Description

Rose 4 Reines is a fragrance introduced in 2009, and it wraps with delicate freshness of dewy and velvety rose petals. It encompasses several sorts of rose: Grasse rose, Bulgarian rose, Moroccan rose and Turkish rose. The fragrance is dedicated to count Forcalquier’s daughters: Marguerite, Eléonore, Sancie and Béatrix, who married princes and became 4 Forcalquier queens! They were as beautiful as roses. The fragrance arrives as 20 and 75ml edt, along with accompanying body care products.

I appreciate this rose perfume, it is fresh and woody and not too sweet. Violet and heliotrope are faint and soft. I’m not too fond of rose soliflor perfumes but I like this one in spring mornings. Clean, formal and austere without being dated or too cold. Longevity is around six hours and sillage is soft to moderate.

Beautiful roses! I love it, it’s so rosy; so sweet and fresh and moist and rich and delicate, all at the same time. It’s wonderful. I wear it often, and with other perfumes too, as it adds a lovely delicate rose to many other perfumes I have.
I adore the bottle too. It’s beautiful, and so is the box. It’s so elegant and feminine – the perfume and the bottle, and the colours. It looks regal, opulent and strong, and Queenly. And that’s how it smells too. I love it. It lasts for hours, and stays very strong for most of that time (about 16!), and makes me feel fresh and as if I have roses all around me. Gorgeous perfume!!!

    Rose 4 Reines
    Notes Include:
Grasse Rose Bulgarian Rose Turkish Rose Moroccan Rose
Violet Heliotrope Sandalwood Nutmeg Cedar Wood
The 4 Queens in this scent are 4 roses which make up the heart of the fragrance: A Bulgarian Rose, a Grasse Rose, a Turkish Rose and Moroccan Rose. This is the real attraction. L’Occitane is really more of an after shower bath product type of company so their fragrances are not as long lasting and full bodied as real perfumes. I have the matching shampoo body lotion and body cream. When you put on the body lotion while you shower and the shampoo and then apply the cream plus the perfume every thing is magical and smells beyond amazing. All those roses. You have to be a hardcore rose fan to enjoy this scent. For a while it’s also just the slightest bit woodsy with sandalwood and extract of cedar wood, ever so soft. There’s also 2 additional floral notes of violet and heliotrope which give the fragrance a powder scent. Smells sweet, innocent but mature, feminine and like something for Marie Antoinette to wear. It’s beautiful roses. This was my first rose perfume and my first from L’Occitane. Highly recommended.

Completely forgot about this fragrance until I found a a travel bottle of this in my luggage. I got through an entire full size bottle of this in 2009/10 and on me this is a wet rose fragrance best in spring summer, like smelling a rose after a downpour. The silage and lasting power on me for an EDT is fantastic and full on woody rose, I love cedar so the dry down on this is perfect. Quite disappointed that L’Occitane discontinued this, Rose et Reines is fine but much lighter, sharper and does not last as long. I do not find Rose 4 Reines to be delicate or light or overpowering but quite well balanced and noticiable – “assertive” if such a word can be used to describe a fragrance. I got a roll on bottle for a friend who really liked how it smelled on me. Definately one where people who like roses will notice and give compliments.

I have the solid perfume. To apply in the most fragrant way, warm the tin a bit (carry it in your pocket for a while) until it gets a bit creamy.
Rose, rose, rose, rose. Rose very well done. A hint of violet and wood, but the main star is the rose.
Delightful and not easily replaced. Reminds me of the little bush roses, fragrant in the summer sun.
    A shame it was discontinued.

Beautiful and natural smelling roses fragrance. It has its charm. Love it:)

This is a lovely simple truthful rosé scent which I bought to replace my rose-bomb YSL Paris. Reminds me of a “cabbage rose” we had in our garden as a child. Very clean & fresh but absolutely no lasting power on me – seriously 30mins max! I wear after a shower to bed them all my linen smells like roses when I sleep.

In my skin is a very warm fragrance at the start, that goes a little fresher with time. I can smell the roses and the woody notes, basically. Is feminine, but not as much as i though it would be. The bergamot almost doesn’t exist. You can feel a hint of it, but fades very quickly. It’s a strong woody-floral scent. I think is a safe scent. It does not make a statement. Is not unissex, but not very feminine either, cause is ‘soapy’. It makes me feel clean. I like it 🙂
I would like it more if it was fresher. In my skin, is TOO powdery. I feel kinda overpowered by that much powder. Is very classic, and easy going. You can use it almost anywhere, if you like the rose-powder thing.
    Unfortunately, it’s not for me.
Here in Brazil, you still can find it. On both L’Occitane stores and on their website.

Love this but sadly it has been discontinued and replaced by Roses et Reines, which is nice but much sweeter and not really my cup of tea. UK stores still have some bottles available, though not on display – you have to ask. The Leeds store I got some from said that from June they will only be available through outlet stores until stocks run out.

This perfume is a delight to wear. It is bursting with rose but without the powdery sweetness of Paris which I can’t stand. I like the fruity touches and the darker musk, which makes the scent warm. I feel confident with it on my wrist but too much can be over powering for other people. So only a light spray is needed.

Rose is one of the (many) notes I have a true and ongoing weakness for. I needed something subtle and simple for a work trip away. The roll-on version of Rose 4 Reines fit the bill.
I smell of rose soap – like I’m fresh from the shower (not that I use rose soap though). I smell kind of like an air freshener in my Grandmother’s house – but I don’t mind that.
I’m into memory association. This is different enough froom my other rose perfumes that it doesn’t have any direct memories. Looking forward to making new memories with this on my next adventure.

This is a big hit at L’Occitane en Provence, and it is easy to see why. It is soft and delicate and it gives you a feel of a more expensive perfume. That perfume is Paris Yves St. Laurent, and my mother wears that one all the time. Rose, as I like to call it, has a more dramatic scent that doesn’t have to be overpowering. This is a great scent for all occasions – for work, for dates out, and for party. Rose is both friendly and formal, and you will not be disappointed. This is a winner.

Soft and lingering: a beautiful, romantic rose. Just when I think the scent is gone, I get another delicate waft.
I don’t often buy perfume – my budget doesn’t allow more than buying minis and samples to try out, but this one I bought. It is a fresh, feminine and totally non-offensive fragrance. Working with Japanese people every day I have to be careful what I wear (like me, they can’t stand loud, in-your-face people and smells), but ROSE 4 REINES feels completely suitable for any situation.

I absolutely adore this fragrance. I have the soap, the hand cream, and I really want the fragrance. It’s just lovely and romantic. That’s the best way to describe it.
It really throws me back in time to my childhood. With my grandmother and I in the backyard picking fresh roses with moisture droplets still on them. And I’d put them up to my nose and smell them. Feeling the cold droplets touch my face.
That’s what this fragrance is like. Pure, fresh, roses. I know it lists other notes, but all I smell is the rose. Romantic, lovely, blissful roses.

this is one of the only perfumes i have used that lasts through the heat and sweat of an Indian summer.
At the end of the day I still get gentle whiffs of the rose
A very elegant and sophisticated fragrance with good sillage

  19. :

Smells the closest to a rose, in my opinion, that has some ‘soap’ added to it, enhancing the feeling of cleanliness. Very feminine. It is less sweet than some of the newer rose lines that L`Occitane has launched (recently in Singapore we have Rose des Champs and Rose Aurore, with Rose Aurore smelling sweet to me- I was torn between this and des Champs, but this won over in the end as there was something in the dry down of des Champs that didn’t agree with me).
It is work-safe, no one I’ve encountered seems averse to it. It is a ‘classic’ fresh scent when I compare it to Stella McCartney’s Stella which smells edgier.
Longevity- 9am to 5pm (I’m sniffing myself now at 5pm to ascertain that). Lasts longer than Verte and Cherry Blossom from the same brand.
Sillage- Moderate to close. Won’t choke anyone in the lift on your exit and their entry.

Was at L’Occitane trying to pick out a suitable rose scent. Rose 4 Reines is a “deep red rose” type of fragrance. Old-fashioned romantic beauty.
But my heart was captured by its Pivoine EDT and Rose Aurore EF…
I don’t get how people say this lasts long…! Is it just my skin issue? Over here rose4reines is such a soft scent that lasts barely 3 hours on my skin. 🙁 my rose cravings are not satisfied, I tell ye.

I loveee the smell, soft and fresh. I don’t know if it contain citrus but to me it’s a little citrusy. It smells just like the roses des 4 reines hand lotion. In fact, i bought the perfume after smelling the lotion..I feel so romantic wearing this as i have always love rose fragrance.
    price : quite affordable
I am thinking of getting another rose perfume from L’occitane. Can anyone help me with which rose fragrance smell the best?

  22. :

    4 out of 5

For a l’Occitane, it has a lot of staying power, about 4 hours in a hot day. But if you want a real rosebomb, associate the perfume with the body lotion. WOW ! Almost 24 hours and a monster sillage ! For anyone who loves roses (like me) simply delicious. It’s fresh, it’s pure, I love it.

  23. :

    3 out of 5

I find 4 Reines really beautiful.
Soft and uncomplicated, starts with a burst of juicy blackcurrant and then you get a fresh bouquet spring roses for a few hours.
The drydown is a little creamier but still rosey.
Reminds me of Rose Essentielle (rose and blackberries) while here we have rose and blackcurrant.
I find Rose Essentielle a bit more interesting – I think the powdery violets make the perfume more nuanced – it’s a shame I don’t get the violets in 4 reines – but the silage and longevity are disappointing. For the pricetag I’d rather get the L’occitane for now.
I also like the pretty yet minimal retro clear glass bottle with light pink juice.
Very fresh, springy, happy and romantic.

I adore this fragrance. I had it in the solid form and it lasted for a long time with regular use. It is a fruity rose—simple, divine, and feminine. I remember getting lots of compliments while wearing it.
    I will repurchase.

The velvet hand cream really is a “lipstick rose”, which smells and feels expensive. At first, I didn’t like it because I tried the body milk at Loccitane, and the body milk doesn’t smell like anything to me…the velvet hand cream, on the other hand, smells strongly of real roses at first (and berries), and then dries down to a comforting, warm rose. Buy the hand cream (I don’t smell anything in the body milk…) 🙂

So true rose. So sad it does not last longer. But it gives really nice smell of rose

Got given this scent for Christmas. It’s a sophisticated take on a traditional rosewater perfume with some fruity notes at the start. The rose is the main focus obviously so avoid it if that isn’t your thing. It still remains fresh and feminine and isn’t too overpowering , some rose scents have an old potpourri smell that can seem a little ageing.

  28. :

    3 out of 5

This is the epitome of a true rose perfume.
In short, Rose 4 Reines is timeless. There are many rose perfumes out there but Rose 4 Reines is definitely a classic. Plain pure roses in a bottle.
Nothing added (unlike a whole lot of rose perfumes out there…), nothing removed, just roses.
    Comforting, beautiful and alluring.

I have never thought of buying these kinds of non branded perfumes as I am a very big fan of Fine Perfumery. Most of my perfumes ( which were not gifts) were from Dior !
I bumped into this smell while I was looking for a mood boosting yet decent perfume to wear to work !Today they have sprayed it on my skin & I can’t stop re-smelling it.
Iam not a big rose fan, but this has something to it.
Natural Rosy fresh smell & has the soft citrus part which all my perfumes should include.
How long lasting this can be?

So feminine and soft! I love the mix of roses and green herbs, with a touch of something powdery sweet. I picked up a full bottle at a discount shop unsniffed because I love roses, and although most rose perfumes do not sit well on my skin since many are too harsh or synthetic, this smells soft and natural. It is like smelling a delicate fresh bouquet of red and pink roses on their long elegant stems. I love this at bed time, and unlike some of my other rose fragrances, this perfume smells as good on me as it does my sheets 🙂

    Absolutely adore mellyhelly’s review.
I also realized that perfume without rose never feels complete to me and I do like the rose in different incarnations, lipsticky, deep and honied dirty, light dry rose powder combined with peony or lily of the valley, rose this and rose that, rose in the notes makes things more forgivable and less forgettable for me.
And yes I have 15 different antique rose varieties, including Rose de Reines, growing in my garden, in addition to 22 bushes of peonies, 5 kinds of French lilac, 3 types of the lily of the valley.
Apologize for being overly sentimental here but Rose has a very special place in my heart.
And I know firsthand the fresh on the bush (without sprays, pesticides and herbicides and synthetic fertilizers)smell of this rose.
You have no idea what a wonderful job L’Occitane does allowing us, city dwellers, enjoy genuine rose and other flowers.
I have just started to explore L’Occitane and
Rose 4 reines creme was my 1st purchase. First it does seem incredibly fresh and just pure rose on freshly showered skin, smell is close to the skin. Then I realized there is a trail, just as another reviewer noted, beautiful lightest trail in the room that follwed me. So, this fragrance is not so simple at all. It’s simplicity is exquisite. And even if I do not smell it on myself I know the aura sarrounds me, positive pleasing healthy aura.
In fact,I have all L’Occitane fragrances on my wish list now. And I do have both 1.6 oz and 2.5 oz Chloe by Chloe new EDP which is the closest to Rose 4 Reines fragrance I know of but is not as casual and a little bit more demanding of me.
It’s interesting, how most L’ooccitane fragrances, including this one and “Verveine”, seemingly the most clean fragrance, have just a little bit of “dirt” in them, cat peesh, something that makes them more Guerlainish “old fashioned” and more “complex”. Does it come from the amber or black current or cinnamon,
    I do not know.

my god, this fragrance is rose bomb. Am hughe rose fragrance lover, but this fragrance is the best one. I bought it because Bolgarian rose. Even if i dont like L Occitane at all, this scent is what I love. Pure, fresh, clean, inocent but feminine roses on my body. Simpl but it works, even if am huge lover of complexe scents.

The more I smell this perfume the more I like it. The more I wear it the more I feel feminine, clean and sociable. I don’t know if the mood it creates on me affects other, but I noticed that people are generally calmer when I’m around wearing this.
Please, let me explain why I feel that Rose 4 Reines is my perfect fit or… just skip the long review! LOL
I love complex, sophisticated, luxury and opulent perfumes: Samsara, Shalimar & Parfum Initial, Nahema, Mitsouko, Coco, original Poison, Organza, Aoud Queen Rose, Aoud Rose Damascus, By Kilyan Beyond Love, Ambre Extreme and the niche bombs … got the idea? LOL
Those are love and extasy for me, but after years of wearing them in small doses I had to come to a point when I realised that they are not always suitable for my everyday life and not finely understood among the crowd and they are not “friendly”.
Most people I have around at work in my run-of-the-mill employee job are younger than me (as a mere matter of age), they try hard to be fashionable and accepted in the group. They use clothes, makeup, shoes, even nail polish and some perfume to be noticed and feel part of the crowd at the same time. Seen from my sociological point of view this seems to me like animal behaviour: adopting a certain style and smell to reckon each other. And there is hierarchy, too.
No need to say I smell a lot of Candy Prada, Coco Mademoiselle, Hypnotic Poison, Light Blue, Narciso Rodriguez and a pletora of candy fruity baskets, Light This and Light That. I mean, if you need to go fresh and light 4711 is a good and elegant option. No way. Better to put some fake berries on. I’m only happy that people are perhaps too conscious about their money to spray perfume more liberally. There is nothing so wrong about popular scents, some are nice. I’ve been wearing NR EdT in the black bottle when no one knew who NR is, at least here. I stopped wearing it when I met 1 woman every 4 wearing my same perfume and feeling sooo fashionable.
As well as they want pleasure, people also need secureness.
So I decided that I wanted a highly wearable, pleasant, feminine yet simple and meaningful and possibly inexpensive scent! Eau des 4 reines came to mind.
To be honest my favourite was Rose Nuit de Mai: an easy wonder made of rose and wood with just a hint of berry. Great, subtle and longlasting, perfectly balance between floral and wood.
They discontinued it. Apparently all perfumes with a good sandalwood have been discontinued or changed in formula. And I love sandalwood.
When I went to the shop I was a bit confused. No Nuit de Mai anymore and no Eau des 4 Reines anymore, let alone the longtime discontinued Eau de Parfum (together with Eau des 7 Fleurs and first Neroli). Now we have Rose 4 Reines EdT. Well, ok. I sprayed and noticed that it’s basically Eau des 4 Reunes with some little change. Liked on the spot, 35 euro for 75ml is a good deal. After a while, around 30 minutes and more I smelled a great whift of multi-faceted perfume, rose for sure with other notes. I thought that it was Bvlgari Rose essentiel on my other arm, but… no! It was Rose 4 Reines! Big value for my money.I love the way it moves with me, around me and maybe not too projecting.
It’s longlasting and unfolding on my skin. After about 6 hours I still smell it on my wrist with just a hint of rose and beautiful drydown smoothly woodsy and only vaguely vanillic/powdery.
Calm, feminine, vaguely sensual in its angel-like aura and elegant in its simplicity.
It’s a type of scent that grows on you. If you like it on the spot gives it some time to unfold and it will impress you.
Not for bitter/dry scents lovers, but never a candy-candy marshmallow fruit lollipop either.
    I love it!
It makes me feel confortable during warmer days in autumn when I especially need rose in my life. I wear Idylle and Stella on colder days while keeping the orange blossom divinely uplifting with Fragonard Fleur d’Oranger (my summer perfume) at some moments. It’s like a soft shift, no need to be shocked. Season will shock my body anyway with my ailments, but these perfumes keep me conforted and protected. From a social point of view I can enjoy a fragrance that makes me feel fine for a good price, without being too extravagant or weird-perceived neither mass-fashionable.
Rose 4 Reines is definetely a winner!
EDIT: the bath&shower gel is also a great treat in a warm bathtub!

This scent is so amazing the girls at L`Occitane managed to convince me to try this today. The girl when I went in asked me what kind of scents I usually like and I told her florals or fruity florals then she continues with another question and asked If I have any rose scents.I told her I have two other scent that have rose in them one is my Chole Intense and the other is my Bvlgari Rose Essentielle EDT. Rose 4 Reines smells so much more amazing to me, than both of the scents I already own, but they still have their uses. This is a delicate linear rose scent, ever since I tried it on I haven’t been able to stop smelling my arm. Its a really nice young but at the same time mature rose, also I don’t think this is too overpowering. I think I have found a new all year around favorite. Once its completely dried down an fading away you can actually also notice the wood notes, which is nice. It is a realistic rose to my nose its super lovely. This is just a great overall girly, soft, comfy, and romantic scent. I got the EDT and the body lotion so that I can layer it together. Because I spent a certain amount they also included the body wash for free, so I have the whole set for the fragrance which I’m really excited to have in my collection.

I am really enjoying this fragrance, and I’m wearing it more often than I thought I would. It’s really cozy to me. Comfy, cozy, sweet and fresh. I feel like I’m wearing a beautifully scented body cream…it doesn’t dry down to a harsh “perfumey” base. It stays rosy, but goes gently creamy and sweet as it dries down. Not a vanilla/gourmand sweet, but a delicious, mellow, floral sweet. The notes don’t show this, but I know I smell heliotrope in the base. A hint of creamy sandalwood, probably, and heliotrope.
Fresh, soft, slightly candied rose petals. I love it. 🙂

Rose 4 Reines Eau de toilette has that fresh and crispy rose scent you sometimes want to be pampered with. While it’s quite linear it does have a certain depth. As it heats up on your skin, a delicate honey smell appears, the kind you often only get when smelling a real rose. Nothing cheap about it, on the contrary. It is a comforting scent which I associate with quiet (romantic?) evenings on the couch. Projection is fair given this type of fragrance, I sprayed 4 times and anyone within 2-3 feet noticed it within the first 3 hours. Leaves no real trail behind but Rose 4 Reines does last for hours on end, slowly dissolving in the air and loosing its power till you can only pick it up ever so lightly on your skin. But by then, the next morning has arrived..

  42. :

I agree, this smells like a nature rose, nothing more and nothing less. Very good for layering, although I prefer La Rose de Rosine and Ecume de Rose by Rosine just a little bit more for layering. Nevertheless, L’Occitane 4 reines is a nice rose-perfume for those occasions that a woman (or a man) just wants to smell like a rose. Wonderful bedtime scent also, to spray on cushion and sheet, for sweet dreams.

A nice, fresh rose scent. Nothing spectacular, but far from the worst of rose soliflores. Its main drawback is that it is indistinguishable from rose water, there is no evolution of scent and no discernible base notes. On the upside it had excellent staying power on my skin.

  46. :

Just plain rose. And just plain wonderful! It does not have that unpleasant artificial quality that plain rose perfumes can have — it is like smelling an actual rose. My husband rarely notices perfume and always compliments me on this one.
This perfume (the solid version) has also been my first experiment with layering! (I just tried it without thinking: I put this solid perfume behind ears and on wrists, then spray chest very lightly with Chanel No. 5 — result is unique, and unexpectedly nice! It changes the experience of both). Since this is such a pure and simple fragrance, I think layering can work, if you’re interested in that.
But definitely it’s at its most beautiful alone, the simplicity is so wonderful

I was very impressed by this rose scent. It settles beautifully and remains fresh for hours. None of the old antique dried rose about it, rather it is a floating rose garden with you at its centre, a waterfall of fresh pink and red rose petals. I have even known men to adore this fragrance. The secret, I am told, is the Moroccan rose oil used as its base. My absolute favourite rose fragrance!

  49. :

    5 out of 5

I wear it in my free time when I dress down and unwind at home. The fragrance
is beautifying those moments. It is unobtrusive, does not project: it just trails behind me a little bit as I move around the rooms. It is a calm rose scent,
dewy and earthy, natural. On my skin
there seems to be a hint of basil, too.
I quite happily keep a solid close at hand
and re-apply every now and then.

  50. :

    5 out of 5

I feel like a princess when I wear this.
Rose 4 Reines is a floral fragrance full of femininity and romance. It is not so youthful to be a teen scent nor is it especially sensual or womanly.
Sometimes, sticking with something simple isn’t so bad after all.

  51. :

    Delicate and pure tea roses.
The SA told me that its notes include four different roses, and it does seem to have a smell of some different roses — a bouquet. If you’re looking for a day fragrance based on the scent of roses, fresh, delicate, and authentic, look no more (unless you’re less lucky then I am and it does something different on your skin). But if you are looking for a rose with more warmth to it, if you are looking for an exciting rose based perfume to wear in the evening, then keep looking.

  52. :

The delicate freshness of a bouquet of roses, the velvety softness of petals kissed with dew.
Delicate and fresh, like real roses. It is light but it smells true rose.
