Description

The touch of gold this time comes with Avon‘s Rare Gold. It opens with notes of ylang-ylang, freshly sweet bergamot, and mandarin, with heart wrapped with purely sweet jasmine, orange blossom, lily of the valley, tuberose, gardenia and aldehydes. The base brings woodsy notes of sandal wood, amber and powdery vanilla.

In line with the name, the bottle is colored in golden nuances. Rare Gold was launched in 1995 and comes as 50ml (1.7 fl.oz.) EDP.

I like it but it’s heady and golden/ white floral/ vanillic. Like a less opulent Poeme. Winter is the season for Rare Gold. I have not smelled all the other ” Rare” Avon line but the notes in this seem most likely to suit me.
All in all very nice there’s a hint of something a bit woody or dusty at the very end of the notes much like the base in Sensuous Nude but it’s slight enough that I can still enjoy this perfume. Probably the amber/ sandalwood combo.

Although it smells more yellow golden floral with an ambery base, i’m surprised that it’s full of white ones, but regardless, it smells so nice. This reminds me of fall a lot, even the color says so.

i was really disappointed when i got the perfume , this i straight up amber , i like heavy perfumes like attraction and far away and i have never had a problem , but rare gold gave me a straight headache and everyone who’s around me hated it it is powerful in a bad way , i don’t smell vanilla nothing beside amber . bad choice never purchase this again

This is the first time that I’m welcomed with a splash of rubbing alcohol from an Avon fragrance (it might that it wasn’t properly taken care of by the distributors here in DR. It’s frickn hot!!!), but I liked it:strong and sharp like an 80’s/90’s perfume. when it reached the dry down, I didn’t like it at all!!!! there’s this flower that i don’t like the smell of. My great-aunt has a tree of this flower and every time it blooms, the whole porch and near by areas smell like this. It is a very sweet, strong, flowery smell. Everyone loves it, except me.
I don’t think is bad fragrance, but it isn’t for me. Rare Pearls suit me better, but I don’t think I will repurchase that one either. I will stick to the older fragrances that my mom and my grandma used to wear.
    Cute bottle, though.

Sophisticated and sensual. However, it is not my usual type but I like it. I also like the bottle design.
I have a second bottle of 50ml, NEW, if someone interested in having it, would be happy for a swapping 🙂 PM me if you have questions 🙂

I have an older bottle of the parfum strength, in a fan shaped bottle with fan shaped stopper.
It’s a lovely perfume, slightly dated, but nice. Very rich and opulent. I think one of my aunts wore it, it smells very familiar.
It opens with fruit and ylang-ylang. The sourness of the citrus fruit fades first, then leaves a sweeter nectar-ish fruit note.
It dries down to a sweeter, spicy, fruity floral with a kind of honey smelling note. I’ve smelled other fragrances from the early-mid 90s which have the same feel to them.
I love that genre of fragrances.
Being a parfum with dab-on stopper, sillage is very poor. Within your personal space bubble, which is expected. Staying power is good. It lasts through a date or evening out. If I put it on at bedtime, I can still smell it faintly in the morning. Which, again, is usual and expected for a parfum.
I am looking forward to trying this fragrance in the spray formula, to see how close it comes to the parfum.

This fragrance took me some time to understand. The top notes are a sour punch in the nose. I’m wondering if this is tuberose? I generally like tuberose but whatever is in the opening of this actually bothers my stomach. After about 20 min you will get a rich white floral peachy scent that is very good. However, because of the opening This is my least favorite of the Avon “rare” series.

Rare Gold is a rich and opulent fragrance with sunny ylang ylang, juicy peach, heady white florals, and warm amber. As others have said, this really smells more expensive than it is. This is not a shy perfume and is best to wear during the cooler months. A well done bargain fragrance from Avon.

There is nothing soft or light about this perfume..
    I can detect honey , orange,Jasmine…
It reminds me a little bit of “giordani gold” by oriflame..
but this one (rare gold) is stronger..
I like it .. but it’s not for everyday use..

I’ve been wearing this on and off for about 5 years and have 1/3 left of a 50ml Gold Capped bottle. I think this is an absolutely lovely fragrance. I’m sad they changed the bottle style, but I have so many perfumes I’m not sure when I’ll honestly be in the market to get another bottle. Its sweet, citrusy, white floral with a woodsy amber base. I think it may have been Avon’s dupe of ET’s Diamonds and Emeralds because the notes are so similar and it came out two years afterwards. I had no idea, and have been wearing this for so long I honestly prefer it, but if I smell them side by side Rare Gold gets lost in the notes of the other fume. If you like warm, sweet, citrus, white flowers, hints of woods, or Amber give this a try!

Just tried Bronzed Amber Obsession by Bodycology and find it to be so similar to Rare Gold. Also thinking I agree with other reviewers as to the similarity to Far Away.

I loved Rare Gold years ago, thought I would still love it, so ordered some and got it last week. I’m disappointed because I’m not getting the thick warmth of this fragrance anymore. The bottle looks different too, it use to be in a rounded bottle with a fancy cap that had a blob of gold on the top. I’m almost certain that the fragrance in the rounded bottle smells different,  because I can’t identify this fragrance now.

I just picked up the deodorant and was pleased that it smelled so much like Far Away.

Everytime I wear this perfume, people just tell me it smells delicious and think its an expensive perfume. I really like it and think its another gem from Avon

  16. :

A sophisticated, sensual scent without going overboard. Not an old lady fragrance, in my opinion, and thankfully not a sugary one, so it’s perfect for a confident, adult woman. Modern and satisfying. Very affordable for an EDP and I like to layer it with the lotion. Smells expensive. Reminds me slightly of Poeme by Lancome, which I used to wear when it was released in the 90’s, and while it’s not as heady and linear as Poeme, RG is still a rich, warm wear. I definitely have to be in the mood to wear such a luxurious perfume, so it’s not my top choice for an everyday fragrance, but I would recommend Rare Gold if you gravitate toward strong, sexy florals with a kiss of amber.

  17. :

Definitely not an expert nose here. This perfume reminds me of Givenchy Organza. Rare Gold is a great bargain!

I just received this perfume from a dear friend of mine. I have the old formulation I believe, in the classic bottle with the golden gem on the cap. The fragrance itself is light, but lasts a moderately long time on my skin. The initial scent I get from this is peach, tuberose, ylang ylang, amber, and a hint of jasmine. The aldehydes aren’t noticeable to me. This is a creamy, smooth, elegant floral scent, it’s a little on the mature side but not “old-ladyish”. Overall I adore it! For such a low price this one is tasteful and classic, something I can wear for all occasions. I agree that at first it opens with a generic “perfumey” smell, but as it dries down it becomes such a soothing feminine scent with just the right amount of white florals, with a touch of sweetness. This one is extremely wearable for me, I can see myself spraying this on sunny spring mornings, on the weekend, or even out to a family dinner. Loving it so far!
    Scent: 8/10
Longevity: About 5 hours, not bad for the price. Can always spritz some more in the middle of the day.
Sillage: Soft, it’s subtle but still noticeable to myself and others.

I love it! Very feminine, soft and elegant. You can wear every day it’s quite long lasting. This is a sweet and powder category perfume.

I’m reading the notes and I can hardly believe they refer to Rare Gold!!!
Ylang-ylang? Extremely watered-down, non-irritating, dominated (thankfully) by bergamot – that’s what it is! Plus some melon, carnation and delicate white flowers.
NO vanilla, NO amber, NO sandalwood whatsoever… just fruity/floral freshness with a tiny addition of some high quality aldehydes. I’ve got the “vintage” round bottle – I’m not sure it makes the difference…
It is a really precious fragrance, the “big-nineties” one, I’m happy to have it, despite using it only occasionally, but it is a must!!!:)

This review is for the Oval bottle of RG by Avon.
Rare Gold by Avon is a luxury perfume.
    A rich white floral.
It reminds me of Amarige de Givenchy vintage (splash bottle) with much peach and ylang ylang a richer edition also of Tresor de Lancome vintage.
Thanks to a Fragrantican friend I discovered this fabulous scent and soon I will have my bottle in my hands!
It relaxes me and takes me back to the bold 80’s even if this perfume it is made in the 90’s.
For it’s price it is very, very good perfume.
I didn’t expect from Avon something like this!
It is the perfume for fruity-floral lovers, for those who want something chic to wear to a romantic night out.
    Thank you Ioli19❤

smells reallly good. The orange blossom in most of the perfumes is what makes it so good. Smells classy, sophisticated & inexpensive for the price. I would buy this again. A little goes along way. Just one spray on you’re sweater and it’s there all day. My husband loves it too.

  23. :

It reminds me of Diamonds and emeralds ET, maybe because of a peach, but it’s less sweet, and it is softer. Like both of them, but ET more….

This is one of the first perfumes I ever had 20 yrs ago and I bought it again recently. It has changed slightly, not as strong and lost some of the warmth but is still beautiful. Loving it more now I’ve had it a few weeks. It is a mature/classic sort of scent without being old fashioned. Its a bit like Vanderbilt but warmer and not as overpowering. It doesn’t smell cheap even though it isn’t expensive. Love it.

  25. :

    5 out of 5

I got some sample vials of this, I’ve put some on my wrists and its still there six hours later.
I think it’s a linear scent, no top middle and base, and its a lovely floral mix, it works, doesn’t smell cheap or poor quality.
It has a formal quality about it to me. I think it would be good for someone working in an office environment, or going to some kind of formal event.

  26. :

Rare Gold has been reformulated. It used to have a heavy dose of peach, tuberose, and the musk base which I so dislike in many of the older Avon creations. It didn’t ruin Rare Gold for me as the amber and sandlewood melted it down into a deep, rich, quite sophisticated scent for the price. However, it’s now all about orange blossoms and amber and I’m glad they updated it without losing the warmth. Still a very good buy for the fall and winter season and more on trend for a casual lifestyle.

  27. :

It’s tooo woodsy for me. I wanted to try sooo long, but it’s nothing else, like a cheap, old lady scent. This frag reminds me of Vanderbilt parfume but, but not that rich, and soft like the V. one…

Delicate & pretty. Very feminine orange flower perfume with decent longevity @ 4 hours! One of Avon’s best IMO.

Rare Gold was a blind buy for me, and I am so glad I got it. This is a lovely ylang ylang perfume, with Sandalwood, which to be honest has never been something I have liked very much before. It smells like an expensive high end perfume to me. Longevity is good for my perfume eating skin, 5-6 hours! And moderate sillage. It’s a warm and cosy perfume that would be good for duvet days. I particularly love the ylang ylang note, as my skin seems to love this note….I can’t say its like anything I already own, maybe slightly reminiscent of Intimately yours by Beckham. I dont own many Avon Perfumes, but this one will definately be re-purchased when I run out.

First spray of this was a lovely golden tuberose, perhaps some lily. But as it’s drying down it’s getting more and more synthetic and “perfumey” in a way that’s not attractive on me at all. 🙁

The original bottle was gorgeous. I don’t like this new one. Looks very, very cheap

  37. :

    4 out of 5

A beautiful luxurious white floral from the beloved cheapie fragrance line Avon. This scent starts off with a nice peach note and then I smell gardenia, jasmine and tuberose. The gardenia flower in this scent smells like vanilla. But there is also vanilla especially at the end so it feels like a white floral bouquet with vanilla. A tad like Poeme by Lancôme but less sharp and more subtle. Very sweet, and soft but detectable to others. I think it’s gorgeous and lasts all day. I’ve received many compliments on it. Avon, who knew.

It was summer 1997 when I first tried this fragrance – I loved it. Several years later they change the bottle design and the scent – I did not like it. It’s like a beautiful smiling girl became older and serious. I have not tried the new reformulation in the new bottle.

  39. :

    3 out of 5

I first had this fragrance in 1995 and loved it. I wore it during a special time in my life after my son was born so it holds happy memories for me. I recently tried it again and feel that it has changed a bit – more fruity top notes rather than the floral ones of 1995. I noticed on the Avon UK website they describe it as “Golden Melon” which wasn’t the description in 1995. I remember it as a lovely floral bouquet with orange blossom central. I suspect this could have been Avon’s answer to Lancome Poeme and/or Estee Lauder Beautiful – also gorgeous golden floral perfumes. I still like it very much now I have got used to it again. Half an hour or so after spraying it smells similar to how it used to and I still find it a sunny and cheerful fragrance. Good silage and lasts 3-4 hours on me.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

I love it in the bottle, but putting it on, it just feels perfume-y. It’s pretty with no off-putting notes. It’s dated in a good way, and it is a floral version of Mackie. It’s worth the sale price. If you are mature enough not to rule this out based on its manufacturer (Avon) or the fact that it is not on-trend, you will probably have a positive experience. This is a solid “like” but far from “love.” Am I smelling something like Claiborne’s Vivid in this fragrance, or is my scent memory faulty?
    Longevity: 7/10
    Scent: 6/10
    Overall: 6/10

  41. :

It is aptly named. Smells golden thanks to the peach and amber. The aldehydes and florals are there too. I’m enjoying Rare Gold on this absolutely frigid but sunny day here in Canada right now. -39 with the wind chill. This makes be feel warmer.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

So I had this perfume for some time now and decided it was appropriate to give it a review.
On me Rare Gold begins as a strong white floral fragrance (accenting on the tuberose here). The aldehydes are also quite prominent . But I think that true beauty here is the juicy peach note which gives it a more light and sunny feeling.
Initially this is quite strong, so if you care for the people around you, I advise you to spritz sparingly. After time Rare Gold develops into an airy, light, soapy sent that is reminiscent of honey and flowers. The longevity is about 5-6 hours and the sillage is moderate to strong on me.
I also noticed that when I spray RG on my hair or my clothes I get more of a honey -peach scent in contrast to when I apply it on my skin. Then it turns into a more of an opulent tuberose aroma.

I also tried it and its like far away, horrid smell u want to get rid of it just after u have sprayd it, its long lasting, so be careful! My mom asked what stinks here and yes, its pure hate in a bottle.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

Big ylang-ylang and tuberose flowers sweetened with peach and loaded with aldehydes. I would group it with the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Red Door power perfumes. It gave me a headache within seconds so I could not bear it long enough if there are sandalwood and amber (both I love) in the drydown. I can only imagine that the vintage were gloriously beautiful or Rare Gold would not have lasted these many years. Not for me.
    One spray on me
    Sillage: arm’s length with trail
Longevity: had to scrub off but would guess at about 4 hours
    Rating: 1/5

  46. :

    5 out of 5

I was an “Avon lady” when Rare Gold was released in the ’90s and was instantly a fan. So sophisticated and warm. It lasted forever on me. I had about 4 promo bottles laying around at one point. Wish I had them now.

  47. :

    5 out of 5

I have quite mixed feelings about this…somehow everything with orange flower smells super soapy on my skin. Under the strong soap scent there is a nice floral that just cannot get through. Guess I just have to keep on experimenting with it.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

Oh the importance of trying it on oneself! It smelled so different at the nozzle than it shortly did on me after two spritzes. Within minutes, I could not get the memory of my middle school years and the adoration so many of us had for the Gloria Vanderbilt EDT we all used to wear along with our GV jeans! It wasn’t an unpleasant memory but it certainly wasn’t what I was expecting or hoping for (based on others’ descriptions and the notes listed). Ah well. Still on the hunt for my signature floral-fruity-gourmand-oriental signature fragrance!

  49. :

    4 out of 5

It’s highly likely that they reformulated Rare Gold as well, so I believe it’s time for a back-up.
I haven’t smelled a recently produced version -or haven’t yet seen a new/different bottle- but that’s the case with Rare Pearls according to what people say, and I believe in my area Rare Gold comes in still the same shape.
I believe I’ve been a bit unfair towards Rare Gold in the past, finding it somehow artifical or Pledge like. But my bottle is 4 years old and the juice maturates SUPERB. It only gets better in time like it ripes. Every bit of sharpness is gone and it truly smells like a high end fragrance. Tuberose, gardenia, jasmine, peach, amber, all superb together.
A very feminine, creamy, lovely fragrance. I think I’ll be rushing to my Avon’s rep to get one more bottle before it disappears!
Edit: Whoa, there we have a big picture of the new bottle and a new category for the scent “floral aldehyde” which was floral oriental once ago!

  50. :

I’m not sure which perfume it reminds me of, but too me it’s a much more bearable version of a certain type of ‘mature’ perfume I’ve always found too ‘old-lady-ish’ and funky. i think one of those was perhaps l’air du temps? Anyhow, It makes me feel quite elegant but it’s not ‘delicious’ to me, I’m looking for something that will make me have to keep sniffing my wrist haha

  53. :

Rare Gold was a blind buy for me, and a very good one at that. This is a very lovely ylang ylang/sandalwood scent! I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but it’s slightly reminiscent of Ysatis, IMO. Perhaps a “sunnier” version of it? It really does smell more expensive than what it is! I got pretty good longevity out of it, around five hours with moderate sillage. My skin amplified the ylang and sandalwood and I kept getting nuances of peach to “brighten” it up. It’s a warm, sexy scent that would be good for nuzzling. I think one could possibly wear it year round if they adjusted the application. Overall, I’m highly satisfied with my Avon purchase and if you love ylang ylang, do try it!

I used this the entire summer of 2005. I over sprayed but I was blissfully unaware. When someone said they smelled me coming from a mile away I took it as a compliment. It smells like oranges and sunshine, some flowers and amber in the dry down. It’s very long lasting and projects very very well. Smells more expensive than it is. If you over spray it can take on a dated feel I think, but if you apply with a light hand its glorious. I recently got a bottle for nostalgia’s sake and sometimes, I just sniff the cap just to be transported back to 2005. It was a great year.

This reminds me instantly of Chloe the original. I can smell the tuberose strongly and also the yellow florals. I got this in the same pack as Rare Pearls, and it’s suddenly clear to me why they are named as they are! Pearls= white floral, gold = yellow florals.
Sadly i have never really liked the yellow florals ( i adore white florals though!) but my mother in law loves Chloe the original fragrance. Seeing as she has just moved house and mislaid her perfume in the move, i gifted her my bottle of this and she adores it. No doubt it’s a refined, pretty, elegant scent but it just wasnt my cup of tea.

  56. :

I have many expensive scents, but the only one that receives more compliments than Rare Gold is Paloma Picasso (my signature). It smells far more expensive and luxurious than it’s minimal price would suggest. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

RG is a journey into a realm of wealth, luxury and opulence. A decadent concoction of fragrant jasmine wrapped in warm, glowing amber and vanilla creates an impression of a beautiful woman, decked in her finest jewels, luxuriating in soft, gold colored satin sheets. It has an appeal that is seductive yet never tacky or without class. Two light spritz and it will create a gentle aura that stays with you all day long. Absolutely beautiful. Definitely Avon’s finest moment. If one doesn’t know any better it could be mistaken for a high end perfume. And indeed it is in all but price. So do give it a try. It would be an olfactory experience you’ll never forget.

to me, this only smells bearable when im at a club. and i think sillage is ok and smells fine in such a closed place. but nowhere else. it gives me nausea with so many weird flower scents (tho’ i love flower scents) and it doesnt get better with the last notes. i tried a couple of times to see if i change my mind, in summer and autumn..no, its just weird, not fresh not sweet not creamy. and also it lasts longer than avon’s other perfumes which is not a good thing in rare gold’s case. id like it more if it faded away quickly and left a lighter scent behind.

Here in Brazil, there were a lot of flower fragrances of Avon, like Rare Gold, Treselle, Christian Lacroix, Crystal Aura, Dream Life, Far Away Dreams, Incandessence, In Bloom, Millenia, Perceive, Forever, Step into Sexy, Starring, Women of Earth, Eternal Magic Enchanted, Today and many others…but all of them were descontinued. Unfortunately, these precious fragrances gone, and some poor fragrances stay…

It smells like a stronger Versace Jeans Couture, the peach and honey are the most dominant notes in this for me, very nice for warm weather

This scent is interesting, when my friend wore it it smelled like fresh fruits, really lovely. So I bought it and on me it smells very flowery but no fruits. But it’s still very wearable and long lasting, good value for money.

This has been reformulated and in my humble opinion, for the better. I have the original and the current formulas. The original is an oily, bombastic tuberose and peach fragrance. The current is orange blossom honey and amber. I prefer the current formula but definitely appreciate the original for being a product of it’s time (1995).

  64. :

I had this once years ago, and must have gotten rid of it. I just found a brand new bottle today, and now I see why I got rid of it. I can see why a lot of ladies would like this, but it’s just not “me”. Way too much white and yellow floral in this for me. I want to like it, but I just can’t get there. My box states that this was made in 2002, but the first review, way down below, says the original bottle with the fan shape top, smelled much better. I think my original bottle was the “original” formula, but I obviously didn’t love that either. This bottle I just got, does have the golden bauble type top, so maybe there was a formula change? After two tries with this perfume, I’m hanging it up with this one.

this is truly a feel good fragrance. It uplifts your mood even when nothing else does.

  66. :

Well, I gave it a shot based on reviews. I heard some people saying that it smelled very “mature.” The rumors are true. I think I will give it to my mom. She may like it. It kinda reminds me of a “Youthdew” type fragrance which my mom loves. I have Rare Pearl too, and that one was actually nice. I would recommend Rare Pearl before Rare Gold, although who knows, maybe I am biased because it reminds me of my mom’s perfume and I associate it with matronly and nothing else. I just sprayed it again and now it is reminding me of some sort of airfreshener. A floral/spicy one. Also reminds me a little of Rapture by Victoria Secret.

I get a Red Door-ish vybe on the dry down. The limited edition reformulation not the original and just like that one, this turns my stomach! Promptly got rid of it.

Rare Gold right now is TUBEROSE on my skin. Gosh, is this the maturation, a warm summer night, or merely my chemistry? I don’t know; all I know is Rare Gold smells truly classic and way more expensive than it is.
Gardenia, jasmine and sandalwood are also detectable to my nose and lovely too.
Indeed I may skip buying a bottle of Givenchy’s Organza -which is on my wish list-, as Rare Gold smells quite similar to me now.

The truth is that this perfume is good. Smells like blossoms of white flower with amber and ylang ylang but to me its good only when i smell it in the bottle. When the perfume comes to my skin its smells awfull the amber is too sharp and sour and this ylang ylang sharp as a knife. Everyone beging me not to wear it cause its smell so bad to me. I gave it to my sister. I prefer Rare Pearls or Rare Diamonds…

I just got this and am immensley pleased. It smells amazing and has completely changed my mind about Avon perfumes. I do own a few, but they were lackluster for the most part… or just not the right scent for me. This one has that red berry under note that I *LOVE* even though it’s not listed as a note. Maybe my nose just doesn’t know what white floral smells like. I do not know. But I love it.

I love that of all the expensive perfumes I own this is the one scent that never fails to prompt my husband to ask what it is that I’m wearing. £7 – bargain!

This scent is absolutely delicious. Its so feminine and pretty. This is a scent that I do not regret purchasing and that will become a staple in my perfume collection. I love to find great little perfumes like this that are a true unexpected treasure.
The amber and musk are the most prominent to me. It smells very creamy. I can also smell the flower components which is great. Great Job Avon.

NO-OOOOOO-Body does AMBER quite like Avon !!! The amber, musk, vanilla accord seems to accentuate so very many of the greatest Avon fragrances.
This fragrance reminds me of all that is so great about Avon. The word “cheap” or ANY derogatory word ever uttered Avon ought to shatter & crumble in the presence of this great creation. If some noses are not akin to this treasure, then I would chalk it up to an unschooled/knowledgeable olfactory center or wearer. I doubt this is a fragrance for immature noses or women. It is far too complex & “old school” to appeal but to the utmost discriminating women. For this is one amber, musk, vanilla accord that Avon built an empire on.
No one does amber blended with all types of other base accords quite like Avon. It seems Avon took the amber accord of Tabu & made it tasteful & Ladylike—acceptable to all—that drank in this accord. But these women were WOMEN that dared to walk out into this world smelling this good. Usually things like this were hidden for the boudoir & not the office or church. But this golden juice is so very good, who could not fall for it’s ylang-ylang opening, laced with peaches so ripe they are bursting forth onto a bed of smouldering amber?
Each and every note unveils itself as only Avon does. But the big thing that strikes me again about Avon—when they do a vanilla note, in the faintest hint of the base—that is when Avon does it the best. The vanilla accord is the last holdout & when it unveils it is anything but that came from handling a rolling pin. This is not dime-store vanilla. It is vanilla for one like me that is NOT usually favorable to vanilla. I hate that vanilla-extract note in Beyoncé & other celeb frags. But the amber/sandalwood accord that leads to the vanilla draw in the nose very close. And it comes across as very feminine & hypnotic rather than the knock-you-out celeb frags of today. You must wait for that delicious vanilla accord. And THIS is that what smites & draws in closer with the most delicious vanilla accord which is only detectable with snoot planted on skin. The blend of amber & vanilla to peek amongst all the wood anchoring the ylang-ylang that Anais Anais promised, seems like a too-huge order to fill. But Bare Gold teaches Anais-Anais Cacharel a lesson on some legevity—which Anais Anais never delivered. So if you want ylang-ylang to deliver more, reach for Rare Gold.
This is an utmost classic—much like the great movies & other things I can experiencce & collect.
I want to experience the best while I can. And this one is in my top 10. A lesson on how to do amber!!!! Get it while you can.

I’ve always considered that ‘Rare Gold’ was one of the most elegant perfumes by Avon. It’s pretty heavy and floral – but all in all, it’s great.

I am not Avon fan, but this one is surprisingly nice, sweet, fruity floral, nothing alhydric there, smells good for 8 $ and happy.

Being the southern USA girl I am, I confess to loving everything big, gorgeous, rich and long-lasting. Although I am a Frag Freak and love scents from all categories, I tend toward the whopper spicy orientals in cooler weather, cool chypre fruity/florals in the warm season. What bayou girl can resist oak moss for goodness sake? It’s “home”. Mossy oak trees and magnolias. We are born and raised with strong smells all around us. Spicy food, almost suffocating yet heavenly, super heady florals and the smell of wood and earth is everywhere.
    This is why..
I ADORE Rare Gold. Sans wood and moss I don’t get much of here, this is the smell of southern summer flowers in full bloom. Their scents are captured right in this bottle and it is pure luxe. Yes, it is sweet, juicy, big and bloomy, and that is exactly what I love about it. I detect honeysuckle, carnation and gardenia very clearly in this one along with the occasional hint of roses. Only gardenia is listed as one I detect but the others are wrapped in a floral aldehyde blend. They are definitely there and I know this without making the stuff, therefore my intro. The peach is not a st
