Description

Sensual Jil is a new fragrance by Jil Sander and it can be expected on the market in November 2010.

This mysterious, seductive and sensual fragrance hides its mystery behind dark blue glass. Its composition expands fragrant views of modern Jil, enhanced with precious and rich aromas describing cheerful and sensual femininity.

Sensual Jil opens with juicy blackberry which offers seductive fruity overture to orange blossom in a heart of this composition. Seductive base creates a union of vanilla and patchouli, with hypnotic seductive and sensual effect.

The new fragrance by Jil Sander was created by famous perfumer Olivier Polge of IFF.

The flacon has the same shape as Jil, with accentuated simplicity and sophistication. Shiny glass frame surrounds and creates contrast to dark blue interior of the flacon, while creating a mysterious game of night and glitter. Logo of the house and name of the fragrance are inscribed in pink on smooth glass. The fragrance can be purchased as 30 and 50ml EDT.

Advertising face in the campaign for this fragrance is – Julia Restoin Roitfeld. Aim of the campaign is to present an ultra feminine and sensual woman who is moderate and natural.

I got this for one reason, and one reason only:
I was hoping, wishing that it would be similar to the origional Jil sander edp with the pink liquid. Its close actually; but its like its missing that special..something! that gives it character.
Its like they took the origional and
removed the pink pepper and citrus notes and replaced it with blackberry and orange blossom, its missing the creamy zesty citrus and the spicyness of the pepper but once it dries down its almost identical to origional, its still powdery, but in a vintage makeup powder way, not a fresh talc way with a sweeter vanilla note.
Jil Sander for her edp will always be my all time favorite fragrance, but until i can afford a bottle off ebay this will make for the next best thing.
Body chemistry must play a big part in how it dries down, as people have said its similar to the pink one, then others have said it bares absolutely no resemblance.
They could’ve named this Jil Sander for her Intense or Noir or something, instead of marketing it as a completely different fragrance.

In the beginning it does smell a bit “sensual” and dark, but then turns into a sickly sweet floral vanilla oriental fragrance. Sillage is very good but it’s just too sweet and powdery for me.

I agree with the other reviews that there is nothing sensual about Sensual Jil. The name, package design and bottle are very cool and I was hoping this would be a spicy, bold, knock your socks off fragrance, but it’s actually quite the opposite. Sensual is a very timid, light, slightly sweet, powdery scent that’s along the same lines as the original Oscar and L’air du Temps.
There is also an unfortunate synthetic note to it.
This is a disappointment as Jil Sander No. 4 and Feeling Man were powerhouse scents that defined the 90’s. Sensual Jil is a weak and, frankly, kind of boring fragrance that is not the Jil Sander I’ve come to know and love. Too bad. Maybe sometime in the future she will return to make a bold statement with a fragrance, but her time is def not now. Thumbs down.

Fruity top note but softens into the original Jil (pink juice) in about 20 mins. This is not a dark berry kind of fruit but more of the juice almost sparkly kind. Day use, in my opinion…and yes, can be unisex while the original Jil is very feminine.

Tested it today and was somewhat dissapointed. I had high hopes for this one being my new evening/night fragrance but its not really dark enough or even outstanding enough for me to take that place.
Sensual Jil on me opens with a strong alcohol note that is around for about half an hour. After that I can detect some fruits and some woody notes – patchouli I guess.
Three hours after spraying it on it sits really close to my skin and has a nice musky/patchouli smell.
So – I like it but I do not love it and think that Jil Sander has made greater perfumes than this one. Just my opinion of course 🙂

Apart from a name that sounds like the title of a porno movie(lol),this perfume was a successful blind buy,it’s a light musky scent which doesn’t hang around too long, however the bottle is beautiful, simple and minimalist like Jil Sanders clothes!

This Jill Sandler perfume is just as lovely as her origninal Jil perfume (in the lighter pink bottle). This flanker is a bit stronger and sexier (probably better for night time) – but still very nice. I do prefer the original Jil (pink juice) however as it is so soft and powdery and I can wear it anytime, anywhere….. and I always get nice compliments.
I’m glad that I have both fragrances in my collection to match whichever mood I am in.
I was lucky enough to stock up on Jil fragrance before it was discontinued in Australia – (as I use this perfume quite often in my rotation and my daughter also loves it) – it was going out for less than half price. Missk is correct in saying that if you blinked it was gone from the shelves. It wasn’t marketed very well and was only available for one year.

This is anything but nasty…just got mine today, after reading the love/hate/kinda like reviews, and if truth be told it is the best dark summer scent I have ever tried, yep, this may be a first ladies and gents…A DARK SUMMER SCENT!!!!! If you love heavy perfumes albeit fell in love with JS Stylessence, then you will NOT be disappointed ~ I think it smells like a lighter and tad bit sweeter version of JS’s Stylessence!!!! I will, however, admit that this is not signature material, at least not for me, BUT it’s an amazing seasonal scent that will make you stand out for sure! This is also a mature scent with a candy girlish twist to it that makes it fun whilst stil being elegant and serious, if that makes sense! This is definitely for a woman who thinks outside the box and looks the part! I could not imagine a “barbie-like” creature pulling this one off…yes, scents DO and CAN paint a picture of who you are, and the wrong scent can take away from a person’s personality just like the right one can add that special sth to it…well, that IS a subjctive point of view but after all that’s what most reviews are…and after the past few mins of wearing this, I have to add that the dry down is somewhat powdery and “old lady-ish”…as I said, it’s the PERFECT dark summer scent! 🙂

Well this is just plain nasty. I have experienced a real shock today, especially after being used to the creaminess of Style and Tender Green Pastels. This is anything but sensuous, trust me! The scent begins with a powerful razor-sharp burst of alcohol and chemicals with a synthetic raspberry from space on steroids on top. Then, if you survive the blast and don’t run off to scrub it off ( I was at a store and to my misfortune already running in late, so I couldn’t ) – the worst men’s aftershave comes into the spotlight, and it’s there to stay. For EVER. I was just flabbergasted, perplexed, heart-broken: I was in love with the bottle at first sight!!! – the sleek shape, the amazing combination of deep velvety-blue and coral, the opaque glass play!!!! – and then… I have no idea, how this even came into being. If you suffer from sinusitis, congested nose or dull sense of smell and are looking for a shock therapy – give this one a go: if this doesn’t work, I don’t know what will.

Jil Sander’s Sensual Jil was discontinued in Australian department stores before I even had time to blink. For months I had lamented over not having tested it when I had the chance. Thankfully, I was lucky enough to stumble upon Sensual Jil in a discount store, (Cosmetics Fragrance Direct to be exact), which I assume is the only store that still has some left-over Jil Sander stock.
I do like this perfume, however I must admit that I prefer its predecessor, Jil by Jil Sander. This flanker is more on the fruity side of things, and is less powdery.
Sensual Jil opens with rich, juicy blackberries. The fruity top notes fade quickly into a smooth and powdery orange blossom heart. I find this blend to be more mysterious than sensual. It’s also quite a subtle fragrance.
The patchouli and vanilla in the base, smell fantastic together. It smells dusty, earthy and a tad sweet. There’s no denying that Jil Sander has a knack for creating beautiful, quality scents. I just wish that Australia wasn’t discontinuing the brand. Soon the only place to find this fragrance will be online.
Sensual Jil has a fairly light projection, however the longevity is good. I would more than likely recommend this fragrance for wear during Winter and Autumn. I must also add that I love the chic, black bottle design.

Just have vented about my warm feelings for Eve by Jil Sander and bought Sensual Jil right away. :)) For me it is a daily version of Delicious night by DKNY. I guess if Sensual Jil were more widespread it would have received the same love/hate ratio as the violet apple. If you like the style but want to play safer and have it smoother, go to Magical moon by HM. As for Sensual Jil which is actually not too smooth – there is a funky moment like in Provocative woman by EA – and intriguing spicy undercurrent and a bit languishing look. All retains a German sense of proportion though and Jil Sander’s style in general, no matter how funky its detail is, the general look still ennobles you. I have read on Russian Fragrantica and here that people consider its base to be a bit on the masculine side, and I really enjoy this type of feminity, and I find it rather sexy. And yes, I repeat what I once said for Delicious Night – Sensual Jil IS sensual, mysterious, modern. Very glad I got it. And no reference to original Jil at all, those who state that must have not tried it on the skin. And it does evolve, don’t judge it by the top notes – it’s more unusual than that. And surely its color is right.
Oh, I can’t stop pouring it on myself, losing all my sense of propotion. The previous time I experienced the same thing was with Angel Peony years ago. D

This perfume opens with lots of patchouli and blackberrys. The original Jil vibe is noticable on the background but I find this scent more powdery. The orangeflower and vanilla makes it sweet, but not to much. The drydown is lovely, a soft patchouli vanilla with wiffs of blackberry. I like it. I agree that it is more a floral oriental then a floral fruity scent.
The drydown reminds me a bit of Chantal Thomass

The regular Jil was really nothing special to me and similar to Armani Code. Sensual version, on the other hand, is unique and sophisticated. It’s dark, weird and strong, but not vanilla sweet. To me Sensual is a scent of cherry stones surrounded by patchouli and a great amount of spices. The fragrance has something masculine or animal inside and it is quite close to mens Azzaro Pour Homme Elixir. Great!

It’s very similar to the previous Jil, but stronger and spicier, sort of incense-like and still very powdery.

Sorry, but I found this one rather bad. Maybe it’s the patchouli, but there was something in it that I found very stinky.

I totally forgot what notes this one had when I saw it on the shelf in a perfumery today. It seems I connected it to Stylessence.
I really enjoyed the top notes, I thought I smelled some thick citruseness – guessed ‘petit-grain’, I associated it somehow with top notes of Stylessence. There was also something spicy in the begginig … And a bit earthy, warm, patchouli undertone.
    Very promising, I must say.
Charming, sexy, modern. Not obvious. Different!
But then, in middle notes, Sensual Jil showed a floral accord which I disliked … Something like a combo of violet and heliotrope. From this point I didn’t enjoy the scent at all.
Dried down like that, didn’t change from that time.
=Another good creation from Jil Sander.
Not for me, but definitely worth trying!
Especially for lovers of violet (colour) flowers 🙂

Another take on a new version of “Jil” – this one is spicier and has more staying power than the previous version. Head notes feature orange blossom, iris and heliotrope, and the base is said to contain patchouli, which might exlain the fresh, earthy notes I got on my skin after a few hours. I don’t think this is too voluptous or flowery, it is still a Jil Sander – and recognizably cool and detached. I’d wear this anywhere and anytime, it is pleasant, not over-powering, has a modern vibe to it and is a quality perfume. Highly recommended. Makes a wonderful “all-rounder”.
