The fragrances of Antonio Banderas have been keeping the actor at the top of lists within the celebrities’ division for the last 20 years. In Brazil, until recently, Blue Seduction (2007) was one of the most commented in forums about perfumery, because of its amazing cost-benefit.
Thanks to the immense success, limited editions are released annually, within the Seduction line, namely: Splash (2012), Electric (2013), Cocktail (2014), Urban (2015) and Radiant (2016). In 2017, the brand brought the new Play in Black Seduction and Play in Blue Seduction (including a women’s version). In Brazil, they are sold only in Dufry stores (I do not know if the exclusivity contract will finish and they will be sold later in other stores).
Play in Blue Seduction tries, as always, to demonstrate the more relaxed side of seduction. During the day, the man wears the Blue version and, at night, he ventures with Black and a greater dose of sensuality. The fragrance features cantaloupe melon and bergamot notes, in the head. Then, the body brings warmer notes of cardamom, nutmeg and mint. The base is woody and has notes of sandalwood and cedar, as well as amber, moss and musk.
It is a great scent! The output is citric and sweet, mentholated (with ice sensation) and at the same time is spicy and woody. The woody base is light and the cedar stands out. The evolution is bigger than in the Black version and this is what most amuse me in this creation.
It is worth observing some aspects: the mix of initial notes can deceive and make the user to believe that the perfume has nuances of ginger; whoever expects a very remarkable melon scent, will be disappointed; whoever thinks it’s just another typically blue scent with ozone / marine nuances will be surprised. Mint is undoubtedly the star of composition.
The projection is very good, but the duration is poor. In fact, the fragrance lacks in resistance. If worn on hot days, it disappears fast thanks to the volatility of its ingredients. If worn at milder temperatures, it works beautifully and looks much more expensive. Even so, it begs for a lot of spraying and reapplication.
To finish, the bottle retained the visual identity, including the colors of the last limited editions, which abuse of the blue and the vibrant yellow details.
