Description

For summer 2013, Jennifer Lopez launched limited edition fragrance Rio Glow. Rio Glow is a new version of the original perfume Glow from 2002, following the theme of interesting cities such as the flankers Miami Glow from 2005 and L.A. Glow from 2010.

The fragrance tends to project passion, enjoyment and positivity that symbolize Brazil. The composition is bright floral – fruity opening with fresh green notes and flavors of apple, peach and pear with the heart of orange blossom, plum and heliotrope. Warmth of amber, musk, vanilla and white cedar completes the composition.

Available as 100 ml Eau de Toilette

I second the review below mine.
Nice scent but lasting power is..well there IS NO lasting power.
Its fruity with a green note, basic fruity body spray. I thought the same about Wild Glow only it was fruit n musk, i thought the longevity of that one was wad, till i git thos.
Its like all the flankers of Glow are missing something, something that gives it depth and character.
All Beyonce’s heat scents have something in them that makes them unique, and they garner both love and hate but at least they have character.
I really like the origional glow; that strong soapy note and tuberose was what made it stand out. But this is just a bit dull.
    Nice, but dull.

Very disappointed with this, it smells lovely but the lasting power is dire 🙁 it literally disappeared from my skin moments after spraying it, which is a shame as I really liked the fruity green smell from it. I’m envious of others here who can still smell it hours later, would be perfect if it was like that for me but I have body sprays that last longer than this….*sigh*….Maybe I’ll try it again in cooler weather, we’re currently experiencing a heatwave here in the UK…Yay!!! Im craving juicy fruity fragrances because of the heat, but this isn’t doing anything for me unfortunately.

Realy like this one its nice and soft
    Green and juicy

    The silage is amazing

This is one of the best out of the glow series. It’s a burst of peaches and pears. It’s sexy but not too sweet. Definitely more than worth the cost.

Rios Glow is the perfect name for this darling! It is such a fun fragrance to wear in a hot summer days. Wish the longevity and sillage would be better but anyway I enjoy wearing this one a lot as it has that carnival, let it go vibe about it. If you want to have some fun, grab this one.

Purchased this today and it was very inexpensive for a large bottle but I was a little disappointed by the scent. It doesn’t smell as good as glow it’s just super light and fruity. I would say it’s like a body spray but even body sprays are heavier than this. No silage no longevity. Nothing new or exciting. I have always been a die hard glo fan since it came out so I was expecting this to be similar but it’s not. The bottle is super cute and for that reason I think I’m going to keep it because it looks nice on my vanity. Its actually one of the coolest bottles I’ve ever seen I wish the perfume inside was amazing too!

The opening of this smells so much like D&G Light Blue (which I LOVE)… exciting!!!!! BUT.. then within a minute it starts to fade…. and fades down quickly to almost nothing.
    *sad face*
Its soft and almost not there. But it’s become sweet from pear and apple and very light white floral with a tiny hint of vanilla.. and powder?
I’m not sure as I can barely smell it.
So I sprayed again a few minutes later thinking maybe I hadn’t sprayed enough, but again it faded quickly to near-gone.
It’s a nice soft scent, but more like a very light body spray with zero sillage.
Nothing to get excited about that’s for sure. I don’t smell anything original here. This doesn’t represent her personality at all.
    Bottle is pretty, but awkward.
I’m wearing it to bed tonight, but I bet nobody would be able to smell this on me during the day.
Will likely not get any compliments on it, but it smells clean for yourself.
I paid 19.99 at Shoppers here in Canada tonight. Was the last bottle.
(Also bought Wild Glow and Beyonce Heat – red bottle)
It doesn’t seem to be changing much at all since the initial spray/fade it had in the first 1-2 minutes.
Smells like it would definitely be a summer scent, but for sure will need to reapply if you want to keep smelling it.
Very inoffensive. Work place safe as you won’t be able to smell it even on yourself lol
    Sad.. it’s so watered down.
I own JLo’s Live and absolutely love it. In fact, on my second bottle of that (great lasting power on that one).
I was hoping this would have the same power as Live, but just smell different.
    It’s very generic unfortunately.
Will keep trying it and update if my opinion changes, but as for tonight, only 30 mins in.. it’s very unimpressive.
Definitely will not repurchase this one, and if you’re thinking of blind buying, pass on it and get one of the others our fellow fragrant friends have mentioned.
Sorry Jlo… This perfume, though it’s the first of the “glows” for me, just isn’t what I would expect from you.
You’re still beautiful, and I love everything about you.. but this “perfume” is weak.

This smells like a really fruity shampoo. The pear is the standout note in this, it’s very tropical and also very greeny, from the green notes. The green notes and pear mix beautifully together later on and the peach is there on the drydown, making it very soapy.
It could be a really good summery scent for the daytime, this doesn’t last as long as the glows so you will have to reapply!

@like whoa yeah: If you like jlo’s strong fruity scents , then ” Live Luxe”…”wild glow” ” Miami Glow” and ” Sunkissed Glow” are really good ones. Miami and Sunkissed are very similar but these are the good ones. I have lots of her collection and those are my faces. Oh, and ” Love and Glamour” is great for one that’s not fruity. As for Rio Glow, it took time to grow on me. When I first bought it I sprayed myself as soon as I got it in the door and smelled nothing. That was because I had been wearing a stronger perfume . Once I started using Rio on its own it seemed to unfold into a nice hot weather scent.

Very light skin scent a body spray formula in a glass perfume bottle like so many celb scents …I own and love allot of celeb scents but like 90 percent of beyonces fragrances are weak and cheap this is what this fells like to me I like it just to have it …this is my 3rd jlo scent her first glo lasted well the other 2 I’ve tried were drug store body sprays…whatever I’m still gonna try a few more like sunkissed glow and the desco line

Got this last night at TJMaxx for $12.99. I had seen if before but wasn’t sure if I wanted to get it in those instances. I wanted to go to the Rio Olympic games this summer but had to change my plans and I’ve had a fascination with Brazil for a while now. When I saw the scent this time, I took the plunge unsniffed. When I first sprayed this it was at night and I lightly sprayed for fear of not liking it so I couldn’t get a true feel for the scent. The next morning I sprayed it again on my wrist and just sat with it. The floral notes are coming out more now and I feel its more floral than fruity but the fruit is still there balancing out the presence of the floral notes. I think this is growing on me and could see wearing it for beach and pool days just like the Blue Glow I also own. It’s slightly tropical but not in the suntan oil coconutty way. More in the topical flower sort of way. I actually like this bottle also, it’s very fun and colorful. I like that the name appears on the glass also unlike blue glow. Worth a try if you like floral fruity scents.
    Edit:
I remember now what this reminds me of, the old fragrance Ralph Rocks but that one was fruitier in my opinion.
    2nd edit:
I am happy with this blind purchase. This is a super fun scent, the floral notes are very pleasant and there is one yummy fruit scent amongst the notes!

WOW am I surprised! This is far better than I imagined. It took me a bit to realize why this smelled….familiar? Someone mentioned they smelled vanilla. I’m like…WHAT vanilla!? The vanilla in this to MY nose, is faint, but smells VERY much like the vanilla in 5:40 pm in Madagascar (immediately after it’s sprayed). It doesn’t change like 5:40 does. It’s light, but it’s very appealing to me.
This is a green, fresh scent to me. It does last a very long time. It’s light, green, cool, and fresh. You will smell it on your clothes in the morning.
The bottle is awful. It’s hard to spray because it’s so awkward. Imagine not having thumbs! Just testing this product before being sold should send you back to the drawing board. This leaves me to wonder…
The cap, the CAP, I will just toss in the garbage. I’ve seen nicer plastic caps on body spray bottles.
It’s a pretty bottle, but needs that lil somethin somethin…a charm. Yes, the charm would have dazzled me some. It’s such a pretty colored bottle too!
This scent is worth the price I paid. For the shock I got from it’s lovely green scent wellll…I can forgive all the negative.
Oh…did I mention it doesn’t last!? Still…worth the purchase to ME. I even marked that this would be good for fall. It’s SO fresh, GREEN, like a new twig you peel the bark off. A favorite scent of mine.
This is a bottle of tender wood and the vanilla in 5:40 pm in Madagascar…and something else that’s wonderful….what DO I smell?
I’m just so happy with this. Stupid ugly cap and worthless bottle…don’t pass up this joy to have scent! Might even be a good idea to purchase TWO bottles. I know I’ll be SAD when this is gone!
Edit This IS a very long lasting scent for me. I feel bad I never mentioned this long ago. I can wear this for a day without touching up.

The bottle bears striking similarities to Lancome’s Calypso. Just check it out. And maybe even the juice. But Calypso was better.
I kinda like Rio Glow. Kinda. But it gave me a stomach turn after a while and I couldn’t detect the notes “ringing”, it’s a bit sloppy.
To be honest I just thought that they came up with a quick answer to their Marketing Departments’s call for “A perfume to combine some fruity exotism with google searches of Rio’s Olympic Games this summer”. SEO in perfumery.

I usually love Jennifer Lopez fragrances, but I smell nothing here but alcohol at the beginning, then…nothing. I dont understand it. I bought it at a legit store and all the reviews here say good things but I can’t smell anything!!! I’m very disappointed

Oooh, what a lovely composition Jennifer has made.
To be honest I cannot pick out any specific notes if my life depended on it. There are sharp, fruity notes that float over a sea of baby powder freshness.
The powdery fragrance strikes my comfort zone. I feel unusually safe, as if the ocean and the sun has made a blanket of heaven for me.
After 20 minutes of applying it stays very close to skin, but it stays that way for about 7 hours or so..I think that its disappeared and I catch hints and whiffs of it through out my day.
This is a very personal fragrance…a very zen fragrance. It always reminds me to relax.

  19. :

Not the fruity explosion I was expecting. It is fruity in the sense of tart green apple but not a tropical fruit cocktail. It smells like a much lighter/fresher version of Mariah Carey’s Forever. Very similar but without the headache aspect. I got great deal (100ml for $12.99) so it was worth it. But it’s nothing new or exciting.
I probably shouldn’t compare anything Mariah Carey/Jennifer Lopez… But this calls for it. #idontknowher

Nice in the beginning, exotic but not beachy. I’ll wait for a small bottle.
Update: A mild, soapy fruity scent almost like chewing gum with a hint of sulfer. Odd, but still pretty. Settles into a faint green floral before disappearing too soon. After walking around a couple hours, I now smell Gale Hayman Delicious Feelings. It’s too much like laundry detergent. I like her Blue Glow, the best of the Glows.

This is really high up in my favourite Jlo fragrances. Rio Glow is perfection for summer. The box is bright orange almost red with multi coloured ‘Rio Glow’ on it. The bottle goes from orange at the bottom to blue at the top .. with a purple cap. The smell is amazing. The top opens with a beautiful peach and apple cocktail with pear on the side. The middle is a nice green floral mix with some warm juicy plum. The base is a nice warm mix of amber, vanilla, white cedar and musk. This lasts an average of 6 hours on my skin. Jennifer keep the great fragrances coming xo

My daughter picked this out (she’s 6yrs old!). A very light Summer fragrance – unoffensive with a peach front and very soft musk undertone. The sillage is light to moderate, and its still going strong on my tester strip some 2 hours in. The flanker design is actually really fitting; a bright friendly, soft fragrance all in all. Good pick!
    Have a great day 🙂

Here in Canada, one of the best aces to buy perfume is at shoppers drug mart. They have a good size section of perfumes that are 19.99. So as per my usual pay day Friday routine, I go to shoppers for perfume. I found this for 19.99. Now I couldn’t test it the box was sealed, so I decided that since I love wild glow tha this should be at least half decent! I must say….I really really like it, perhaps even love it! Very nice scent for summer and spring!

My lover bought me this for Christmas, which is very hot here in desert Australia, it was a blind buy (he liked the colours of the bottle) that turned out to be spot on.It was the absolute perfect scent to wear by the pool in the festive season.
It is not listed but I smell the skin of tangerines.
The longevity is good for a celeb perfume.
I also like the bottle, but would not have tried it if it wasn’t a gift.
    Scent 6 / 10
    Bottle 7 / 10

On first application the perfume’s strongest note is the apple. Unlike Jennifer’s usual sweet fruit-lead fragrances the apple here is not sweet – in fact it’s downright sharp. I’ll point out that it’s not so sharp as to be sour, so while [on me] the rest of the fruits aren’t strong enough to separate on their own merit, they must be there balancing out the apple.
The watery green notes blend in with the apple so thoroughly that the top notes don’t seem to burn down for ages, so as the floral notes develop they take a back seat. The notes are blended together very well, but I can detect what I’m quite sure is gardenia and lily.
The most interesting aspect to the fragrance does become more noticeable as the fruits and florals die down – it’s something like the ‘hot sand’ accord in Miami Glow. I can’t fully describe this mysterious scent note; it’s similar to how a cotton tee smells when it’s just come out of the tumble dryer and the fibers smell warmed.
Rio Glow is pleasant and wearable, however it isn’t something that is ‘new’ new; there are several fragrances that it reminds me of, the chief ones being Jennifer’s own Live Platinum, and Paris Hilton Tease. If you are a Jennifer Lopez fragrance collecter you’ll probably enjoy this as it is reminiscent of her now-hard-to-find limited edition Live Platinum. However if you’re not into following her fragrance collection you can skip Rio Glow, and buy Tease instead – as it is easily found online at a lower price.

So I walked into Shoppers Drug Mart with my mom because she was looking for a Perfume for herself. Well, I wandered off and found Rio Glow on sale for $19.99! I grabbed it right away since it was the last one they had and I’m really happy that I did. Being an eau de toilette it doesn’t really last all that long but i don’t mind respraying since it smells so nice!I really get the peach throughout the entire time its on me and for some reason mango. Its definitely fruity and very tropical and really nice for a summer day. A nice buy (especially since it was on sale!)

What a surprise it was to see this in Shoppers tonight. This reminds me of tanning oil, the beach and a tropical drink. This will make a wonderful summer scent for day or evening wear.
    Update:
I absolutely love this scent. Opens up with a nice floral woody scent but the dry down is all apples and pears. Very light and but on me the lasting power is amazing. This to me is Sunkissed Glow and LA Glow together in one bottle.

Just picked this up today and it is amazing!! It’s light, refreshing and clean. I pull out the peach & musk and it’s soooo gorgeous! Definetly going to be my summer fragrance!

Just found this at Shoppers Drug Mart for 20$ in Canada!
Judging by the design I was thinking it would be a Miami/Sunkissed Glow copy but it doesn’t have a beachy suntan lotion-y vibe like those two.
It’s more herbal and fruity than tropical, you get the apple and those green notes which then dry down to a soapy orange blossom. It’s quite light and I think I’ll be reaching for this in humid summer days.
It also has a slight resemblance to Daisy eau So Fresh. 😉

  31. :

It does indeed smell almost identical to ‘Live Platinum’, I used to own ‘Live Platinum’ so I am quite familiar with the scent. Great news for those who wanted to get hold of it again, but really I feel like it should have been a re-release and not completely repackaged and sold as something seperate.
Very fruity opening, layered with the classic JLo soap. Pleasant enough but no wow factor. Very casual, shower scent I wouldn’t wear it for special events or formal occasions.

  32. :

    5 out of 5

I had to pay a ridiculous price for this, because I could not find it anywhere. Well, it was not worth it because, it smells just like Live Platinum and the lasting power is horrible. The scent is very light and lasts as much, maybe even slightly less than a body mist does. Would recommend Live Platinum over this, because the lasting power was better. Definitely smells like all they did was put Live Platinum, in a different bottle.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

I just received this today off eBay and I would say it’s quite similar to LA Glow, in my opinion. I like it, but I feel that the lasting power is just not long enough and I much prefer LA Glow over this one. I do like the colors on both bottles for sure though.

  34. :

I blind bought this today at Marshall’s and am glad I did. It’s very clean, like everything in the Glow line, and it’s a nice, light skin scent. It is eminently suitable for the office — completely inoffensive. It reminds me a lot of something in the Marc Jacobs Daisy line, as well as Kate Moss Wild Meadow. Rio Glow is ideal for a hot climate such as mine, and I’m sure it will be in heavy rotation for most of the year. Peach and cedar are in the notes, which gives it a similarity to Elizabeth Taylor Violet Eyes. Believe it or not, I’m actually glad I own all of these: Daisy Eau So Fresh, Violet Eyes, Wild Meadow, AND Rio Glow! For one thing, they all require a lot of reapplication throughout the day. Happy spraying!

  35. :

Alright. I’m not a big fan of celebrity fragrances, but in this case I was surprised.
It smells fruity, yet nothing like other sweet/sticky/fruity scents that are truly repulsive.
This one manages to stay light, like a soft tropical breeze.
St first the orange blossom is prominent, I also smell something similar to pineapple. Maybe because of the green apple, pear and peach.
The amber and vanilla comes and go, like waves that sweep the fruit notes.
I have to say that I like it. The bottle is nice and colorful.
I can recommend Rio Glow. A sexy fun, playful yet light fragrance that I guess most people will find attractive.

I really liked this- it was nicely fruity and light without being cloying or sickly. However, just as I was feeling all pleased with it and adding it to my wish list, it disappeared within one hour. Shame. it was promising.

So excited to have stumbled upon this fragrance tonight at my local TJMaxx here in America! I thought this would be the one JLO fragrance I would never own due to the fact that it was not officially released in America! I saw it and knew I HAD to buy it right then and there, or I would probably never see it again! Paid $25, but after opening up the box and testing it out, I think it was totally worth it! 🙂
I love the bottle. Although it did not come with a charm as the other Glow collection did, I am not saddened by that. The bottle is unique in it’s own way: It is multicolored.
I think it smells really nice! I have honestly never smelled ‘Live Platinum’ in which everyone is comparing RIO GLOW to, but I can say that I find this perfume to be very pleasant! For me, it smells like it will be a great summer perfume! It’s fresh & fruity smelling!
So happy to be a lucky owner of this perfume! 🙂
I love JLO and her perfumes!

I don’t know how long it has been available at TJ Maxx but I got my hands on a 3.4 oz today! Soooio excited to finally see it in America!
It’s a great fragrance, however, it is an almost replica of Live Platinum….

Very similar to Live Platinum. I was disappointed since I have already had that one. I expected an original fragrance, but it seems like they put Live Platinum inside Rio Glow bottle and called it like exclusive for Brazil. Not exclusive at all. Nice fragrance, but nothing original.

this is a very light tropical breeze scent that is quite nice differnt than most glows but still fits in the line there are no plans currently for any other country releases of this besides brazil but i was able to get my hands on it and have reviewd it on my youtube channel AtheS perfume…go check it out:)

Hello! I live in Brazil and already bought this fragrance. Remember the other fragrances line: LA Glow and Miami Glow (my favorite). It is a limited edition, available so far only in Brazil, exclusively by the company Jequiti through catalog and consultants. It appears that the simplicity and the packaging container must to reduce the cost of the product, making it popular. This company sells cosmetics and perfumes from various artists (Madonna, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera …). The price in the catalog is R$ 109.00 (Brazilian Real) or US$ 46.62 (U.S. Dollar).

still have not seen this, I wonder if we will get it for spring/summer 2014????

  44. :

I would not expect this perfume to get the US anytime soon. If you look at the Deseo Forever she made for Asian countries, it didn’t get here til years later. And based on what some of the reviews I’ve read, we’re not missing much. Considering I have Live Platinum and rarely wear it cuz it’s a 1.3 oz bottle.
The bigger complaint I have about JLO right now is her recent perfumes: Glowing Forever and JLove. Both of these perfumes only come up to 1.3oz. I have a thing about matching, all the other bottles are 2.7-3.4. These 2 are putting a ding my ocd tendencies. However, I would recommend the JLove, it’s pretty interesting. Like a shoot off of Juicy Couture.

I ran upon this in Jequiti, Brazil while on a trip with a local charity organization. After we were done doing what we went there to do, we all decided it would be nice to explore a little bit!
I ran into this beauty at a local department store like shop. I ofcourse ran, squeeling like a little girl, to the counter when I spotted this! I was so excited, but sort of let down too.
I’ll start with the bottle. I’m not sure what is with celebrities making their bottles with transitioning colors on it this year…but anyway, I was disappointed with the bottle. I was expecting it to have the frostiness to it like Sunkissed Glow, but the colors are see through :/ This bottle had a lot of potential…but it definitely wasn’t put to the highest. There’s no charm, obviously. A BIG LET DOWN FOR ME! I love the charms on the Glow bottles…so, that saddened me a bit.
The box…there’s not much to say about it because it’s just that. There isn’t much too it. A reddish orange color with Rio Glow written up and down it. Not her best box.
On to the the perfume itself!!!! It’s definitely unique just like all of her other Glows. It however, is definitely not my favorite. It’s kind of all over the place. It doesn’t really transition into the three stages either. It kind of stays the same all the way through. I picked up something aquatic, something very tart, and something very very very floral! It’s kind of like Blue Glow, Love at First Glow, and Sunkissed Glow all mixed up made into a hot mess lol. It doesn’t last long either.
Like I said, I like it, but it’s nothing SUPER MEGA AWESOME, that everyone needs to go out to buy. I do wish I would have been able to bring a bottle home with me, but that surely wouldn’t have passed customs at the airport. I will be more than content waiting and hoping it comes to the States.

Since it’s a summer frag, and here in Brazil is winter, I think I have to wait to have an opinion about it, because in colder days, it seems to be very subtle and fruity floral, I can feel the peaches and apple.

Not only is it a limited edition, it is also only sold in Brazil. WHY???!!!
Does not we other deserve to get the chance to try this perfume? To go to Brazil just to buy a perfume will be WAAAAAAAAAAAY to expensive!!! Yes it is a beautiful country, but everyone isn´t millionairs to afford to travel to places just because some bottles are exclusivly sold in particular countries.
I think that is mean to the rest of us that we can´t buy theese perfumes in our own countries!!!

im kind of in shock that it doesnt have some sort of detachable jewelry or something… still, it’s a GLOW flanker, it has to be good

This fragrance is exclusive to Brazil, this sale only in our country!
In my opinion it does not have the smell of soap base with all the Glow line has …
On me it smells exactly like the old STILL, just changed the packaging.

It came out here (Brazil) last month, i guess, and i purchased cause i really like J.Lo fragrances. This one is not sold as an Eau de Toilette here, but as an “Desodorante Colônia”, what would be something like a Eau de Cologne.
It’s Fruity and Sweet. i could smell the Pear and the Peach and the Vanilla with a hint of the flowers. It’s balanced, but it’s not a summer fragrance or a fresh fragrance, like i thought it would be. It’s a nice one, actually, but totally common. Totally ordinary.
It could be a blind buy if you don’t get your hopes high, cause it’s a nice one, an everyday one, that fades away really quickly.

No charm on the bottle this time?
Every other Glow bottle came with some kind of decorative charm.
