Description
Inspired by entrepreneurial powerhouse Leslie Blodgett’s dynamic life, Leslie Blodgett Perfume Diaries is a limited edition fragrance collection, created exclusively for Sephora, that revisits and evokes pivotal moments in Leslie’s life. Having kept journals since she was a young girl, Leslie has captured the essence of every trip she has taken through the pages of her journals. Today, these pages have been brought to life through scent, enabling Leslie’s ardent fans to walk a fragrant mile in her shoes.
Bare Skin, the first scent in the series, is reminiscent of an experience during a trip to Mexico, where Leslie cart-wheeled fancy-free down a sunny beach while emanating true, unbridled joy. “When I have an experience, I like to have a scent behind it. Bare Skin, which is what Mexico reminds me of, is the way you feel when the sun is beating down on you during the day, but then you go out at night and you’re still sizzling from the warmth of the da,y which mingles with the night air and the music.”
“Glowing, sun-kissed skin has the power to turn heads. I wanted to recreate that attractive force with notes that draw you in: creamy sensuality, caressing florals, and uninhibited musk,” says Stephen Nilsen, the celebrated perfumer who helped concoct Bare Skin. “With Bare Skin, you will find yourself basking in the sun, with your feet in the sand, after one spritz.”
The Bare Skin 1.7 oz EDP contains emotional undertones throughout, and takes you from day to night with top notes of Black Pepper, Freesia, and Anise that evoke the morning breeze coming through the window and the anticipation of the day ahead. The heart notes of Iris, Vanilla Orchid, Plumeria, and Patchouli conjure walking to the beach and being on hot, hot sand, while the dry down notes of Sandalwood, Labdanum, and Musk tell of the soft, sexy chatter between couples and the music that surrounds them. Leslie recommends spraying the fragrance on your pulse points and behind your neck – the heat from these areas will permeate the scent with every breath.
The Bare Skin Solid Perfume Compact captures a moment of time in Leslie’s life and interprets it into a heady scent. Dab on pulse points for the ultimate exhilaration.
The Bare Skin Perfumed Body Cream perfectly compliments the fragrance. To extend the fragrance sensation, apply the hydrating body cream after showering and follow with a fragrance spritz near your heart.
Perfume Diaries Bare Skin was launched in 2009.

This little gem was something I initially overlooked when it first came out because, “Nah, Leslie Blodgett? A perfume?” But one sniff of my wrist and I melted. You know that feeling, it’s like a perfume coma or something. On my skin, it’s the ideal balance of pepper, anise, and vanilla married in sweet accord. It is not too sweet, though, not cloying. Blodgett’s idea behind the perfume–Mexico–is nothing my mind conjures when I smell it. It’s not beachy at all on me. When I think beachy, I think Harajuku “G”(another fave of mine). The lasting power of Bare Skin on me is also very great–by the end of the day my skin still contains traces of it, like it doesn’t want to let go of its embrace. My go-to, and so thrilled I found *two* boxes! Cost a lot, but hey, the feeling of exuding any amazing scent you love is priceless.

I love this scent and can no longer find it. For me it is the most wonderful everyday perfume. I have had many mnay compliments on it and now I can’t find it anywhere. If anyone knows where I can buy “Bare Skin” please let me know. It has simply disappeared.

Very warm and sexy, but not sweet, I like this a lot.

This reminded me so much of Azuree Soleil, with its quiet suntan-oil vibe, that I did a side-by-side comparison. At the start, Bare Skin is a little sweeter & more grassy. However, Bare Skin is pretty much gone in an hour, while AS is still going strong. I can still find AS on eBay, so I’d buy that instead.

I… I don’t know what to say about this one. It’s nothing fancy or outstanding. It would be perfect as an everyday scent, if you’re into this type of scent. For me… well, it works with my chemistry, I just don’t think I was feeling this one. Very…. very blah, very neutreal, very… bare.

It is very gentle and soft just like
bare skin. Not tiring or aggressive,
feels really good….

Perfume Diaries BARE SKIN by Leslie Blodgett reminds me a bit of Les Senteurs Gourmandes TENDRE MADELEINE, except that BARE SKIN lacks the artificial butter residue which I detected in TENDRE MADELEINE. (Guilty as charged: obscurum per obscurius!)
BARE SKIN is a light gourmand scent which does in fact offer a fairly good facsimile of the well-made madeleine: a beautiful little slightly spongy shell-shaped cake made with flour, eggs, butter, sugar, a little vanilla, and a touch of lemon zest. I do not detect the woodiness here at all. Rather the flour comes through as in L’Artisan Parfumeur BOIS FARINE only minus the wood and plus a touch of vanilla.
BARE SKIN, a linear edp, really smells edible rather than floral, but without being overly sweet. The longevity is impressive, but this gentle gourmand stays close to the skin.

Sampled this one, it’s nice and soft very close to the skin not sure about the staying power. I think this one is a summer scent good if you want to smell good but not like you have perfume on. Would like to try it again when it’s hot. There is another scent by Leslie Blodgett, who is the CEO of Bare Minerals this scent is called Santa Barbara it comes in a really cute pink bottle.

I didn’t think it was bad. Maybe because I wasn’t expecting much. In all honesty I found this just fresh meets musky. Nothing special. Nothing bad. Just not for me.
I also think it’s the sort of scent that appeals to a wide audience because it is so neutral.
