Description

Directly connected to Opus 1144 ‘ s extrait, Rosa Nigra talk about the scented stone of gothic buildings.

At the base we find the most part of Opus 1144 harmonic structures : Cashmere Wood, Amber, Vanilla, Musks, Sandal Wood that gives us well-being feelings and allow to reach our deepest thoughts, conveying spirit opening, warmth and comprehension. Sandal is the old religious and ceremonial culture plant of many different civilizations.

Posa Nigra is the real mystic harmony between the balsamic sweetness of flowers and the intensity of fruited woods. Iris shades are in this perfume’s heart.

The Pyramid get thinner and shows at its top a luminescent fantasy of Freesia, with a mild ritual scent and magic spiritual powers. We also perceive peach notes, old Oriental symbol of immortality, celebrated by painters poets and musicians. The Peach note at the olfactory pyramid’s top has a further symbolic value because of its many transcendent meanings. In Japan Peach is venerated as a protector against malefic forces. Peach also symbolizes renovation, rebirth, beauty, youth and purity. In Egypt Peach ‘s leaf is also symbol of silence. For the Buddhism, the peach is one of the three blessed fruits. For the Taoism the peach is the Life Tree. Together with the Phoenix, Peach is the Queen of Heaven‘s emblem. For the Christianity, Peach is redemption’s fruit, it often appears in Virgin and Child paintings.

The fruit’s leaves tied to the petiole symbolizes the joyful combination of heart and speech virtues.

The Rosa Nigra’s top has Absinthe‘s notes, it is food for Art and artists. Absinthe is also called Green Fairy, in harmonious contrast with the flamboyant sweetness of all the ingredients. Absinthe hides and seeks, its mystery is able to accord in a spiritual way the Rosa Nigra‘s olfactory architectures.

At first, Rosa Nigra seems easy to read, on the contrary, with eyes closed it releases its whole complexity.

Rosa Nigra was launched in 2015.

classic example of how a composition of notes can create an odor. here all the notes give a smell of an excellent rose.

Personally,it doesn’t impress me much. It’s like a well issue made without passion, without any glimpse of light and grace.A rose too herbaceous and too common, despite the large operation of story-telling about it.

Beautiful bitter fruit liqueur. Strong and distinct, sits very close to the skin.

At first, I didn’t like it because it smelled like rose water to my nose. I love rose water but I don’t like my perfume to smell that way. Then, I reviewed the notes and remembered that there is no rose in this fragrance! Amazing!
It is a real work of art imo. I am interested in Rosa Nigra at the moment! And it is not nigra at all.

Tired it today and there’s nothing dark here
It reminds me Lalique rose royal minus fruity tartness of apricot
It’s mostly about a peachy rose which developes to a slightly powdery Musky rose grounded by subtle woody notes
It’s my first test and for now I can’t add much, just that on my skin it’s not but not dark or heavy

the image of a wet, slightly bitter rose; the powder from an ancient marble statue surrounded by incense; swirls of white smoke and the idea of reverence. that is what i get from this… and, in my personal opinion, it is glorious.
i’ve already purchased rosa nigra upon sampling for a whole day, and shall probably buy opus 1144 somewhere down the line, perhaps when the warmer weather begins to cease. (which, in the uk, probably won’t be too long…)
rosa nigra is indeed like a lung-full of crisp, dew-filled, morning air; a deep breath. it has a transparency and lightness to it that is almost ephemeral, yet at the same time its base notes keep it well grounded, but still soft. opening with a clear-as-glass (without being sharp) herbal-anisic fruity accord, made up i assume from the juicy, aqueous peach and a restrained anise, counterbalanced by peppery freesia and ever-so-slight bitter artemesia, it does indeed evoke the smell of a rose, or at least the concept of one. it is smoothly floral, natural and, what matters most, absolutely beautiful smelling. the nature of the scent perfectly matches the substance; delicate, ghostly and indeed, sacred. there is an air of reverence about it, a clear-minded and calm serenity, that just keeps me mesmerized.
as it develops on the skin, deeper notes begin to emerge, in particular a swirl of powder and dust, settling on sandal and cashmere woods, with a strong backbone of vanilla. generally i dislike vanilla in perfumes, the sweetness puts me off entirely. however, here, it is so refined, almost ancient smelling in a way; carved, dusty marble that has been infused with the sweet smell of hundreds of years of incense-burning. there is a ‘smoke’ quality to this, but unlike any smoke i’ve known; a ‘white’ smoke, that could easily be me misinterpreting the wood and musk notes that begin appearing in the latter drydown, however to me that is the image i get. always there but never overwhelming. a gentle presence; the dust in a beam of light that casts a solemn, yet comforting shadow.
in terms of performance parameters, it is a soft parfum, though it constantly remarks its presence in a calm and meditative manner. it will stay with you for the day, or the night; consolation for the mind. for me, this is absolute pleasure.

Rosa Nigra, despite its name, is defintely the bright side of Unum. It’s a transparent fruity woody concoction that’s able to feel aloof and affable at the same time and it’s pervaded by a sort of detached sophistication that reaches martial levels. Almost snob and yet, somehow, nice and gracious at that. Rose is more of a suggestion than an actual note but said suggestion is present throughout the fragrance’s evolution and it’s probably achieved via how they rendered the fruity notes. From the crystal clear and perfectly executed peach-driven opening to the warmer and slightly powdery sandalwood drydown. The peach and the florals perfectly melts together and give birth to a classic accord that, in this context, brings to mind of an hypothetical love-child between Lyric Man and…Samsara? A fragrance for a mature youth which is light-hearted but never superficial, happy but with a darker and more meditative side as well. Just like Opus 1114, Rosa Nigra has a classicism inherent to it that immediately brings to mind of traditional french perfumery but there’s also a certain minimalism that speaks about the orient. It’s a tight composition that leaves nothing to the case. Calculated and calm, remarkably present but never intrusive. It’s a reassuring familiar voice, it’s like listening to your own breath, it’s the outdoors on a chilly and sunny morning while you breathe at full lungs capacity.
    Very good.
