Dry, Woody almost aquatic Rose. This is smashing. I would say the main note that sticks out here is by all accounts: Rose. With that being said it’s a light, airy rose with some dry notes (papyrus) definitely sticking out to me. It’s lovely. I would say this Rose scent tracks more to the ‘masculine side’; however, it is most definitely unisex and women of all types would and should wear this as well. This is a breath of fresh air – and boy is it uplifting.

Less deep than Voleur de Roses from L’Aristan Parfumeur, similar to Etro ManRose with less natural ingredients. Smells interesting and retro but synthetic. Synthetic and retro seems to be common point to many Byredo, like Blanche, La Tulipe, Mojave Ghost or Bal D’Afrique or Oud Immortel and Accord Oud.

Byredo – Rose of No Man’s Land Eau de Parfum
This perfume was made to commemorate the noble nurses of World War I.
A blend of dewy roses brightened by ripe raspberry fruits, papyrus gives a dry woody note in the background. The overall effect is airy and uplifting.

In the opening pink pepper smacks you in the face, but smacks you with a hint of fruitiness and possibly patchouli as well. Highly enjoyable. The perfume then develops in to a slightly spicy, lush, warm red rose cushion of scent. Not overbearing or too heavy, but just heavy enough. Overall, a very soft, lovely scent; it’s my favorite of the Byredo scents. A good autumn/winter fragrance. It somewhat reminds me of the church I used to go to as a child.

I did a blind buy when I found it online at one of the big box stores. On my skin, it reminded me of Tomorrow , an Avon fragrance created by Olivier Cresp, which also list raspberry and pepper in the notes. The longevity is a monster. I sprayed 10 hours ago and it’s still there. I didn’t like it when it was $20 Avon, much less at the hefty Byredo price tag. It’s going back. 🙁

I don’t normally like rose scents, they seem too mature or too boring bery often.
But this is different. It’s very intense, very juicy and rich. Far from boring. Mature, but not too “womanly”.

This is lovely. I couldn’t put my finger on the notes, but it’s a rosy fruity floral that smells jammy and red.

I think this is quite nice and possibly the most enjoyable from the Byredo line (that I’ve tried), save potentially Pulp. I quite enjoy the pairing of the sourly fruity raspberry and refreshing tartness of rose. Think Majestic Rose with a softer rose and oud replaced with musks and oak. When you smell it, you’re instantly calmed. Real calm, not momentary calm – the type of calm that makes your head feel fuzzy.

In the first notes I smell raspberry bloom, more than rose. love that sweetness of raspberry. Then comes rose.
This is very feminine and soft scent. The only one peraonally for me that do not annoys me, even if I am not a fan of roses

Just got this today in the mail…
At first spray, the scent is subtle but very beautiful. Like the shy one in the room, this one does not speak loudly, but when it speak, it’s quite profound.
I actually love the fact that the scent is subtle… it’s personal and very intimate. I’m excited to see how this one wears for sure. It has a soft sweetness… and sometimes smells a bit like powdery body lotion.
    **UPDATE**
After spending a very intimate night with RONML… continuing to sniff away and now into a new day… The thing is, it’s not that I dislike the scent as it IS pleasant. It is very soft and faint. It sort of smells a bit synthetic like body spray you could get from a Bath and Body… So I’m not sure if the price is worth it…
Seems to have staying power though… I spray a jacket yesterday and I could still smell the scent this AM.

As a niche lover I find Byredo’s perfumes a bit overrated. I’ve tried every perfume form Byredo but nothing is thrilled me in the collection. This perfume is a raspberry/rose scent which is not amazing for me (considering the price tag). Sour, not very sweet, woody-ambery rose perfume created for people who love the fruity rose perfumes.

Byredo / Rose of No Man’s Land
    The Oriental Spicy group
    Base notes: bitter and gentle
Distribution and durability: medium to high
    Starting note:
The heavy alcoholic start of a bitter drug that saturates your nose (which you will hardly understand) in layers of mild, floral, powdery flavors. This phase is long-lasting. The condition that is created is incomprehensible to me.
Then it is smoother, it’s smoky and woody, and the amber smell is formed in perfume, which will last until the end of the perfume.
    Middle notes:
In this stage, the heavier, heavier, fragrant atmosphere of the fragrance is low, with the heart and heart fragrances of rose, floral, powdery and mild spicy.
Gentle cream sweets that work beautifully at this stage
    Final note:
The perfume fragrance core continues to be roses and floral aromas, in the amber bedding with hot and smoky juice, green, and fungus of papyrus, this stage is further enhanced, and the rest of the acorns are on the edge of the periphery and only understands them.
    Rose Of No Man’s Land
A sweet, pleasant fragrance, yet solemn and hefty, with the main chocolates: Rose, mild spice, floral, wood, a gum that you can wear for party parties or daily half-dresses.
The point is that most women wear perfume more.

“There’s a rose in no man’s land and it’s wonderful to see.” William Thomas 1916.
So you know, these days I favor gourmand perfumes, & I am loving this. Byredo’s tribute to the field nurses of WWI- R.o.N.M.L.is sweet, honeyed and richly resinous.
It opens with a dash of pink pepper + crystallized raspberry blossom – followed by a deep, lush, (jammy!) Turkish rose. No aroma-chemicals here, R.o.N.M.L is anchored by golden amber, and sticky, sappy papyrus. Like those high minded nurses of gentle birth, the ingredients are of the highest quality, & the rose is breathtakingly young, just in bloom. Over all a captivating, refined, & unisex scent. A masterpiece for Byredo.
    * Update: 2nd FB and it seems fresher this go “round. I don’t know if it’s me or a reformulation.

This would be a great wedding fragrance, could even be considered unisex as it’s not an overly feminine rose

I’ve worn this in fall and, in the cold, the papyrus and pepper really sharpens the rose, making this a very abstract floral scent. I just put this on the other day and what is surprising is the banana note that mysteriously appears during a hot summer’s day giving you a blast of full throaty rose, then a splash of banana, then a dry-down of more rose cradled in papyrus with pepper puffs here and there. Needs to be reapplied frequently for the return of the complexity but all in all a fine lady to have around. Like the other Byredo scents I’ve sampled and owned, this is a very mid-range quality perfume though it does its job and can be quite the friend when you need it.

This is my dream rose. The beginning is a rounded out sweet red berry on a red red rose. It doesn’t smell like rose water or powdery at all. It’s when you have your face down in the rose and you breathe in DEEP. This smells red and velvety. Beautiful amber base. Reminds me a teeny bit of Rose Anonyme, but not as dry or spicy/textured.
I need a full bottle ASAP.

This is simply phenomenal & I can certainly understand why this has such enormous appeal to anyone who grew up with access to fragrant rose gardens (my Grandmother adored and babied all her rose bushes!).
It remains a true rose with no shocking twists but is an earthier rose on my skin, perhaps this is due to the papyrus component, one I’m unfamiliar with so am I’m unsure what that brings but I like it if that’s what it is!
Aside from the hints of pink pepper and amber notes there is also a big nod to the subtlety of antique roses versus the “boom!” in-your-face glory outrageousness of tea roses, which lends this to having an almost sacred quality or feel for me, so I choose to wear this especially when I need to remind myself how originally beautiful and hardy I am in this great big world.
Lucky that this had good longevity on me & my colleagues at work have all given compliments so no work conflicts, whew!
If you love rose scents, this is definitely a great one well worth exploring and possibly adding to your library.

Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land is definitely a slight improvement on Rose Noir, by having at least an interesting, contrasting mix of notes that complement the rose: raspberry, pepper, amber, and papyrus to my nose, mainly, and I mean in this sense that the papyrus is what I assume to be the vague woodiness I get in the dry down, as I’m not familiar with the note of papyrus.
Like Rose Noir, the rose note (for me) falls somewhere between fresh and heavy, and is the main feature.
Performance is decent, but Rose of No Man’s Land again falls victim to being good but not good enough to buy at Byredo’s pricing, even if slightly discounted on the secondary market. Still, it is pleasant and I’d be happy to wear it further if I already owned it.

i love florals (in particular rose + white floral) so i knew i had to try this fragrance. i finally got my hands on a sample to see if i’d like it…it’s so lovely.
on me, it’s a burst of fresh turkish rose with a round raspberry note. the raspberry confused me, but i can see the compliment there. it’s fresh and juicy and green next to the delicate floral. a few hours in, it’s a soft, powdery rose that still manages to project. the dry down is soft raspberries and musky rose close to my skin. i can still smell it 9 hours later, though it’s super faint, it’s there.
i love it. i plan on saving up and purchasing the full size bottle. it’s the prettiest real rose scent i’ve ever smelled. much better than stella, which reads very synthetic on me.

First I tried it without knowing it’s notes:I could smell rose,a pretty note, not dark or too much spicy,a berry-rose but I couldn’t say whether it’s the berri-ish vibe of rose itself or there’s a raspberry note.I could also detect sometimes dry,a little powdery,a little woody,a little spicy,a little herbal.gradually it becomes less sweet, less berryish, drier, more woody, more powdery and more likable for me as rose appears very natural in this stage.finally what is left on skin is a combination of dry, woody, natural rose and clean musk
When I checked the notes I could understand what I was smelling.there’s traces of all mentioned noes.it reminds me a turkish rose that someone has placed in between of papers of an old dairy notebook
It’s a lovely rose scent but I won’t buy it as I have lanvin Jeanne rose which has a lot in common with this one with a budget friendly price

For some reason Byredo fragrances just don’t work for me. I’ve tested quite a few, but I’ve never felt compelled to buy any of them. For example, I was intrigued by Rose of No Man’s Land, not only because of the poetic title, but also because, on paper this looked like it might be right up my alley: I love rose, raspberry and spices, and I can pull off some quite heady rose offerings. However, this particular rose immediately turned sour, almost rancid on my skin. Too bad.

This is a beautiful, light rose fragrance. On my skin the raspberry does not come through, instead I have a vibrant opening of pure rose petals, which settles down to a warm rose/amber scent. There is another note in there that I cannot really describe, perhaps it is the papyrus, but it adds a slight complexity that elevates this from being a pure rose perfume.
Being a light fragrance I tend to pump it on with a heavy hand, and this lasts well to the end of a long work day. Sillage is good, I get whiffs of it all day long.

This smells exactly like indian roses to me! It reminds me roses used for weddings, festivals, in mandirs and etc. It’s not a fresh or delicate rose scent, but a richer fragrance of rose petals pulled from the stem and piled together. It’s a very deep, nuanced scent and there’s a slight fruity raspberry note that blends very nicely with the rose smell without seeming artificial, like petals that are turning fruity from sitting out in the sun too long. I adore this perfume but its main shortcoming is that the longevity is pretty weak – 3-4hrs and then I can’t smell it. This is especially strange for a byredo perfume because they usually leave a haunting trace many hours after they’re sprayed.

This fragrance reminds me of the entertainment city of “zombie land” and i have absolutely no idea why? i feel it’s the atmosphere of that attraction specially the booth that Woody was trapped in! although it is intimate with a slight blood essence in, something sharp and something red, something tender, or a velvet bed! it has some sensuality to it i can’t deny but still reminds me of Zombieland movie and i still smell blood 🙂

Interesting fragrance. Rose scents are usually difficult for me. This vision of roses is ok. Where I really start to struggle is with the dry down and base notes. There is still a little rose but then all I can pick up is aoud. This is not a listed note so it must be something my brain or nose has imagined. This phantom note is a simmering sour undercurrent that I find too challenging.

  34. :

    4 out of 5

Lovely perfume, more rose-inspired than rose based, however, with the ‘raspberry bloom’ (they are virtually scentless IRL), woody and and other elements well to the fore throughout most of it’s incredibly short life.
Let me be clear – I LOVE this perfume, but it lasts about as long as most fragrances’ opening notes do, quickly fading to a very, very subtle and pleasant skin scent that appears to be based on an unlisted but very well-behaved musk note, more than an amber one.
If I ever have a bottle of this, I will refresh it about every 20 minutes… 🙂
Edit – I have a FB now, and I am delighted to report that it lasts much, much better with a good spray from the bottle. This is a dry, refined, almost herbal rose, and it is just divine.

  35. :

Starts very fresh. It’s a “real” rose, not a plastic toy doll or a powdery older lady fragrance
After an hour or so, all I am left with is the raspberry–which I don’t like at all. Fortunately for me there is no projection/sillage, so it doesn’t matter
It’s nice, but there are so many amazing rose scents out there though, it’s hard to get excited about this one

I love it! it’s so beautiful and well blended.
On my (man’s) skin it lasts long.. I can’t stop sniffing my wrist. Sofisticated and elegant.
IMO, papyrus (mixed with amber) in the base, makes that men can wear this too.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

Well, there are two ways I can look at this scent. From one hand, it is definitely not particularly unique and is a bit redundant for some, I guess. From the other, though, it’s a very nice and quality-made rose soliflore, and, for me, that is more than enough to like this thing.
Now, I have no clue if there’s a raspberry bloom note in there because I don’t really know the smell of it, but even if it is present it must’ve been smothered to death by a potent, yet never overwhelming Turkish rose(I get the very same rose variety as in Paestum Rose, which is Turkish as well). There is some peppery spiciness in the beginning, but aside from that, this scent is all about a very pretty, slightly(but really slightly) powdery rose laying on a decent woody-amberish base.
The way this rose is mannered is terribly unisex, even if without too much additions of any kind to modify it. Its projection is very tame after an hour or even less, but, as a skin scent, it lasts for a very long amount of time. I see this one as a fairly versatile scent, season-wise.
In order to love this one, a person really needs to appreciate rose a lot. In my opinion, this one is better than the other Byredo rose, Rose Noir. Also, it doesn’t really remind me of Voleur de Roses because it doesn’t have even a drop of patchouli. I like this one very much, and I find it slightly different in a crowded territory, mostly because of a different rose variety.
    8,75/10

Excuse me for beeing cynical.. But..; Serge Lutens made a rose scent as a tribute for the strong woman in Berlin after the second world war.., 2 years later Byredo launches a very similar rose scent as a tribute for the nurses in the first world war…
A bit copy-past copywriter fairytale and sales pitch..
Do it without this stupid “worldwar one” idle talk and there you have just a very nice spicy rose scent.

  39. :

Slightly jammy rose to start but not as jammy as say Calligraphy rose then it settles into a very realistic rose that lays on a woody/ambery base, quite beautiful. It’s a delicate rose not as strong as Potrait of a lady. The fact that this scent was dedicated to the nurses of world war one makes this even more romantical and wearable for me.

    Sorry.

I’ve been obsessing about turkish rose as a scent note since I first got a whiff of Frederic Malle’s Portrait of a Lady, and when I found out that Byredo’s new scent would be about just that type of rose I began to stalk this at the time not yet released scent Rose of no Man’s Land.
I find RONML to be much fresher with more air to it than the POAL, but in a very positive way. Usually I can’t wear scents that categorizes as fresh as they tend to just dissapear on my skin and as I’ve been searching for a day wear scent this hit just the right spot for me. I’m an oriental kind of gal and this new addition to my collection compromises just enough with my otherwise heady taste. It starts of with a balsamic but airy rose and just as I think it’s all about to fade away the turkish rose kicks in again and even tough I for starters just sprayed on my wrist I could feel it all surround me and I enjoy the experience OH SO MUCH.
It is sweet and flowery but more lika a rose bouquet that you’ve had hung upside down to dry, concentrated in flavour the same way as sundried tomatoes compared to fresh tomatoes. It is mature, sexy and fresh as it is not to much. Just lingering around you and it makes me feel very mysterious.
I wouldn’t say that the longevity is great but in my case It suits me perfectly for a day wear that I can bring to work without suffocating my colleagues. The sillage is just enough for a bit of attention.
Take it for what it is and you will enjoy it. A must try!

If you are searching for a darker and more masculine version of Rose Noir, well here you got one. I’m not a fan of rose based scents but I thought this one was nice, the rose was in the background. But after an hour there was a lot more rose. I didn’t like it but if you’re in to rose than I think you will try it.
