Description

Cult Greek brand of Korres presents three fragrances for various moods. Their names are composed of names of ingredients which dominate the scents, and they arrive in the same glass flacons inspired by old pharmacy bottles. Minimalism and simplicity reflect on the form and colour. Unconventional design expresses bold, modern, elegant and utterly simple approach to creation of these three compositions.

Fragrant octaves change, ranging from fruit to spices, from woody accords to herbs. Rosewood, cyclamen, cardamom, jasmine, pepper, saffron and passion fruit are complimentary with aromatic compositions, balancing luxury and simplicity, classicism and modern style.

Saffron Amber Agarwood Cardamom is the second fragrance from the collection. The oriental-woody masculine fragrance opens with cardamom, bergamot and cinnamon. Saffron, cedar, carnation and sandalwood are placed in a heart, while a base encompasses amber, agar and vanilla. The combination of spices creates a twist towards a masculine and intensive-passionate concept of essences. The fragrance is available as 100 ml EDT and colour of its fluid is sunny amber nuance.
Saffron Amber Agarwood Cardamom was launched in 2009.

I bought this as an alternate to Armani’s Cuir Noir. It is indeed pretty similar. I gave it a good spray the first time, and sillage was pretty decent. I could easily smell it at arm’s length. Unfortunately there was something a bit fumey at that concentration that was slightly headachey. Longevity was good though – I could still easily smell it after washing it off! It’s better today, sprayed lighter, but sillage has decreased. I’m female and I find it easily unisex.

Zero oud (but there was no mention of that on the bottle anyway), and not butch at all imo – just caressing, warm, very gentle ambery wood with the softest possible spicing. Even the often-hyperactive cardamom is held in balance; the saffron is surprisingly strong and forward, which is unusual and lovely. Organic texture and fine control mean that the amber is headache-free and despite the overall sweetness it doesn’t cloy. Somehow a teeny tiny bit unremarkable – for me it slightly lacks depth and complexity, it would have been AWESOME with a darker undertone of smoke or spice layered in as well – but deeply, deeply comforting.
Low sillage but reasonable longevity, it held out 5-6h on my usually scent-killing skin. Goes through a slightly awkwardly soapy stage but it’s always worth a whiff of.
Sort of like a golden labrador in scent terms – obviously I don’t mean it actually smells of dog! – rather that this one is so totally goodnatured and calm and friendly that you just want to give it a hug and spend time with it.

This smells more masculine and woody to me in summer, more feminine and sweet/ cardamom-y to me in winter. I’d say it’s definitely gender neutral. I love how well-balanced this fragrance is, for me it is soft and clean enough for work, spicy and woody enough for a night out.
Personally I prefer if people only notice my perfume when they are close to me, and I definitely receive compliments after I hug someone with this on. Longevity is great– sometimes I still smell a little bit on my flannel shirts even after they have gone through the wash.

Great scent! I’ve sprayed it onto paper a few times before but this is the first time I’ve put it onto my skin. It smells so good. Projection and sillage are not much, but the scent itself is fantastic.
Yes the bottle is inexpensive, but it is only a 50ml bottle. So in terms of cost per ml it is about the same as a lot of designer scents, although cheaper than most niche fragrances. I don’t know if Korres still offer this in a 100ml bottle, because I could only find it in 50ml bottles.
My bottle is called Saffron Amber Cardamom. Somehow the Agarwood got lost – either from the title or from the contents, I don’t know which.
Warm, dark, mysterious, without being sweet.

I absolutely love this scent… super well balanced. It is true that it turns quiet quickly however the fragrance stays on skin and clothes for a long time, it just stops projecting relatively soon. I get slightly better performance when using this on oily or moisturized skin.

My husband wears it and I think I m gonna try it ,too!! IAlthough the accords could make it strong , the perfume is not too loud. So Without being offensive ,it iS sexy and mysterious . It reminds me of Burberry London! Nice try from Korre , Greece.

Lovely, spicy light scent with a very pleasant opening and dry down. Unfortunately, the scent is so light that I had to put my nose right down on my skin to smell it, and it only lasts a short while. Too bad, because this is a fragrance that would appeal to a wide range of tastes if it weren’t so watered down. It really has a beautiful accord, so much so that I put it all over my skin and clothes to enjoy the barely there smell.
2/9 – This really is gorgeous. I love it, but low volume and no staying power. What a shame. But, so good I am trying to think of a way to amp it up. Maybe in the summer heat, all over my clothes, hair and skin.

I was adding my notes after testing this. Chicago Tony T said almost everything I wrote before I checked the reviews to see if I was just whacked. Absolutely no oud whatsoever. Wow.

It smells amazing – really warm and cuddly. Nice balance. But the longevity? Lasted just 2-3 hours..so sad on a great scent

A wonderful scent with no power. Too bad because with basenotes of amber and vanilla you would expect at least 4 hours from it. The opening is as light as the drydown. No oud and very light spices and wood. Simply for this reason I dislike it.

Absolutely beautiful fragrance that is nicely balanced between woods and aromatics. Shares some certain quality with Light Blue, actually, but is much less eye-buzzingly bright. The cardamom is a gorgeous note here and this is great for the right woman, and would be completely fetching on a man. I wish it lasted longer, but at this price point, this is still a great value even if you have to re-apply later.

I also got it as amber cardamom saffron. Is it the same?

Absolutely masculine, mysterious and tempting, yet not offensively projecting, it has gained me only positive comments from both men and women. A must have at an affordable price!

Affordable version of M7, nice Oudy scent. Love it!

This doesn’t last on my skin terribly well, but it is lovely while it is there. The oud is prominent, but I would say it is one of the softer, more wearable oud notes I have smelled in a fragrance. I can detect the dryness of the cedar, as well as the smoothed-over spice of cardamom lingering in the background. It’s a dusty fragrance that has a scent reminiscent of suede leather. It’s subtly smoky, and overall quite warm and intimate. I agree that this seems easily marketable as a unisex fragrance. I’ve sampled so many amazing amber fragrances lately that this won’t be going on my must-buy list for now, but it’s definitely something I would recommend trying if you’re into unisex woodsy-amber scents.

is this infact the same as the amber cardamom saffron?

well, i expected something else… this scent is really warm and spicy and powdery, but there is a strong leather-ish component which is very dominant (at least on my skin) which i don´t like so much. all in all a very decent only winter type of scent for the adult gentleman

I am interested, but heard it is not available yet in the U.S. Does anyone know anything different? Please let me know if you do…… I’ll go and get it.

Earthy, warm and spicy. Not bad at all. Staying power quite good, at least on my skin aprox 8 hrs. First impresion was, that I found twin of Joop! Le bain, but as I couldn’t compare those two hand to hand, can’t trust myself 100%:) Maybe could say, that Korres is more spicy and Le bain more edible, as I mostly smell extrait of almonds in it;)
