I like my winter scents to be strong and this is far from it so don’t take my word for it – this could be absolutely perfect for the typical lady who wants a gorgeous peppery wood mixed expertly with sandalwood. It’s just perfect for autumn nights, maybe even a frosty winter evening, out on a date or even to the office.
As a sidenote since this is so light yet long-lasting that it works quite well with layering. Kenzo Elephant smells divine as well as Adam Levine for Women, which bears a striking resemblance although the Levine has a big “vinegar” note that smells cheaper than this lush concoction. Have fun and experiment! 🙂

I have the EdP, code AC8. At first it is creamy and almost gourmand, with an orange tint. After an hour or more I get sandalwood, and it’s not the “low quality” stuff either! The florals act to soften things up but are not obvious individually. And the amber isn’t syrupy or supers-sweet. I am comfortable wearing it but I think men will be divided as to whether it is unisex or not (I usually use one spray). Overall, I’d classify this as a “higher end” designer scent, though if you alrea
