This is what La Nuit De L’homme should have been in my opinion. This is it’s younger modern cousin. This fragrance is VERY GOOD for the money. I get fig leaf, plum, black currant, sandalwood and musk, but they are all blended surprisingly well so that no one note overpowers the other. The longevity and projection of this fragrance are both excellent as well. I get 8 hours or more with this fragrance. The only potential issue with this fragrance is that it is synthetic, however it is synthetic in a good way in that it smells fantastic and does not become irritating or cloying. This is definitely a safe but unique night time scent that can be used in the winter as well.
I was not a fan of YSL La Nuit, but I have found a better smelling alternative that can be had for $25 online. Do yourself a favor and check out this hidden gem.

This scent is very good. This scent is somewhat similar to La Nuit de L’Homme. For me, Republic of Men Essence is less powdery, less sweet and less synthetic than La Nuit though.
La Nuit de L’Homme is more formal and mature. Republic of Men Essence has more “youth” an a more modern approach for a night scent.
Republic of men essence is in that powdery/musky category as La Nuit, Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense but not as cloying. The notes in this fragrance are well blended and you wont get that synthetic and cloying feel as in others if you applied correctly. The fragrance starts peppery and musky then settles to a floral herb and sweet plum, it ends with a little sweet hint of plum and fig notes.
Test it before buying, I made a blind purchase and I was happy because of the price (on sale) and the scent itself but taste change from person to person and you are the best judge. Overall, a great cologne worth trying.
