Description

Fragrance Du Bois is a niche luxury perfume house born from the richest essences of nature, crafted by fifth generation perfumers from the 17th century French traditions of Grasse. All Du Bois fragrances are created using 100% pure, organic Oud oil and other sustainably-sourced ingredients.

From Fragrance Du Bois: “A moment of perfect stillness broken by unpredictable shifts of racing wind across the vast sandy landscape, Sahraa Oud captures the untamed wildness of the Arabian Desert. The first scent in Fragrance Du Bois’ premium Prive collection, Sahraa Oud featuring Rose Absolute and Oud, two exceptional highly prized ingredients, was crafted for the refined sophistication of perfume connoisseurs.”

Sahraa Oud features notes of rose, geranium, jasmine, moss, patchouli, sandalwood, saffron, vanilla, amber and a high percentage of 100% pure, natural oud, packaged in an exquisite, elegant crystal bottle. Sahraa Oud is limited edition and only 500 bottles will be distributed worldwide.

Sahraa Oud was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Francois Merle-Baudoin.

It strongly reminds me of blood smell ❤️ ..and that’s not something bad!

It shares the same spicy-woody oud note and saffron as MFK Oud Extrait, however, the added rose, amber, and vanilla gives it extra complexity and the drydown (arguably the best part) is very different to Oud Extrait. Longevity is phenomenal (even though it is only an EDP), lasted three days on my jumper and still projecting nicely. It’s a really nice fragrance but nothing mind-blowing.
For the price, I can easily think of a number of fragrances from MFK, Areej le Dore, or Roja Dove that I would rather buy than this. If you have the money though, then it is a good addition to add to your collection and definitely worth trying. It’s worth buying for the gorgeous drydown.
I like the ethical side that they plant an agarwood tree for every bottle sold, more companies need to be doing this.

Smells like a combo of tauer lddm and amouage jubilation on my skin. Didn’t like it as all I could basically smell was this fennel note.

top and middle…smells similar with MFK Oud…with more pronounced sillage and projection. Very nice!!! But since living in tropical country, i can’t wear it all the time, only if I’m staying at an air conditioned room or colder places. Loveeee

I’m still blown away by sahraa oud, the fact I found it on luckyscent as a new intense?, now i got a rush, I must try,!
Sahraa oud is sweet amber, with the most golden delicate oud, with a strange luminous facet, hovering over golden sand, so relaxing.

A woody chypre with very high quality ingredients, Sahraa Oud is a very atypical Oriental perfume. The perfume begins in a typical chypre way with notes of grapefruit, it moves to a dense floral heart comprised of rose, geranium, patchouli and jasmine before settling into a mossy powdery base comprising of oud, moss, amber, vanilla, saffron, and pepper. Sahraa Oud is actually a bit of a misnomer because at its heart, it is a solid chypre, not a woody spicy Oriental Oud. Thus if you think that this is going to transport you to the Saharan Morocco you are somewhat mistaken. Instead you are probably transported to a sophisticated restaurant or social lounge in Tokyo or Singapore. Unisex with strong sillage, projection and longevity. Potent, evocative, classy and somewhat subdued (by Oriental standards) east meets west creation that will appeal to many lovers of Orientals with western sensibilities. This is very high quality sophistry but not for purists. Enjoy!

I love it. No one else I know does. The price is crazy but comes in a really nice box. Looks like something Dracula would own. Super luxurious, unless you go to weddings or really upscale events pass. Does not go with casual wear at all. Could picture John Wick wearing this.

Better than any Roja I own or have tested and worth every penny. Masterfully blended. I wish the 100ml bottle was available in the US. This may be my favorite Oud, possibly my favorite fragrance ever.

I finally bought this fragrance after spending months on testing.
Let me first say that all FdB fragrances are available in 15 ml format that makes them accessible for everyone (125€). I also appreciate that they won’t make you pay 15ml a fortune, so that you won’t ever opt buying (50 ml @ 395€ and 100ml @ 695€).
The 15 ml format is, thus, proportioned.
In addition please bear in mind that you’ll need just a couple of sprays and you’ll be okay for the rest of your day.
A few words on the scent: opens citrusy-spicy with Oud, medicinal and potent.
It turns into a spicy Amber floral beauty that accompanies you all day. It is elegant, rich, deep and so damn good.
    A masterpiece!

This is arguably their best offering, but at the price (and style) you’re competing with Krigler…spend a little more you can even get Roja—I suppose if you spend thousands of dollars on clothes already adding another bottle won’t hurt, but this just too sheer and too safe, so DON’T SPEND IT HERE unless you’ve tried them all!

Hmmmm… Could be a gourmand blend! yet spicy and syrup ambery!
I didn’t like it at first spray cause it was new to my nose! but later a bit (10 seconds in) i realized that it’s a sweet yet spicy amber. Grand sweet oud spicy amber.
It has vanilla, amber, big doses of cardamom, crystal clear saffron, oud, patchouli, sandalwood, and rose. Later i can detect sweet peppers, and syrup.
This is an interesting gourmand yet oudy blend, i kind of think it’s sort of cloying but not sure as i didn’t dislike it yet! it’s in between the enjoyment and the fear of it might take a wrong turn heading to an overly sweet direction as a calm down (base note). It is a sweet spicy amber blend, and it’s quite interesting although i didn’t pay any attention to it when i sniffed it in Jovoy boutique! i wonder why!
10 mins in – it now became syrup saffrons, young red roses, soft vanilla oud, cardamom, and amber

It has that blood note..there..somewhere.. that I actually adore!

This feels like an amber focused fragrance with soft florals and perhaps some balsamic or incense elements with a round oud in the base. The oud is soft like in the other fragrances of the line, no offensive oud here. Unisex.

If you enjoy Amber Aoud by Roja Dove, I would highly encourage you to try this one out. In many ways I find this to be a sibling to Amber Aoud, and in some ways even better due to the drydown having a bit more ‘oomph’ than AA does.
Incredibly well-blended, smooth and no harsh edges, this is an oud for the highly elegant. (Also has far more amber elements than AA does)

This is an intoxicating, warm, opulent, seductive, slightly smokey authentic oud. There is a touch of tart or bitter citrus throughout the top and mid but this gives way to a super pleasant saffron heavy base. Use caution, do not over apply it because projection and longevity is superb. I tend to be an oversprayer and I consistently oversprayed this fragrance and time after time, I ended up with a migraine. Less is more with Sahraa Oud. Fragrance du Bois will appeal to the experienced nose who is familiar with real oud and one who can appreciate luxurious fragrances. This scent will appeal to the true oud connoisseur (unlike the clearly inexperienced reviewer who claims Sahraa Oud smells like a funeral home and embalming fluid) This couldn’t be farther from the truth. I tried to remain objective however that review is so way off (lol)…Side note, I have actually smelled embalming fluid and there is absolutely nothing I know of which is even close in comparison to that scent. Please, Please test this fragrance yourself before making up your mind.

Magnificent sweet amber and aged high quality aromatic oud. This scents shines. It glows. Blended to perfection with so much delicacy. This is the safest parisian oud that I have come across. Even Roja would buy and wear this. Sheer beauty. 10/10. It is damn expensive for a scent but I will save for it. This is luxury. And I need it for my soul. Not for compliments. Very potent.

“An opulent and eye-catching amber stone gleaming under the sunlight in the Middle-Eastern desert.”
Sahraa Oud is one of three fragrances under the Privé collection of Fragrance Du Bois (FdB), a French luxury fragrance house that established its first boutique store in Singapore. It prides itself for using organic agarwood (oud) oils in the creation of its perfumes and sourcing them from sustainable plantations that give back to the community out of corporate social responsibility.
Sahraa Oud, along with the rest of FdB’s collection, has a distinctive scent to them, which I suspect is the note of oud that FdB claims to specially source from Thailand. The oud is unlike the one I’m used to, one that smells smoky, decayed and thus exquisite. It’s lighter and more pleasant, which may appeal to more people than the common high-quality oud note which is more of an acquired scent. It also has a very sweet citrus, orange-like scent in the top and heart phase, which I suspect is the combination of grapefruit and amber.
Perfomance-wise, it lasts very long. One full spray can last slightly longer than 12 hours and the sillage trail goes a long way. In terms of use, this is best used for nighttime for classy events. It’s an apt fragrance for the sophisticated man in his forties, one who enjoys a glass of whisky on the rocks by the fireplace. Think Sean Connery in his most comfortable setting.
I like the scent but I personally won’t buy a full bottle of it. Encased in a ostentatiously fancy crystal flacon, it looks and feels (and also costs) like a Roja Dove fragrance. I have a personal threshold when it comes to purchasing a full bottle of perfume, and if there is one that breaks it, then it has to be a truly exceptional fragrance. Some Roja Dove fragrances are truly exceptional but even so, it’s hard not to consider that the prices are astronomical. The same applies for Sahraa Oud and FdB as a whole; they are very good but I can only consider buying if their prices are more acceptable.
FdB is a house meant for fragrance collectors and generally those with very deep pockets. I appreciate their fragrances and is interested to see what perfumer François Merle-Baudoin can think up of for his future creations.
