Description

Private Affairs is led by the brand’s slogan as it “separates the men from the boys,” aiming at successful, elegant and serious men. Its composition is inspired by the smell of an expensive sports cars’ leather seats. It opens with refreshing bergamot that leads to the extravagant leather heart note. The sensual and gentle woody base wraps the whole composition, adding notes of cedar and sandalwood.

The bottle’s design is classical and simple. It follows the Strictly Private’ shape, but it highlights black and silver shades instead of gold. Baldessarini Private Affairs is available as a 50 and a 90 ml Eau de Toilette with additional body care collection that includes a 90 ml after shave lotion, a 150 ml shower gel and a 75 ml deodorant.
Private Affairs was launched in 2011.

    Hidden Gem!!!
It smells like fresh out of the package leather goods. Like brand new leather luggage, or purse, or brief case. Before it looses that new store smell.
So basically, it reminds me of shopping. So I am soooooo on board. Yes please

I see this as a real winner for some.
I get a dark almost encre noir like smell in the opening, then some powderness comes through and then some slightly sweet amber comes through.
It develops in reverse and that is really odd. It does seem a little synthetic, but it is pleasant overall.
I kept thinking I was smelling rum and leather overwatching the scent.
I find encre nior l extreme to be much better, but this could be a love for someone else.
Suits the 30 plus crowd IMO.

One of the best real leather scents IMO…not sweet! I am a fan of aromatics..not sweet scents. Today so many scents are overly sweet w/vanilla/tonka etc. This is a mature scent but not an old man scent as is intimated further down. Soft and sophisticated. Dry leather and a bit animalic. which i love. Manly and easy to wear. Not a lot going on and that’s fine w/me….a simple leather..the kind you smell w/great Italian fine shoes. One of my fav purchases in a long time. Price wise its a steal.

I know it reminds me of something i have smelled in the past, but for the life of me i cant put my finger on it. It has a 1970’s 1980’s vibe, of a good quality vintage juice. Something my grandpa or Dad would wear for Sunday mass when i was a kid. I get the citrusy bergomot opening, and 10 minutes later tones down to a soft woody with hint of leather type scent. The image i see with this scent is :
-a man in his late 60’s gray hair, well dressed, retired, smooth shaven, successful, drives a vintage all original car.
This is not a scent for the young crowd. Strictly for the office, or a corporate type setting, and this would make a nice gift for a man above 55yrs plus of age.
I blind bought this at Nordstrom rack for 30bucks. I wouldnt buy it again for myself. and most likely I will spray this on after a late night shower during cold season, to cuddle up with the wifey.

This is a scent that grew on me since I first got it. The projection is weak but you have to spray a little bit more (even up to 10 sprays) in order for it to last and project. Excellent leather note that for some reason reminds me of the smell of the interior of a new car. Worth sniffing out! Beautiful bottle that easily puts Tom Ford’s private blend bottles to shame.
    8/10

Jassar and Rob Frost’s reviews are spot-on. This scent is under-the-radar in that so few folks seem aware of it. I’d call the dry down “smooth,” in that the wood, leather and an ever so-slight powdery effect meld together to create a somewhat dry, fleetingly sweet, airy feel. Maybe it exudes an aura of “approachability” if that’s possible? I can see how many would find it good for office wear or a quiet night out. It’s amazingly inexpensive for what it is, just keep in mind that the longevity and silage may be reflected by this fact. Still, good casual/office wear.

Opens with a short blast of bergamot for 5 minutes then it goes into the mid and base very quickly. There is nothing sharp in this at all. Basically a leathery semi-sweet fragrance that is very masculine. Many will complain about projection but I love it this way.

In three words: sweet, woody leather.
It’s too sweet and warm for summer times or for the office, but nice for cooler, more casual days and nights. The sweetness is prominent, but not overbearing and of the woody, not the citric, fruity or floral kind. The scent isn’t fresh by any means, but not stale or dusty smelling, either.
It’s rather simple and linear than complex, rather uncomplicated than edgy, rather like a supple, light, brown leather jacket than a black, heavy, rigid leather coat.
The sillage isn’t bad. 90 minutes after application one and a half sprays on the back of my hand project stronger than several other scents that I own.
Longevity is acceptable. After three hours, the leather note begins to fade. The sweet woody note stays a couple hours longer, closer to the skin.

PLEASE Baldesarinni, PLEASE U have to do somethin about the never ending LONGEVITY PROBLEM lurking in all your nice fragrances, “strictly private” was wonderful and so is this one but like always it deosnt last at all, atleast not on my skin, I dont know which luxurious guy wouldnt wanna have the whole world know what he is doning and thats a problem if the fragrance disappears in 3hrs tops, YOUR Best SIR is still “Ambre” I wish U would make an edp of it, I would be all over it, by the way, the leather in here is really marvelous and the sillage isnt bad for the first two hours too.

Baldessarini Private Affairs – scent that does not seem hard but not boring, not fresh, it is such a delicate aroma with notes of leather, I’d nearly Light Bandit

The sillage is comparable to most scents, on me its just as good as the sillage of allure sport

Private Affairs carries on the “floral for men” style of Strictly Private. The fragrance starts fruity, but soon becomes powdery – the powderness is formed not by the vanilla, but by leathery base. Definitely, this one is the most leathery scent I’ve ever heard, the mood of leather seats in the car or of the new leather coat here really exists. And I like that this effect is reached without so popular now notes of iris, tonka beans, or other sweet notes. Just leather, some woods, a bit of citruses and maybe musk.
The one problem is that Private Affairs seems to be watery. I wish it were more intense. The sillage is poor, the juicy stays close to skin and is hardly detectable, but at the same time it is extremly comfortable to wear it. The longevity is good.
The scent isn’t very original, but at the same time it doesn’t remind of anything else. Good work.
