Definitely worth having if you live in a warm climate. Sillage and longevity are incredible for a scent in this genre. To me it smells very clean and fresh. A hidden gem and can be had for $20. Well worth it!

So far I’m not too impressed, but will keep wearing. I’m getting a slightly mature and spicy watermelon scent wrapped in a sea salt accord. Unfortunately for me, it seems a little flat and one dimensionaI. I feel Rekiel Man is better suited for Summer wear as opposed to the Spring suggestions that most here are leaning towards.
I seem to not be feeling much projection and sillage either. Even so, I’m not giving up on this fragrance just yet. I’ll keep you guys posted. Hopefully things will change soon with more wear. In the meantime, I think I’ll exercise my right to pull the Summer column on the season graph down further to where it should be.
Update: 7/31/15
Rekiel Man seems to be gaining more traction with me the more I wear it. In hindsight, after spending more time off and on with It, I’ve come to realization that there is a defining character with this fragrance outside anything else that I own. Not ground breaking by any means, but definitely a step above the norm in the summer catagory.
This one is a prime example of how some scents don’t like to reveal themselves until later on down the road. Don’t give up on Rekiel Man if you’re not happy with it. I think you’ll be pleasently surprised with it in due time. I’m sure it will only move up my favoites list in the coming years.

The sticker on the tester I bought lists this as an Oriental – Woody – Fougere. Top notes: Lemon, Green Mandarin, Neroli and Sea Accord. Mid notes: Rosemary, Nutmeg, Saffron, Latex/Black Truffle. Base notes: Sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla and musk. I purchased this blind based on the interesting notes and reviews here. I have to say I’m sorely disappointed… It is an intense chemical aquatic, mired in a strange and pervasive syrupy aromatic sweetness throughout. Despite the top notes and “sea accord,” I would not characterize this as a citrus. Sillage and longevity are quite good, but to me it smells incredibly cheap. I think the “Latex/Black Truffle” accord is what kills this one for me. BLECH!
If you like popular “chemical aquatics” like Azzaro Chrome or esp sweet aromatics like GPG Le Male, you may like this. This is definitely a strange brew…

Intensly green, citrus aromatic. Rykiel Man is quite sharp at first, then mellows down into a soapy musk with a hint of “fuzzy” sweetness and a softer barbershop feel. Like knightz mentioned, there is an appealing bitter-sweet anise running throughout. Overall, reminds me a bit of Gucci Nobile, but a bit warmer. Strong to moderate projection, longevity is quite good.

This is special! A green, soapy, fresh, clean smelling masculine scent. Opens fresh and green and just a bit synthetic but still pleasant. The colour of the juice suits the smell I think. Just after the opening you get a fresh marine note in there that is lovely. Longevity and sillage are good. In the drydown the cardamom and sandalwood comes through a little but still stays fresh, the sea breeze note (maybe aldehydes) stays there making this a really fresh scent. The sillage is gorgeous. I think, overall, it’s unique and it’s a lovely men’s fragrance.

The opening reminds me of a something strange. Latex with citrus aura.
Soapy and light if that can describe it, a very distinct fragrance that i will grow to love!

These are the notes that Sonia Rykiel .com says are in Rykiel Man:
Top: Citrus, Neroli, Green Tangerine, Sea Breeze
Heart: Rosemary, Nutmeg, Toscanol, Saffron
Base: Patchouli, Moss, Vanilla, Musk
Rykiel Man opens with a very rich Citrus and light Green accord, with Neroli backing it. Almost immediately the heart joins the lush opening with the spices Rosemary, Nutmeg, and Saffron. I can believe that the Toscanol is doing it’s job here, as all the notes and accords it adds or enhances are indeed added or enhanced in this fragrance, and the longevity is better than most other scents I’ve tried that are similar to this.
There is a light Anisic-like note from the Toscanol that seems to stretch right down to the base and join the Musk, it’s a very aromatic Muskiness. It is very sexy, but in a sublte way.
A touch of Vanilla from the base, not too much, adds to the very light sweetness that encompasses the whole scent. It’s ‘freshness’ seems to be undying for hours. The base is Mossy and adds just a light Patchouli note that doesn’t join with the sweet, it seems to accompany the spices and anise-like accord in the mix with it’s pungency. The Patchouli is very well played in this, only noticeable if looked for.
Rykiel Man has become one of my favorite daytime scents and, because of it’s sexiness, it can double as a night scent. The sillage and longevity are better than anything like it, it is lively, and it also doubles as a sexy romantic/intimate fragrance. There are not many ‘Aquatic-like’ scents, if any at all, that I could say that about.
In it’s class I would have to call the sillage and longevity above average. It’s the best aquatic alternative I’ve found so far.
