New and cellophaned Release Me opened and tried today:
Hmm, it’s a strange one this.
A coconutty tinge is apparent from the very beginning, but strangely, although it’s a base note in this, it diminishes more and more in the wearing until after a few hours it’s gone.
Top notes to me are plum, coconut and .. rather than ‘white flowers’, I get a strong, almost urine, smell. Apparently this wouldn’t be white flower indole which instead smells ‘faecal’.
Anyway, I can’t pick out tuberose (ah – think that may be the ‘urine’ actually, thinking back to the original tuberose-heavy Chloe)/jasmine or whatever as prominent at any stage. Can’t pick out any neroli at all. Overall effect at first is quite pleasantly ‘boozy’.
After a couple of hours, Release Me, to my nose, becomes very very similar to Illamasqua’s Freak – a light floral melange.
I actually think Release Me smells like a quality perfume – it could be a ‘niche’, I’m just not sure if it’s me. I’m going to hold my nose and spray liberally in a room one day, then quickly walk out and walk back in a while later to see what I think. It feels nice to wear but I’m not sure yet if I want to project it. If not, I’ll maybe be doing a UK swap.
Quite a nice bottle, reminds me a little bit of the Lanvin Rumeur one, both the colour of the juice and the heaviness. The Rumeur glass is chunky and heavy and the spherical silver Release Me top is weighty too, a nice touch.
Update 30/09/13 – ok, have kept trying with this one and I now have a definite picture in my mind to go with it – a carefree young woman running around on a sunny palm-fringed beach. Accordingly, I think I’m going to keep this for future holidays/nice hot Summer weather.
I don’t like the coconutty top layer too much but that soon wears off and the remainder is really quite lovely. A little ‘something different’ for my wardrobe.
(ps. I think if you mixed together Freak & With Love, you’d get something very close to Release Me.)
***Update, 11/06/14 (June!)*** The weather is gorgeous here in the UK just now, warm and sunny. I pulled this frag. out of the back of my perfume cupboard today and it’s a resounding success! Love it and it’s going to be my Summer fragrance this year, it’s perfect.
I see there are 4 votes for a similarity with ‘With Love’ now – I would just say that I really don’t like With Love. Release Me has an element of it but is also quite different from it on the whole – a totally different frag.

This is unlike anything I have ever smelled in a perfume. It reminds me of toilet freshener. It’s acrid, sour, the notes seem thrown together, particularly the floral notes and it doesn’t gel for me. I will update if it smells better on clothes or after a few hours but for now it’s a dislike. It’s heavy too, not in a nice way. It is very hot here today so perhaps it’s better in cool weather.
I wanted to love this so much! The bottle is amazing!
