I am walking on the beach in Maui, in a friendly place called Ka‘anapali. with clouds above, the sound if the surf. My skin was warm but not hot, and every once in a while a drop of mist from the hills would land, giving me a second of coolness. The birds sang, flowers raced with the rainbows to bloom, and the most marvelous scent of plumeria charmed the air. The petals would drop like snow, they traced the breach with gorgeous scent. You had to like it, you are a prisoner to her delights.
It’s really the first time a place has smelled better than mre. It was magical and I was enchanted.
In several stores were perfumes. Some of these and some in bigger jugs. All captured that scent. For some reason, I bought none. A mistake I will not make again. I never imagined it would be ten years to go back but life…. They all come with Home me this time. How many times have I wanted to open a bottle and remember the islands through scent? This time, I will. If they are notcas I remembered, I’ll post that here too.

I have just received a decant in the mail and I am beyond happy. I have been trying different perfumes with frangipani notes but none of them bring me back memories from Hawaii. Unfortunately when I was there I did not purchase this product but now I was able to order online and it absolutely lived up to expectations. This smells just like lei flower I got to know in Honolulu. I love it! It’s very soft, beautiful, nothing offensive about it. Soon will be ordering a bigger bottle.

A beautiful frangipani soliflore, RH Plumeria opens a tad sharp but softens quickly. This is a fresh, humid, aquatic frangipani, decently realistic smelling and not too sweet. After the opening, this is maybe a tad too quiet for my liking, but the longevity is moderate and the price is cheap. An affordable little gem for any frangipani fan!

As far as high quality but affordable ahem cheap fragrances go, Royal Hawaiians are among the best. This is so lovely. Purchased from Amazon.com where they sell the cologne spray and the body lotion. Like others, I was first introduced to this scent during a visit to the Hawaiian islands. Their official state flower is plumeria, which is essentially a gardenia, and it grows wildly all over the islands. Their beautiful aroma fills the air even when you walk into hotel lobbys, the parking lots, the roads, and at the beach. Plumeria by Royal Hawaiian is a Hawaiian drugstore cheapie that the natives have made their own. She is a white floral clean and fresh scent that smells like a lighter mist edition of a room spray or air freshener for your home. The cologne concentration is not a bomb and it doesn’t have great staying power but I like to reapply.
I love how this smells. I spritz in the morning before work over the collar of my blouse and or on my neck and it feels like a pretty white soap but it also has a vanilla undertone. It’s almost a gourmand as the white gardenia becomes creamy and sweeter. This is sweet but not in the sweet celeb scent sort of way with notes of berry fruit or sugar candy. This is a sweet mature floral scent for ladies who like white flowers, or rather, soliflores, single floral notes. This is pure plumeria juice. Gorgeous. I have several bottles now because they are so cheap at only about 12 bucks. I can wear them throughout the day and smell clean and sweetly floral for running errands, going to the grocery store, picking up my kid from school or going to soccer games, all kind of mundane things. A perfume like this just makes you feel like you’re not in that little dull suburb you live in. It whisks you away to Maui, to Honolulu, where the hula girls are dancing and strong muscular native men serve you little fruity drinks with umbrellas on them. I’m in a sun hat and sundress and sunglasses and sit by the pool just enjoying the world go by at the beach. A Hawaiian get away. Also great for room spray when you want to walk into your own home, bathroom, kitchen, basement, mask the smells of cat litter or other odors and smell the aroma of that gorgeous plumeria.

April 2017 -first vacation in HI. Stayed in West Maui in the Kaanapali Beach area. First morning there, I was walking around, getting familiar with the grounds. It didn’t take long before I noticed the strong fragrance in the air that I would learn is plumeria/frangipani. The trees are everywhere here. I fell in love with it. It will forever be one of the key things I associate with my memories of Maui. I want to try layering it with a couple other fragrances to create a bit more complexity. I’m thinking of trying Jo Malone scents, Vanilla and Anise, Orange Blossom, Pure Vanilla, Vintage Gardenia,
I picked up my teeny bottles of plumeria in the gift shops. Will have to find a reliable source once I return home to stock up. I think plumeria will be a staple in my perfume rotation for a long time.

This is cheap but not God awful. It smells so beautiful. I go to Hawaii often and have performed on cruise lines that go to Hawaii. This scent always takes me back to Hawaii. Plumeria is the official flower of the Hawaiian islands. It’s a star shaped white flower with 5 petals. It has little dabs of colors like light purple and yellow. It’s similar to jasmine but mostly Tiare Flower and both are gardenias. They have a slight vanilla and citrusy smells and also resembles frangipani flower. This is why frangipani is listed as a note but it’s not the only note. The Fragrantica Notes should read like this:
Citrus Notes Gardenia Jasmine Plumeria Tiare Frangipani Vanilla
Everything I love about Hawaii is in this fragrance. It’s Hawaii in a bottle. If you like white floral scents, jasmines, gardenias and actual plumeria or Tiare you should have no problem with this. Smells great as air freshner for your home as well. It’s pretty strong so one spritz is enough. This is summery and lovely and I love to wear this on cruises not only to Hawaii but to the Caribbean. Smells just like a vacation to a warm climate, to an island where you can relax and get tanned. Beautiful.

I fell in love with plumeria after sampling Chanel’s Beige, thus when visiting Kauai, I had to have this (do they sell this scent in other Hawaiian islands?).
On me Plumeria starts with the blast of white florals: jasmine, tuberose, maybe some orange blossoms.. But after awhile it’s mainly the same plumeria I found in Beige. Gorgeous!
It costs next to nothing, staying power is really great (>6h for the roll-on) and is simply a great tropical island vacation cologne. Would like to pair with some other scents for a more interesting projection though.
Update: paired it with MFK “Oud Satin Mood”, perfumes compliment each other really nicely! “Plumeria” adds a nice sweet but fresh floral note to otherwise mellow MFK masterpiece.

Just purchased the plumeria vanilla version in Hawaii while in Kauai.
A stunning, heady, yet soft fragrance that lasts and lasts with amazing silage.
To me, it resembles the fragrance of a sweet, floral, clean shampoo…similar to that “Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific 70’s & 80’s” iconic shampoo we used that made our boyfriends hearts jump with madness over the sexy scent of our hair.
Plumeria smells similar to jasmine, or tuberose or gardenia to me, in that it has a slightly “spicy” note to it, making it wearable, or the sweet potency of the flower itself would be too overwhelming.
The vanilla version adds a creamy and sexy depth to the fragrance and I received a lot of compliments while wearing this. It is defiantly a “mmmmmm, you smell amazing” scent that seems to get noticed and garner compliments…even in a over packed elevator in hot Hawaiian weather. Try it! You will fall in love with the smell so reminiscent of the islands you can close your eyes and think you are on a beach in Hilo, Waikiki, Kauai, or Maui. I love it. Besitos! xo

Bought this in Kauai when I fell in love with the Plumeria’s growing everywhere. Wore then in my hair for three weeks! For those who are unfamiliar with the plumaria fragrance, the scent is comparable to a soft jasmine, very feminine and very Hawaiian. Wearing this brings a smile and many beautiful memories. Aloha!

This is a sweet, pretty, fruity, romantic, and lush tropical flower fragrance that should be pleasing to anyone who likes sweet florals. Imagine being at a festive outdoor dinner buffet on a warm summer night surrounded by flowers and lanterns. I prefer soft creamy flowers to harsh heady ones, so this floral is good for me. For a single floral, I am actually pretty impressed, and would not mind wearing it alone. I have the roll-on perfume. And by describing it as soft and creamy, I have no intention to imply it is weak. It is very fragrant, flirty, and showy. I’ve just started using this, so I am not sure as to the longevity but I wouldn’t expect an inexpensive perfume to last more than a few hours anyway.
As to how much it resembles a real plumeria flower, I really can’t tell you right now without a side by side comparison. I recall the flower as being lighter and not as sweet, but the essence is similar. I remember when I went to Hawaii, I purchased a plant cutting, but it did not survive our year-round cool climate back home. The next time I go to Hawaii, or stop at a nursery to purchase plants at least, I will make a point to smell the real thing.
