Description

In August 2013, we had the pleasure of testing the new fragrance of the Roberto Cavalli collection which builds on the edition Roberto Cavalli EDP from 2012, the beautiful Roberto Cavalli Oud Edition from 2013, as well as the turquoise blue Cavalli Acqua from 2013. The new flacon is colored in trendy black with gold color embellishments ad is filled with scent signed by the perfumer of Roberto Cavalli Eau de Parfum—Louise Turner. The fragrance was created in collaboration with Coty and is named CAVALLI NERO ASSOLUTO.

The new version offered by Cavalli is perfect for evening and announced as very elegant and sophisticated. The composition is based on floral and woody notes warmed by the strength of vanilla. The perfume opens with floral accords of orchid, warmed in the heart by black vanilla, supported by a strong woody notes of ebony in the base.

Cavalli Nero Assoluto will be advertised by Elisa Sednaoui who appeared in advertisements for the previous fragrance, and photos of the campaign were shot by Steven Klein. The fragrance is available as a 30, 50 and 75 ml EDP.

There is something oddly alluring about Robert Cavalli’s Nero Assoluto. I find it very sensual and inviting on my skin, and I feel a similar way about Robert Cavalli Eau de Parfum which I love and adore.
This fragrance gives me the false impression that it features amber and other bold resinous accords. It wears quite rich and sultry on my skin, so I was surprised to find no such notes in the official scent pyramid.
The most dominant accords to my nose include bourbon vanilla, orchid and sandalwood. Although you could technically wear this fragrance all year round, I personally prefer it in the colder months and consider it more of an evening scent than a day-time scent.
I can’t for the life of me understand why Roberto Cavalli scents are so inexpensive. In terms of value for money, they are almost too good to be true. Although Nero Assoluto is no heavy-hitter on the skin, the longevity of this fragrance is superb, lasting almost an entire day on my skin. I will be looking at acquiring a bottle of this stunning fragrance in due time.
Since discovering this release, I have been inspired to revisit the Roberto Cavalli range and explore more of what they have to offer.

I own a full 2.5 oz bottle and i really like this fragrance. It is a warm scent which is not sweet at all. Im gonna sound weird but this opens up with a scent of “pencil shavings” which i think is fun in a unique way. It dries down woody and the perfume is really dark, sexy and seductive. It lasts really long since i can smell it even after i wash my clothes.

At first this started out with a gentle sweet woody-ness, then dried down to a sweet, girly perfume. Later i realized it reminded me not so young girl sweet, but more like a sweet, well dressed woman fragrance. A bit too sweet for me, though.

Dark & decadent, woody spicy vanilla with a boozy orchid note in the beginning.❤️
I love wearing it in autumn or whenever it’s colder because I find it to be quite a warm sweet powdery scent.

This I call ” Sex in a bottle” ! At the beginning is fresh ,but wait for a while. Bang! After this freshness is hidden something really sexy. Some of the reviews said is a bit masculine and I agree. Anyway, I love it! It’s close to the skin, but I can smell it all day.

I agree, a delicious black perfume but doesn’t hold.

This smells unique. Vanilla, woody. I get a lot of orchid in the beginning but it goes away fast. Actually, the whole perfume goes away fast. After about an hour its just a skin scent. After 2 hours its gone. Its very disappointing. Ill finish out the bottle, maybe. I hate perfumes that dont even last 4 hours. I wont rebuy this.

Never owned or even experienced a Cavalli fragrance before. This one is my first, blind buy based on the bargain price and the good reviews here.
Smooth, slightly boozy opening. Sexy in a dark kind of way, a great fragrance for winter. Good sillage and longevity. Quite subtle and elegant, surprisingly so, coming from a designer who isn’t renowned for subtlety. Smoke, vanilla and booze, what more could you ask for?!

Feminine, sexy, sweet, easily likeable, just the right amount of intensity/body/presence, sillage and longevity.
I would default recommend this to sweet floral oriental lovers.

  10. :

    This is interesting.
The opening is bright yet sleek and almost liquid floral (orchid). But after only a couple of minutes it seems to shift into a fairly unisex spicy, slightly woodsy vanilla. I’m trying to remember what it reminds me of, because it does remind me of at least one other male or unisex perfume. I don’t think this is necessarily a female perfume by any means, as it would suit a man (like me!) very well after the first few minutes.
However, I find the projection and longevity to be average to below average, which is a shame. I already don’t have the most sensitive nose so any perfume that isn’t strong tends to be something I only wear for others – which takes some of the fun out of it. For that reason, I only like and don’t love it, as I have to smell my skin or clothes up close to smell anything after the first couple of minutes.
TL;DR: Spicy and woodsy vanilla with a strong floral opening, unisex, soft, doesn’t last that long. Nevertheless, occasion is probably formal or romantic as it’s quite a sophisticated and sexy fragrance.

When I very first put this on, I was reminded of the 80s “in a good way”.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this agrees with my chemistry very much. It’s not a bad scent, but it doesn’t suit me very much. A powerhouse is great, but not when it clashes with someone’s chemistry.
Tried this on as a colleague wears this and it smells amazing on her.
I’m a bit surprised as most of the notes here work in some way, shape or form on me. Never worn anything with ebony before, so now to try finding more ebony scents to see if it’s that which my skin dislikes!
I don’t believe I get any specific notes, though… just a generically loud and heavy smell. On me, it smells like the sort of thing I could imagine someone like Donatella Versace wearing.
2-3 hours later and it’s beginning to annoy/overwhelm me. Mum was overwheled pretty much right from when I came in (About 1 hour or so after wearing).

Okay, I think I was too fast on my preview review and I have to take back a few things. I’ve decided I will not edit the old one, but just write a new review, because maybe there is someone as impulsive as I am and will find the other one calming.
First of all, I still find this fragrance divine, now even more. I’ve noticed that I really have to develop a relationship with my perfumes. I’ve fallen in love with it, totally. This scent is something you don’t even know you were searching for. The best orchid I have ver tried.
I have to take back the complaints about longevity and sillage. Actually, for my nose it still fades quite quickly, but I have to say that it keeps coming back through the day. And when it comes back, I feel blessed. Plus, comparing to lots of other perfumes that really vanish, Nero is not that bad at all.
But, aside from this, people around me keep commenting and complimenting it after hours I’ve sprayed it on. My make up artist at the theatre, for example, almost fainted because she loved it so much. I was really surprised and said I don’t even smell it anymore, and she said “yes, these perfumes are the best. this is only you, because you are wearing it. don’t worry, it smells gorgeous.” Then, of course, I got worried I will overspray it, because I don’t want people around me to choke on my perfume. 🙂
The other thing is that I was repulsed by Cavalli design and I really haven’t tried them till now because I hate the bottles that much. But, as we already know, don’t judge a book by its cover. I have to say, I don’t hate it anymore, at least Nero Assoluto. And yes, it feels kind of nice to hold that round bottle in your hand.
So, to sum it up, I had to give it a chance and it convinced me. We are working better and better together, it is really special, sexy and rich.
    Velvet, no doubts.

  13. :

Dark, dirty, dreamy, creamy, raw sex. Wear if you dare…

  14. :

    Velvet.
You should know I am obsessed with wild orchid and orchid in general. But have noticed that not a lot of perfumes have this note in it. Well, not in a way you would really notice it. But this one has. And not just that, this baby is woody orchid, which is genial.
It is oriental, yes, it is almost a little bit asian. But, for me, it has something slavic, maybe even russian as well. I don’t know why. I think slavic girls often wear that kind of perfumes.
Oh, I have to mention, Cavalli bottles and boxes are horrible if you ask me, maybe except Florence, they are purely ugly for my taste and I have never tried them just because of that. This animal pattern really turns me off, it reminds me of cheap balkan/slavic/italian underground drugstore perfumes which smell horrible.
And Nero Assoluto wants to have a hint of this at the first moment. But, thank god, this fades away instantly.
After about half an hour, this perfume becomes divine. People around me said they smell flowers, but I don’t care about them, all I can smell is woody, maybe also incense with very well blended soft/creamy/smooth orchid. I don’t even smell vanilla (which means yay!), I think it’s there just to butter up the orchid. Magnifique. This is the kind of scent I like and I could wear it forever.
But, oh well, oh, I could of course NOT do it, because Nero Assoluto, just like most of every other perfumes, has the worst longevity and sillage on me. Someone said it lasts 12 hours on her. Lucky you. I am happy I got it 70% off, but generally I am really pissed and disappointed with the fact that most of the perfume designers cannot raise a perfume that would last. This doesn’t mean that it has to be aggressive, I completely support gentle and fresh perfumes, but I don’t want them to just vanish after two hours.
Otherwise, for me this fragrance is something special, it is dark, sexy, very scorpio-like, just like someone wrote, it is also ghosty but rich and warm. It could be really splendid, if it lasted.

I like it, but it wasn’t what I expected. It is much fruitier (not necessarily citrus) and less woody than I expected.

  16. :

This is dark, smokey, rich, powdery and sweet. It could be a Tom Ford fragrance. If you like those, you will probably like this one.
This one isn’t really unique, but it is well crafted.
It has a decadent feel to it and even though it smells heavy, it doesn’t smell masculine.
It is a bit agressive but seductive at the same time.
I think this is something scorpio women will like.

Impressive perfume. Roberto cavalli always pumps out some great fragrances, and this is no exception. I was afraid Nero would be bone dry because of all the reviews saying its very woody. It is woody, but mostly I get a boozy, fruity, and sexy “noir” vanilla.
This has slight vince camuto vibes. I adore that stuff, so thats good news for me! The difference comes in with its lack of a leather note. Nero also feels way more amped up and potent. Stronger, deeper, a little richer, a little sweeter.

  18. :

    5 out of 5

I would say this is “moderate sweet”….woody ???…not in the real sense of “woody” to my nose. At the top, I get orchid/vanilla fore sure. WAAAY….underneath the “woodiness” is hiding. However,I DO like this fragrance alot !! Not very dark or “nero” to my nose…lol. The bottle is really nice, and decent sprayer and sturdy cap fit. I bought a 1 oz spray…wish I had bought the larger size…sigh…because…the sillage is very moderate to me. Projection is lighter and “easy”…not strong or cloying at all. I am now anxious to try other Cavalli scents…(Tiger Oud) looks good !!

  19. :

    3 out of 5

I don’t find this fragrance necessarily a woody fragrance, but somehow a complicated deep scent, elegant and mysterious, classy and sophisticated.
I wish it has stronger sillage,, It doesn’t last more than 2 or 3 hours!
    Edit 24/4/2018:
Experiencing this fragrance more and more I have to say I grade it under fruity/ grapes fragrances, similar to sì intense by Giorgio Armani, longevity is moderate to good but sillage definitely is moderate max!!

  20. :

Wonderful. I like everything in this perfume. A deep vanilla aroma that blends into woody notes. A wonderful perfume for the autumn-winter period.

  21. :

Holy sweetness, Batman! Yeah, much sweeter than I expected. Nero Assoluto is all about the orchid and vanilla on me, and doesn’t go particularly woody with my chemistry, though I do detect plenty of deep, dark wood on the sprayer nozzle. I wish that came out during wear on me. It also reminds me a lot of the original Roberto Cavalli EDP. Definitely don’t overspray with this one… it’s pretty dense and I think it would totally overwhelm. Points for the rich and velvety vibe!

  22. :

    5 out of 5

This is absolutely a gorgeous fragrance. It has a incense type of smell to me even though no incense is in the notes. I think it is everything blending together so well to give it that scense. This is unisex in my opinion, I’m a man and on my first wearing ppl acknowledge it and loved it. So guys, go for it you won’t be disappointed.

  23. :

I am not fan of oriental flower perfumes. I can’t stand anything too sweet and I could never wear for example CK Euphoria, Ange ou demon or Hypnotic poison cuz I got sick but this one suprised me in good way. And I actually liked it and I am wearing it. It is sweet but classy moderate sweet. Silage and longevity are good and I apply it in moderation. I am truly enjoying in scent.

  24. :

    3 out of 5

I do find this to be a darker vanilla, with a unisex vibe. It somewhat reminds me of TM Tainted Love but replace the creamy sandal with deeper darker woods notes. It might be my imagination but I often get a “dark” vibe from ebony woods notes, I absolutely adore woody scents so this one is an instant love. The silage is decent and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for longevity.

  25. :

    5 out of 5

On my skin the woody notes really dominate and it’s kind of dryish. It’s not as darkly sweet or syrupy as I thought. It’s a like for me. I prefer the richer, balsamic, Cavalli Essenza to this one.

  26. :

I thought the name meant neroli absolute, but it means pure black in Italian according to google translate. It is a smooth orchid scent, powdery and sensual. The sillage is moderate to heavy on me. I thought it was a soft scent until my dad walks into the room, about 6 ft from me and said, “I can smell you from all the way here!”
Update: I have a rash on the forearm where I applied it now :'( I’ll try it on my legs, which are less sensitive than my arms. If it gives me a rash, this baby will just have to go.

  27. :

I really love this one. It’s sort of in the same vein as Black Orchid except it’s lighter and smoother. They don’t smell alike, just give off the same vibe. I’ve always liked Black Orchid but I love this one a lot more! However, it tends to be kind of weak on me and doesn’t last very long 🙁 So what I’ve found that works is to layer this with Al Rehab Al Sharquiah attar (which is like $25 or so on eBay) and the result is that it’s much deeper and even sexier and lasts longer too. The combo is a deep, rich, and ultra sexy woody scent that is sweetened by vanilla, soft fruity notes, and exotic flowers. It makes for a very seductive evening scent 🙂

What a beauty! Dark dark vanilla and orchid, with ebony and even a little spice. One of the most seductive, sexy and mysterious fragrances I have ever tried. Night time, heavy and intense. Even erotic. Love it!
Plus a very sophisticated and glamorous bottle. Good price.
Last good half day and silage is really well. I have gotten so so many compliments for this. Mostly among men.
    Love!

I love Nero Assoluto. It’s mysterious, velvety, sexy, alluring. Someone commented below that this is sex in a bottle, and I couldn’t agree more. The ebony brings something different, carnal, to the vanilla, citruses and orchid. It is quite strong, so a little goes a long way and it lasts over 10 hours on my skin. Perfect for a date on a cold winter night!

  31. :

    5 out of 5

Nero Assoluto (meaning absolute black in English), has a name that doesn’t quite fit to this fragrance. I would have expected a way darker perfume just based on the name alone. It is very lovely, dark just right after the initial spray, and then it settles into a smooth, very pleasant fragrance. Almost too shy and too close to the skin, but outstandingly beautiful and velvety. Longevity is not that grand, but I don’t mind, because this is really a wonderful fragrance with way more sweetness than darkness, very harmonious and so worth every penny I paid for it. I like it a lot.

Last time I tried it and wrote a review for it which was almost two years ago.finally I ordered a bottle and I feel it smells totally different with what I remember
Now that I have Cavalli edp too,I can see huge similarities in these two(and I dislike cavalli EDP )First time I tried it from my own bottle I thought that this is a love child of Cavalli and Tom Ford noir pour femme.I’m not sure why that one came to my mind but the other day I wear Nero assoluto I couldn’t see that noir pour femme vibe any more
So RCNA opens sharp, sweet, bright and juicy with citrus notes which are more fruity than citrus for me, like a mixture of mango and a little apricot, maybe also passion fruit(about 80℅ similar to cavalli EDP in it’s first hours) after about ten minutes vanilla becomes stronger and smoothens sharp edges of fruits.i n this stage it smells like a creamy fruity vanilla with a hint of florals(not orchid, looks like passion flower and osmanthus),although I love vanilla and I love sweet scents I don’t care for this fruity vanilla cream but I don’t dislike it as much as initial phase(similar to cavalli edp’s drydown which happens after hours)
Drydown(about an hour after application)is my favorite part.fruity notes fade and scent becomes warmer and less sweet.vanilla is strongest note but not a sweet, gourmsndish cake like or ice creamy vanilla.vanilla is non-sweet and powdery.an adult form of vanilla which is grounded by woody notes, woods are balmy, warm and a tad smokey.they make RCNA even less sweet, warmer and darker(darker than opening but still not a real dark scent).at this stage I’m able to pick up a hint of orchid which just adds a touch of feminity.drydown is soothing, warm and cozy, simple but also adult.it’s far from seductive and heavy vampy fragrance that this glorious black bottle suggests
As I mentioned,I prefer this one to cavalli EDP which is sharper, brighter, lauder.nero assoluto’s drydown;this non-sweet powdery vanilla with woody nuances and very small flashes of fruity and orchid brightness that are buried under tones of semi dark powder,is my favorite part but still not a love or a strong like.I hope it would grow on me.if I tried them before buying I wouldn’t buy both this one and edp.just this one would be enough for me(still not a must have) and I would never buy it full price
I believe it’s wearable year round except in hot days.it’s also not a night perfume for me
Longevity about 4hours on my skin in a winter day.sillage is soft.it’s not too faint but woody and powdery non sweet vanilla don’t have much of taste or color to grab attention
I really don’t know how I feel about it.it was ❤❤ but now that I gave it time and experienced it’s drydown it’s almost ❤❤❤
I’d better give it some more time before deciding whether to add this one to my swap list or not

    Absolute Nero
I’ve got that one, Le secret elixir by Givenchy, and princess by Vera wang on today in different places to see how they react on my skin.
On first spray, it’s summer here, I get s very thick juicy sweetness.
The cavalli edp is hidden in there, this Nero absoluto has more creamy juicy slightly tart sweet overtones rather than the cooler floral of the cavalli edp which I have.
I keep getting delicious wafts of Nero from my arm.
The juiciness shouldn’t be confused with the types aimed for a younger audience (no ageism but it’s true) this is sort of similar (not the actual perfume but the thick juicy effect) to sexy Amber by Michael kors, miss Dior absolutely blooming, it’s got the sweetness of black opium but not as candy sweet.
Si is more tart and aromatic in me, but again the same ‘thickness’.
If you don’t have any perfumes if this sort then it’s a good buy.

  34. :

Sexy like a brunette in a clingy sweater.
Super warm + just a touch exotic. The opening is a bit sharp for me (think it’s the orchid), but after an hour or two the scent mellows beautifully into a sensual, velvety, woody vanilla.
Dark, mature (not in an fusty kind of way, but in a ‘definitely couldn’t have pulled this off at 20’ kind of way), perfect for winter.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

It does remind me of the original Roberto Cavalli EdP, but bubblegum toned way, way down and woodiness turned way, way up. In the opening I got a fish/eyelash glue note (I detect this in some fragrances, Queen by Queen Latifah being an example), but luckily it dissipated quickly, leaving a woody, vanillic base enriched with lovely orchid behind. Clearly this scent was marketed as sexy, and I LOVE when a “sexy scent” for women has unisex appeal and isn’t sweet. That said, for some reason, this one doesn’t qualify as a love.

Very sexy and seductive, more of a night time type of fragrance (or at least wintertime). Spicy orchid with vanilla and wood undertones, lasting power is amazing and price is not that bad. Strong and mature scent.

    This perfume is absolutely divine!
Very seductive, dark, sweet and rich. Definitely a perfume to wear with red lipstick, a cat eye, an LBD and stockings. The vanilla and wood is so intoxicating, it makes me feel confident and ready for a glamourous evening! It lasts around 6 hours and has moderate sillage.
Overall, an intoxicating, dark and seductive perfume that is perfect for hot date nights, glamourous parties and just adding that touch of sexiness to an outfit. I will absolutely be adding this one to my collection. Highly recommended!

I liked the first sniff. But it stays very short on my skin, and after some time I can scent only orchid or jasmine, not`for me. I hate that last scent. Though really interesting, but not my scent, not for my skin. Sad.

Cavalli Nero Assoluto could have been a love for me, if only…
And by that I mean, if only they amped up its volume by 100%. It is beautiful, dark and smooth. But so light! I used my full 5 ml mini two times, generously applying half each time. An hour later I could barely smell it, and since its application it was not a hugely projecting scent to begin with. Still love the concept around it, just not the technical execution of it…

  43. :

    5 out of 5

I originally bought a 7/8ths empty tester for very little, just to try this. After a couple of weeks I just had to go and buy a full bottle. I love this, and it has become my favourite ‘comfort scent’ to spray on when I get home from work and need a ‘scent-boost’ to get my brain into gear for the evening. It is warm, woody, deep and rich. The vanilla is rather boozy to me and undoubtedly oriental; certainly not a sweet-sugary vanilla, like many of the gourmands are. Sophisticated and mysterious is the vibe I get. And I just love the feel of the heavy, rounded, pebble-like bottle in my hand!

  44. :

    4 out of 5

Nero Assoluto saunters in, one hip at a time; there’s a dark, sweet orchid and a rich, heavy vanilla. They take their time building up and thickening into an actual blanket on my skin. And just as it’s about to get too heavy, the woods smooth over some of the sweetness. Smooth dark, sleek woods. This is a heavy projector, a heavy dense blanket wrapping around my skin and sending wafts several feet. It’s long lasting, when applied for an evening it’s still going steady in the morning. It’s a soft, cuddly vanilla focused blanket I wake up to, the long tail end of a cozy, luscious drydown.

This lasts no were near as long as the original. To me this smells of boozy cola bottles with some slight creamy woody undertones. It is not unpleasant, but it is far from deep mysterious intoxicating and inviting as the bottle suggests. I wouldn’t buy this one. I think i’ll just stick with the original it is 100 x better.

Dabbed a little of the sample and as soon as I had, I’ve been slapped in the face with a bouquet of the strongest sweetest orchids imaginable. I kept saying ‘puah! pahhh!’, in disgust for 10 minutes.
Came to the Fragrantica page and immediately removed the “I want it” tick.
After a little while it settled and the orchid had turned slightly woody and softer, and it started smelling pleasant.
I timidly ticked the ‘I like it’ icon.
A few more minutes later, I smelled it again and my arm had surprisingly turned into a sweet, flowery, vanilla-y, warm boozy delicatesse.
    Sold. I’m buying a bottle 😛

WOW this fragrance is SEX in a bottle!
Dark, exotic yet mysterious.. so tempting. It opens up slowly so you have to wait a couple of hours to let it develop on your skin, but when it opens up – it evoke all senses. I can smell mango, peach, leather, vanilla and caramel.
Oriental – sweet gourmand kinda remind me of Belle D’opium by YSL.

I usually don’t care much about black colored perfumes, but nero assoluto made me change my mind,it has two completely differant faces and I love both of them,I also love this switch from the bright face to the darker one
It starts with blasts of citrus+powdery orchid,a fresh bright floral which doesn’t make sence with this black bottle, but then a dark, not very sweet, creamy vanilla shows up beside dominant woodsy notes, this orchid, vanilla, wood combo makes a dark, mysterious scent which is also really sexy and seductive, creamy and cozy, warm and soft, magical, adorable, lovely
It reminds me velvet orchid of tom ford, without the honey note and more woodsy, but as velvety and sultry as that one

I wants to say that I do not like woodsy perfumes, but I love Nero Assoluto..the wood in it is ebony ,so smoother and lighter than other woodsy notes..the top notes seem woodsy but then fade fast to a warm vanilla elixir perfume…
So give it time, the woodsy vibe is subtle, and rounded…not a harsh cedar vibe!!!

Mschabel666: Thanks for the review. This spares me from buying another, too woody perfume. My body chemistry really pulls out the cedar, and other wood notes, and just magnifies them in some perfumes. You often leave a review that I agree with, and we are both gourmand lovers, and I too live in cold Michigan(snow today, in April!).
I guess I’ll pass this one up, and try the original, in the gold bottle.

This is all woody pencil shavings to me! I was hoping for an intense dark vanilla, along the same lines as Dior Addict… but it’s just too woody.
That being said, it’s not terrible. I don’t love it, but the 1 oz I blind-bought for $18 NIB on ebay was worth it. Average/decent potency, but it’s nothing special or mind blowing.
    Woody vanilla. Period.
It’s still about 30 degrees F in Michigan, so this was a winter review. The first opening is very potent, and bad IMO because it reminds me of dark scents like Euphoria (Ick) but that calms down pretty quickly to the wood with a hint of spice and too little vanilla. I also get this very prickly pepper in the first 10 seconds, and it makes me sneeze.
I also don’t care for the original EDP of RC, I do not get any of the balsamic vanilla/gourmand goodness… I just get this floral musky 80s smell, like Navy. (My first perfume in 1992! Haha!)
But I’m still dying to try Essenza because of the nutty notes. I love Just Cavalli Gold, although that one took awhile to grow on me.

This fragrance is so dark. To me it just smells dangerous. I don’t know how to explain it but I imagine someone who is wearing all leather and works as a kick ass sword fighter to wear this. It smells powerful and mighty. I wear it when I want to get that confidence boost. It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea mind you. I usually love fruity and sweet fragrances but then I have this one to wear when I want to feel confident and mysterious – on me it is very woody and leathery with a hint of vanilla. It’s a very unexpected scent and it’s not something that you smell everyday. But I love owning it as an option to when I want to feel bad ass.

I was just about to buy this fragrance blindly based on the notes, but today I happened to encounter a bottle and got my first sniff. And luckily I did, the opening notes are just vile and disgusting to my nose. Admittedly my nose is a little congested right now, but the sickening smell I sprayed on my wrist didn’t change or budge. I unfortunately never got around to the vanilla or woods, I guess, because as soon as possible I washed my wrist with lots of soap. So disappointed. My favorite fragrance “Givenchy’s Hot Couture nr1” is discontinued and I still haven’t found a good replacement. I learned today not to sample frangrances with a stuffy nose (obviously) – however others smelled fine in comparison – and that I apparently really dislike the orchid smell.

This was a blind buy and mmmmm…it’s deliciously dark. When I say “deliciously” I’m not meaning the gourmand or sweet sense. It’s got a sinister vibe about it that from what I can smell so far, rivals my Amouage Memoir in terms of darkness. It’s smooth, rich and somewhat balmy.
It’s not overpowering at all, which is kinda surprising to me, but the longevity seems promising. I haven’t given this a proper wearing yet, but so far, it’s going to be a love for me. I will update at a later time after I’ve given it a good wearing.

Nero Assoluto is a dark, soft and seductive fragrance for women by Roberto Cavalli. I am a fan of Cavalli Just Gold for women and Oro, so I had high hopes for Nero. The orchid is powdery and delicate. This fragrance is sophisticated and balanced. It takes me through the whole day with good sillage.
I understand the comparison to Tom Ford, but Nero is not as sweet and intense.

This is like a chameleon – changing all the time and it’s doing it slowly. Like a real lady, this perfume doesn’t hurry. Stage after stage… First I get a fresh flower +light citrus wave which makes me wonder about all that “nero” (black) thing in its name. At this stage I get something light and really lovely,a bit dewy. And then -a surprise! Those innocent flowers turn into something adult, teasing and containing a dark vanilla and some expensive alcohol mixture. The perfume starts flirting, becomes warm and warming. Like a woman who has met a man she finds attracting among many boring men during a long, official party.
I just love the developing vanilla here! Serious (because of the woody notes), boozy, dark, not childish or too sweet. Sometimes I get a light leather hint which I love! The orchid is present all the time, it’s like a beautiful frame for this dark vanilla and wood painting. Somehow it reminds me “Velvet Orchid” by Tom Ford (this is fresher and lighter, of course). The longer I wear the perfume, the deeper, blacker it becomes. Like I’m diving into this depth if passion.
Now it’s winter here (- 16 degrees), and this perfume is one of my sophisticated “scarves”. The cold makes it float around me. Beautiful, sophisticated, a bit sparkling, but thick, warm and protecting (not only from the cold, but also from the bad mood and people).
