I am reviewing a sample from the Illuminum website. The very clean and refined jasmine sits between a smooth base and a very fresh herbal opening. It is not a strong floral Jasminum sambac as in Amouage Library Collection Opus I, but a cool muted generalised jasmine as in L’Artisan Perfumeur The Pour Un Ete. It is a summery green perfume which is sophisticated and restrained with good materials and I can imagine it appealing to many. Though much softer than the greenness of Chanel No. 19, it might strike as classical and prim, and in this regard the perfect workplace scent, for no-one could receive an impression of “cheap white floral” and the sillage is well placed to avoid stridency. To others, or in other moods, it could easily read as luxurious, sensual and intriguing. This is not sweet and the sandalwood and musk are reined back to gently support the jasmine entwining the green leaves. The quality of this is sky-high above the ordinary, but the retail price demands a very individual consideration of its merits. My thoughts about the fragrance cohere around the central paradox that I would find it at its most refreshingly beautiful if I encountered it worn by someone else.

There is an immediate zingy aromatic start with the petitgrain, tarragon and lots of jasmine. My skin tends to amp up any musk and it has done so here. I guess this orange is in there somewhere but I cant detect it. Its a pretty linear fragrance and personally not my cup of tea. This is not a pleasant combination of notes.
