I received a sample of Pretty Rotten lotion a few months ago, and I liked it. I decided to order the perfume for the fall, but now this is hitting my nose in a bad way. On the opening, it’s sharp apple, sweet rose, and green freshness. On the drydown, it quickly turns to cheap, powdery deodorant. I need to give this a few more tries, but right now, I’m thinking of giving it away. It reminds me of one of those gas station bathroom deodorizers, and that’s not the scent I want people to associate with me. On the plus side, as with all Tokyo Milk scents, the longevity is zero.

At first I could smell the sour pungent fruity top notes. But the dry down in 10 minutes turned into the smell of straight up baby oil. Not quite baby powder. The baby oil has a slight different smell to it than the powder. And it would not go away.
Why do my favorite perfumes last no longer than 2 hours and the ones I can’t stand linger for all time?! Its an enigma wrapped in a conundrum…

This perfume is both strange and amazing. It’s difficult to describe as there isn’t much I can compare it with. It’s apple, but not fresh apple or candy apple – it’s fairytale apple with all the complexities of the villain attempting to murder the heroine and the heroine coming up with ingenious plans to fight back. It’s a little powdery but not old, a little sweet but not bright, and a little vixen-ish without being try-to-hard seductive.
This is a perfume I wear ‘just for me’ as I go about my day.

Below me the reviewer mentioned not liking the initial smell up close, but the whispy fragrance trail is very pleasant…almost spicy.
The notes seem edible when you read them on here but in all actuality the scent is very “soap and cologne.” It reminds me of something in my very distant past…maybe a child’s mock shaving set my brother got for Christmas when he was 5.
The scent is decidedly brown, like cinnamon and tree bark and burnt sugar, the inside of already bitten apples, fallen leaves…

This perfume slowly grew on me. It’s very aromatic, I sprayed it on in a store and throughout the day would get whiffs. I dont like the way it smells up close, but it wafting around me is heavenly! It’s weird but SO GOOD!

I came across this fragrance on this site. When I saw how strange it was I had to have it. I love original scents especially unisex fragrances.
This one Is hard to explain. I detect all the notes listed. Mostly the rose and I HATE rose fragrances. They somehow managed to keep the rose under control while still allowing it to shine through. It’s a work of art.
    – original
    – unique
    – beautiful
    -truly unisex
    – awesome bottles and themes
    Dry down
    – rose
    – honey

I had no idea what any of the notes of this fragrance were. I was surprised when I looked it up here. I really love this weird fragrance. To me, it smells like over ripe peaches. I really love this and I might need to get a bigger bottle. I get no apple. It is over ripe peaches and deliciously intoxicating liquor on me. LOVE.

This is unique and daring. It’s not mainstream, and for that, I quite appreciate it, though not sure I need it in my life.
This is apple scented shampoo with something a bit dirtier and… Weird. But it’s almost vintage in its soapiness, which makes me almost want it. I can’t decide. A few more wearings might help.
This is not what everyone else is wearing. That’s for sure. It’s one of the things I appreciate about Tokyo Milk. They don’t spend a lot of time worrying about pleasing the masses. They just do unique.

Wearing from a sample.Thought I would like this,as I enjoy honey, and apple, and some rose scents. But nope, the rose is a very soapy rose, and the apple smells like it’s on the verge of rot. So,I suppose like the Shitty Beatles,it’s not just a clever name.
Anywho,I get no honey, which is disappointing, also no sugar, just soapy rose and apple.Thankfully sillage is minimal, and longevity lackluster as well.I must say I have enjoyed the few Tokyo Milk scents I’ve tried, esp.Dead Sexy and Transformation, which are both on my want list. But this? It’s a scrubber, will save the sample to pass on.
Can’t even give this a rating,as it has no points in its favor, for me anyway.

Lets face it: With a name like “Pretty rotten”, you don’t expect “just another gourmand”. You expect escargot or fried cricket legs, if you get my drift…
I quite liked Pretty Rotten. The scent remained pretty linear throughout (not a bad thing) and my most to-the-point description of it, would be “powdery toffee-apple”. (Told you it wasn’t “just another gourmand!”)
It does resemble L’Artisan Parfumeur’s “Traversee du Bosphore” to me. Must be the foodie rosy combination… (Unfortunately it doesn’t last as long as Traversee.)
So yeah, If you’re up for a bit of fun and trying something a little “different”, go for it. No real rotten notes detected here.

    Apple, powdery rose, honey.
I received a bottle of this as a gift, because my husband liked it quite a bit when I tested it in a store.
On the paper tester in the store, it smelled purely like a crisp McIntosh apple. On Christmas morning, on my skin, with the house full of cooking smells all I could detect was a very powdery, soapy rose.
Now that I’ve worn it under lots of conditions, I can say it usually smells equally like powdery rose and McIntosh apples, but under certain conditions one of the two takes over. This perfume is fairly simple and linear, and lasts for around 6 hours on my skin (not bad for Tokyomilk), with projection around arms’ length. After that, it’s a light honey skin scent.
My nose detects no mandarin or forest greens.

I have a tiny sampler of this from Sephora. For a split second, the apple/rose combination is too floral for me. I loathe pure rose scents (in lotion or anything else), and usually prefer vanilla-y for sweet scents. But, within 5 minutes, it grew on me.
My favorite vanilla-musk Christmas present had become slightly thick by March, and I’d been yearning for something a little crisper. Apples it is!

    I have a sample.
    Tempting choice of notes.
From initiate spray, i got juicy, crisp apples (salivated almost instantly)…hoping it gets ” dark & foresty” like i read here. Nope, not mossy, dark or foresty… Weirdly, It smells like Downy April fresh Softener!! It’s a cheerful feeling type of scent that awakens the senses. I then decided to spray some on my clothes and linen to see if it smells differently. Turns out the same as the way i smell it on my skin. It also doesn’t last long, 15-30 minutes and its almost gone. Sillage is of course not as strong either.
The journey takes me straight to the laundry room lol oh well xD Will sprit the rest of it throughout my room and bath 🙂
Please don’t take this as an insult, just what I truly smell. It was nice while it lasted.

I do not like this at all. On me it smells like some sort of cleaning solution.

Beautiful! Gorgeous crisp apple, deliriously beautiful rose, and a lush, rotting vegetation; leaves, bits of bark, greenery. It’s truly divine. Sweet and also a beautiful natural decaying, moist garden smell. Very enriching, with a slight melancholic sense. It almost makes me cry, with happiness!! It’s such a gorgeous perfume.
And I adore the fabulous bottle!!!

I love the opening notes but the scent didn’t last on me at all. It lasted for only an hour and then gone. Pretty Rotten opens up as some very ripe oranges and apples, the latter being much more dominant. This is a very sweet perfume but not offensive, very pleasant but not long lasting. I like it but I’m not too sure if I would repurchase.

I was expecting to be a fan of this perfume as something light and casual for autumn.
Honestly, I don’t get most of the notes.
Here is what’s listed on my bottle:
    Queen amber rose
    Ambrosia apple
    Mandarin
    Forest greens
I get zero rose, zero mandarin.
To be quite frank this smells like a cheap shower. Herbal essence shampoo mixed with Irish spring soap. It’s an okay smell but not at all what I was expecting. I’m disappointed.
On a side note, I don’t know where fragrantica got the honey and sugar notes. They aren’t what’s listed on the bottle!

On me, it smells like crisp fresh apples in the forest with just a hint of the smell of decaying fallen leaves on the ground. The first spray immediately brought to mind “this is autumn”. Not in a pumpkin spice toasted marshmallow kind of way but a more earthy out in nature kind of way. It works really well with my body chemistry, and I loved it enough to buy a full bottle the day after I received a sample. It’s my new fall daytime go-to,

This is the perfect answer to those secretly wishing they could still wear Country Apple body spray well into their 30’s. It’s October and I do not want to wear anything else. It honestly smells like the apple pie from the Upside Down.

This is absolutely enchanting. Fragrantica fails to include the “forest greens” portion of the notes in its pyramid, which is an immensely important part of this composition. In other words, if you want to buy this, read the official notes, as there are more than what’s listed here!
This fragrance is a mythical forest creature. I haven’t decided which one yet. Perhaps it does not yet exists, or hasn’t until now. It is sweet but earthy, in a way I have never smelled. Apple, honeyed rose and a dark, crisp forest make up this composition, and I can’t stop smelling my wrist when I wear it. It sits somewhat close to the skin, as if beckoning others closer, and lasts just long enough to make an impression, but not so much that it never fades. It’s truly a fantastic creature, perhaps dangerous and cunning, yet sweet all the same…

This is the best of their new releases, an enchanting powdery forest apple!

This smelled quite lovely yet strange on me. Despite the notes it smelled very similar to Ma Griffe?!! Weird.
