This fragrance works magic. I don’t have much left but when I wear it I get stopped by people everywhere I go. You wouldn’t think it at first sniff but it works really well in summer, the notes unfold differently and feel a little more decadent in summer.

An old favorite of mine. However, I did come to question how the scent hit others when a co-worker scrunched her nose at me and asked, “Are you wearing some kind of bug repellent?”
    I loved it.

This was the most wonderful fragrance for men that Lauder ever created. It is a sin that this was ever discontinued but it was probably because it didn’t sell as well as Lauder for Men. Metropolis is an exceedingly elegant herbal and fresh melody with a lovely and unique bouquet that has never been, and probably never will be, duplicated again. I have only a little left and I wear it as a treat for myself. Shame on Lauder for not giving this gem a second chance.

Ah, the 1980s and an afternoon at the mall led me to the Lauder bar when this was launched. I believe it was my first big purchase. It was a departure for the brand as Lauder For Men was successful. This was a very good follow up. It wasn’t around very long.
I have to go off of my memory on the notes. It was summer and there was no problem with heavier compositions at the time. It was actually very cool and fresh upon opening. It moved into the darker woodland notes which were pretty common for the time. It was a Powerhouse epic that lasted all day. I always wondered if Superman wore this?
The bold move by Estee Lauder to launch a men’s line was never repeated. The skin care line was extensive. Aramis was the official men’s line, right? For one brief moment I was a “Lauder Guy”. Contradictory as it seemed I was quite proud.

Funny story on this my aunt saw this at the Estée Lauder counter back in the 80s with my mum they both sprayed themselves with it and were in horror when the rep said …”oh that’s for men”
