Description

After last year’s edition Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna, which we have announced exclusively at TFWA 2010, Rihanna in collaboration with Parlux is launching her second fragrance named Rebelle this year.

Rebelle arrives on the market in spring 2012 as a fruity-floral with strong gourmand chords. Top notes encompass plum, strawberry and ginger; a heart offers heliotrope, vanilla orchid and cocoa absolute, while a base features a trail of musk, coffee, patchouli and amber.

The fragrance will be available in a flacon shaped like the last year’s edition, created of transparent glass and red and gold surfaces.

Rebelle assortment includes 30, 50 and 100 ml EDP, as well as perfumed body lotion 200ml.
Rebelle was created by Marypierre Julien and Caroline Sabas.

Maybe because it was beside a bunch of other celeb fragrances, and maybe because my nose was on overload having sniffed so many test strips, but this was unremarkable. I thought it would be deeper, stronger. It felt shallow and muted. Nothing I HAD to have.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–I don’t know how such a classy, unique, and complex fragrance can come in such a chintzy bottle. The red paint on this clunky bottle is chipping off and the gerish red cap just reminds me of a woman way past her prime dressing too sexy, but this ugly little thing sits on my shelf alongside my elegant bottles of Dior, Lancôme, and Michael Kors because it’s what’s inside that counts and what’s inside is warm, spicy, sexy, comforting, cozy, and intoxicating.

Rihanna Rebelle was a very pleasant surprise for me. I went in with low expectations because it was a celebrity scent that I found cheap as chips at a discounter. It ended up being one of my nicest buys this year. I don’t get much strawberry note at all, maybe just a tiny bit to sweeten the deal, and not a realistic strawberry, more of a strawberry lip balm scent. What Rebelle is for me is a chocolate and coffee perfume. It’s warm and rich and cozy. I ended up buying the shower gel too. This meshes very well with warm skin, creating a sweater of fragrance. I could see this being a good purchase for a young lady on a budget who likes the sweet perfume trend but finds things like Pink Sugar too saccharine and La Vie Est Belle too heady. Rebelle is sweet but it’s got just enough of a bitter edge from the coffee to say “Hey I’m sugar AND spice. Don’t forget the spice part!” This makes me feel kinda sassy and coy. A perfect cold weather weekend type fragrance. Mmmm makes me want some Starbucks.

I can’t differentiate the individual notes but I Iove the way it smells, warm spice and sweet. It has good longevity on me for around 6-7 hours and sillage seems to be far as my partner can smell when I have it on from the other side of the car. A very sexy scent for any time (in my opinion)

I like this. All I get from it is strawberry with a little bit of cocoa? I think. But mostly creamy strawberry. It’s peasant, but not amazing to me.

    ~LOVE~
I smell so nice when I wear this perfume. I love it! It makes me feel so special. It’s light yet noticeable. I can’t distinguish the individual notes but Iove the way it smells. Delightful. ^^

The second perfume represents her dark demonic side. That’s how smells Riri singing b**ch better give my money.
It’s only winter perfume in my opinion. Rebelle hits with very thick, tobacco, dark chocolate and coffee smoke, maybe you will be lucky to feel strawberry too but it’s not always present. Add patchouli to this picture and you get all the underground. I wouldn’t say it’s sweet. This is spicy warm oriental scent.
It lasts all day, the comments are diverse from “omg this is divine!!!!” till “eww what’s that?”

I love this. Got it on resale on Facebook for 20 CAD for a full size bottle. Win.
It is very smoky and almost masculine. I can smell coffee and chocolate. Very sexy. This is a sex bomb fragrance to me and definitely inappropriate for daytime and work environment. I tried it in the heat and it’s overbearing. I am waiting for a crisp end of Summer night to wear this. Beautifulllll.

    Notes on Rebelle’s drydown:
Dry, smoky, light vanilla incense. Really nice scent!

Really nice surprise! Not at all the juicy-delicious fruitchouli that is Reb’l Fleur (which reminds me a bit of a much less complex version of Chanel’s Coco Noir). Rebelle reminds me most of all of Bulgari Black (unfortunately discontinued) but easier on the nose because Black’s unusual hot rubber scent is swapped out for a soft, powdery cacao & coffee. I’m not sure if the sweetness I smell is the plum or strawberry (maybe it’s the strawberry…), and there’s just a hint of flowery heliotrope, just like Bulgari Black has a muted floral note in the background. Rebelle is a really nice, somewhat subtle, almost-skin-scent on me, not at all what I expected.

Smells like spicy sweet lipstick. It’s sexy and I love it
It’s different from most gourmands and uniquely beautiful. The notes that really stand out on my skin are strawberry, patchouli and chocolate.

It’s like eating some strawberry chocolate with cup of coffee when the cookies are baking in kitchen

Got burned again! I did the same thing with Jessica Simpson’s Fancy perfume. I’m looking over the notes and thinking “How can I NOT like this perfume when there’s so many notes that I think would smell terrific and blend well with each other. Fancy didn’t turn out so well for me and Rebelle didn’t either.
All I can pick up is a plastic smell mixed in with a strawberry scent. And it’s not a very pleasant strawberry smell either. And it’s not a case of the scent going through a ‘transfer’ through drydown either.
However, I think I’ve managed to save this perfume so I can actually use it. This pairs very nicely with Avon’s Ultra Sexy Heart perfume. That particular perfume was another one that I wasn’t crazy about because of that screechy opening that made me want to scrub it off. Anyway, I had on the Rebelle perfume and spritzed some of the Ultra Sexy Heart on top. Thankfully it’s blended into something quite lovely.
I hate I’m so down on Rebelle and feel like I should give a couple of genuine compliments, even though I certainly can’t praise the perfume by itself. The bottle is very lovely. I don’t really have a hard time spraying it. I believe I saw other reviewers saying they had a hard time with holding it and spraying it because of its shape. And I must compliment the lovely box it came in. It truly has a gorgeous picture of Rihanna on the back.
In closing, sincerely doubt I’ll buy another bottle of Rebelle since I’m having to blend it with something else for me to enjoy it. This was my first Rihanna perfume so I’m not sure if I’d like to try any of the other fragrances she has out. This review is just my taste, my opinion. It’s always safe to try out any perfume before blindly buying it. There’s so many that genuinely love this perfume and that might apply towards anybody else that’s never tried this perfume. But there’s going to be people that will take a sniff from using a tester and be glad they didn’t purchase it because it wasn’t their thing.

I don’t normally like fruity gourmands but I find this one quite nice!
The opening was not so pleasant for me. Sticky, fruity, almost reminds me of Bubblicious bubblegum. I dislike anything resembling bubblegum in my fragrance so I’m glad it was temporary.
The dry down of Rebelle is warm, soft spicy, fruity, sweet without without being cloying. (This is coming from someone who’s easily overwhelmed by sweet scents!)
As some have mentioned, it smells familiar. I think so too. To me, it reminds me of Victoria Secret’s Very Sexy Hot, minus the leather/suede note. They are not the same scent, but they share a similar vibe.
The “burnt” smell some have commented about, I believe is the coffee, which are ‘roasted’ beans after all! I don’t find it offensive, it’s quite addicting actually.
The coffee in this is mild, more of a creamy, spiced cappuccino. I was excited about the coffee note as I was looking for authentic, aromatic bitter black coffee. This isn’t what I’m looking for, but it’s delicious!
I don’t find it masculine (which VS was also said to be), but I can see how it would be interpreted as such. If anything, it’s unisex! Bold, loud, fun, confident and flirtatious, Rebelle is not for me, but I can definitely appreciate it.

I was recently at a street food market in Copenhagen talking to a woman there. She smelled so sexy it was distracting me. I had to stop mid sentence and ask her what she was wearing. She couldn’t remember only that the bottle was gold and red. I kept thinking it smelled familiar, I knew I had smelled it before, but on her it was this gorgeous soft, spicy, slightly sweet, slightly masculine lipstick scent with a rich warmth to it. Probably one of the sexiest scents I’ve smelled on a woman. I got her contact information and insisted she send me a picture of the bottle. This morning she did and it was Rebelle!! Of course it was! I don’t know how I didn’t recognize it at the time.
I will now forever associate this scent with a beautiful and unseasonably warm May evening in Copenhagen at the street food market and my fun and fragrant new friend who I ended up splitting tacos and a bottle of wine with.

100% chill weather fragrance. It’s really spicy that the first minute all i can smell is ginger and patchouli. Then the cacao and coffee appear gives it some sweetness. No strawberry or floral, the dry down that i get on my skin is chocolate, coffee, patchouli with (still) hint of ginger.

So after reading people say that the red paint comes off after a while, i just grabbed a knife and scraped all of it off. Its now just got a golden ribbon around it. Much more aesthetically pleasing lol.

I Really don’t like spicy scents…I wanted to try this because of those cacao and coffee notes i surprisely I loved it…it’s smells like a chocolate with fruit and it’s so strong and long lasting but not a good choice for blind buy because most of my friends didn’t like it

  20. :

I’ve had this for so long that the red design is flaking off lol.. Cute surprise it has a gold like tape under it. Let’s talk about the juice inside 😉 I love the coffee & cocoa combination with the strawberry, it smells a tiny bit powdery, but wait!!! I think it smells delicious, it’s got sweetness, I’d think of a toasted marshmallow latte, that gives off the delicious aroma. She’s spicy 😉 I may buy my second bottle once I finish this one.
    Longevity: 5-6 hours.

Umm yummy. I’ve sat for hours watching movies and smelling my wrists every 10 minutes. Like an intoxicating Strawberry Latte with a wonderful Patch/Plum (one of my favorite combos) undertone. The various notes are blended extremely well and balanced and I’m quite surprised at the way some of them worked together. The scent is delicious all the way around and I’m glad I gave it a try. Grabbed it and Midnight Fantasy from B.S. as “birthday to myself” gifts. Both screamed “you made a couple good choices from your research” at me…lol I find this quite dark and sultry and with a “Bahama Nights” type atmosphere, yet has this distant sweet undertone that only whispers at you occasionally from behind the shadows of that sultry night. Will certainly be trying some of her other scents as I now feel safe in doing so.
PS: I am a guy, and this works well as a unisex fragrance.

Coco butter, milky coffee, strawberry lipgloss. The ginger and patchouli notes comes out just in the drydown for me. Rebelle is sweet, warm, buttery, spicy, and slightly synthetic – but I think in a good way. This absolutely feels niche and much more expensive than it is. I am enjoying this blind buy!
The bottle is atrociously designed, but for $8 at discount I’m really not complaining.

    Hi All,
I’ve sprayed Rebelle the first time last night and it passed the overnight test.
I can still smell the dry down when I woke up earlier this morning.
So now I have 3 Rihanna’s perfumes : Reb’l Fleur, Rogue and Rebelle.
I love love Reb’l Fleur and Rogue is growing on me. Then Rebelle is another win.
As samantham123 said below, it’s warm and buttery.
On initial spraying, I immediately smelled strawberry and ginger. I come to like ginger in fragrances I suppose. It’s sweet and warm, not cloying just instant love. Took 5 minutes for the middle notes to appear and as usual this stage lasts longest on me.
I can definitely smell patchouli, of all the patchouli containing fragrances I have, Rebelle gave the clearest patchouli but it’s paired nicely with cacao, added a tad bit of coffee. All the while strawberry remains detectable just as an outer layer.
The traces of base note that I can smell after wearing this overnight is ambery musk.
Such a great fragrance from Rihanna! Again!
So far for me it seems to be long lasting and with moderate sillage. Of course you should not overspray or the patchouli will be a monster.
Rebelle will be very special worn for night occasion but I’m wearing it for work today and with the cloudy sky I feel like being embraced in a warm alluring veil.
    Happiness!
PS: For me, when I spray more than once (and let’s admit, it’s hard to spray perfume only once right?) the patchouli will take center stage for up to 3 hrs and then cacao, coffee, warm butter notes finally appear afterwards. I think I will not buy any patchouli heavy projecting perfumes for the time being while wearing Rebelle often. Thankfully on me the patch is high pitched yet non-nauseating. Just like rubbing herbs on skin until they heat up. Test before you buy as patch can be different on each person.

Ok so have reviewed this already, but it was in the throws of a hot Oz summer when i purchased it so as much as i loved it on first sniff, its been sitying dormant in my wardrobe until a cooler day happens, as i could rell straight up that if wor in heat, this would probably be nauseating and headache inducing. Today was finally the day, a cool sunny April morning, perfect.
And Omg this is lovely, creamy, warm, coco buttery, slightlyberry sweet with a dry coffee drydown. Its so unlike any celeb scent ive tried and ill say it again, this could pass as one from one of the big boy niche brands, if someone didnt know any better. I also endes up repurchasing my reb’l fleur, which is my warm day alternative to this one. I sprayed lightly on my wrists at about 8.30am and its 3.30pm now and its still going so no complaints with longevity either. I keep getting creamy wafts of it as i move around the house. Still would not recommendblind buying if strong, non sweet scents are NOT your thing, but if you want something a bit different then i urge to give this a go

I tried liking this as i have Reb Fleur…which i quite enjoy. I don’t understand how this is a gourmand….it smells very spicy to me and hate to say it, very masculine and brings to mind ‘Old Spice’ afterhave my dad used to wear lol.
Back to the store it goes!

Rihanna and Britney are the celebrity with the best perfumes.is you looking for something that smell nice it’s long lasting and cheap this is your people. REBELLE IS VERY VERY GOOD PERFUME AND A LONG LASTING..

Cocoa, coffee, strawberry. Yep. And it is fabulous! I get the coffee note more prominently than I do in, say, Black Opium or Britney Private Show, which is good. This also has a distinct patchouli note which I of course appreciate. I’d classify this as a darker gourmand; it has a bit of mystery and sex appeal. A great celeb offering!

This fragrance smells like heaven and a love dungeon. I don’t know why I have put off so long in purchasing her fragrances. This is beyond the sugary boring celebrity fragrances. Hers and Ariana Grande’s are some of the best celeb fragrances. This smells like a high end sweet designer fragrance. Puts me in the mind of paco rabanne xs. This one is more spicy oriental some cocoa 😉 <3

I’m not sure if I would wear it more often, but totally agreed that it is an unique combination of scents (could be called weird to some people) as I haven’t quite smelled anything like it ever. May try to layer it with something else for experiment as I think it alone, is more masculine on me from the opening with the very dominant bitter coffee and cacao…(I know that it is a very long shot, but its opening did remind me of Tom Ford’s “style” in creating fragrances for men 🙂 The scents do get better with time in the dry down. It can definitely be next to Rogue as the “exotic” ones. Not a “safe” recommendation for blind buy though.
Just scored a 1 oz 30 ml bottle at Marshalls for $8 plus tax. What the heck! Even though I like the dry down better, as the strawberry and plum started to show in the back stage, but won’t upgrade to a bigger size bottle anytime soon. I still LOVE the plum note in Marc Jacobs Decadence the best compared to this one. And I like cacao, coffee notes in other sweeter fragrances.
It does however live up to its name though: Rebelle 🙂

totally unique and weird; a little fruity plum in the top then tart strawberry with dry dry coffee and dry dark chocolate; not sweet though, almost medicinal spice; some musk, hint of orchid, little patch, touch of ginger; this does not smell like a fruity gourmand scent, this is an acquired taste
