Description

Arno Sorel introduces a new collection named Solinotes, which includes 6 fragrances: Mure, Ambre, Vanille and Coco. All six of them come in glass bottles of different colors, harmonized with the notes of which they were made.

Musk, patchouli, blackberry, amber, vanilla and coconut can interfere with each other creating peculiar variants. Zen mix can be achieved by combining coconut and vanilla, Coco + Vanille, Gourmand mix is obtained by combining Mure + Vanille fragrances, Ethnic equals the combination of Patchouli + Coco, while Trendy mixture comes from wearing Mure + Musc simultaneously. Interesting combinations are Musc + Patchouli which create Glamorous mix and Ambre + Vanille, forming Chic mix.

Collection Arno Sorel is available from 2010. The fragrances are available in quantities of 50ml eau de toilette.

Hello to all the curious noses out there!! I must admit I absolutely revel in reading the reviews of people, who, instead of sampling only the newest or the most hyped perfume creations, are on a mission to learn and explore a certain note in perfumery, be it niche or some classical masterpieces. I look up to people on a quest to find THE best perfume, featuring their favourite note, be it vetiver, oakmoss, rose or any other. I truly admire their curiosity, dedication and determination. Being inspired by all those amazing fellow fragranticans, I too want to start a similar thrilling (hopefully!) journey exploring the notes I appreciate, the notes I loathe (it’s nice to push your own boundaries once in a while) and the ones I haven’t explored enough. So, here we go.
Patchouli… (the note I haven’t experienced enough as a dominant one, but sure as hell love, so I doubt I qualify as a patch-virgin ;))
This perfume claims to contain just one note, which is patchouli. Looking at the darkish brownish colour of the juice in my bottle, there must be some vanilla thrown in for sure. For the price that it is sold for, one can easily deduce that this perfume does not contain any pure essential oil of patchouli (can we blame them?), moreover, I suspect real patch lovers may consider it a horrid, synthetic, sweet mess and not even close to the real deal (I might be wrong, surprise me). However, this is the very beginning of my patch journey and I have to start somewhere, and the perfumes from my collection are the most logical starting point.
So, for my patch-untrained and patch-inexperienced nose this perfume is…. extremely lovely and highly enjoyable! It’s dark enough, it’s not overly sweet, not green, not really pungent or earthy, but rather smooth and mellow. TF Noir de noir has a similar delectable chocolatey vibe in the drydown. The day I wore it in public I got a compliment from a male stranger, which was an added bonus to my overall pleasant experience. My guess is, it could probably be unisex, if one doesn’t mind a certain vanilla sweetness.
I will be a perfume snob if I tell you that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy wearing this budget perfume.
My patch verdict: a note done right for novice patch lovers. Next stop on the journey is CD Midnight Poison.

This is a wonderful tobacco style Patchouli. There was only the tester left, otherwise I would have bought this as soon as I smelt the perfume.
Lovely, tobacco accord, not too heady. I think this could be worn year round. Patchouli tends to evoke Victoriana to my mind- A nice way to time travel via scent.

I was a passionate patchouli hater for years but lately it seems that my tastes have changed and I’m starting to like some patchouli dominant perfumes
I have solinotes vanilla and I loooove it so I decided to find others(especially musk, amber and coco)unfortunate musk and amber were sold and just one bottle of coco, one bottle of patchouli and couple of mure was left.I decided to try patchouli and strangely,I like it very much!
It’s not dirty and a tad sweet, kind of chocolatey patchouli as mentioned in below review.it is earthy and a tad spicy but also sweet and chocolatey.it’s potent and a little dark.great for layering gourmands
I have to go back and buy it before it’s too late. I’d love to try it with vanilla

While I agree that this product is heavy on the vanilla, I feel it is also heavy on the patchouli. The overall effect for me is a creamy chocolate smell. Silage and longevity are excellent; definitely gender neutral. This and the solinotes amber are easily my two most complimented fragrances by both men and women. Highly recommended for those who love warm gourmand scents that aren’t too bakery frosting sweet.

Definitely *not* a solinote patchouli, the permeating vanilla is far sweeter and more noticeable than the weak patchouli note. I’ve loved patchouli ever since I first smelled it on the liner of Madonna’s Like A Prayer LP, but this is definitely not pure patchouli… The drydown is all about vanilla, vanilla and vanilla.

This is my favorite patchouli so far. Unfortunately, as soon as it touches my skin the lovely scent is gone. I can smell it on clothes, but not on myself.

This isn’t your typical dirty patchouli; it seems to be tempered with berries of some kind, or some form of sweetness. It lasts on my skin for almost a whopping five minutes. I’m not getting the L’Occitane Ambre similarity whatsoever (that’s a much richer, creamier scent), so I’d check them for comparison if you’re considering substitution.
[EDIT]: Okay, the scent is still there, but it’s very low. I’d have to force someone’s nose into my skin for them to smell it. I think that initial spray must have been my body’s attempt to reject it.
Anyhow: I’d say it’s nothing worth considering unless someone were to hand you a bottle for free. And I just wore L’Occitane’s Ambre for comparison–and there’s no comparison whatsoever.

I’ve just introduced my self to the solinotes line by arno sorel, I like the concept very much , mixing different solinotes according to ones liking. The patchouli smells very much like ambre by l’ occitane, I like it, warm and exotic.
