I picked up this scent yesterday.
    I love the scent.
Unfortunately, after over 24 hours of testing, with repeated re- applications, I have to declare it to have completely useless performance.
What is really incredible is that something that is out performed significantly by cheapies like Lattaffa Oud Mood (£11], and Federico Mahora 335 (£19.99 TF Oud Wood clone) is costing £115/$125 RRP!
I don’t think I even get 2 hours of projection. To get 6 hours of faint skin scent on the back of my hand requires heavy application.
The only “niche” part of this scent is the price. I’m horrified. I wouldn’t eBay this on principle, but will learn my lesson and get and trial a decant next time I consider buying something expensive
My advice, if you’re determined to spend this amount of money, buy 11 bottles of Oudh Salab instead. At least there are real chips of Oud in the bottle, unlike RL who use coumarin as a substitute for Oud. Alternatively, get Federico Mahora 335 from a distributor, or get it online, don’t pay much more than £20 online though!

This is a masterpiece! There is something powdery Vanilla/ Coffee/Patchouli/Cashmere about this Oud. It has decent silage, close sitting fragrance with undeniable lasting power.

Who else caught a teensy whiff of patchouli note? I can’t let my nose deceive me! It’s in there!

Cinnamon, sandalwood, guaiac wood, agarwood and spice… This was only $33 when I purchased it from FragranceNet over a year ago, but it’s no wonder this has more than DOUBLED in price since then! (Currently $73 for a 4.2oz bottle) This scent is impressive, to say the least. It’s a spicy-woody scent lover’s dream come true.
Also, yes, I know there’s no sandalwood listed, but I do get that vibe when I wear it. Also also, I usually prefer to layer this with other dry ouds to calm the cinnamon and bring out the woods. Versace Oud Noir is a good one, but Nabeel King Of Oud is my favorite to layer it with, as it adds a ton of spicy texture to this scent and melds very well with the guaiac wood.
Lasts all day too. What more could you ask for?!

Amazing unique scent that gets you noticed for all the right reasons! Classy and striking and a compliment behemoth.

This is a classy and serious affair. Black suit and good for the boardroom and office. Not as overpowering as other ouds but bold enough to make a statement. Top stuff, for the businessman who knows what he wants

I lost my Oud virginity to this fragrance! This is a great beginner Oud fragrance! It really smells amazing and makes me want to try out some others in the oud genre. I give this an 8.9/10.

  8. :

I have little experience with this note due to the fact that I really do not appreciate the scent of oud as much as some people do. This is my first truly oud-centric fragrance and I feel it is a good one to begin with. The opening is strong and a bit medicinal, gradually evolving into a rich, spicy, blend. The oud is there- a slight skankiness is noticeable if you smell it up close, but six inches out, all the notes blend together well. Pepper, vetiver, and a dry, unsweetened cinnamon combine with that oud to make a classy, mature, somewhat exotic fragrance. This would work well for formal occasions, maybe a night out if your date likes this kind of scent. Longevity is above average, and quite excellent for a RL/Polo release. Definely a nice fragrance- easy to wear and overall very pleasant! I like it.

Nice starter fragrance to try Oud because it’s not the stanky-danky oud that seem popular. this one is a dry/spicy oud
Its a nice fragrance that oud, woody notes, cinnamon, vetiver and pink pepper are present. Mostly linear
    Nice longevity 8+ hrs
    Soft projection fragrance
    Fall and winter
    Day and night
    Office, dates and casual wearing
    Pretty mature fragrance
    7/10

Ran across this in Sephora, gave it a spray and loved it! Took a small bottle home since we don’t have much winter cold left here in Florida this year. Unfortunately, this is the weakest fragrance I think I’ve ever known longevity wise. 40 mins. I sprayed 1 on each wrist, one inside each elbow bend, 2 on the neck and one on the chest and it’s gone I’m 40 minutes. I can’t believe it. Real shame, the scent is right up my alley.

In terms of niche quality, Polo Supreme Oud is up there with the likes of Tom Ford’s Oud Wood. A beautiful winter beast. Save this one for winter everyone. Fall doesn’t really cut it either. Strictly when the temperatures drop and the snow starts to fall.
You could wear this for almost any occasion. An intimate dinner with your significant other, a casual stroll through the winter wonderland, or simply to wear yourself cozied up next to your fireplace with a good book or tasteful drink.

This is the best oud-based fragrance I’ve tried yet, but take that with a grain of salt, since I’ve only tried John Varvatos Oud and Perry Ellis Oud Black Vanilla Absolute so far.
Oud is a fairly sour note, so it needs to be balanced well, and this fragrance accents the oud beautifully with sweeter notes. I don’t see vanilla (or vanilla-like notes) listed in the pyramid, but I definitely smell it in the dry down.
The interplay between the sweet and sour here is very nice. The oud never dominates, which I don’t think it should. It’s more like a crown jewel in this fragrance, surrounded by creamy sweetness and pleasant spice, which gives the oud a chance to really shine.

I’m going off of the Belcam Classic Match so take that for what it’s worth. I found it for $4.00USD in Walmart last year. To that point, I had seen it virtually stocked to gills anytime I’ve went in. I smelt it and liked it but for whatever reason, never pulled the trigger and purchase until I saw the discount and walked away with this steal. It was a steal. Especially since after my purchase, it was never to be seen again.
It is a unique smell which I love. I got it earlier on in my fragrance journey. I have had oud in two other scents Ed Hardy Love & Luck (though it is basically non-existant) and Halston Man Amber which it is there but outweighed by the amber. I am convinced the Ed Hardy Born Wild Palo Verde woody note is oud-like too. It just gives off a similar semi-medicinal smell.
Anywho, back to Classic Match of Supreme Oud… I think it smells inconsistent. At first, I loved the smell of a 1 Million like scent that wasn’t 1 Million with that pink pepper, cinnamon open. I am weird and hate 1 Million itself but love clones of it (The Secret, The Golden Secret and Cuba Royal) or even the flankers 1 Million Cologne and 1 Million Prive. This is similar on opening, but then the oud kicks in when it goes to the mid, which I find is a Dr. Jeckyl or Mr. Hyde on me.
When it is Dr. Jeckyl, it smells awesome. It isn’t overbearing or abrasive at all. It smells mature. It smells luxurious. It gets attention and positive attention at that. It lasts long on your skin up to 12+ hours as a skin scent with up to three hours for a scent that cost at most just under $9USD with tax included. However, it has its Hyde side too and when Mr. Hyde is there, the oud is total BO. It will smell like you have onions coming through your pores. It is gross and will cause people to run. Sadly as I mentioned with Jeckyl, it lasts too.
I’d give Classic Match Supreme Oud a 7.8 out of 10, I originally rated it a 8.9 out of 10, but that was before I found the overly BO side of Supreme Oud. To anyone that has worn proper Polo Supreme Oud, is that oud possible or is it just whatever aroma chemical Belcam used to copy the oud note?

To my nose, this has one of the absolutely WORST openings of any fragrance. I am sure it is the oud and my western nose just can’t abide it. BUT, the drydown on this is completely SUBLIME. I never expected to embrace a fall fragrance that wasn’t overtly woody or tobacco-ey, but this is a GREAT fall fragrance. The slightly sweet cinnamon basenote is really wonderful and the overall scent is very masculine.

    Update:
I wore it for the second time and I was surprised how many unsolicited complements I got, and I realized it has a great longevity, at least on me.
I can tell it does perform better in a colder weather, and it was an unplanned success, for all the Oud fans like me, this won’t disappoint.
    ______________________________________________________
I think this is a good Oud base cologne, nice to wear for dining out with friends like I am doing tonight, I got it delivered at work and I decided to wear it for dinner after my Zegna Acqua di Bergamotto wore out.
It did not make it to my Oud favorites, which are Chopard Oud Malaki and Creed Royal Oud.
Would I restock on it? No I would not, but as first time wearing I can say it does deliver and about longevity, well it’s been barely 4 hrs since I sprayed it on, so it is still pretty alive, but I will find out later, thus far I can say is a good cologne, no regrets.

As EauDeBaldy put it below. When I wear this I feel like an assassin. Ive thought those exact words before I even read his review and called it my assassin fragrance. Its spicy and dark with an Middleastern flair. Very nice.

The cinnamon is somewhat prominent and this keeps things spicy. Even though it’s a commercially launched frag, Supreme Oud reigns supreme for me as it is without the clichéd combo of rose+oud+sandalwood+vanilla and Amber. Very masculine with impressive projection & longevity! Tho’ constructed for postmeridian periods, it could also be worn to office on chilly or wet mornings. Not ideal as a “club scent”, but rather one could rock it for outdoorsy events like date nights, soirees, red carpet shows, award night, brand activations, etc. Ideal for women who love undisguisedly masculine frags devoid of rose, amber, Vanilla and sandalwood.

People compare it to tom ford wood / Versace Oud Noir…. But to me this smells more closer to The Oud/Spicy-sweetness of Tom Ford Plum Japonais
It does have fruity opening with the oud / cinnamon blending with a light incense note
It’s also a versatile fragrance to me also leaning more on the formal side a little not too much I can still see this being worn casually just like all the other pony fragrances

It smells like the Civet mix with Indian Oud or Aquilaria malaccensis.

I’m looking for oud suggestion that doesn’t have a powdery note to it. I’m in love with a warm vanilla type of oud, as I found in Varvatos Dark Rebel, but am dissatisfied with this undertone of powder (and the lack of longevity). I was hoping this one would be a bit better, as I heard the note pairings called “cinnamon.” To me, it’s talcum powder, not cinnamon. I’m open for suggestions, but I just can’t stand the mix. However, I fear that the lack of powdery note might mike an oud resemble a sandalwood. Maybe I just don’t know what oud smells like. Maybe powder is par for the course.

I like it, but it has a gigantic vanilla base note that isn’t mentioned anywhere. Not detectable until your body heats up, or at around the fourth hour of wearing it, but once it turns vanilla, it’s a very big vanilla and in the gourmand sense, which i hate. Love it right up until that point, but won’t repurchase. The opening and mid points are great, and if you’re a vanilla fan, then go for it, but BEWARE if you’re not.

Also – I hate to say it, but the rumors are true. There are a LOT of fakes of this floating around, and the scent of the fake I originally received isn’t even comparable. The oud note is different, dirty, and prominent, which is a dead giveaway that it’s fake. The oud note in the real scent is the same as the oud note in Versace Oud Noir and Tom Ford Oud Wood. The fake bottle also had a poorly applied Polo logo that was bubbled. The outer packaging looked completely legit, but the color of the gold portion was a bit off (darker), and it was even embossed!
DO NOT BUY THIS ON EBAY UNLESS YOU’RE ABSOLUTELY SURE OF WHO YOU’RE PURCHASING FROM!
Be sure to get the real thing! You’ll be glad you did. Also – keep in mind, some of the reviewers likely received the fake.

This is by far the best surprise I’ve encountered out of the last 30 or so scents I’ve sampled! It’s a nice, clean, creamy oud. Very dark, woody, and spicy, but smooth. This is certainly my favorite offering from the Polo brand!
Someone will probably HATE that I’m saying this, but it really reminds me of a spicy Tom Ford Oud Wood. (Notice the “People who like this also like” column lists Versace Oud Noir and Tom Ford Oud Wood at the top of the list.) This is certainly the same oud note, which is a VERY good thing.
If you’re looking for a strong, traditional, middle eastern oud, this is NOT it, however this is a very easy to love oud. Performance for me is also phenomenal! I got 12 hours out of this one yesterday with just the right amount of projection.
I especially love this after the 1 hour mark, when the sweetness fades, the cinnamon begins to smooth out, and the oud notes become more prominent. For that reason, I really hope they release a Polo Supreme Oud Intense version in a year or two! In the meantime, this layers very well with Versace Oud Noir to get that effect from the very beginning.
If you like spicy, dark, woody scents and cinnamon and you’re looking for an alternative to Oud Wood that still uses those same oud notes, give this a try! Also, try Versace Oud Noir and Chopard Oud Malaki, for more closer resemblances to Oud Wood and Tobacco Oud, respectively.

Nice fragrance. Too bad it has poor performance. Could have been a real winner. Ashame. The Oud is sutle and is a good Western frag with great notes but don’t let the edp fool ya like it did me, the performance is awful unless you like skin scents. Good oud frag for beginners.

I bought this one a few weeks back. Definitely meant for the colder weather. With PSO, I find when I wear it, it’s either a hit or miss. I find that where you spray it will depend on how it will project. I find spraying my neck it projects further than on my wrists, which disappears into more of a skin scent after a few hours. I wish this had the longevity like a TF frag where you can feel confident that 1-2 sprays max you’ll know you can smell yourself without it being nauseating. I sometimes have to spray my clothes to know its there. Definitely test before you buy. I feel its worth the price tag simply for the amount you get in the bottle. I also bought it’s brother, PSL which I also like.
In regards to the scent itself, it stays true to the original polo and has that great distinct masculine smell.

I’m currently wearing this one ( November ) and this one is for the time, cooler to colder.
Definitely a black tie affair type of fragrance that will get noticed by men and sniffed heavily by women.
This is the type of fragrance you’d picture a James Bond, Assassin type of looking guy to wear aha.
A great one to have, I’m enjoying it thus far for it being the first time I’ve smelled it.

A nice interpretation of the trendy oud bandwagon. Close to Versace oud, but this one is milder and has that distinctive Poloish aftertaste to it. Like Versace, it starts musky and oudy then tames down to a refined mature scent that has a clean undercurrent to my nose. An oud fan will like this and if you see it at a bargain I say go for it. Overall I give this a thumbs up. Its very very nice.

I see in the apparel brand Ralph Lauren a more conservative approach in the explorantion of new fragrance trends, both for the male audience as for the female one. So it is not surprising that after several brands have jumped into the Oud fashion that the brand then decided to launch his first creation with this theme that pleases the Arab public so much and has gained strength in other markets. Perhaps the time is not the apex of agarwood perfumes, but we are not in decline either.
I like how conceptually the theme of Agarwood has been worked by the brand and the perfumer, putting the accord that recreates the precious and expensive resin in the center but worked in a more abstract and complete manner. The Oud thus gains a well-cut trim, without being fussy, something that lingers in a somewhat linear fashion as one would expect from an Arabic inspiration but shows a somewhat more typical progression of Western perfumery maybe.
Supreme Oud opens with a sweet and spicy impression, something that refers to a cinnamon powder that explores the sweetness of this spice but does not make it too hot or suffocating the skin, receiving support from the fresh, hot and slightly fruity pink pepper. The agarwood aroma appears dry, woody and herbaceous, with musky overtones and you can see that the cypriol plant is largely responsible for this oud impression. Gradually, one sees a more powdery and warm side and intereting incensed nuances, as if the oud chips were being burned to release its aromatic resin in the environment. In a final stage, Supreme Oud shows a sophisticated base mixing a drier woody vetiver and the duality of sweetness and smoked aroma of guaiac wood.
While many creations of Oud show a roughess in the way the work powerful synthetic materials, Supreme Oud mainly favors harmony and abstraction as it evolves. Its smell never shown neither exaggerated nor too subtle and has good length that is expected of a composition of Oud. Although it does not bring in new combinations, its excels in delivering a woody spicy thematic that is very good and consistent from beginning to end.

This reminds me of Ferrari’s Oud Essence, but with the florals removed and made stronger otherwise. I think I like it better with the florals, but it may work well to layer, one spray of each. Anyway, this is one of the smoother ouds, with obvious spice and a hint of amber. I get little of the original Polo here, so I’m guessing that was done to get fans of Polo or a flanker to try an “oud scent.” Judging from the reviews, that may not have been a good idea, if that was the intention. For the right price or in a swap, I wouldn’t mind owning a bottle, but I don’t enjoy scents with an obvious oud note (if mild, and regardless of the type) more than once a week, at most, so to buy at anywhere near retail prices wouldn’t make sense for me, but it might for someone who has no oud scents and wants to try and learn to like it – this would seem to be a good place to start.

I’m actually really liking this one. I got a sample off eBay and have wore it a couple times. Is it the most natural smelling fragrance? No, I’m not gonna sit here and break down the quality of the Oud note either. I am a fan of woody fragrances though and the woody notes in this are great.
I honestly couldn’t care less what they name it or if the name has nothing to do with the scent, call it Supreme Aqua Citrus Apple for all I care. As long as it smells good and performs well, I’m all for it, Polo Supreme Oud does that. I will be getting a bottle of this at some point.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

I was hoping this would restore some much needed pride to the Polo line because to be perfectly honest only the original (Green) is a classic fragrance, the rest are very poor generally with only black (at a push) and double black being to my tastes. Finally tried this and it makes me wonder what some of the other reviewers here were expecting from a Ralph Lauren Polo oud?
Of course you’re not going to the get the most nuanced oud around, you’re probably going to get something in the ‘designer oud’ tradition. ie: Well meaning and pleasant but missing the point slightly and that’s what I think we have here.
I have to disagree with many here and say that I do detect oud especially in the opening, which to me wasn’t too intrusive but I can understand why some wouldn’t enjoy it.
This is not to say that I don’t like Polo Supreme Oud because I actually really do. It has a resinous quality and a slightly tart sweetness coupled with Guiaic wood and cinnamon which make it interesting in my book. As it has dried down it actually reminds of the recent release Floriental from CDG and even some other incense perfumes. It will stand up (and out) against the likes of Oud Noir, Wonderoud, Boss Oud, really bringing something of it’s own to the table.
I’ve got to say I enjoyed this one and the lasting power wasn’t bad at all. I think the subtlety of dying back to a skin scent after a few hours is not necessarily a negative thing. If this was heavily reduced in price I would consider buying because I definitely enjoyed wearing it.

I know everyone will probably think im crazy for this review but… its what I get from it! Just got my bottle in. Sprayed it, enjoyed the intro as it was dark dusty moldy type of smell (old library). Lasted for about 15 minutes and then it started turning a little sweeter.
I was thinking to myself… what is this smell! the mid is reminding me of something I already have. of course not exactly but I feel some resemblance. It finally hit me!
Black Afgano!? I swear I am getting wiffs of that hashy purple type note. I cant explain it but if it was a color, it would be dark purple! lol Anyway… I am enjoying this frag so far! Polo surprised me on this one! 4/5 rating

In less than a year Fragrancenet has it available. It’s around 60 bucks on Ebay for the 125 ml bottle. It looks like this was an epic failure on behalf of RL. The thing is that it’s not a bad scent but the oud is so discreet as cinnamon and guaiac wood are the most notable notes. Kudos to people that get 8+ hours but I have worn my spray sample twice and have never gotten more than 5 while the last 2 hours it’s a skin scent. Would be a safe office scent for cool weather as it has some sweetness but not over the top.

I like designer Oud fragrances. They are exotic enough to turn heads here in the US but not so strange that you offend people that aren’t used to new and strange scents. That’s exactly what this fragrance does. There is a usual boring mainstream modern men’s fragrance vibe with a touch of exoticism. This is a good fragrance for smelling manly but different than your girlfriends ex or all of your buddies. Oud lovers will think it’s mainstream and too westernized, women that you date will think you smell like a Saudi Prince. And all of us here on fragrantica that know a little about fragrance will think you are sitting on the fence between Western and Eastern styles of perfumery.
The pyramid is pretty accurate and I prefer this far and above Boss Bottled Oud in all aspects, it’s more manly than Guccis Oud, and performs far better than Versaces oud. As an all around fragrance it’s one of the best mainstream designer Oud fragrances out right now.

This is nice scent, although not a powerhouse. Becomes a skin scent after only 3-4 hours. More cinnamon than oud but a hint of it is there. Probably not enough to attract die hard oud lovers. If you want want more oud (and better longevity) without going full blast, try YSL M7 Oud Absolu.

@Colin Maillard: “… for being made by Ralph Lauren, this fragrance is a miracle!”
HAHAHA! Harsh compliment but took the words right out of my mouth.

So Ive never smelled authentic oud. My only other oud fragrance is intense oud by Johan so I don’t have much to go by. Intense oud is not bad but it is highly medicinal with a rubber note to it, but I do like it because it is very different and quality for 12 bucks. So I was not sure what to expect from supreme oud but I got a great price on it so it was a blind buy for me.
The initial spray is wow, a lot going on. Smoky, woodsy, medicinal, powerful, resinous, spicy, in one word, luxurious to me. As it settles some sweetness emerges and the scent begins to calm down, a sweet cereal note to offset the medicinal note (the oud accord I’m guessing) and the smokiness. As it settles more a note jumps up that instantly reminded me of pharrells “girl” unisex fragrance: vetiver. It is not listed in the notes so again it either was not mentioned by polo itself or that’s what the oud accord morphs into scent wise.
I absolutely love this fragrance. This would have been worth the full price to me (again when I smell authentic oud I may have a different opinion) i cannot find the words to really encapsulate how much I enjoy this and how it makes me feel. Simply put it exudes masculinity, style, class, wealth, and confidence.
My first fragrance I ever bought was polo green and it remains one of my favorites . Since then I have bought so many of their offerings and the brand has been scoffed at in fragrance communities for lack of inspiration and quality, unfairly so at times. Yes I know everyone is jumping on the oud train so this will be seen as a money grab but I disagree. This fragrance is pure class and it represents Ralph Lauren not only embracing the modern but them stepping up their fragrance profile. It is also a great introduction to oud to the masses, to niche fragrance concepts and to someone like myself exploring oud in great detail. I will also be blind buying supreme leather and cannot wait to see what else the supreme line brings. An instant signature scent and validation for my love of all things polo!!

Polo Supreme Oud by Ralph Lauren: Oud lovers rejoice! This is a very nice presentation of Oud. Pepper and cinnamon open this performance in a perfect blend that allows all top middle and base notes to project equally at the grand opening. The firm standing notes bristle strongly as they electrify the air, their sharp needles projecting the glistening aroma all around you. Although Oud has been a note that has seen heavy use these last decades, It is hard to find an Oud that has been cleverly crafted and mixed brilliantly to be wholly appreciated as the headlining note. It’s just one of those notes that seems to be everywhere. This fragrance succeeds at crafting a well blended Oud. Then the dilemma of whether real Oud or chemically made Oud is better or worse. In the case of Supreme Oud this factor is of no concern, The Oud in this composition just works and it works well. It stands on the grounds of being classy and wealthy. The scent sparks creativity and imagination. The aroma causes the mind to want to drift on the wings of a much desired dream, spurring the mind to creativity and success.
When the scent dries down, only cinnamon bows out, while Oud, Pepper, Vetiver, and Guaiac wood project vigorously throughout it’s entire, extended, longevity. The scent evokes energy, virility, prosperity, glamour and stealth. There is no sleeping or laying around with this scent, it provokes you to move, get out and sweat, run after your dream, or want to go work out hard, this scent stands up well even after a hard sweat. I did not want to shower this off, It lasted well past 12 hours and the sillage was heavy, I smelled this wafting off me all day and night with no sign of going away and because of that I love this fragrance.
Bravo! for Polo Supreme Oud by Ralph Lauren. Well Done!

I received a decant of this and I have to tell you. I don’t like ouds. You never know unless you put your nose on something though. I just don’t like that pure wood smell. To me this smells like the wooden floor inside a barn. In no way should my comments dissuade you from trying Polo Supreme Oud if you haven’t tried it. If you like ouds you might like this. Many others do.
