This smells more like a comfy, broken-in leather couch. It’s much smoother than Demeter’s “Leather.” This has a little dust and dirt polished into it. A little body oil, but it’s still a more dry, well-worn leather.
I feel like this would probably be a safer bet than “Leather”…which, I actually think has now been discontinued, so moot point anyway

*Sigh* This is what I get for not reading Fragrantica reviews before buying. I took on e look at the pyramid and purchased. Big fail.
I was looking for a good, rich or dark leather monotheme to use when layering.
Russian leather has synthetic floral notes that are NOT represented in the pyramid above. To my nose it seems like a poorly done, plasticky peony.
The leather note itself is probably okay, it’s just hard to detect through the synthetic florals. My guess is that this is a suedey brown leather, and it would have been great- if not for the frickin’ fake flower notes.
NOTE for fragrance designers: Sometimes LESS IS MORE.
I’ll be giving Riding Crop a go- hopefully that will actually be a monotheme scent.

I have to admit that I have a “thing” for leather note, and this is a single leather note scent done at its best. Demeter Russian Leather is wearable on it’s own, but it is also good for layering other fragrances to give them more edge & make them more interesting. If you love leather note like I do, then this is a must have!

I had a leather bound sketchbook that had a wonderfully rich smell. This doesn’t smell like any leather i’ve ever experienced before… There’s this vague plasticky scent in there that really puts me off. Rather disappointed. Can’t wear this.

A nice, light leather scent, i found riding corp very strong and harsh, but russian leather has a creamyness to it. I like it.

Nice light wearable leather scent suitable for all seasons and could be worn in office. I like it a lot but the longevity is so poor on my skin.

Very nice, very wearable old leather smell. Like old book with yellow pages and leather cover.
