Poeme Lancome for women of Lancome

Share:

Description

Classic floral oriental fragrance launched in 1995. The structure of Poeme is original, does not follow classic structure of top, middle and base notes. The notes of the composition are appearing alternately, like echo. The composition features intoxicating Himalayan blue poppy, white and yellow flowers (mimosa, rose, freesia…) and vanilla flower. Poeme is a poem in the world of perfumes; the contrasts of bitter and sweet create a special sensual aura. The bottle with this miraculous bitter honey is a synthesis of the contrasts – attractive curves and straight lines.

The nose behind this fragrance is Jacques Cavallier.

Sweet floral with peach, that’s Poeme. The fragrance is pleasant but unusually light for a vintage Lancome. I’m a big fan of vintage Tresor, which is somewhat similar to Poeme. Tresor isn’t as sweet but has better sillage.
Poeme has a sunny cheerfulness about it, no wonder it’s popular. It’s a well made perfume but I wouldn’t call it high end.
Maybe my bottle isn’t the vintage version, there’s no way to tell. I bought it as such. In any case, Poeme is very feminine and a good perfume for women of all ages. I like the peachy note but wish there was a counter balance to the sweetness. And also more longevity.

I am used to the ’90s versions of Lancôme scents like Trésor and Poême, so after really disliking the current Trésor reformulation, I approached the Poême tester with trepidation. Unlike Trésor, which was my mom’s, Poême is my scent, and I love the vintage dearly.
On a positive note, Poême doesn’t have some weird funky note all around it the way I found new Trésor to have. Mostly, in the beginning, Poême smells similar to the way I remember it, but definitely a few notches wispier, weaker, more watery. It’s not all bad: as I mentioned in my Trésor review, ’90s perfumes were sometimes a bit too much, so a weakening isn’t necessarily a terrible thing in a modern version of a fragrance.
My main complaint is that Poême not only smells weaker, but as the drydown continues, it smells less rich and thick as the vintage does. I really, really miss that. I am usually not a fan of “headiness” in a perfume, but I loved it in Poême. This feels like Eau de Poême, to me.
In addition, the sillage is pretty good, but the longevity is not. It dries down quite quickly, and I get whiffs of a slightly odd, woody drydown, which the original and fairly linear version never really seemed to have. It was just strong all the way through, y’know?
I know now to treasure my remaining vintage, and I may consider purchasing the new version to use when I don’t feel that I need the full blast of Poême. To those who have never tried the vintage, Poême is still a really lovely and unique scent that is well-worth trying. I sprayed it on one wrist today, and had Dior Joy on the other. It was no contest using any measure.

@ efox. I love your description. Makes me want to blind buy. I love the fall weather and aromas.

Mesmerising, intoxicating, hypnotizing. You namne it! It’s called poeme, and they didn’t lie about that. As if the most fragrant flowers in nature worked up a play and succeded in it and the whole woody notes applauded. Pure love.

This is my mother’s signature scent and it smells so beautiful on her. I wear it sometimes to think of her. I think if sunshine had a color, this would be it. It is powerful. Sillage is off the charts. Use sparingly.

Ahhhhhhhh Mimosa,Poeme is full of it in all its glory. This perfume needs to be handled with care as it is powerful. I tried a few samples of perfume in the perfume shop and this one blew them all away. It has longevity and is distinctive. Slightly oriental on drydown. Just what you would expect from Lancome, although,Tresor is my favourite.

Poeme is mostly a sweet vanilla, mimosa and tuberose scent, with a little fruity nuance. Still, it doesn’t smell exactly like its notes list suggests it would, due to the many supporting but indistinguishable notes. It’s a happy, sunny scent that’s powdery but honeyed. As it progresses, I get more vanilla, but it’s mostly linear. It does smell a bit like other 90’s scents but it doesn’t smell too dated. The image I get is of Julia Robert’s full throated laugh when Richard Gere snaps the jewelry case closed in Pretty Woman. 90’s, wholesome yet a little sexy. It is a very strong, very sweet scent, so spray carefully. Like.

Wow, I only smelled this 1990s classic today. Based on the notes I thought I’d hate it but it’s really intoxicating and pleasant. Though probably best in cooler weather.
I smell peach or plum and ylang ylang+ rose, mimosa and a background of powdery haze. I don t get anything bitter, just smooth, yellow sunny and a bit buttery.
I can see how people compare this to Poison but I think this is much nicer and less likely to bother people. Poison is bright vivid green in aura and this is sunny yellow gold.I would totally wear this in with her and feel opulent. Poison is too sharp and assertive for me, Poeme is more polite. As long as you dont overspray. There is a slight similarity to Al Rehab Balkis too but this is not as over the top.
Sorry for pre judging based on notes but I didn’t think I liked ylang ylang nor dominant yellow florals. So wrong.

On me, this perfume somehow maintains the exact same scent as when it was initially sprayed on for the entire duration of its effect. I sprayed some on my right arm, left it for about 5 hours, and then sprayed some on my left arm, and to me they smell the same. I smell mostly powder and sweetness. It was less floral and way sweeter than I expected. It lasts a ridiculously long time, so don’t spray this on yourself unless you want to commit. Personally, I wouldn’t wear this to work because I don’t want to disrupt everyone’s breathing conditions.

Ohh, this is a big winner for me 🙂 I blind bought for the pretty bottle and the name and the strong mimosa note.. I love yellow florals.. and I loooove Poeme! Strong, syrupy sweet, very heady. Honey and peaches and tuberose and that lovely mimosa.
I only sprayed twice and it made me sneeze and cough in my car on the way to work.. woe to my colleagues that are having to put up with me right now, but Poeme is glorious and I don’t care, they’ll live 😉
I really adore a fragrance that can last and project on my perfume-devouring skin, it is so frustrating to fall in love with a scent that doesn’t last. I hands down recommend this to anyone who has bad luck with perfumes that whisper when they want ones that shout.

  15. :

Oh boy. I do not always wear Poeme but when I do… It’s a symphony of yellow flowers, yummy smelling mimosa is especially prominent here. Finally a fragrance that lasts on my skin. I keep this for special occasions because some people cannot handle this heavy duty perfume (that’s the way I like them, though). I want to wear this on my wedding day. Words that come to my mind when smelling this are WARM, RICH, DEEP and SAFE (as in nothing can hurt me, it’s like a huge shield of protection). As a poetry lover, I also dig the name. All in all – a gorgeous scent that projects like crazy! Love!

Before trying this i expected that it would smell something like amarige givenchy. Once i sprayed all i got was super sweet so artificial scent that i felt as if i spilled cola on me ! sorry poem, tried to like you but definitely you are a big no for me.

Lovely perfume! Very feminine, round, soft, floral, sweet. This is such a romantic fragrance! It’s somewhat similar with the drydown of Classique except that one is sharper. Definitely fit for springs and summers, although it’s quite strong, but applied with a light hand is perfect! Great longevity and sillage!

I’ve never loved and hated a perfume before. I had read some of the reviews because I was trying to figure out what was “off” about Poeme. I finally had come across the review to which it was mentioned that it smells like a graveyard. I would say that when Poeme is initially sprayed on, for the first hour or so, it smells like a dank crypt. It’s a terrible initial smell. Then, about 3 to 4 hours in, it shifts to an amazing buttery smooth scent that lasts for several hours. I love that final transitional smell. What’s unfortunate is that I must put up with a crypt smell for 2 to 3 hours before the transition to that lovely buttery scent. For me, I just can’t do that. Glad I only had a mini of Poeme so that I didn’t blind buy a larger size. Sadly, it’s a no go for me.

Finally mine. Not rich as previous previous years, but the scent still same, now a day is more modern, it is listed as floral sweet powdery, but I say, it is mature dried fruity with touch of floral, light spicy and smooth powdery. Mimosa is all around the scent, I can smell Miss Dior original EDT DNA here, but Miss Dior Original is amazing performance and both absolutely classic.

  20. :

This perfume right here is the reason for my obsession over mimosa flowers.
When sprayed lightly, it gives charm and such elegance that no other fragrance has ever done to me. The juice, in its yellow ambery color, along with the gold cap and writing give me a beautiful, classic vibe. The magic about it is that it transports me into a different world where I run around in a field of mimosas surrounded by a million butterflies.
    Wonderful for spring and summer.
One should definitely not overspray as it can become overwhelming. One spray on the wrists and a few dabs under your ears and you’re good to go. 🙂

Gorgeous, flowery, intoxicating, voluptuous beauty. To wishlist it goes.Smells very womanly and rich and sunny .
To me, this smell is the embodiment of a WOMAN. Not a miss, not a girl, not a lady, not any of the other words women are called by, just a feminine woman. Perhaps one who is also a mother. It’s the elixir of eternal femininity to me. It’s stunningly beautiful and I can’t wait to get my 100ml bottle.
Edit: Got my bottle and I’m beyond ecstatic. This perfume obsesses me. And it’s so long lasting and intense! Usually I can’t feel my perfume anymore after about 30-60 minutes particularly when applied only on skin, but I could smell this so heavily on me even after hours and hours. I think this is my favorite perfume that I have, even though I don’t feel it to be “me” (I’m more of a Signorina Misteriosa kind of girl, Poeme is very motherly and endearing), I’m going to make it “me”.

I can totally see why people love this but I cant handle it. It does remind me of Red Door.
Its so strong, which is a good thing, I hate it when a perfume has no longevity or sillage.
I think this would be lovely on someone else & I have total respect for this perfume. Its just not me.

Strangely I like most of the creations panned by Luca Turin, and despise many he adores. Poeme is one of those. It seems silly that something as luxurious and 1st world as perfume could be “polarizing”. We as perfume lovers should have the freedom to choose, love and wear whatever our olfactory senses desire, to each their own happiness.
This is a simply gorgeous, womanly scent of heady tuberose, peach, orange blossom, mimosa, and vanilla. It lasted for hours on my skin and clothing, and projection is such that my entire home smells of it after only two spritzs. It certainly isn’t weak willed, simpering or current. It is feminine, strong, divine, refined and very glamorous. This reminds me of fragrances Rita Hayworth would have worn.

    Bright tuberose fragrance!
Most of all I feel sweet tuberose. Mabe with peach. It reminds me classic Carolina Herrera and Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. Also it reminds me Classique by JPG somehow. This fragrance is perfect for special evenings.
    Very classy!

Poeme is one of my favourite perfumes! So beautiful scent, I love the mimosa and the floral combination, so chic and elegant. It is powerful and I like that. It makes me feel classy and I received many compliments while wearing this one. Sublime fragrance!

I’ve wanted to try Poeme for many years and finally got it from my monthly fragrance subscription. I am loving it! This is such a beautiful fragrance and seems to have many fans, so why isn’t it easier to find?
The floral notes I smell the most are sweet mimosa, green narcissus, and fresh orange blossom. I also get a hint of peach and lots of vanilla. This rich, sweet, heady, powdery floral is absolutely exquisite! This will always have a spot in my collection. I plan to buy a full bottle as soon as possible!

20 years ago I had a mini of Poeme. It was a bit too heavy on me then, but I never forgot the smell. Now, it is simply perfect. I can melt in it’s thickness. So warm, so yummy, but it is not boring, it has a little punch, that brings in a unique contrast. This is one of those perfumes that does not have substitutes, nothing that I have ever smelled. To me it looks like golden honey, and it would taste like honey, but it smells like mimosa. I love yellow mimosa flowers. This is spring in Russia to me, associated with March 8, International Women’s Day. As a girl I was intrigued by the tender fluffy yellow balls of mimosa and by it’s fragrance. Poeme brings all those memories back, wrapped in a warm blanket. If I could only have 4-5 perfumes, Poeme would be 3rd, after Coco Chanel and Mademoiselle.

I LOVE this fragrance. I went back to Macy’s yesterday intending to buy it because when I was there last week I tried Poeme and I honestly couldn’t shake her memory from my mind. So I get up there and the SA says, “We actually don’t carry stock of that one in the store anymore. We can have it shipped here for you though.” Bummer… why do they have a tester out then? Needless to say I ordered a 3.4 oz because that kinda crazy talk makes me think discontinuation is on the horizon. And that would be a terrible mistake!
I’ve seen this compared to JPG classique EDP and I do not see the similarity. I guess someone who likes classique may also like Poeme because they’re both heavy Vanilla florientals. However, that’s the end of the likeness. Poeme is VERY strong. Holy moly. Two squirts and you’re good til bedtime. On me Poeme reads as mostly yellow flowers and creamy Vanilla. It’s just gorgeous! It’s very different than anything else out there and I just love it.
I miss this era for perfumery… gosh… back when perfumers weren’t afraid to make PERFUME.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

I haven’t tried Poême until recently, I always overlooked it. What a mistake! There’s a reason this has been around for so long, and it certainly doesn’t deserve its current bottom shelve status in the shadows of Tresor, LVEB and all their flankers and flankers of flankers.
I think it’s noticeable that Poême is from the 90s, but it’s not outdated. There is a family resemblance to JPG Classique, which is also by perfumer Jacques Cavallier. I wonder why Classique is so much more popular today… maybe it’s the packaging. I actually like Poême better.
Poême is a creamy, dreamy, hypnotic and warm white and yellow floral. It can be a bit soapy at first, which I usually don’t like, but I don’t mind it here. Imagine bathing in a tub filled with precious oils and hundreds of blossoms and petals of ylang ylang, mimosa, jasmine, tuberose, orange flowers and daffodils. This, rounded with sweet vanilla and a hint of tonka, is Poême.
Mimosa doesn’t always work for me, it sometimes becomes weirdly dusty on me, but in this fragrance it’s very well blended and nice.
This perfume smells very feminine and has a soft nature, there is nothing sharp in it, but it’s still very intense and long lasting.

My mom had this perfume and it still reminds me of my mom so it brings this warm nice feeling when I smell it. It is warm smell and very thick. I think I could only use this in the winter and at night. Maybe on special occasions to a opera or something. But very nostalgic to me. I smell peach, mimosa, amber and leather the best from this one.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

I like it, but an actual comment that last time I wore it to work and a customer smelled it in the shop “that perfume is so strong. It smells like a graveyard.”
If it really did smell like a graveyard I’d probably like it a little more tbh

  33. :

    5 out of 5

I have very complicated relationship with Poeme. I love it. Full stop. But I can only wear this in the autumn days and not on daily basis. Very hard to describe and very nostalgic. No generic sweetness, no gourmand sweetness, yet it’s sweet and warm, the only note that stands out on me is mimosa. It’s a very calm, composed, full-bodied scent. You don’t need to speak loud to be heard. I enjoy it best on crisp autumn day, walking in the countryside, smelling fires and fallen leaves, my eyes sweeping over fields, watching the nature preparing for winter sleep. (by the way if you are looking for a lighter spicier alternative easier on your nose give Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom a try).

  36. :

    3 out of 5

This is the most narcotic, voluptuous & intoxicating oriental floral I’ve ever smelled. This is a fragrance for intrepid women who are unabashedly feminine and powerful, exuding an aura of sensuality and warmth that is simultaneously inviting yet aloof, warm yet cold, luminous yet dark; Lancome’s Poeme is a fragrance of juxtaposition and dichotomy, and its beauty lies in its contrasts.
A bouquet of ripe, heady yellow daffodils, buttery tuberose and orange blossom wrapped in a blanket of honeyed mimosa and a lethal overdose of vanilla; balmy and sensuous, veering on gourmand yet never quite edible.
Poeme is complex and indecipherable in its 90s fabulosity. If you enjoy Classique by JPG or Narcisse by Chloe, Poeme is for you. This is certainly not for the faint-hearted in any regard. One must experience it to appreciate its beauty, and I suggest anyone with a passion for fragrance and it’s wonderful history do so immediately. Absolutely incredible.

With a fanfare of trumpets heralding many other Lancome fragrances, this wonderful scent is so often overlooked. I only discovered this recently, but it is everything I have been seeking in a signature scent: it smells absolutely divine, is powerful but not overpowering, lasts all day long and I feel comfortable wearing it day or night. Elegant yet playful; warm and inviting yet refreshing: Poeme is an absolute joy and I love it!!!

Ahh, Poeme…she’s warm, she’s sweet, she’s sexy, she’s comforting. She is very sophisticated and classy yet not intimidating. “Come closer, and you may not ever want to leave me….” Will warm the cockles of the coldest of hearts. Total Absolute Loveliness. Like a warm fire on a cold Winter day. Relaxing. Beautiful. Welcoming. This one gets a BIG L❤️VE from me! Timeless beauty.

One of my all time favorites. I can see why it appeals to women of all ages. To me it seems youthful, sexy, and sophisticated. I wear it when I am dressed ‘to the nines’ in something classy and elegant. People say this fragrance smells soooo good. A unique, spicy floral.

Such a beautiful classic that hardly anybody talks about on YouTube. This perfume has a class, 12+ longevity , excellent sillage, and uniqueNess. I smell lots of jasmine and plums. Dats just me. I am wearing it right now as we speak. It smells heavenly. I have a 50 ml bottle which is gonna last me a very long time because all you need is 2 sprits max and you are good for 8-10 hrs.

I had a tiny 5ml bottle of Poeme and it was exquisite !! So strong which I love and so deep and plush. It embodies the word ‘perfume’. If you dived into the deep end of a perfume swimming pool you would come up smelling like Poeme !! It seems to soak you up completely. Lovely !! And all that from a 5ml bottle.

  43. :

Poême is beautiful, rich and voluptuous. It is strong but not intense, deep but not dark. It is so smooth like a great bottle of wine that doesn’t give you headache, just relaxes and gives you pleasure, and leaves very good taste on your pallet. Poême doesn’t change completely or drastically like many other fragrances in the drying down process. It slowly and faithfully develops with time. It just adds more supports to its structural notes.
To Undra: I think Poême now still has the same quality with the Poême over 10 years ago as I still have a bottle from way back to compare with.

Poeme is my favorite perfume. I get tons of compliments when I wear it. Too
bad it was discontinued! That’s a shame. I purchase the perfume at Lancpmes site but for some reason I’m under the impression that it has been modified. It does not have the strong and lasting smell. I have to apply more than the usual. Before I did not have to. Can someone tell me if they are experimenting the same as I?

  48. :

Bought it today from a pregnant lady who had to get rid of all of her fumes due to pregnancy nausea. What a shame! For her:)
My memories of Poeme are from mid 90’ies when it just came out and when all the fashionable ladies of 40+ got it from their husbands. I was around 20 at that time and found it waaay too sweet and heavy. I was more into aquatic scents back then. Even though I didn’t find Poeme suitable for me, I couldn’t forget about it. Somehow it has haunted my senses and memories, and I have wanted to get myself a bottle quite a while. Right now I only put it on the back of my hands just to test it, and it’s too soon to predict how I will respond to Poeme after a full day at work. I really hope I will enjoy it, but there is this litte “but” that makes me a bit hesitant. Just a tiny bit worried that it might be too sweet for me. I put Poeme in the same league as Organza and Amarige when it comes to sweetness, and I can’t wear neither of those. They made a few sweeties in the nineties that are not gourmand but still quite syrupy. I really really want to love Poeme because it is s head turner and very recognizable…
I might write a follow up on that one.

Poeme is a gorgeous scent. Rich and warm with a spiced sweetness, counteracted with a soapy floral undertone. I love smelling this! My grandmother has a bottle of this, so when I moved far away from her I bought a small bottle to keep her with me. In the cooler months I spray my sweaters with a single spray, and when I’m out and about I always find myself smiling, thinking of her. Such a special scent to me.

When I was about 19-20 I got this as a present for my Mom. I hated it (like I did all the heavies like Opium, etc) , as it smelled like a heavy perfume for a 40+ year old lady, but I knew my Mom would like it. Well, fast forward to a 29-year-old me. I’m surprised that I seem to actually be drawn to these classics. I decided to buy a 30 ml of Poeme today. I took a shower and sprayed some on, and I can’t get enough of it.

My grandmother wore this scent (RIP). I inherited her 100ml bottle that I will savor until it’s gone. It’s a beautiful sweet floral scent that is classy and just so nicely done. My 9 year old EDP is definitely not watered down so you only need a spray or two. Very elegant and comforting fragrance.

Exploring duty free store today, I was looking for something that will make me feel comfortable during the flight. Poeme was definitely not an obvious choice for the guy, but I felt like I want to put it on. And it was so good. I haven’t weared this scent since I tried it long ago in 90’s, and that time it felt too much – too bright, too loud – for the very young me. But now it felt perfect: not too sweet, not too fresh and not loud at all, just very pleasant, comfortable and still very recognizable. I am not going to wear Poeme often, maybe just next time at the airport, but what I thought of was how good the perfumes of the past really were, comparing to so many contemporary creations. Poeme is warm, sunny and poetic – somehow like Dolce Vita, my old time favorite from Dior. It’s a pity women of today don’t pay attention to these fragrances, looking for something new and trendy instead of choosing the quality perfumes which were born free and happy, with almost no marketing gene. For me these scents, which you can find mostly on the lower shelves, are like old dolls, forgotten in the children rooms – still beautiful, but not very interesting for grown up kids. I am happy we still can enjoy their grace, nevertheless.

My most favorite perfume from Lancome. It’s for summer or winter, day or night. Not so strong, no so sweet, just the right level. And it stays long on my skin, but will stay on clothes for a whole week after the laundry.

This has monster status sillage. I was given a sample by a friend which I then tried but found the scent to be a bit “mature” for me. So I shared this with my Mom. I do get the appeal of this one- it is unapologetic and strong. Definitely ladyboss.

Having smelled this for the first time today I am totally torn. To me it smells like Sunflowers *should* have smelled. It does smell very yellow, and I have a hard time putting my finger on what it actually smelled of. The initial stages are an unusual floral to say the least but later it has a smell of yellow flowers hovering above.. curry leaf?
It’s aomewhat sweet and not your generic sweet floral that’s all the rage at the moment but I am struggling very much here. I am sure there must be sunflower in here. If you took EA Dream Petals, added a sharper aspect, and more depth, a more realistic sunflower note and a curry undertone, you might just have it.
I don’t get jasmine from this as per other reviews at all.
    Two words: spicy yellow
Do I like it? I genuinely am not sure.

It must have been reformulated or my taste have changed over the years because I didn’t like it in my teens and I really like it now. It’s light floral with a bit of fruits and musk. Maybe now it has less peach! That is a tricky note for me.

I might have to give this a try. My AWFUL first and only experience with Poeme was an old co-worker I had. All week long, I kept smelling something burning. Yes, I would get a whiff of what smelled like paper on fire. I finally realized I only smelled this when she was passing by me or near me. I finally asked, what is that smell? Do you smell that? She smiled and said, “Oh, that’s me. My sister got me perfume, I’ve had it for years. Isn’t it delightful?” I am wondering if her bottle had turned after all those years and she just never noticed. Because it smelled rancid.

Though a well made fragrance, it is too sweet for me.
I may try to layer it with a green such as ck truth, and see what happens. Will report back on that. It may bring forward different notes, and mute the sweetness i find so cloying.

I agree with many reviewers here that this is a must try scent, especially for lovers of sweet vanillic florals. It has this slight fruity acidity to it that sets it apart from other sweet white florals. Overall it tends toward gourmand on me, I get an association of jasmine or orange blossom flavored icecream. Those are the predominant floral notes on me but others come to the fore at different times, lovely! Always staying sweet, sensual, very feminine… unfortunately something makes it a bit heavy and offputting on me, in the same way as jpg classique and gloria vanderbilt, which makes it difficult for me to wear in the long run. I suspect a type of musk as it is more a general feel of the scent rather than a specific note.
Performance of this one is really great! And I really dont see how this is dated… It is in line with and superior to many contemporary gourmandish florals

This is the perfume that made me enter the fragrance world. A very sweet floral although could be overwhelming at times. It will make you smell sweet, just that. Elegant in its own way because you can use it the whole year round in any occasion. Projection and longevity are quite nice. Overall is a good product.

At first spray I told my fiancé that it smelled like spicy baby wipes (and somehow I love it?) eventually it becomes a creamy bouquet of yellow and white flowers. I don’t have anything like it, but that’s because I mostly buy lipstick fragrances and purple flowers. This is a winner and I’m really happy to have a bit for myself . I can’t wait to buy a full size. 🙂

Today I was at a family reunion party and a man was wearing this perfume! 5 hours I went craaazy, it was soo familiar, I didn’t know why and didn’t have the guts to ask him. It was charming on him, didn’t seem layered with a man’s scent. His skin made it into a man’s fragrance! I couldn’t focus on the discussions, my mind was analyzing it, almost screaming I know this one!, I know this one!, so confuzing. I had Poeme for a short time and started to dislike it, gave it away, but now I came here to change my dislike into a like and think it’s a want for the future(if not for me, then for my boyfriend). Now I remember that a friend of mine was complaining about her son using all her poeme, it sure does work on man. If on a woman I smell it flowery and overpowering/dusty(not powdery), on a man it was cedar, musk, bit of leather, a little mint(now I see some green notes that I didn’t smell on me) and a strong flower or blend of flowers that I could not recognize. Poeme changed my day!

It often happens so that some fragrances smell very beautiful to my nose, but give me headache. Mugler’s Alien and Lancome’s Poeme are among those fragrances.
I can’t begin to describe how wonderful and feminine Poeme is, I think it is a very unique and one of a kind floral. Very recognizable, inspiring and warm. Juliette Binoche is a perfect ambassador for this fragrance: classy, sophisticated, but at the same time so effortlessly elegant. I recommend testing this fragrance on your skin and wearing it for several hours before deciding whether you need to buy it.

Why did I shun this for so long? Probably because I never liked the newer Lancome fragrances…this excludes Fidji which technically was Guy Laroche but in Sydney it was marketed by Lancome.
This proves the value of websites like Fragrantica, if I hadn’t read all the positive reviews, I may never have given this a go. A beautiful, honeyed floral..like nectar, you just want to drink it in. It’s gorgeous. Thanks Fragrantica!

You gotta be Patient and let it settle, then it’s divine. A little goes a long way.

Hi! I’ve never tried this perfume. I just wanted to know if it was reformulated??

Poeme must not be judged by what it is when first sprayed. It’s loud, brash and would make you cringe. But give it about half an hour. That’s when the creamy tuberose blooms and takes you straight to heaven. Absolutely gorgeous.
I must also mention – Poeme makes me very nostalgic. I spent a large part of my childhood in India as my parents were posted there. Designer fragrances were rarely available in India then. I’d sniff them with great enthusiasm in duty free on our yearly tr
