Description

Scandal By Night comes out in August 2018. This edition will be the first flanker of the new perfume from designer Jean Paul Gaultier, the gourmand chypre scent based on the note of honey named Scandal from 2017. While Scandal was announced as a free-spirited fragrance, the new edition is described as ultimately unbridled and unchaining.

The campaign continues to tell the story of Madame La Ministre; a high-ranking official by day, and a bustling party woman visiting the Pigalle district in Paris when the night falls. Her fragrance is potent, sweet and opulent.

Top notes: citrus, honey
Heart: tuberose, nard
Base: patchouli, tonka, sandalwood

Scandal By Night is available as a 30, 50 and 80 ml Eau de Parfum.

Relatively sweet-smelling generic current designer fragrance. Honey and tonka are the most immediately prominent notes. The honey generates a kind of subdued sweetness which is unlike a lot of other screeching commercial sugars. Very accessible fragrance you’d be almost guaranteed to like if you happen to enjoy tonka.

scandal by night and boucheron quatre a la nuit smell a lot like black opium TO ME.. i like black opium a lot so therefore i like both scandal and boucheron but there is no need to have more than 1 of these 3.

Creamy tuberose dipped in animalic honey sprinkled with caramelized patchouli and roasted tonka. The honey note is very potent and a little dirty so you have to be a fan of it. It’s dense, sweet, borderline trashy (in a good way, it’s kind of fun) but polished somehow. It stands out from the rest of the gourmand patchouli frags out there. I like this one more than the original which has too pronounced cedar note that botheres me. I’m even tempted to get a small bottle of Scandal by Night.

Received a sample of this today and when I smell up close, it really reminds me of the original scandal edp, but I thought I smelled tuberose around me, which must be coming from this, very interesting. It is also really sweet and seems to have good performance. Nice one!

I am shocked, just shocked of how closely Scandal By Night reminds me of Robert Piguet “Fracas”!!! And to my interesting surprise, Scandal By Night is not that much similar to Scandal itself (I enjoy Scandal by the way)!!! I love Madonna Truth Or Dare…and admire Fracas, but can never quite enjoy it, as in the back of my mind, Fracas sometimes is overwhelming and too much for my liking. It wore me out, depended on the mood. However, Scandal By Night is a more wearable, lighter and less intense version of Fracas, if I may say.
SBN is not about the honey or anything else in it. It is all about the honeyed TUBEROSE!!! Tonka bean, wood and patchouli are softly in the back, quietly supporting the honeyed white floral queen. NO citrus. The opening of SBN is spot on Fracas’s daughter. But its dry down in the end is just very slightly similar to Scandal. I found Scandal is more “citrusy”, “honey” and more “casual”, compared to SBN. NOW, comparing both of them side by side, I can smell the grapefruit from Scandal.
At least on my skin, SBN absolutely does NOT have anything to do with Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Nectar at all, unlike someone said.
If you enjoy Fracas, you WILL like this! If not, don’t waste your time and money because SBN will be headache inducing, overwhelming and overly sweet for you. It is such a powerhouse with strong sillage and long lasting longevity. I will only wear SBN on the coldest days of the year and also depends on my mood. The bottle is heavy and very well made, feels just like a good size of a paperweight. SBN overall is NOT a fragrance for anyone, especially little girls. Period.

I got a sample of this perfume today and I think it smells just like Reb’l Fleur of Rihanna,
and neither of them are my cup of tea 🙁

Wow!!! This really packs a punch – sillage enormous! If you want to make an impact a LITTLE of this goes a long long way. The honey is strong at first, almost like a Tobelerone, but in saying that it’s not too sweet either. It’s very much an autumn winter fragrance, and if you like la vie est belle you’ll probably like this too 🙂

This gem really need a space around it to make the magic happen. When you put it to small area its all about honey (too much I think), but if you spritz it in the air and walk in to the sweet smelling cloud you can really see how beauty this is. Then there is enough space and all the colors of this fragrance could be exist. Enjoy ❤️

Such a lovely, comforting and warm scent. It starts with a bomb of very sweet vanilla and then in a while the tonka bean and patchoulli come to the surface. After about an hour a warm and sweet vanilla is the scent that stays. Silage is okay, not great, but good. I do smell it on myself, but others have to stand close in order to smell it on me. Staying power is great, i can still smell it on my clothes the next day:) I think the most difference with the original version is the patchoulli which i find more overwhelming in the original. I detect a similarity with the Black Opium, but i think Scandal is more fresh, less fruity. It also reminds me of coconut passion from Victoria’s secret a lot, probably because of the vanilla. I love it, and would definately buy it again!!!

Smells like honey, patchouli and tonka bean to me. Very strong and sweet, cloying actually. Can’t stand the honey and tuberose mix, these don’t go well together at least in this one.
    A big no-no for me.

Wonderful Autumn scent! Smells like chocolate pralines, toasted marshmallow drizzled with honey and a slight touch of patchouli..all in all perfect combination either curling up and reading a novel,or a walk on a slightly cooler fall evening! Now all I need is a candle from BBW and I’m good to go..
Sillage ist AMAAAAAAAZING! And been going strong now for 5 hours…

This smells more modern than the original, it is also less floral and more discreet. A bit more gourmand too. I like this one better than the other, but the original has more personality.

Smells amazing! Just like the original version, but more warmer and creamier, because of the white flowers and tonka bean. If you enjoyed Scandal, you will love this one as well. Perfect for the upcoming seasons.

Well, this is definitely not a summer scent /maybe somewhere in a parallel universe – but just possibly, maybe/. I would describe its quality & density as condensed milk enriched with narcotic tuberose & medicinal patchouli – it´s thick, rich, creamy, honey-sweet & it screams loudly that resistance is futile, you will be assimilated. This version suits me more than the original Scandal & I´m going to test it again in autumn/winter.
    /Vanlilith´s review is really precise./

Already out as a preview @Sephora in Italy, it’s not a summer scent, too sweet and cloying, it’s a super-gourmand that can cause headeche :/
Tested Saturday (quite an hot day 32°C) the tuberose is sooooo sweet that first impression is a strawberries’ bubblegum scent, like Mukhallat by Montale, Makkah by Al Haramain or Bubblegum Chic by Heeley, all is deepened in a lot of dense honey. After 30 minutes the tuberose calm down, the patchouli comes out strong with just a hint of sweet tonka but still the honey envelops everything.
There is nothing nocturnal, is really the original Scandal condensed / intense with tuberose instead of the creamy gardenia and no fresh orange juice. The lasting power is equivalent to the original, but the sillage is even more powerful.
IMHO it’s really too sweet and powerful for this hot weather (why did they release it NOW?!?! Preview of a winter scent in the hot Italian summer?!?!?) I’ll re-test it on autumn / winter with cold weather.
