Description

Rose Oud was created in 2010 in cooperation with Calice Becker of such notes as rose, oud, saffron and Guaiac wood. The fragrance is available as 50ml EDP, and its flacon is, just like in Pure Oud, decorated with a golden plate and with characteristic engravings.

This is being discontinued. Don’t worry though, many other oud/rose fragrances out there smell identical

Another Kilian that I will pass on; however, far from the worst Kilian that I have tried. Not even close to being worth the price. To each their own.

    Heavy Musk + Rosewater
    Not bad, just boring.

This is perfectly feminine and masculine at the same time, just the way I like it. A lot of oud perfumes are overrated. This gets it just right.
The rose is what hits you first, and then it gets stronger, then smokier, then sweet. Sweet is what it ends with, perhaps just a tad too much.

As ladyiva says below, this is old lady-ish in the extreme.
I love rose scents, Noir de Noir is one of my all time top 3’s, but this is just too much, simply overpoweringly strong and you get nothing but rose and old people smell with a sort of weird lavendary vibe too.
Thought i’d really like this, actually, I really wanted to like this, but alas this is a big thumbs down from me.

I love rose, but not this one. This is the type of fragrance that gives rose a bad name: when I compare it to my favourite rose-oud pairing – the wonderfully radiant and addictive MFK Oud Silk Mood – this one comes across as way too dense, cloying, heavy, oldfashioned, powdery and overwhelming. I don’t like slapping fragrances with the ‘old-ladyish’ tag, but Rose Oud by Kilian simply begs for it!

It opens deliciously rosy, boozy like cognac, soft leathery, perceptible oud: a sensual, passionate kiss!
Then the scent morphs into something hard, coarse, harsh: a slap in the face! The metamorphosis spooked me. How can a perfume change that radically?
After half an hour the scent settles to a masculine oud with roses and leather, the sweetness and booziness gone, the harshness fortunately too.
Love at first sniff, but then rather strong dislike to end up with “would really like it on a man but a pass for me”.

I just bought myself a bottle of By Kilian Rose Oud. Actually I must admit my intent was to buy Portrait of a Lady (Malle), since I was in search for a bold fleshy rose on a bed of woods and spice fragrance.
Café Rose (Tom Ford) was another candidate but it did not convince me fully (I’m not very much into patchouli notes).
I sniffed and tested all three of them on my skin and yes, Rose Oud was the deserving winner among the three.
On my skin the opening is kind of sour and stingy, but in a few minutes the rose arises rounding the edges. Oud is like a throne here, where Rose is the queen, saffron her crown, guaiac wood her scepter. I’d say it’s more of a cold season perfume.
Longevity is outstanding. I can smell it even after taking a good shower at the end of the day. Sillage is heavy for the first couple of hours and then it retreats sitting closer to skin. I do not get much of a development but at the same time I wouldn’t call it a simple/linear perfume. It has personality, you definitely can smell it (where, IMHO, Portrait of a Lady lacks some uniqueness and reminds me of other non peculiar scents).

From this I get heavy vetiver, rose, and oud. These are the only notes I can detect. Very nice, smoky, rose with a nice balance of semi-medicinal oud. Reminds me of a combination of Bonds New York Oud and Sycomore.

If i never would have smelled Amber Mystique or calligraphy rose i would’ve been able to justify the price, but because i own oud/rose scents that are just as beautiful and some better, i see that this is beautiful but not unique. Sorry, no disrespect to those who love this. I appreciate the quality and the notes. Oud and rose are some of my favorite combinations. This opens like a bottle of aged deep thick red wine! It reminds me of Amber Mystique in the opening. Soon i smell lemon, oud and rose and it’s very similar to an oil i have called Sondos by Al-Rehab. The last phase it becomes slightly powdery on my skin. After the initial wine like opening it stays linear. It’s beautiful but not very long lasting. It started to fade within 45 minutes. Sillage is good for the first 30 minutes and it gradually becomes lighter from there. I enjoy the scent but i personally enjoy Amber Mystique and Sondos much more and both of those have better sillage and longevity. If this was alot cheaper than i would gladly add it to my collection. Please no one hate me for this reveiw lol.. its only my honest experience. Xoxoxo

    Gorgeous. Absolutely Beautiful rose!

This rose feels sweet and tart at the same time, like it’s accompanied by red berries and pink pepper. The tartness is further supported by the sour and bitter oud, and I agree that this has an almost there citrus note. It’s much more pungent and sour than for example La Fille de Berlin, which is mainly fizzy, soapy metallic rose. I would place Rose Oud more in the vein of elegant evening roses, like Stella for example.
This scent is actually quite light, I think. It’s nothing like Calligraphy Rose which has vanilla, powder and smoke. I think Rose Oud not unique enough to justify the very high price, as there are several rose-oud scents worth exploring. Then again, I prefer my roses either with vanilla like Rose Absolue by YR or even sweeter berry-rose jam like Valentina Pink.

Rose Oud By Kilian can’t miss ever in my collection. This for me is my best in my winter’s collection. I keep buying it when I finish. I can refill the bottle so I can save a lot of money. This is an other good thing in this high quality niche parfum . The sillage is enourmeous and I keep feeling it always all the day. People ask me what I have. Fell good. I have the bottle with Kilian’s signature, he sign it in front of me in Roma Italy. He’s a very handsome man.

It is a linear oriental fragrance with densely sweet rose and oud. The oud scent is present but not too strong or repulsive to most people. I am not sure if real oud is used here but it is very realistic. I have a small collection of oud oils so I am familiar with the scent. The perfume is warm, beautiful and very long lasting, though not much of a development. Luckily I got a tester refill bottle at a decent price. Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady is more interesting to me.

Rose are among mY FAVORITE smells
& flowers sO I had high hopes for this.
Got a nice sample when I bought L&T
and finally using it up now years later
when I am thinking of buying a bottle.
Is it any wonder that I’m severely dis-
appointed at mY dislike of this scent?
Especially the dry down – it smells like
a GUY. Yet there’s rose in it. (Yuck!)
Thus rendering this By Kilian completely
    unwearable by either gender …Peace…

By Kilian’s Rose Oud is my first flirtation with either signature note in a By Kilian fragrance, and while a powerful composition, it’s not especially deviant enough to merit special attention or true consideration.
The note breakdown of rose, oud, saffron, and guaiac wood actually sums this fragrance up pretty tidily. It’s only slightly sweet, from the guaiac wood, and only slightly bitter/sour, from the saffron, and is mostlly dominated by rose and oud. It opens with more rose, and closes with more oud. Its tartness give is it almost a citrus character all throughout its lifespan.
Rose Oud is definitely in the higher-than-usual tier of pricing, at $395 for 50ml, so with an already-saturated market of niche rose, oud, and specifically rose/oud fragrances, its incomprehensible to stomach the cost, as all the better rose and/or oud fragrances I own are a better value, not to mention better compositions. Rose Oud definitely shouldn’t be the basis for judging By Kilian, as most celebrate their boozy fragrances (at least on the men’s side) above all others. Still, with strong projection and longevity, Rose Oud is a potentially worthy consideration for those with money to spend. An interesting but surely not a superlative rose oud.

An elegant woody scent with a very dense rose but the oud just in the background. Would love to have a bottle but in no way justifying the crazy price, its about 320 euro where i am from and its lovely but not special enough to charge this price.

this starts off with rose and what i perceive to be a saffron. it has a subtle spiciness that has a honeyed almost fruity sweetness. then it gets a smokiness to it that is really nice, and the rose calms down some-i am liking it better at this stage as it is not quite as fruity. it ends up reminding me of a sweet incense, and this is a subtler and less leathery oud than others i’ve experienced. i like both rose and oud and it’s interesting to try different interpretations of the combination of both notes. this seems more rosy than oud-y but not rose in a traditional sense. i am having trouble describing it, but it’s very luxurious and i find this scent very unisex. on the dry down it seems like primarily saffron and oud on me, still a sweet spiciness, but way less of the winey/fruity rose. pretty good experience for my first by kilian scent!

  21. :

    4 out of 5

Interesting opening, with much more rose than oud initially, along with a subtle note that is fresh and fruity – somewhat like pear, or one of the esters that mimic pear.
The rose element is rich and full, but it remains fresh and it does not have the sour edge that many rich rose scents have. It plays off the saffron warm/bitter notes effectively, preventing this rose from being too conventional.
The oud element (is this true oud? if so it is a mild and very disciplined oud…) adds depth, but does not properly come into play until well into the dry-down. The drydown is warm and mild and very pleasant but it has poor sillage.
This fragrance is infinitely more complex than the four elements listed. However it is cleverly blended into a deceptively simple and approachable fragrance.
Until now, JHAG Midnight Rose was my favourite rose oud, but this is more delicate and more refined.
    I’d buy a bottle… if it wasn’t (literally) gold-plated.

number 3/5 of my samples from the ‘by kilian’ line, each progressively worse on my skin from the last. as you’ll see from my first review on ‘sacred wood’, i knew from the start these wouldn’t work on my skin.
opens with a sharp, artificial, soapy rose that honestly made my nose wrinkle; almost bordering on toilet-spray territory. things only worsen with the introduction of chemical, anonymous woody notes, with that odd ‘fuzzy’ hairspray-like vibe developing. (as per other reviews of ‘by kilian’ perfumes, this seems to be a trend on my skin, and not a pleasant one.) all together this is just hideous.
luckily the sillage is low after the first 10 minutes, becoming a skin scent before dissipating completely after about 3 hours. 295 euros? if this is how it smells on other people, this is beyond a joke.

Strong rose reminiscent of MFK silk mood. Very similar opening but kilian dries down To a more candied, darker version of rose than MFK. I guess I like this ok. I’m not one who likes a lot of sweetness in my perfumes and the opening of this screams “grandma’s tea parties”. Fortunatly the dry down brings forth a duskiness…an almost dry, light rose with a darker overtone of wood. That’s when it shines forth for me. Not really my cup of tea, and I’m happy enough with a 7.5 ml sample. Wouldn’t spend money on this one. Especially not kilians premium prices.
    Scent 6/10
    Projection 8/10
    Fortitude 8/10
    Feb 17th 2015
Update: ok on further evaluation and another wearing, I have to say that this is the standout of the line. I’m still not a huge fan of flowery perfume, but this one really is more candied, dark rose than flowery rose. It’s really a great scent and I might just have to make a purchase.
Scent..an extra 2 for 8/10…this one whirls around you like a dervish as you walk around. I Saw several people turn there heads up and sniff like a dog smelling the air as I walked through town today.

    A SAFFRON ROSE
Rouse Oud by Kilian is a spicy Arabian fresh rose oud perfume that has a warm woody, fuzzy feel to it. It’s quite genius and takes a few applications on different times to fully appreciate it and figure it out, at least it did for me. It’s all about rose, saffron and oud along with good spices like cinnamon ad cardamom ,both of which I love !
It has this fresh tart feel to it, like most good oud fragrances have. Sort of like a wet feel, dewy, walking through the woods type of smell after a hefty rain downfall. Or a rose garden after it had rained ,
Aromatic, fresh , tart rosy and soft spicy with a large dose of saffron and sprinkles of cinnamon with a leathery feel would sum up Rouse oud for me.
The Kilian oud collection is an amazing line but extremely over prized if you asked me , or anyone else for that matter , I would own the entire line if it was more affordable.
I often think of L’Artisans Saffron Troubant when I wear this , Rouse Oud is basically a more complex , fuzzier and thicker version in my opinion. Rouse Oud is more wine like, more complex and sort of reminds me of grape juice as well.
Sweet? Sorry guys , not overly sweet to me more a sour ,fresh smell, like a walk In a rose garden after a rainfall.
    I like Christianne1 review, like a fine wine ,,,

Starts off with a rose/saffron spiced-vanilla + OUD combo that’s quite common, but here very well done. Almost a gourmand oud, along lines of Montale’s White Aoud w/ the same harsh oud opening you have to become accustomed to.
After maybe 30-45mins the vanilla/sweetness is replaced by the guaiac wood: skanky, dark, spiced goodness, hand in hand still with saffron. Rose is 2nd tier at this point but adds a necessary balance of tartness.
Very pretty! Only I already have White Aoud for a gourmand saffron/nila/rose and Idole for the skanky tart woods of guaiac, so I don’t think I’ll puruse this one anytime soon. IF I didn’t have those other 2 it might be love, though.

oh goodness, you can smell the depth of quality in the individual ingredients, but that rose is just TOO SWEET. cloyingly sweet, actually…it actually makes me a little queasy, which i know speaks more to myself than the scent itself, but oh goodness is it strong!!!

I tend to be highly critical of anything in this price range. I also thought I had tired of oud combos in general. I also don’t normally care much for “boozy”.
But all of that was out the window when I smelled Rose Oud.
This is breathtaking rose “oud” perfection in my opinion (heavy on the rose and very light on the oud, but the star of the show is saffron). The dry down is so incredibly beautiful that it makes me almost want to clear out the rest of my collection.
I completely agree with Eeyore III in every way (and others giving it the highest praise). This is a 10/10. While I would never pay $400 for it (or 50 mls of ANYTHING), especially an “oud” that does not contain any actual oud, I have purchased two bottles on Ebay along with numerous samples and travel sizes. I literally have a stockpile. I will buy the refills at $185 to save some as well.
Rose Oud ages on my skin like a fine wine and the rose grows richer and sweeter and more “rosy” and beautiful with each passing hour. Loads of the most fantastic saffron, too. It lasts a solid 10 hours on me with only a tiny touch up spray needed to get me through the rest of the day. Longevity is incredible.
Rose Oud is a stellar, stunning beauty. Captivating, addicting, lush, deep red boozy rose & saffron perfection with just a slight touch of an oud feel (but I don’t smell any actual oud)….Rose Oud transports me to another world. Makes my eyes roll back in my head.
My favorite from the Arabian Nights collection and also my favorite from the entire by Kilian line (surpassed Back to Black, my previous favorite).
    Rose Oud is magnificent.

  30. :

sweet and sour…. fresh and heavy, simple yet complex.. the sweet rose and oud are quite dark and moody, with leathery and smoky undertones, but it’s still a brightly feminine fragrance. it is also incredibly long lasting – 8 hours later still very strong. In terms of a fragrance as a whole – there are cheaper and better rose-oud combos are out there, so this is definitely not worth the price tag.

I wish I got the nuances that everyone is experiencing. From the reviews, I thought this would be like the olfactory equivalent of shining ROSE GOLD. However on me, it was very pretty, very smooth, but very boring. Maybe I am too used to the metallic gritty rock ‘n roll darkness of Juliette Has A Gun Midnight Oud (also a rose-oud). Too bad.

for me it is almost like ‘silk mood’ by kurkdjian. more concentrated rose (cloying). both are at around the same price, so for mine it’s either but not both. that isolated oud note is nasty (and i mean good!), but still, can’t separate the two…

    Daaaaahhhhling!!!!
This is like the mad auntie of Kilian’s Oud family. A flamboyant, reckless alcoholic, with bright pink lipstick and zebra print stilettos. No man can handle her.
With an almost wine-like texture, the rose is unreservedly feminine, while the oud has that musty fur coat quality…which only adds to the mad auntie image.
Tom Ford’s “Noir de Noir” is much more accessible for men, and deliciously sexy, thanks to the black truffle note. I’ve yet to smell anything that even rivals it.
So I think I’ll sneak out before auntie Rose wakes up.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

The first spritz is similar to JHAG Midnight Oud but as it quickly settles into the heart notes the Oud seems to disappear and the rose takes over to become a very sweet perfume indeed. To my nose this is much more feminine than most Ouds and I think it would smell too sweet on a man.
My overall opinion of this is that it is a very beautiful and sweet perfume but it’s not very heavy on the oud note.
The fragrance remains fairly linear throughout the whole olfactory journey but the longevity is very average.
Silage is good but the price tag on this fragrance is IMHO not worth it.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

For some reason it reminds me of bug spray maybe (deet like) it is probably the Oud…I thought it did when I sprayed it on in the morning, and then I was like maybe it is just me. I did like it then later that morning one of my students walked into my classroom and said, “What smells like bug spray?” So yeah not sure this one works with my chemistry. Did anyone else have this experience? I still sort of like it, the rose does come through well, but it will forever remind me of the bug spray I used as a kid.

  39. :

On me it turns into a very clean, straight up, rose soliflore, with no development whatsoever. Not even a nice 200+ oh my goodness this is like crushing the most exquisite roses on my body rose soliflore. No. Only slightly above nondescript rose-scented air freshener/body mist from the discount bin. I am appalled but I do understand that it could only be my body chemistry.
    In any case:
1-Do not blind-buy this one, even if you’re using £20 bills as toilet paper

Leathery rose is what I would call this not oud. I don’t get any oud whatsoever but guess what? It’s not a bad thing at all! In fact this is one of the best perfumes I’ve bought recently. And I received 2 compliments in one day so that’s got to say something for this perfume. I think it works perfectly on my skin and with my body chemistry. The bad part is now I keep spraying my body over and over again because I’m addicted to the fragrance. It’s quite amazing and I want to bathe in it. That’s a little crazy! Don’t you think?
But overall this goes way up to the top of my Top 10 Favorite perfumes now list. It’s classy, sexy, sophisticated, unique and man I’m so in love with rose perfumes lately I can’t get enough of this!
If you haven’t smelled this go, get your nose on this beauty because It’s quite amazing! Make friends with the sales associate so they’d give you a sample to take and home to try. Once you do you’ll be addicted like me.
Rose Oud lasts a while and projects very decently. I got two compliments in one day?? That’s excellent.

    By Kilian Rose Oud.
“lipsticky rose”-I thought when I smelled the tester bottle at Sacks. “Reminds me something from the past, from 80s or 90s maybe. Yes, the drop of it on the sprayer reminded me of the lipstick I used to own time ago. Intrigued, I got myself a sample.
I sprayed the paper card first. Did not enjoy it. I thought: “It’s or something shamelessly immensely synthetic or expensive rarely sourced something that I am not aware of.”
Then in despair I have decided to spray my new cardigan with Rose Oud generously!
At that moment I thought that maybe I would have to evict my cardigan or I would have to move out. Such irreconcilable differences we seemed to have at that moment.
I have survived through that night. Intense hot tire smell (description invented by other perfume reviewers), burnt tire smell or something similar +a shadow of other intense perfumy perfumes.
Why was it made? Who wants this fragrance aesthetics?
While sculpting the Rose, her facets were grossly exaggerated. Amplified to the brink of completely unnatural it sure lasts much longer than any Rose I know of.
I have had another sample from Kilian line, Beyond Love. I had so much expectations from it , instead I received Dior’s Pure Poison with some modifications, maybe stronger but softer.
    Disappointed so far.
    Update:
I have the card sprayed with Trish McEvoy Black Rose Oud EDP here, that does a very similar thing as the Rose in Rose Oud By Kilian, seemingly deep lipsticky, heavily exaggerated Rose. Although it’s less intense and less lasting one, less hot, much less of burnt tire, still unpleasantly smoky. Rather simple, not interesting, but heavy fragrance to my nose.
If this is the latest trend, I do not appreciate it, especially for this price!

Hello Where’s Mr.Oud ? I could only see you small amout . Rose oud are all about Rose , saffron and guaiac.

Honestly, Rose Oud is a waste of money, your better off purchasing one of the plethora of Montale Rose/Oud fragrances, here is why. This fragrance is way overpriced for a horribly synthetic concoction. The drydown is so powdery and synthetic it gave me a headache. Honestly, I would recommend purchasing Montale’s Black Aoud, Attar, Aoud Damascus, Aoud Rose petals, which are far superior in their olfactory expression and all have gorgeous drydowns.

Thank you, ConiferLover for this nice sample. A full bottle I could NEVER afford, so this is it: a trip into By Kilian elegance via a LuckyScent sample.
Applied with that tiny dipstick, the smallest amount of scent is very potent and that is probably due to the oud. The first impression is a fresh tea rose in full bloom, peppery and strong. That fades into a velvety feel, almost like a young wine, there is such powdery smoothness. The aroma changes only a little and becomes deeper and yummier … without losing its bright rose in the foreground.
I can see a lady wearing this during a theater performance and her neighbors might appreciate it.
Or, the faintest trace to a job interview, just to show how classy one can be.

I got my Rose Oud samples yesterday, which brightened up my day after having spent the previous night crying. The rose is soft, smokey with the oud. Ethereal and sensual as well with its spicy notes. Very lovely. It makes you feel so much better than before you applied it. It’s beautiful. I would like to get refill bottle or do a bottle split with somebody to enjoy some more of this great fragrance. Calice Becker, you are one hell of a genius.
It is a more feminine fragrance in my opinion, although if a guy can get away with this, I’d say he’s smell pretty hot!

Most oudh-and-rose perfumes tilt to the oudh-dominant side of the divide. “Rose Oud” tilts decisively, and beautifully, the other way. The obvious quality of the ingredients bespeaks luxury, but somehow it is a very simple, true-to-nature luxury, in a simple/masterful composition: wonderful rose and oudh, playing together in the air.
The opening 30 minutes feature a gorgeous deep rose note, so transfixing that one searches for it the rest of the day, but it departs (as all openings by definition must) into a dark thicket of unisex (in terms of conventional gender stereotypes) rose, still deep compared with anything but its own opening, which, if paintings had their own perfumes, would be the thicket and the roses depicted in Edward Burne-Jones’ “The Briar Rose” series, in which enchanted, slumbering court figures have been overgrown by a magical rose briar, of which it was sung:
The fateful slumber floats and flows
    About the tangle of the rose;
But lo! The fated hand and heart
To rend the slumbrous curse apart.
William Morris, Poems by the Way (1891).
This so-rich-as-to-be-slumbrous rose dominates, with a subdued-but-present oudh backdrop, for the next 4-5 hours. Finally, the oudh drydown takes over, declining to skin-scent status but with beautiful waftings of rose continuing to emerge sporadically for 8+ hours. The main thing: how simply gorgeous the rose note is. It is also impressive how long the rose lasts into the drydown, and how “bright” the drydown is compared with the standard oudh drydown. So, for a scent with a major floral component, longevity is excellent. Sillage is above average, which I like—though frankly it could never be enough for me.
Though a sage once said “to love is to stop comparing,” I will nonetheless venture to disambiguate “Rose Oud” from some “similar” perfumes. Armani prive “Rose D’Arabie” makes an initial gesture at tilting roseward; however, in “Rose D’Arabie” the only rose note of sufficient depth to be comparable to the rose in “Rose Oud” is gone within an hour, with the rose thereafter remaining being of a much lighter nature, and the perfume then going off in a rather common oudh-dominated direction (think Montale “Black Aoud” and progeny) quite different from the path “Rose Oud” takes. Even in the first hour, “Rose D’Arabie” has a sweet, vanilla-caramelly note that is reminiscent of Jo Malone “Velvet Rose & Oud,” and is unlike “Rose Oud.”
Juliette Has A Gun “Midnight Oud” starts in a similar style to “Rose Oud,” opening with a very nice deep rose accord that seems as if it will be powerful and lasting, and which seems to be served by the oudh/patchouli base, rather than being otherwise related to it. However, the rose fades too soon into a mere accompaniment to the oudh, so that all that remains after about 90 minutes is something a lot like the “Rose D’Arabie” or “Black Aoud” drydown. Again, that is not bad, but it is not “Rose Oud.”
“Rose Oud” is simply richer than any Montale. Probably the most analogous Montale is “Aoud Damascus” (“Aoud Queen Roses” being a somewhat distant second). The Montales, which are enjoyable, solid perfumes, are nonetheless to “Rose Oud” as sauvignon blanc is to cabernet sauvignon. And “Rose Oud” makes such deep-rose-only perfumes as Czech and Speake “Dark Rose” seem thinner-than-thin, without the complex oudh base.
For a rose-and-oudh pairing that tilts roseward, by Kilian’s “Rose Oud” stands apart. Magnificent.
    My score: 10/10

    This fragrance smells good.
The rose and oud notes are really the leading.
Intensive enough, but far from being overpowering.
I rather like it despite the oud note usually reminds me about the dentistry office.

Definitely every skin speaks its own personal idiom! I could agree with almost the majority of the reviewers as on the paper I perceive the same rose, saffron, oud, medicin …..and personally also a hint of lemon oil too, but on my wrist things change quite a lot and the beautiful rose is – here – so pleasantlly dominating! My reluctant skin happened to destroy true masterpieces simply opposing a strenuous resistance and consequently it managed to win the match on more than an occasion… but not in this case! It could be the perfect fragrance as it suits me very well. Rich – even though not a very complex fragrance – not impolite sillage also but not remarkable persistence (this is what I perceive) and perhaps this is the only ‘black spot’ in this fragrance that – on the contrary – I would have said very beautiful.

I’m usually pleased with most By Kilian fragrances and I haven’t yet sampled one I openly disliked. Rose Oud, however, stand somewhere in between for me.
It starts with rose – deep, luscious, sweet; and oud – sour and somewhat medicinal. This is my favourite stage and I wish it lasted longer, but, unfortunately, what follows next is a bit less exciting: the scent gradually transforms and acquires a strange ammonia-like quality, which is not as pleasant. In the dry-down, I smell dry rose and dusty books.
I strongly recommend sampling this fragrance on your skin before you decide for the purchase, as it might be a skin-chemistry issue. Personally, I prefer Micallef’s Rose Oud to this one – Micallef’s is not as sticky, it’s delicious and slightly “younger”.

My chemistry does not go with this fragrance. It is really nice on paper, but sour on my skin… I can hardly believe its the same scent. Sour oud, horrible on me. Glad I sampled, normally my chemistry sweetens fragrances, but not this time!

lovelly light oud. It is to my personal taste rose and oud – somehow light and deep at the same time. Airy. It is all about using purest natural ingredie
